Yummy food. Sending feedback here as no number available / email to contact however I have had a bad stomach this morning! Cannot be sure it was from this restaurant however. So for the owner this was lunch yesterday 28 September around 1pm - chicken burger ordered. Cheers.

Dreadful. Turned up after a morning at the seaside with my two hungry small children and asked before we order drinks, can we order food midweek. Answer was an unambiguous yes and we were promptly given menus to peruse while we enjoyed what- as you well know- were expensive soft drinks. We were then told after waiting 10 minutes that food now wouldn't be served as there was an inspector in. No way would we have paid out ridiculous pub prices for lemonade if we weren't eating as we'd have to do it all again somewhere else. Spoiled a lovey day.

We walked in and were not greeted or looked at. After we asked if we could sit, they said yes, without looking up. The staff present, a man and a woman, were standing behind the bar and working on their phones. We ordered drinks (at the bar because they didn't come by), drank them quickly and ran away to a pub where they are happy when guests come.

After a lovely walk around the new Forrest we found this pub and stopped for a late lunch. The barman was nice but slow service. 10 of us had lunch, which was absolutely not worth what we paid. On our exit a lady from the kitchen was horrendously rude! The pub was empty - and I have no question over why that might be. Avoid at all costs!!!

Food and service was excellent, owners were lovely. I had a very thick tasty burger with proper bacon, nice homemade chips and a dressed salad. Other party members were also extremely happy with their food. My daughter even ate hers and she’s super fussy. This little pub has so much potential, it is quite run down, it has a big beer garden with a lovely walk around the woods. Just needs a good spruce up as everything is looking very old and abandoned.

On a Sunday. We had two roasts, both bearly warm. The red cabbage (as I assume it was supposed to be) was blue 😳 potatoes you couldn’t cut they had a horrible microwaved texture. No coke or Pepsi of any kind. Infact no soft drinks on draft at all. No puddings on as apparently didn’t have time to make them that morning. One staff member in the whole pub as apparently no else showed up. I get we all have bad days but if you can’t provide the service, maybe just close for the day.

Gutted , vegan butter ( I would not have ordered it had I known) in the sarnies tasted absolutely yuck (we had cheese and pickle and a cod goujon one) , I ate half the sandwich and gave up , Mrs took one bite of her fish one (again with vegan butter .why??? And was like nope).chip fryer needs a clean and new oil as chips all burnt tasting . To be fair offered a refund on the food £30 for 2 Half's and 2 sarnies just to much considering the quality. Friendly staff but the whole place needs some time and love and £ spent on it .

We were camping in the new forest and stumbled across the crown and stirrup during a bike ride. The one member of staff at the bar was over stress and very rude. We tried to order some chips but we weren't allowed unless we order main meals as there wouldn't be enough for other people?!? The pub is clearly losing money and the owners are trying to cut corners at any opportunity.

Called ahead to see if they could accommodate us and was told it would be fine. Was told when ordering, food would take around 20 min to come out but waited an hour. Was made to feel like we were a hindrance and not made to feel welcome at all. The guy working there was not asking us to do anything but telling us and with a complete attitude. Very rude. The pictures also show the outside area to be nice and well kept, but was completely overgrown, weeds about 2ft high coming out of mortar on the patio areas and children's climbing frames looked very unsafe with bits missing. The pictures on Google reviews froma few years ago, show it in such a nice condition outside. It's like someone took over who doesn't care about it. It's such a shame as this was a last farewell with our friends on what was a wonderful weekend together. On a plus note, interior of pub was nice and clean and toilets were in decent condition.

I barely ever leave reviews, but... The 4+ rating might be quite misleading, in my view. The location next to the bike routes is excellent. The kitchen however clearly had a bad day when we visited. The soup of the day should perhaps be renamed to "soup on the chef's bad day", but the 45 min wait time might have simply inflated our expectations. The beer was there though.

A friend and I planned to have lunch here. We arrived at just before 12 only to find the door locked (opening hours are from 11am). The door was finally opened by an extremely sullen young woman who refused to acknowledge our hellos or to smile. We were shocked at her rudeness and felt very uncomfortable. I realise that anyone can have a bad day, but would point out that with an attitude like that, her day and that of the pub manager/owner is unlikely to improve. We took our business elsewhere and will never return. What a shame.

We ordered burgers, chips etc. The burgers were dry, the salad poor quality and the chips were unbelievable - they were brown and looked as if they had been recooked. I ate hardly anything. The pub had no beer on tap. Also, it was cold. The menus were on the wall only, claiming it's homemade. My partner and I cook ourselves at home, so we know how food should taste. We came after a long walk, hungry, but I couldn't finish the food. That's how bad and weirdly smelly it was. And I'd eat a dead horse if I wasn't vegan. The stuff wasn't very welcoming either. We said in the end, we didn't love it (butternut squash wellingtons) and was told they don't normally get complaints. Reviews tell a different story though. I would have recommended this pub plenty of things they could improve but wouldn't recommend to others, unless the staff make more effort in hospitality and cooking.

5 of us , family, had booked to have a meal here on Friday night. We entered an empty pub, and told there was no beer and very limited menus as they had electrical problems. We decided to stay, ordering drinks that were available. We awaited the food with trepidation, but were happily surprised to receive 5 freshly prepared meals which we thoroughly enjoyed. Well done to the staff who must have been relieved we hadn't walked out. They were lovely and we hope they get back to normal very soon. We understand they are an independent pub with no back up from a brewery. I would go again in the sumer when they are sure they will be fully functional again.

After all of the Celebrities chefs raising awareness on British cuisine, we have gone all the way backwards. What a disappointment the Crown Stirrup was, I came from Bournemouth to enjoy a good and traditional Sunday Lunch in the New Forrest. Did anyone tell the owner its post COVID so get your garden cleaned up. The place looks closed, and it was quite and the reason could be the food the most disappointing area served by staff that have their trousers hanging around their thighs exposing underpants and buttocks to the customers while they ate. I ordered Whitebait which were as big as sardines, so big they were coated in breadcrumbs and placed on top of the tartare sauce (not freshly made) small side salad no lemon. Whitebait are sprat, small about an inch long coated in milk and seasoned flour served with a vessel of tartare sauce and side of lemon, can have sprinkling of paprika or Cayenne. Oh but the main course was something else, overcooked beef with rubber roasts peas and carrots coated in flavorless packet gravy, glossy and shiny awful, and the red cabbage same watery purple liquid finished off with supermarket horseradish sauce. All through lunch some music blaring through what seemed like a transistor radio. Just when you thought it was safe to venture out for Sunday Lunch there is the Crown Stirrup in Lyndhurst. Close up not good for british pubs and its culinary scene.

However, it backed onto the woods, which you could access through a gate in the beer garden. The children loved it! It was lunchtime and we had an evening meal booked so we wanted a light lunch. The menu only catered for large meals and children's menu. We thought we'd order from the children's menu, but the bar tender would not allow us to!!! So we ended up having starters with chips. From the moment we walked in the place felt like it had given up. Time was about 6.15, one other couple in pub, two guys serving who could not have seemed less interested. Only one ale available as delivery only made that day. Asked for...

Friendly staff, very handy location, parking on site, great gardens, food wholesome and beer decent. What more do you need from a traditional English pub! Dog and child friendly.

Been here loads of times over the years and it’s always been lovely. Sweet garden good food. Think has changed hands. Arrived 1pm Easter Sunday, place was pretty deserted which ran alarm bells. Then they had no drinks. I mean one lager (Amstel) and one...

There on Good Friday, after a walk in Pondhead Inclosure. Not very busy. Only one member of staff behind the bar. Other staff member had gone to source ketchup as they had run out...strange on day one of the bank holiday. Menu limited in comparison with previous visits. Waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Burgers were good, the chips less so.

The welcome was amazingly friendly and the food good honest pub grub. The pie and mash was delicious. We visited in our Motorhome and stayed overnight. We will definitely return.

Stayed here in our motorhome for 1 night, had a lovely tasty dinner, couldn't fault it. Menu not huge but the quality made up for that. A very friendly atmosphere too.

Lovely dog-friendly pub. My pooch was offered a water bowl on arrival. Service was great and the skin-on chips were wonderful!

Went for a Sunday roast after a walk in the new forest. The pub itself got quite full and is a nice little pub although I imagine better in the summer given the outside space. Food was really average. Over cooked beef, undercooked veg and...

Came for a drink after a long walk, it was late afternoon so too early for dinner. Asked for some crisps, told by the barmaid they don’t serve crisps, nuts or anything like that, but she had a food menu. I didn’t fancy onion rings...

Such a lovely, friendly cosy pub. Leah and Gary have really created a welcoming atmosphere and have bought back that feeling of how a community pub should be. Attentive and accommodating staff nothing seemed a problem for them. Incredible food, not your normal basic pub grub. Chris the chef even came out and introduced himself and personally checked everything was okay with our meal. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Highly recommend the cookie dough brownie!

Possibly the worst sandwich I have ever tasted. I can only describe the bread as poor quality thin sliced white bread, the cheese could not be seen, there was a generous amount of caramelised jam! over priced at £6.50! The tea was reasonable. The cakes looked nice.
