Tulip Restaurant in Darlington

We visited here tonight for the first time, we had two amazing mains (the lamb was literally falling apart on the fork it was so tender) that were excellent sized portions, served piping hot and a garlic naan that was also generously sized. All food cooked fresh and to taste, the staff were very observant and lovely to chat to. We will definitely be coming back soon.

Just left tulip. Five of us in total. Kids had chicken nuggets, so they do kids meals too. Had a good meal, enjoyed it, good naans, good currys (we had a tikka masala for instance). New manager was great, helpful, sorted any issues quickly. We'll be back!

Poppadoms, classic onion bhajis to start with meat (presume lamb, couldn't really tell) dopiza with pilau rice and a naan for the main. All dishes were at the bottom end of 'meh.' the rice smelled odd, had a chemical fragrance to it so we didn't eat it! The bhajis were very spicy, too much so for my liking and unusual in my experience and the condiments that came with the poppadoms were very odd! Suffice to say, they weren't touched... The smell of them saw to that! Akbar Dynasty (the restaurant on that site until they closed) was, the issues that ultimately shut them down aside, my favourite Indian for a long time. I was hoping Tulip would be just as good with the food but, alas, it looks like it is not to be! We tried, but I don't think we will be back.

We have been visiting this restaurant for about 3 months now ‘ The food is always consistent’ My husband as lamb sag ‘which is always cooked to perfection’ I have the lamb bhuna ‘ Which again is perfect ‘ We have also tried the mixed grill ‘ Lamb chops ‘ Biryanis ‘ Rice naans and also the chapati’s Again always spot on ‘ The staff are all really welcoming’ It’s a very friendly place’ I would definitely recommend this restaurant’ it’s the best we have found ‘ We recommend to friends and family and they have all enjoyed it ‘ KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK’👍

Called in on the off chance, staff were courteous and polite. The menu seemed quite extensive although I'm not usually adventurous and choose the same thing. My son and I enjoyed our choice of food, the prices were on par with other Indian restaurants. I'd recommend and if in the area would return.

Food was amazing we have visited this place many a time but only twice since take over. The only thing i am disappointed in since take over is the atmosphere isn’t the same the staff and manager aren’t as friendly or as host friendly as the old owners. They would greet you with big smiles the atmosphere was jubilant and busy and when you left they would greet you at the door open the door for you and thank you for your service and do this every time without fail. This time they don’t seem as pleased to see you and not even a goodbye when you leave. The atmosphere seems a little cold.

Well what can I say. We have been here a number of times since they reopened following visits to the area (of which we are unfamiliar) staff are always amazingly helpful and friendly and the food as always exceptional. We will return without a doubt.

Awesome service from the moment we arrived. The food was truly amazing. The starter a meat mix grill, which came out sizzling! The curries for mains were Butter Chicken and Gosht Dopiaza Karahi... both were out of this world! The tandoori roti’s were fresh, crispy and a generous size. The other table had the family naan and it was massive! Will visit again.... and again... and probably again! Keep up the fabulous service!
