Horrible Indian food I’ve ever eaten in my life!

By far the nicest restaurant for a lovely selection of a taste of authentic Asian food. I would highly recommend you must try this place. Great food and great hospitality. They just made us an amazing Christmas meal for 8 people was excellent 👌. Thankyou again.

Always a welcoming atmosphere and the food is excellent with a mix of traditional and modern style’s.

Terrible meal, tasteless and watery, every meal looked the same and took forever to be served.

Lockdown weekend so decided to try a takeaway from here.Ordering on line was simple and quick and collection was easy to arrange and prompt to collect. The food itself was really tasty especially the Railway Lamb, the pickle tray and the onion Bhajis which were the best we’ve had.Easily recommend this place to anyone who likes great authentic Indian food, 20% off also helps but at full price still value for money.

This was our first visit since “lockdown” and were delighted to find that the food and service were up to the usual high standard. There’s something on the menu to satisfy everyone’s taste and I’m particularly fond of the biryani which is cooked in the authentic way in a pot with a pastry top to keep the rice lovely and moist.

The 'First class' railway lamb was the best Indian dish i have ever had and highly recommend it to anyone wanting more than just a takeaway dish. The pickle tray was a lovely addition. Thank you.

Ordered a delivery. It's nearly an hour late, and still no sign of it. Phoned the restaurant and they just fobbed us off. Very disappointed. Update: eventually arrived, and was at least delicious!

Ordered takeaway, absolutely amazing there's nothing I would complain about. The food came about 10 minutes earlier then estimated which was an added bonus. There was a great mix of flavours will definitely be ordering again

Called in here on a Wednesday night (our first time) with my better half and decided to take advantage of the £9.99 one starter, one main and one side menu, the service, and food was outstanding! Honestly the tastiest Indian food I have had in Darlington (we have tried them all) The Balti was fantastic we will be back soon

Ordered this evening for a takeaway and I was thoroughly impressed. Food was of the highest standard and the food arrived quickly and was hot!! The quality of food is second to none and received the online discount. Fantastic food, fantastic people and over the moon with the quality of food.

From walking in the waiter made us feel really welcome give us plenty of time to look over the menu whilst do our drink order, he brought our poppadoms and pickle tray out as he took the food order, a chicken tikka massala, chicken bhuna, chicken rogan josh 2 rices and 2 garlic naans food was served red hot presented beautiful, tasted delicious 4 alcoholic drinks 2 soft drinks all for £60.Our waiter was Aziz he was very professional whilst also having a bit of banter and a giggle with customers a great member of the team, will definitely return

I come here every time I come to visit my parents. I have eaten in and had takeaways, the food if always amazing, tasty. The service is good.. definitely a place to go!

Managed to accommodate a group of 30 on a fixed menu. Food was excellent and more than enough to satisfy the most hungry. Salek looked after us really well and was very entertaining. Would definitely recommend

We visited the Duke of Bombay for our daughters 18th birthday with our family. The staff went out of their way to make it a special night with some lovely personal touches. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. It has a real family feel and our children were made to feel very welcome. This is the third time that we have been here and will definitely be back again.

I had high hopes.. The taste was no different from a dish that one would get from a takeaway.

Went after work on a week day. Very few customers so got fast service and although its not Indian but Bangladeshi food. It was still good made to an Asian palate in terms of spice. The lamb on the bone was great.

We went to Dukes cafe and as per health discount Website,NHS staff are entitled to 10percent discount but when we asked for it we were told it is something they don't do and when I showed on the website,we were told we need to order two main dishes separately apart from snacks.This was not mentioned in the website. Anyways we paid the whole amount,the food was good though but be cautious for Ur visit as this has been an unfair experience for us.

I can honestly say this is the nicest Indian I've had in a very long time, lovely interior, great staff and even better food, will definitly return soon and recommend to friends A+++++++

Despite visiting early evening on a Sunday, this place was busy. It felt a bit chilly on arrival but warmed up in time. Service was generally friendly but there were no smiles from the chap who brought our food. We ordered a range of curries and they were certainly strong on flavour, however the food seemed rather lukewarm and my king prawns were on the soft side which concerned me and affected my enjoyment of the meal. Thankfully I experienced no after-effects! Although we had some reservations about our meals - there were enough interesting choices to warrant another visit.

Food is good but the service is really slow.

The food was nice but it took a very long time to get served. We had to ask several times for the bill.

Food never fails to disappoint plus top notch service so what more can you ask for? Chicken Hatkora and Lamb Madras were absolutely delicious and we left full and happy. No hesitation in highly recommending and needless to say we will be back soon.

Visit in June with 3 friends and we all ordered different dishes. All of us loved the food and the service was excellent and we all gave a well earned 10% tip which says it all . A must for Indian food lovers and the best in town

Orderd a takeaway last night ( as was recommend by a friend) when arrived sum ov our mains had splilled into bag phoned them up and they couldn't be more helpful sent a whole new takeaway and it was absolutely gorgeous, will defanitly be returning

Honestly the best Indian I've ever had. I cant handle spice so got the prawn korma. I took the left overs home and had then for lunch the next day and it tasted just as good

I have eaten here several times and loved it,so I thought I would try a takeaway as their was a 10%discount but be aware you get a 75 % discount on your portions. I paid £25.72 for 2 meals a rice and burnt nam. Please save your self some money and go elsewhere. I rang to complain and was told that's what you get!

Excellent chicken tikka starter and the best ever lamb tikka masala, served with aromatic pilau rice.

Ourselves and two friends re- visited Duke Bombay Cafe for another great night at our favourite Indian restaurant in Darlington. Sid the owner and his brilliant staff have over a number of years worked hard to deliver exemplary flavoursome food and tonight was no exception. Everybody in our party was complimentary about the food and service and would have no hesitation in recommending the dishes we had eg : Chicken Hatkora, Lamb Madras and Vegetable Curry. Excellent night all round...we will be back.

I've only been to this place twice, but it's by far my favourite Indian restaurant! The tandoori scallops beautiful, the coconut rice and Peshawari naan (yes I have a sweet tooth) are fabulous!

We went this week with friends for the fire tie and it was lovely! The staff were friendly and very helpful as our friend wanted an onion free meal due to an allergy - when it came he thoroughly enjoyed it.

I am allergic to onions and the staff created a meal without ... the service was first class ... thoroughly recommend.

Went here with some friends from work, had the chilli masala what a lovely meal, very hot and I loved it. Had the cheese naan bread, the waiter was very attentive and patient and we will be back. The place was clean and tidy.

The restaurant was quite busy when went on a Tuesday night. I ordered king prawns to start and was surprised when it came that there where only 2 prawns. For the main course i picked one of their speciality lamb dishes but was disappointed at it was very bland.

Food is great, service is terrible. They were late for our reservation. Took 15 minutes to ask if we wanted a drink. Took an hour for our starters. Shame as the food is always good.

Can honestly say I had the best curry ever. Three couples and every meal was excellent. Good friendly service but not over the top. Will defiantly visit again. Only negative, toilet facilities could do with a bit of attention.

Having visited Darlington and various Curry Houses this has to be the best I’ve eaten in and would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone, menu is good but I like naga in my hot curries but this request was accepted readily

Absolutely the best Indian restaurant in Darlington, Don’t go past it.

Not having been to an Indian restaurant for a while we decided to book a table at the Duke Bombay Cafe for an early evening meal. We arrived and were shown to a table by a welcoming waiter. The atmosphere was relaxing and not too bright, the tables were a reasonable size and the seats comfortable. The drinks order was taken quickly along with a request for papadums, and these arrived quickly. There was a good choice on the menu and the waiter was very happy to describe are recommend dishes which were not familiar to us. We settled on main courses with side dishes, rice and naan bread. The food was a little late arriving but well worth the wait. I had a chicken korai which was delicious. Portion sizes were good and the food was served good and hot. I will certainly return to this restaurant and would also happily recommend it.

This is a reletavly new place located off Duke Street Darlington. The staff are very nice and welcoming and the restaurant is bigger then you think. The food isn't just normal Indian food you would get everywhere, it's authentic food that is actually eaten in India. You need to try this place, if you fancy a change from the norm. Something special and unique. Prices are reasonable.Will be coming back

It’s a shame to start a restaurant review with a headline about the lack of service but in a competitive market place it’s simply not enough just to provide great food.

My friends and I had arranged a get together, a friend who lives in London was back home and wanted to try Duke Bombay. I've been in the past a couple of times and it was quite nice.

This was simply the best Indian meal I've ever had. Would 100% recommend the chef special lamb shank - it should win some sort of award! Cooked to perfection with just the right about of spice and plenty of flavour! The service was second to none and the whole meal was worth every single penny. I even left a hefty tip because I was so impressed. Amazing.

I recently visited this restaurant with work colleagues. I have a milk protein allergy, due to a bad experience at an Indian restaurant in Hartlepool and since decided not to take any chances, staying away from a lot of restaurants. This restaurant was recommended to me and I am so glad I went. I contacted the restaurant in advance regarding my allergy. I was told staff would help me with the menu on the night of our visit. I need not have worried. A lovely member of staff, Sid, talked me through the menu. So much to chose from. I chose a starter and a main course after having poppadoms and dips. The food was fresh and cooked to perfection, the best lamb biryani I have tasted. Thank you Sid for making sure my meals were prepared, cooked separately and served before other meals at the table. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant, worth the trip from Hartlepool.

Been here loads we all love the food and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The management know how to look after customers. It’s not just an Indian the food is unique and varied and lovely. Try it for yourself and see 👌👍🙂

We're spoilt for choice with curry houses in Darlington, but Duke Bombay is the best of the lot.

A pretty good laid back Indian. Young guys running the show. As a group we were well looked after. A diverse,interesting options available from usual Indian fare.

We go to this place regularly and it is generally good.

I have eaten here a few time now and often get a takeaway. Service, food are always excellent, railway Lamb is the best I have ever tasted. Highly recommended. Parking is easy and it is town center located.

I've had numerous takeaways from Duke over the last few years and they never fail to be excellent. The staff are great, very friendly and genuine. Not your traditional Indian restaurant in terms of looks and feel, and it's all the better for it, a pleasant change. I've booked a table three times and took friends and everyone has loved it. Best in Darlington by far.

Lovely Indian food with a bit of a twist. Duke Bombay has both traditional and contemporary food. I'd highly recommend the scallops. Lovely setting too. Old building which has preserved some lovely features. A new favourite restaurant for myself and my partner

Went for a curry with friends the food was excellent. The surroundings were comfortable with a good atmosphere and the staff were fantastic.

I am regular traveller to Darlington and will eat here if I can. Staff are really friendly and offer very good service. The food is fantastic, in particular the Sag Aloo, but working my way through the menu. Have tried other places but always come back!

Went for a meal here before visiting Theatre,Food is fantastic,Staff very friendly.Highly recommend the Railway Lamb,cooked to perfection and tasted great.Downstairs area is spotless however toilets could do with an upgrading.I would recommend to anyone visiting Darlington to visit here.

Visited last night with friends with whom we have a curry every few months. Had a very good meal - and friendly, unobtrusive service. Men had the railway lamb which seemed to go down well; my king prawn massala was superb - liked the fact that I was offered the chance to have the sauce served separately. Sensible portions - usually I’m completely defeated despite a good appetite. Will definitely be back, thank you

This is mine and my partners favourite Indian in Darlington! Lovely decor and friendly efficient staff! Food is gorgeous and is something a bit different, highly recommend the railway lamb!

One of the worst experience we had , never ever will go this restaurant.

Tried this place for the 1st time over the weekend and its AMAZING!! Proper Proper Proper Indian food! Seriously! No nuclear colours of bright red sauces or neon green chutneys. Service was an 80/20 situation - our waiter was fab but he was stretched out serving too many tables. Overall decor was really trendy BUT too many empty walls. Would have been good to add a few contemporary Indian modern art (my opinion). Hope they don't run out of yoghurt :)

Food was lovely ...due to staff shortages service was not good ..it was our first visit to the restaurant ....missed attention to detail normally found in Indian restaurants customer experience not anything to shout about which was a shame ......Will probably try take away ....but food was really nice.

Been here a few times over the last few months , with family and a friend who had just come over from Australia- we couldn't get into the Pizzeria across the road so as sh likes her spicy food thought we would give it a go . The most impressive thing were the starters - which were divine , cooked really well , the portions are large however and after filling up on the these we struggled with the main courses and had to leave a lot of food . There are a lot of lamb dishes so if you like slow cooked or tandoori lamb this is the place for you .
