China Garden in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Today it is just a 2. chopped fatty duck instead of shredded. Woody spring onions that you can't even eat because it's like chewing a piece of wood, over fried spring rolls! We were so looking forward to coming back here as we had the best food last time. Sorry but won't be back.

We have been eating here for over 30 years and over the last year the food has gone down hill. We are lazy and keep trying it again. Just to tell you. It has no taste, it is horrible

I love China. I love Chinese food, and especially Chinese takeaway. I love Chinese people. They are friendly and adorable. This Chinese takeaway, however, though it may be conveniently situated in the centre of Newlyn, is full of inconveniences and lies. Let me explain. First off, they don't take cards. Second, they don't do delivery. But that's the least of its issues: Food-wise, the Prawn Crackers are stale and yellow. The beef is bland and tough. The chicken was dry and inedible. The only thing really going for it was the BBQ spare ribs, but it's not difficult to get spare ribs right. All in all, I was very disappointed, and would instead recommend getting a taeaway from Sea Palace in Penzance or Dynasty in Rosudgeon. It's a shame, because I really wanted to enjoy what I was eating and write a good review, but there is a lot they need to work on and improve upon if they are going to live up to the standards of people who actually have discernment and taste buds, and are not just buying a late-night drunk takeaway after a session at the local pub.

Ordered for 7 people on phone. All ready when we got there, all food correct and was very good.

As a Chinese visiting from Singapore, I have to say that I didn’t expect to have such authentic and delicious Chinese food in Cornwall. It was a pleasant surprise. Substantial portions at very reasonable prices, I highly recommend this restaurant! Venture beyond the usual Western Chinese dishes, to try some authentic dishes like King Prawn Fuyong eggs, stir fried beef with spring onions and ginger, squid with green peppers and black beans sauce. 没想到这里还能找到那么正宗好吃的中餐！

Fast service. Giant portions that are really well cooked snd not greasy. Was a really pleasant suprise. I recommend the sweet and sour chicken balls.

This place was great. The lovely young man that took our order was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was amazing, tasty, not greasy or haevy as with some Chinese takeaways and hot. We paid less than £15 for two of us. I highly recommend the shrimp curry, loads of shrimps in it. We didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes on a Saturday night despite ordering over the counter. We took a menu and left in our holiday cottage. What a great find, will definitely use again. We struggle where we live to get a decent Chinese takeaway just wish we lived nearer!

I had read the reviews about the owners being rude but thought they can’t be that bad if you’re collecting a take away. Well how wrong was I!! Never EVER have I been spoken to like that and I would NEVER go back!

Just picked up food from here and I'm sorry to say it was awful we had to chuck it straight in the bin as it was sooo greasy

We were staying locally, so decided to have a takeaway as the weather was lousy to venture out anywhere. Well, we wish we hadn’t! The quality was poor at best, very sloppy with not much flavour. Three of us had duck with chef’s special sauce. The sauce was basically half a dozen blobs of some sort of jam thrown on the top, and the duck was more like minced duck, and not slices! The fried rice was the usual rubbish, as if soya sauce had been poured into it to make it that uninviting brown colour! All in all a total letdown.

It's unfortunate I have to write this review.... I have been part of the Newlyn community for 33 years. Lived there for 27 years and am a 20 minute walk away from there now. Usually we love your food... I even choose to walk to you and walk back with the food rather than order from other Chinese establishments which provides a delivery service. BUT I have started to become frustrated as the quality I have received the past 4 times has been EXTREMELY POOR. I even mention on my 3rd time I ordered that the chips did not seem fresh and could you please make sure they're fresh please. I even apologised myself for complaining because I do not like to complain. The person on the end of the phone even apologised... unfortunately this was not corrected and if anything standards got worse... again this is a review I really didn't want to write... but I do hope I will be taken notice of this time round and the standards are back to the way you USED to be which was the BEST chinese in Newlyn and pz.

Best Chinese in Newlyn, authentic dishes and plenty to choose from, phone your order in or rock up if you don't mind waiting. Set meals are a bargain and delicious. In fact it's all reasonably priced! Cash only though so bear that in mind. Go on treat yourself and make your tummy happy 😉

Honestly the BEST Chinese takeout we’ve ever had. The food was unbelievably tasty and the staff were lovely. We eat a lot of Chinese food in London and now wish we lived in Newlyn so that this was our local takeout!!

We come to Cornwall 2 or 3 times a year and have not found a decent Chinese so far,,,, up until this evening!!! The Canton beef was extremely tasty and beautifully cooked beef and the chicken with cashew nuts was equally as tender,,,, at last we have found our Chinese takeaway!!

As chinese takeaways go it's not the worst. But I wouldn't go again. The meat in all dishes was err! chewy. The chips were disgusting the had been recooked and maybe even recooked again very hard and the bits that weren't hard were chewy. The boiled rice was a dry lump and sticky in middle

We live in Newlyn, Cornwall and decided to try our one and only Chinese take away which is China Garden, down near the fishing harbour. It is take away only, cash payments, no cards. There is a large menu and they are happy to take telephone orders. I was told the food would be ready in 10 minutes, that's about my walking time to the shop and sure enough when I got there it was. We ordered a set meal for two and this came with a variety of Chicken, King Prawn and Beef meals as well as Special Fried Rice and Prawn Crackers. The portions were plenty enough for two people, colourful and delicious. Service at the counter was quick and very friendly. The hardworking family that runs this place are here six nights a week from 5:30 pm until 11:30pm. It is closed on Mondays. We will definitely be visiting again.

Better than expected. We read some negative reviews but took the plunge. Located more or less in the centre of Newlyn. Don’t let the shabby exterior put you off. The food was rather good, curry for me, chop suey for my wife and it was fine. Very reasonably priced compared to back home.

was using this take away most weekend for a long while as they do a very good value set meal for 1 how ever the table have turned on this visit order my normal set meal for 1 gone home to my disappointment the fry rice was greasy onion ring hard as were the chips and chicken balls so as you do I rang to complain ask for refund as the meal not really touch at all would not give refund so took it back in person agree on a replacement but for another time week later we had it and was as bad if not worst then before I did use this take away most weeks for a long time but they never care that I was a regular most places would give you a lovely greeting if you are a regular or not really feel my custom has been abuse p.s as if they gave me the same meal back but just reheated it iv up loaded the photo of this meal

Comprar pollo frito arroz y pollo al curry. Cuando abrí el cartón el pollo parecía dudosa, no como pollo suele esperar a ver. Que parezca cubos de goma y sin duda no separar como pollo normalmente hace. Correoso, esponjosa grossness. Si esto es muy sospechoso 100% real y no un pollo barato procesados basura. No podía comer nada.El servicio es terrible, ni siquiera un gracias cuando nos retiramos con su efectivo. Más deprimente de transacción que he hecho en un rato. Sin duda no es recomendable.

Camarones chop suey" al platillo era sosa y le faltaba profundidad de sabor principalmente debido a pobres más ingredientes cocinados sin pizca de aderezos. El agua del grifo en casa tiene más cuerpo, vergonzoso y lento cocinar un domingo por la noche. Mis socios de arroz frito tenía un pelo que compres al instante incomibles, conducta alarmantemente lento e irrespetuoso. Las patatas fritas eran soggier que una toalla de playa a la izquierda en la lluvia. Nunca comer aquí a menos que quiera ser tomado como una taza! ! ! !

We tend to pop here when the girls are tired and need a pick me up. the food is yummy. Best Chinese in town in our opinion. Recommend the lemon chicken - the girls' fave. I love the seaweed!

Once again, I cannot give credit to the China Garden enough. Once a week we order the same meal, the quality and freshness are always there, week in, week out. Always professional and expertly cooked.

Gave this place a chance as it is our nearest Chinese Takeaway. Never again! Greasy,greasy,greasy. There was nothing that resembled a Chinese Meal. Who can wreck fried rice for goodness sake?Probably the best bit was the presence of bean sprouts in the pancake rolls.

First meal from the China Garden and was very impressed. We have another local firm favourite but this has been relegated now. Ordered by phone in advance and collected at the stated time. All of the food was hot and fresh. Can’t wait for the next time
