Tuktuk in Cardiff

This small but inviting Thai restaurant is a gem for takeaway! I decided to try a few dishes: the salt and pepper squid, duck spring rolls, and crispy breaded prawns. Each dish was fantastic, but the squid was the star of the show – tender, perfectly seasoned, and not at all rubbery. The spring rolls were crispy and packed with flavorful duck, and the prawns were deliciously crunchy. The portions were ample, and the food arrived hot and fast. Will definitely come back for more!

Lovely staff, not much atmosphere music was too loud. Felt a little dirty but nice enough. Chicken wings was the best part. Green curry was bland and chicken tough. Over all not bad not great.

It’s very rush for a dinner if you would like to visit with friends. Food and drinks are fabulous but service is a bit rude to rush your customer to finish their meals like eating in fast food shop.

Been previously and the food was brilliant, unfortunately when I have returned it was okay but not quite as good. The cocktails however are quality. When we had finished food the server did ask if we wanted anything else, and when we tried to order a second drink to finish up we were actually asked to leave because a private party was coming in. Not the best service experience to cap off what had up to then been lovely

I can see that this place has good reviews, but honestly, I do not know why. The beef was chewy and disgusting. The chicken had lots of fat on it. The only thing worthwhile was the vegetables. But, spending over £40 I would have expected I could eat something, just rice and vegetables. Still hungry!!! Not sure how people enjoy this food!!’

Visited and ordered the Wing Zap and Gai Med Mamuang. Wing Zap tasted good, however the chicken in the gai med mamuang was very dry. Also the ingredients are very different from what I normally eat in Thailand. 3 cashew nuts on the whole plate and normally not served with carrots and the sauce was very minimum and didn’t taste very good.

I visited tuk tuk a few weeks ago on my trip to Cardiff. Had the most amazing dinner there! The food, service and vibe were just fantastic. Got to try the masaman beef, wing zapp, tom yum prawns and crab fried rice. I don’t think I’ve had such amazing Thai food before. The food had the perfect balance of flavours and heat. The cocktail menu was very well curated, we got to try a few and they were all refreshing and paired brilliantly with the food. For dessert we had the banana cream pie and my mind was blown! I went back the next day just to get another slice of it! It’s rich yet light, not too sweet just perfect! I know I definitely will visit Cardiff again specially to go eat at Tuk Tuk!

Came here on Saturday with a group of 8. Brilliant staff, tasty food, and the best veg spring rolls that I have had. Great that they adapt the pad Thai to make it Vegetarian.

Wanted to try here for ages and it didn’t disappoint. Amazing fresh food and I would eat here over all the chain restaurants!

Totally delicious food and lovely service. We selected 4 different starters so that we could try a bit of each. The chicken satay I've had before and is excellent. We enjoyed a Pad Thai, Masaman curry, Tom yum soup and a prawn dish. We ordered some rice, spicy chips and papaya salad. All was totally amazing and washed down with my favourite Spanish white wine Marina Alta. We all left totally stuffed and needing a lie down! I'm working my way through the menu and will be back soon :o)

Wanted a nice meal without going into the city centre and was not disappointed. Beautiful food in relaxed surroundings . Staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Lovely cocktails too !

Lovely food, just not enough of it for me. I've got a fairly normal appetite but the portion size was very small, I felt a bit expensive for the size.

I collected a take away order, we asked for extra prawns with the Pad Thai but didn’t get any(even though we paid for them) the chicken in the pad Thai was dry and over cooked. The Curry and coconut rice was very nice. The chicken thighs in batter starter was mostly batter and not much chicken inside so just dry and crispy. Overall a very expensive below average meal. I would have messaged directly but no facility to do so.

We went out for my husband’s birthday and had a really delicious meal. The restaurant is small and friendly. Staff were courteous, cheerful and helpful. We will definitely be going back.

Collected for a takeaway on a Friday evening, service was quick and welcoming. Food did take longer than advised but was all delicious!

Whilst in Cardiff this place was mentioned to me to try as it has had some good reviews. The place is a romantic paradise. The interior is cosy and the service was excellent. The lady taking orders was polite and so accommodating. We hadn't booked but they managed to squeeze us in so booking is recommended. The menu caters for everyone, from vegans to meat eaters and has plenty of choice. Now for the food, it was top notch, some of the best Thai food I've ever tasted in the UK and was plenty for the three of us. I had the Thai green curry. It was delicious and had plenty of prawns. The rosti was great and the sticky rice was cooked to perfection. Finally I would strongly recommend a visit.

Second time here and it didn't disappoint. Big authentic fresh flavours, good sized portions and the right level of variety. Certainly doesn't disappoint. Grace who served us was really friendly and helpful even if the statement to my London colleague that the food was better than anything in London was ambitious. (then trying the food the statement had a well founded base and we appreciated the confidence). Hopefully you will now receive hordes of London visitors to compare to their local quisine.

The best Thai meal I’ve had in years. Really good service. Would highly recommend the satay chicken starter and delicious curry.

Firstly, the food here is VERY tasty and I cant recommend it enough. Honestly top marks to the chef. I would definitely order from here again (and again) - though I will likely have it delivered rather than dine-in. Here's why: The dining experience was clumsy and awkward at best. We booked our table in advance and arrived at the restaurant 5 minutes early. We were seated right away which was great, though it was 20 minutes until anyone came to our table and offered us drinks....that was disappointing. The restaurant was only half-full too, so not especially busy. While we sat waiting to be served I got an e-mail from the restaurant saying that our booking had been moved, updating the time to show my reservation was now 5 minutes earlier, as we had arrived 5 minutes before our original reservation time. Strange and pointless I thought, but nothing more. Then I realised why, when one of the staff in a loud voice across the restaurant said to a group of women behind us "You have 10 minutes left guys." It seems you only have 90 minutes allocated to you when you dine-in at this restaurant, and they are very rigid on that rule ! Extraordinary. The women who had '10 minutes left' still had food and drinks on their table.....I guess a mad dash of shovelling it all down within 10 mins ensued ! The same waiter made several of these comments to the diners while we were there. It seemed quite militant in its delivery, and we wee nervous the with the slow service we were going to run out of time too! Given how it took 20 minutes for them to even take our drinks order, 90 minutes doesn't seem long at all. Anyway, we ordered and ate. It was delicious. I had the Nuer tod kra tium to start and a Thai green curry with jasmine rice for main. My partner had the same main and por pia ped to start. It was ALL entirely delicious and we wolfed it down with great joy. THEN the waiter who was barking times at diners throughout the night, comes over to collect our empty plates. In what I can only describe as an uncomfortable attempt at humour, he starts cracking unfunny and awkward jokes about me and my partner. In particular how we looked and our 'image.' My partner and I, laughed politely hoping he would move on, but he kept going and going.... The highlights were: likening my partner to Justin Beiber and calling his hair colour 'a mistaken and regrettable dye choice." Stating that I had obviously come tonight in a thunder storm (a comment on my hair too...). And several personal comments about my tattoos. The waiter failed to register how uncomfortable we both were at his fumbling attempt at humour, all while a number of other customers looked on awkwardly.... Following his little outburst, he walked off and we didn't see him again. Yeh we paid and left straight after this.....Ive given three stars. This is for the food. The staff, well, I would have given five stars, but the amateur comedian/waiter with the inappropriate comments kind of ruined the experience.

This place is LOVELY!! The service was brilliant and the lady taking our order was informative and gave the best recommendations for the dishes and drinks to complement the food. The atmosphere was genuinely pleasant. The style and aesthetic of the restaurant was beautiful. I really recommend. All together we paid just over £50 for the food and drinks. Worth it 💯

The staff were very friendly and polite. The place itself was clean and cosy, not too loud. The food we ordered were excellent especially their prawn crackers and Pad Thai noodles. I also like the small condiments available on the table (chilie flakes and i think fish sauce). Overall the price of our meal was all worth it

Tuk Tuk is one of my favourite restaurants in Cardiff. Delicious Thai food at an amazing price, beautiful presentation, and smashing service. Our server Grace was very accommodating and gave us great recommendations on the drinks and food. I will definitely be visiting again soon!

Visited yesterday having seen the reviews, the food is THE BEST Thai food I have ever tasted, tried the beef and prawns to start and the masaman curry for main, all were absolutely amazing. Would highly recommend if your visiting Cardiff, it's a little out of the way from the centre (7 mins in an Uber) but everyone in our group agreed it was well worth the trip. Also the roti were next level! Cocktails were also very good! Staff were very welcoming and friendly, if these guys were in the centre their business would be booming, very memorable food.

Absolutely wonderful. The food at Tuk Tuk was a joy, the service was impeccable, the decor and ambience are perfect. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Arrive hungry and do not miss the banana spring rolls if you have room for dessert. Drinks wise, the peach tropical mojito (which you can also get as a mocktail) is gorgeous.

We had a great experience at Tuk Tuk - Thai Kitchen & Bar, especially with our toddler. The restaurant is very kid-friendly, and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Our waiter was attentive, providing extra plates for sharing, ensuring the toddler’s food was right, and checking if we needed adjustments. We enjoyed the Tom Yum soup with prawns, which was delicious and authentic, and the prawn crackers were a generous treat. The only downside was the crispy chicken in the Pad Thai—it was a bit dry. Overall, a great family-friendly spot!

Always my first recommendation for people visiting Cardiff! The staff is always so lovely. Case in point today during the torrential rain the server (did not get his name unfortunately!) let us wait at an empty table whilst we waited to pick up our order and even brought over blue roll for us to dry off with. You can not go wrong with anything you order, it’s all always delicious!

Just had a Lovley meal at this hidden gem . Lovley decor nice relaxed vibe ( off the main busy centre ) really delicious food.

Warm and cosy environment with welcoming staff. Lovely range of food and enjoyed every dish! Particularly would recommend the Thai iced tea which was great in its flavour.

There is nothing not to love about this place. The food is amazing (try the Thai Green Curry), the service is great (James and Nori are lovely), the atmosphere very pleasant and the prices very reasonable. Been here twice now and we'll definitely keep coming. The only downside is that you'll usually have to book in advance.

Fantastic evening at this lovely restaurant. Service was quick, efficient and friendly and they definitely stick to service with a smile here which makes for a fantastic dining experience. The duck spring rolls are the nicest I've ever eaten and the prawn curry I had was full of flavour and the portion sizes are very generous. Already looking forward to returning to this lovely place again in the near future hopefully.

Food was good, well presented,nice venue and friendly service. Lost a star on each because: a few items missing off the menu that I wanted to order,it was crazy hot inside with no airflow/cooling making it very uncomfortable and then service was slow at times like having to ask to clear table, not asked for additional drinks when empty, not offered dessert menu, not offered payment method (I.e waiting to be asked approach which wasn't nessecery in a small cosy place and would of been the difference between 4-5)

Very disappointing. Thai Food made by people not from Thailand. It was the blandest Thai Food I have ever tasted in my life. I'm literally shocked they have a 4.7 rating on here. The service was adequate. A very nervous sweaty guy who kept on making a mistakes, a waitress that didn't know the menu, plenty of dishes that were not available on a Saturday night at 7.30pm. Absolutely not worth the money. I would not go back there if you paid me.

Massaman curry was legendary. Highly recommend. Staff were very pleasant and friendly. Very clean and tidy establishment. Due to the small venue the accessibility for wheelchairs/push chairs isn't ideal but I am sure the staff would be more than happy to do everything they can to accommodate I would just make sure to call ahead.

Visited here on holiday from Newcastle on Saturday night and it shall live long in the memory. Its menu is exciting and varied in scope and truly captures Thai cuisine at its best. Minced beef krapao was mopped up with a lovely, butter roti. Freshly prepared, with that telling depth of flavour. A slab of key lime pie with coconut ice cream proved a fitting finale. Great atmosphere, lovely service and one of the best Thai meals we’ve had in years.

Ordered for delivery on the recommendation of a friend who said the food was lovely here so I expected really good things. I ordered the Massaman curry as a main with extra peanuts however the sauce was the consistency of water with very little taste and I also didn’t get the order of extra peanuts I paid extra for :( the duck spring rolls were okay that I had for a starter. Maybe the experience is different dining in the restaurant but my experience with takeaway sadly wasn’t great.

This is a clean and tidy Thay restaurant, with a wide variety of foods and drink. Absolutely acceptable price. We eat tree different types of course, and all of them was delicious and fresh. Friendly and helpful staff . You can park nearby off-street. Enjoy your foods 😋

I ordered Beef Masaman with Jasmine rice and extra peanuts. It had all the makings of an excellent meal. Unfortunately, the beef was quite gristly, with hard fat of the kind that can only be broken down by long slow cooking. This had not been cooked long enough to the meat even chewable. The meal was inedible. Rice and peanuts were okay. Ultimately, it was a very disappointing experience.
