Tung Sing in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

DREADFUL FOOD. The worst chinese food I have ever had - awful!! Bland and tasteless, LOTS of fried onions. Soup tasteless, 'seaweed' greasy. Watery tasteless main and rice solid........l could go on. A complete waste of money!! Avoid at all costs!!

Sadly food was not very good. Quarter duck bland and out of date cucumber. Special chow mien tasteless dry and anything other than special. Roast pork and rice was inedible. Hugely Disappointing.

Order was wrong food not even added to the order (2 dishes )and also a dish missing so 3 mains down it was a large order over £80 called to rectify the situation as per the website requests chap was rude and unhelpful same person that took the order and re read it back like it was a race against time. Basically tough luck. To summarise not enough food to feed us due to staff incompetence and overcharged as items missing.

Friendly staff, quick service, however when we got back to the holiday lodge an egg fried rice was missing from the order. The food was mediocre at best. Greasy, burnt bits in rice, uni glow sweet/sour sauce. Curry sauce that was also orange?! We would not return-sorry :(

Appalling service. Food tasty.. Over 2 hour wait for delivery, told be hour, then blaming drivers, when drivers say it was because they were sent back and forth between 2 towns, organised chaos in delivery. Offered a £10 refund for big order, slap in face. Normally good service, this time, appalling, order at 750pm, food not arriving till 10pm.... Not acceptable, no phone calls from them with updates, then fobbed off with lies, when calling back. Not a way treat locals

Excellent service with all staff so friendly. Been twice to collect food and it was all delicious. We will return many times!

While on holiday in Portreach, we decided to treat ourselves to a Chinese takeaway for dinner. After some consideration, we opted for Tung Sing and placed an order for eight delectable dishes. The gentleman at the counter was exceptionally friendly and even recommended a few dishes for us to try. The preparation of our order was impressively swift, taking just around 10 minutes. It was a display of remarkable efficiency. Once we sat down to enjoy our meal, the response from all my friends was unanimous - it was absolutely delicious! Each person had their personal favorites: one raved about the pineapple duck, while others couldn't get enough of the sweet and sour chicken. As for me, I found the black bean beef particularly delightful. Overall, we were all highly satisfied with the portion sizes as well. To our delight, the lady owner went above and beyond by surprising us with two bags of prawn crackers, which was a delightful added touch. We truly appreciated the gesture. Based on our wonderful experience, we wholeheartedly recommend Tung Sing to anyone in the area seeking fantastic Chinese cuisine.

Food ok but felt ripped off by the £15 minimum card payment, put me off a return visit anytime soon, finished up buying food I didn’t want

We thought we'd try 'Tung Sing' for a change, so we ordered our takeaway by telephone for collection, giving well over an hours notice. On collection, our order had to be taken again as they'd lost our phone order, this re-order was constantly being disrupted by the phone ringing with other customers  placing orders, taking up even more of our time & becoming even more of an aggravation. We were disappointed to be kept waiting, hanging around for half an hour after our pre-arranged collection time, which is simply not good enough & not a great start. A small discount as a sincere apology on the bill may have helped to alleviate some of this irritation. However, on arrival, it's made clear that nothing is complimentary other than a very small bag of prawn crackers accompanying a large order. Everything comes at a price here, including  'fortune cookies' & 'plastic forks'!  We ordered 6 dishes and with the exception of 'Chicken Satay' & Sweet & Sour Chicken Balls', which were both lovely & flavoursome, everything else was bland & underwhelming especially the 'Chop Suey'. The staff were friendly & polite, and our food was hot when we arrived back home.  The restaurant seemed popular with locals nipping in & out with their orders, so our 'long wait' could be put down one off mistake on  their behalf! It's hard to rate as our food that was good 'was good' and it was hot, however given our over-all customer service experience & the part order that tasted bland which couldn't be considered average (3☆) a 2/5☆ is a fair review rating in our opinion.

Beef curry shrimp curry chow mien and lemon chicken, could I pick a favourite??? NO all delicious. Very busy place and can understand why. Definitely another to try

Don’t buy food from Here we live 30 miles away and came for my birthday here stayed locally and the food was awful in fact I never complain but I even rang them to explain the disgusting taste of the shredded beef it’s was like vinegar and so bad I couldn’t eat any of it definitely do not recommend my wife’s food wasn’t any better avoid avoid. On phone they never even cared about my complaint not bothered about the money just an absolute waste of my time With my wife on my birthday wouldn’t want someone to have it spoilt by this place

First night of our holiday in Porthreath and thought we’d try the local chinese. Hope’s not very high as had some bad ones in Cornwall. However… it was fabulous and exceeded our expectations. Had salt and chilli ribs, pancakes rolls, king prawn Szechuan, rice, chicken chow mein and salt and chilli chips. Was really lovely- thanks to the chief! Highly recommend yum xxx

Staying on holiday in Portreath. After day on beach, nobody wanted to cook or go out for a meal/takeaway. Phoned Tung Sin, lady who took order was friendly, helpful & professional. Order arrived well within quoted time & was hot. Meal for 4 adults & 2 children. Wife, who doesn,t like Chinese much was very happy to see mushroom omelette on menu, but thinks customers should be good that it comes with onions- she picked them out. Also liked sweet & sour chicken balls, a sauce was separate. Rest of us, who do like Chinese were more than happy. Ok, so not the best Chinese meal that we have ever had, but certainly not the worst. If on holiday in Portreath again, would definitely use again.

Like all Chinese takeaways nowadays the quality has slipped. Some of the dishes were nice, others were inedible. The chicken used is so cheap and nasty, but the beef was good. A real mixed bag.

Even after the mixed reviews we gave this place a try whilst staying in the village. The meal tasty and we all enjoyed it. Yes compared to some Chinese meals the sauces are a bit thin but this does not take away from the taste.

Staying locally for the week we ordered a takeaway. Food is extremely poor quality and taste. Sweet and sour sauce taste like warm vinegar and was fluorescent in colour. Avoid this place it was a waste of money

I’ve not been well recently food has not been easy…Sunday night could not fancy anything..My wife suggested Tung Sing I looked at the menu and fancied the crispy Aromatic Duck Starter we ordered the large & a helpful friendly lady took our order 40 mins and we had our delivery by another friendly nice lady. All I can say is the duck was cooked to perfection the pancakes lovely and the salad fresh crispy and looked so appetising. We appreciated it so much Thank You Mrs Tung Sing xx

Long wait and poor quality food. The chow main tasted like it had been boiled (over boiled), crispy duck was not crispy and the sauce in the beef and black bean was the consistency of water. We could not eat this food - it went...

We had a takeaway while staying at Gwelan Mor and the food was excellent. Delivered on time which is always a big bonus. If we ever visit again we will definitely be using them again. Thank you for such a lovely meal😊

Staff could be a bit friendlier instead of being very brusque but the food is lovely. I prefer this Cantonese/Chinese takeaway compared to anywhere else within a few miles.

We were lucky enough to get a a few days away at Gwen al Mor and on the first night after a long drive we couldn’t face cooking, so we thought we’d order a Chinese. Wish we hadn’t. Really wasn’t very good at all.

Have just ordered from from here and finished what we could! Seaweed was worse seaweed I've ever tasted. The bang bang chicken was defrosted Iceland's chicken strups with home made sea food sauce and considering I ask for bang bang chicken it's not even close!...

Have used this Chinese takeaway on prior visits to Portreath but this year seemed to be struggling with the high level of demand created by staycations and many of the pubs/restaurants having limited food offerings as a result of the pingdemic. As a result orders...

We had a selection of dishes to feed four and found all the dishes to be not up to the standard we were expecting. Strangely they don't serve chinese dumplings. Will not go there again. Certainly would not recommend.

Twice I had the delivery driver call me ahead of time to let me know she's coming so that I can go outside wait for her in the cold weather to get my food whilst she sits in the car! So cheeky of her!

I absolutely would not recommend this establishment.Poor customer service to the point of arguing with me.The food did not include all of the ingredients in it as described on the menu; the food was bland, watery and the worst take-away I have ever tasted. I cannot believe I paid for this experience.Please do not order from this restaurant. You will only regret it.

We ordered a takeaway and each had a different dish. My dad said it was the best ever Chinese curry he had ever eaten! Really do recommend ordering from here.

Mr Swallocks and I were spending a week in Portreath with the family. It was his birthday during the week and since he is partial to a Chinese, we ordered from Tung Sing. We might have ventured further afield, but what with Old Mother Swallock's gammy knee and all that, we stayed local.This turned out to be a poor choice,The duck was very dry, though it was served with plenty of plum sauce, pancakes, cucumber and spring onion.The Kung Po chicken was nice, but could have been spicier. The same could have been said of my beef dish.Old Mother Swallocks had the mini spring rolls which were truly terrible. Consisting mostly of pastry, the only good thing that could be said of them is that some of the pastry was cooked. There was barely any filling; the result being a soggy, disappointing and tasteless mess.

My title says it all really. It was bad. Can't really say much more than that. Thankfully only visiting area as wouldnt go back.

We have just returned from a week at Gwel an Mor and didn't feel comfortable eating out, due to the COVID-19 situation.So we opted for a take away from here.Ordered on the phone and collected it within 20 minutes!Very, very tasty and thoroughly recommended.

Have used this Chinese a couple of time’s and always had fairly long waiting time’s. Ordered last night and after waiting 45 minutes we got home to find that our order was completely wrong and that we had also been over charged for it!! Rang the shop who were extremely rude, declined to give any sort of refund! Safe to say I won’t be using them again!

Always a gamble when trying somewhere new for the first time but we were blown away by the quality and quantity of the takeaway food. We phoned the order through & were told to collect at 6pm. Even with the restrictions of COVID & social distancing the meal was ready on time. We all enjoyed the food, especially the beef chow mien & sweet & sour chicken. Thank you Tung Sing - we’ll be back soon.

Ordered a selection from the menu to be delivered during the storm, it was a welcomed feast and would recommend them to anyone in the area.

Go occasionally and there chips are normally good, however today they were rank, dry, full of eye's. Chicken chow mein was ok but chicken a bit artificial.

We sat and waited an hour and half for our order, There was no explanation or apologies for the delay. It seemed very disorganised. And the food was nothing special either. Quite disappointing.

We had a takeaway from here but found it to be a big disappointment. The food was bland with the chicken with mushrooms and the beef with mushrooms tasting of nothing but salt. The chicken wing starters were just plain chicken even though we had ordered the chilli version.

Was looking for some food as we found the fish chip shop was shut. Found this place and they produce some good feed in double quick time. The meal wasn’t the best Chinese I’ve had but certainly was eatable and I would use the, again.

The Tung Sing Chinese Takeaway serves the best food for miles. Always fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. The service is great and friendly.

Ordered via phone for collection and was given an approximate wait of 30 minutes, got there 30 minutes after we called and the order was just being finished for us. There was plenty of food, the portion sizes were good and it all tasted very nice. The chilli spare ribs were particularly good!

Order was mixed up and got delivered wrong items which got taken back to the restaurant to then be told that we cannot have the food that we ordered and paid for via delivery. Once we got the food sorted it was great but was such a hassle to get our order sorted that we will not by from there again.

Had a set meal for three. Plenty of food except that they forgot the barbecue ribs and we had to go back for them. No quibble about supplying them. Food was ok but not a lot of flavour. Sweet and sour sauce was a garishly synthetic looking pink colour..

We had a tasty & generous portion size take-away one evening whilst on holiday. Recommend eating here.

Really enjoyed our traditional first night takeaway at Tung Sing. Cracking little Chinese with lots of usual choice. We really enjoyed all our meals which were plentiful and very tasty.

We thought we would try a different takeaway this evening for a change. After reading the reviews for a few in our immediate area I stumbled across the Tung Sing which was about 4 miles away, we thought we would give it a try anyway, we were certainly not disappointed.

First experience of this takeaway in Portreath & we weren’t disappointed. A huge menu, with equally huge portions all of which were very tasty. Ordered over the phone & collected within 30 minutes, great service on what seemed a very busy Saturday night.

Definitely the best Chinese in Cornwall, superb tasty food at reasonable price,the chicken curry is nice and spicy, and ribs are tasty too.Highly recommended.

Nothing special, just large amounts of fairly bland Chinese food. The dim sum selection was poor with ribs and chicken dry and sesame toasts too greasy. The rest was acceptable. Short wait with friendly service but rather average food.

People let me tell you Tung Sing my Taste Buds where singing whow yep you guys got my gold star tonight, spare ribs in plum sauce and Tung house special such a refreshing change chicken balls Yay nice the sweet and sour sauce needs to be a little more Mmm pineapple like not so maggies style but you get my Order thankyou X

This was our 1st time, the menu is really big and loads of choice. We only had to wait 15 minutes to cook it all fresh. It tasted great, will go back.

In the true tradition of wanting to support local business which deserve a positive mention I can not recommend Tung Sing enough. We have over time ordered from most avaible Chinese takeaways in the area in the hope of finding the best one and I think Tung Sing is just that. The food is tasty, relatively cheap in comparison to some other take aways, the portions are large and also original in style. So it’s great tasting and yet won’t destory your wallet. Some take aways don’t often meet expectations but having been a regular here now for over 8 years the company always provides great food. Please simply try it, you won’t be dispapointed. The service is always super friendly also, which is an added bonus some companies fail to see.

Quick service, good food, easy to walk to if you are staying in Portreath. Far quicker service than the chippy.

Popped down one evening whilst staying at Gwel an Mor for a takeaway and it was really good and very hot. The large spring roll was the best I have had and we really enjoyed our meal. We didn't have to wait very long even though it was busy and the staff were very polite, would visit again.

We have only just started to use this restaurant and have been delighted with the taste and flavours a lovely treat. It is a takeaway.

Second time of having a take away from here and it was great! We had special curry and chips, Tung Sing Special with rice and prawn crackers, fortune cookies as well. All was freshly cooked and piping hot, generous portions and tasted grand. Come in plastic containers. Staff are friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend. In the Summer or at weekends it may be best to phone in your order as they do get very busy. Saying that we went tonight at 6 and only waited 25 mins, so not so bad. Don't mind the wait when it is freshly cooked rather than re-heated. Give it a try, think you will be pleased.

Went there last evening and placed menu choice to collect. Never bothered to check my order. Came home to find my prawns in black bean sauce , was certainly not black bean sauce. Something watery and tasteless, No pancake started I had ordered and payed for . My friend had crispy duck, not crispy and her main was also in a watery sauce . The first and last time . Also saw I man return his order as it was incorrect . Mine was correct just not good . Would certainly not recommend this take away .

Ordered a delivery for the family, really friendly service on the phone and the delivery arrived very quickly. food was hot and it was the best Chinese I have had in a long time. Great quality meat and good portion sizes. Thank you :) would recommend to anyone in the area.

We stayed at Gwel an Mor and popped down for a takeaway on Monday evening. The food was great. Well cooked, flavoursome and with very generous sized portions at super reasonable prices. Would certainly recommend.

Read really good reviews but so disappointed with food. On a positive note the portions are big. That’s it. The quality of the meat is not good, it’s greasy and not full of flavours.

Mary and her family are a delight, and it is open all year round. The food is always cooked to order and piping hot - the sweet and sour chicken is yummy as is the special fried rice.

Avoid this place at all costs .

Had a Thursday night treat whilst on holiday. A menu for 3 plus an extra easily fed 4 with some left over. It was nice food but they forgot the ribs so we had to go back. That said they sorted it quickly. Enjoyed it

We ordered a set meal for 3 plus a spring roll. There was plenty for 4 of us, and some left over for breakfast. The food itself was very tasty and enjoyable. A very good takeaway indeed.

Had a take away from here while staying in the area, it was ready for the time they said when we collected (25 mins), food quality was good, could tell it was cooked fresh and everything was piping hot, can recommend if you are staying in the area and you fancy a Chinese take away.

We love Mary and the crew! Delicious fresh food every time, nothing is ever too much trouble and we are well looked after. Best Chinese around for sure!

Sólo una toma de distancia de aquí, todo fue como esperábamos y no nos decepcionó, la comida era tan buena como en cualquier restaurante chino nos visita cuando en casa, muy contento y volveré de nuevo.

Tenía una llevar aquí en una noche húmeda de miércoles y la calidad de la comida era estupenda. Llena de sabor y grandes porciones.

Pedimos el menú de 2. Una mezcla de todo. . . pelotas de pollo bastante agradable, carne insípida, bean coles bastante marrón y desagradable. La peor parte fue el color con un diseño chillón salsas que eran insípido y antinatural. No me gusta en absoluto. Una pena, porque estábamos deseando.

We ordered the set menu for 2 It was terrible the worst Chinese I've ever had, everything was very greasy/oily !!!!!!!! The sesame toast was just a mush of grease, the beef was tough, the chicken and mushroom was swimming in oil, the chicken in batter was soggy, the whole thing was quite tasteless !!!!! Most of it went in the bin, and on top of all that it made me feel ill all night.

The staff at Tung Sing are always friendly and welcoming,and the food is delicious. They are open six-days a week (closed Tuesday) and are open until 9.30pm on each day.

Had Chinese here a few times and it's always been ok but the last time I got really ill and have never been back !

Would rather a pot noodle that eat here again. Very greasy and unpredictable. Bit into an onion ring and the amount of grease was unreal.

Yet another fantastic meal at the Tung Sing. Steaming hot delicious noodles and rice. Very tasty sauces I recommend this takeout to anyone who loves great Chinese food. An extensive menu with a good range of vegetarian choices. The kids absolutely love the chow meins, the vegetable Singapore rice noodle are fab and the satay sauce has a real kick.
