Gorgeous cosy pub with open fire, with lovely food ! We had the yummy venison stew - recommended ! Grrat service. If I lived nearer, I'd visit regularly.

A proper pub selling real beer and great food. The sandwiches are enormous and worth the money charged.

Turfcutter's advertises a dog friendly stay and it certainly is. Our room was warm and comfortable with a small kitchen, a bathroom, tv etc. The floors were tiled so no worries about the dog. There is a small enclosed area in front of the accommodation where the dog can go or, in summer, you could sit out with a bbq and a beer. Excellent breakfast. None to beat it. Dinner the evening before, equally good. The atmosphere of this old public house, nestling in the New Forest, is warm and inviting and the staff could not have been more helpful friendly. We will certainly be back!

Whilst holidaying in the New Forest, we (family of 4) wanted somewhere for dinner that had character and wasn't the usual chain of same old food, boy did we find it! Going from other reviews led us to the Turfcutters Arms, and I'm so glad it did. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the pub was charming and the food was amazing! All of our meals were completely polished off whilst enjoying the views out of the window at the passing pony's. The play area in the garden was utilised by our kids to burn off some energy, which they loved. We would happily return, and next time, I'm getting the pie!

A great spot to overnight In a camper. The staff were more than happy to help, when we turned up the camper spaces were occupied with normal cars, and even with a packed pub the manager didn't hesitate to ask around and get a space freed up for us. The pub caters for coeliacs and is very accommodating with the facilities even out of hours. Wouldn't hesitate to return

Eaten here a couple of times and would describe it as pub grub. Lovely area to relax in the garden. Staff are lovely and always seems to be locals in so it has a great vibe.

It was Sunday evening and we went to this old local pub to have dinner, there were plenty of cars outside and a busy beer garden We entered inside and there were lots of tables reserved but we found one free where we could sit and have supper . The service was quick and good. The food took more than 20 minutes to come but the pub was very busy. The plates were simple, nothing special and the same menu as in all the other pubs but the atmosphere was nice and the building very special. We ordered a brownie with ice-cream, it came very quickly and it was tasty but everything was a bit overpriced for what it is. We paid £42.00 for two mains, one drink and one dessert to share. Apart from this, it is a very relaxing place and recommended as it is situated in a very nice village in the new forest and it has different environments inside and outside and is very beautiful. The staff was very nice I have to say, nothing special just doing their jobs.

Found the Turfcutters almost by accident as we were holidaying in the New Forest and wanted somewhere to eat in our last night there. Table was booked and the staff were really welcoming to us strangers. We had some sumptuous food - starter, mains and dessert. Great find.

Lovely little pub with a lot of wartime history to see on the walls relating to the nearby aerodrome used by the RAF and Americans. Food is excellent and decent portions. Friendly staff and Landlord. Good local beers

One of a dwindling number of proper pubs with locals just having a beer at the bar. Very friendly staff and the lasses serving both at lunchtime and in the evening were polite, patient, helpful and friendly. The food was very good quality and good portions too. The location is nice and you can walk straight onto the forest. More than doggie friendly and campers are also allowed to stay overnight if there is space (the car park is quite small so don't arrive late). The beer was OK but both beers I tried were a bit heavy for my taste, a light summer ale would be a good idea. Looked like a nice garden area but we stayed inside.

We were in need of a quick simple dinner for a family with a small child, and they did well for us. Good home cooking that came quickly with a decent play area in the back and wasn't too expensive. Excellent service too. If you're looking for an amazing culinary experience you'll probably be disappointed though. The bar was good, some local ales on tap always helps. We didn't stay so we can't comment on the quality of the rooms.

It had great outdoor space although it said no smoking under the marquee but people were smoking which was handy as it was a bit chilly if you had to sit completely in the outside space. A little expensive but just an observation.

Been here twice now and this place is lovely! Food is great, very cosy pub set in stunning surroundings. They offer a stay over service for camper vans should you wish to putchase a meal, you can park out back and use the toilets during your stay. Friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The specials board is great but i chose a burger which was cooked beautifully. I can't rate the rooms as we didn't stay in them but from what I've heard, they're also very comfortable.

We came for lunch around 12 pm on a Tuesday thinking it be nice and quiet, on the contrary, it became pretty much fully booked out with diners. The service was swift for us and the staff with professional and friendly. We ordered a sausage sandwich, french onion soup with bowl of chips. The portion size was very generous using quality ingredients. So we understood why it was such a popular place.

Stopped by here for lunch today as the food smelled fantastic, sadly they refused to serve us as they didn't have a big enough table available (four people) and advised us to wait outside in the very freezing weather until a table became available...not exactly welcoming. We also had a 1 year old with us so waiting outside wasn't really an option. Also no accessible toilets and no baby changing facilities.

Lovely pub out in the southern forest, we enjoyed a lovely meal with venison and gammon steaks. The owner came out to see us and tell us a bit about the venison's provenance and have a general chit chat - look out for the poacher's gun he found when renovating the property years ago! Good beers and friendly clientele made for a welcome retreat from a (very) wet day outside.

We live in Lyndhurst Village and this used to be our go-to, local Pub. Unfortunately, the staff just do not seem to care. Last night we ordered two bhaji burgers, a pint and a rum and Coke - £48 lighter even after our locals discount. The meal was plonked down miserably… we were offered condiments, I asked if they had vegan mayo and the reply was ‘probably not’ … so I asked for ketchup and a tiny pot was bought it over to share. The burger was so small and incredibly dry…. My husband got up to try and get more ketchup for us as there was no staff around to ask. We were both incredibly hungry and the small pot of chips were lovely, but it left us saying that we will absolutely never be back again. This is the third time we’ve had a really poor meal here. You always want to support your local pub and it really did used to be fantastic but no longer. It used to be full of locals and interestingly, we didn’t see any last night. everybody locally in the village probably realises there are other better options. Save your money and go somewhere else, we won’t ever be back again. The New Forest Inn, Emery Down is much nicer or The Stag. Incidentally, we went to get two Diet Coke’s (as the meal was so dry) and for two small mush cokes it was £6.90!!
