The Ivy Asia Cardiff in Cardiff

Had such a great experience at the Ivy Asia this weekend for my anniversary! The atmosphere was so lovely as well as the food and hospitality. Our waiter Ben was fantastic and had a very charming and welcoming smile.

I had a great experience at the Ivy Asia Cardiff. Shoutout to Evie for such a wonderful mothers day. We had the mothers day menu, it was brilliant :)

Great food. Top service, amazing staff and was served by a very nice and helpful young lad named Raphael. Can’t fault it. Top notch!

Main courses took an age to come. The beef wasn't bad taste but was totally cold. The other food was fairly good. The waiter was excellent, a lovely man. Was it worth the money? No.

The Asian experience was really good. Food came out regularly and was well presented.

I had an extremely disappointing and distressing experience at Ivy Asia Cardiff Central with my family. We arrived at 8 PM, dressed according to their formal dress code, yet we were clearly judged solely on the color of our skin. One older white server deliberately avoided our table multiple times, making no effort to serve us properly. Our order took an unacceptable three hours, while white customers who arrived much later were served promptly. When our food finally arrived, it was incorrect, further reinforcing the feeling that we weren’t valued as customers. The service toward us was noticeably slower and indifferent compared to the white diners around us. We finally received our last dish at 10 PM, at which point we decided to leave. This was not just bad service—it felt deliberately discriminatory. No one should have to experience this kind of treatment, especially at a supposedly high-end restaurant. I strongly urge management to address this racism within their staff. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who values fair and respectful service.

The restaurant is gorgeous inside but that’s about it. Food was really disappointing - sashimi was rubbery, dumplings had no flavour, dry chicken, overcooked rice, and the char siu pork was really chewy. For the price, expected more interesting flavours or at least nicely cooked meat but wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of it was microwaved. Portions were small and super overpriced. Cocktails were also nothing special. Great spot for photos but that’s about it. Everything was so bland and we left feeling like we’d wasted our money

Myself and my partner had lunch here yesterday and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience the service we received from Launyn was excellent, she was attentive, helpful and made our experience here one to remember! We were very impressed with the food, we will definitely be back.

I went to the Ivy Asia last night for my 40th Birthday. We were all very excited on the lead up as some of the guests were from out of town. For the positives, the cocktails were lovely, the atmosphere was great and the waitress was attentive. The negatives. My chicken was raw, see picture. Bottom left is clearly raw. Also worth mentioning the chicken in the Thai green curry is thigh which I think should be stated on the menu also. When I told the waitress she took the plate then discussed it directly behind us with other staff, they kept looking over at the table and this was incredibly uncomfortable, this should of been well away from the table or in the kitchen. They did knock my meal off the bill but unfortunately I had eaten some of the chicken and have been off colour since. Truthfully I was more put out by the discussion directly by us, (top right table) than the food. Unfortunately this did ruin my evening as was feeling ill for the rest of the night and today. The atmosphere is lovely and the decor is incredible but this did let you down.

Four of us went for lunch before the rugby on Saturday and it was an exceptional experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff were excellent and the food was absolutely fantastic - a great atmosphere in the restaurant, I would highly recommend! 👍

My recent visit to Ivy Asia Cardiff was nothing short of fab! From the moment I stepped inside, I was blown away by the incredible décor. However, what truly made my evening exceptional was the outstanding service. Our server, Rhiannon, went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic time. Her attentiveness, knowledge, and genuine warmth made us feel incredibly welcome. She's a true credit to the restaurant! And a special mention has to be made for the men's toilets – let's just say they offer a unique 'shock factor' that you simply have to experience for yourself! It's a talking point, for sure. Overall, I had a fab time at Ivy Asia Cardiff and can't wait to return. Highly recommended!

I am not really a big fan of Asian food, but the food here was actually really good. Our server Rhiannon was so friendly and helpful, and gave us some really good recommendations.

I have visited ivy Asia a few weeks prior to us going in gentry for dad’s birthday and they were lovely. In February I we visited for dads birthday. The restaurant was empty yet it took 15 minutes to be seated. There was six of us we was seated right by the door so it was cold and drafty. We placed our drinks order we waited 25 minutes before I said that’s it. Three tables were seated and had their drinks before us. We was ordering wine and beer nothing that had to be made. This was disappointing on a birthday. Very very disappointed

Did not have a pleasant experience last night at the ivy asia. They split us onto two different tables as we were a party of fourteen, we had asked to move to one which would of accommodated all of us but was refused as that part of the resturant was 'closed'. We had asked a day or two before if we could of changed our time as it was late for some of the guests yet again was told no as they couldn't accommodate it yet when we arrived to the restaurant it was on the verge of empty. It took a long time for the staff to ask about what we want for our drink, where the food was and for the bill a member of our guests had to get up multiple times to grab there attention which again for an empty ish restaurant shouldn't be the standard. Food arrived at all different times that people had finished there starter before half of the table was even served and then same again for the main and just wasn't up to that standard which was expected for the food. The decor was lovely but everything else let it down so spending £40-60 each per person for a unpleasant experience was not expected And to charge 12.5% additional service charge was pushing it, wont be returning.

Absolutely delicious food. We had the Ivy Asia Experience taster menu. All the food served was fantastic with beautiful presentation. We absolutely loved the vegetable tempura. Amazingly crisp with such great flavour. Service was good and friendly. Atmosphere in there was fantastic, and the decor is absolutely stunning. Well worth a visit.

It was our first time at the Ivy Asia tonight. Our waiter Ben took great care of us. He gave us some great recommendations and the food was lovely. We can’t wait to come back again!

Went a couple of days ago and got some food and drinks while there. Brenton on the bar was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed the experience he gave.

My wife and I had booked a table for 8 pm on Friday 28th February. It was a casual dinner outing and my wife suggested The Ivy Asia as her colleagues had recommended the place. We were in awe of everything about The Ivy Asia. The ambiance, the food, the decorations and artwork and the first class service. We were served by Alex, who was very friendly and welcoming. We would like to thank her once again for making our night truly memorable. The restaurant is one of the finest we have been to in Cardiff and highly recommended.

The food is so shockingly average. Sushi didn’t taste of anything.

Slightly disappointed. It was a Sunday and quiet but it gave us chance to experience the place in a more peaceful setting. My curry was really nice and the other food looked good but didn’t quite hit the full 5 stars. For nearly £19 I thought the service was poor. I should have Asked them to half it really but I didn’t. I won’t rush back here.

Another fantastic meal at the Ivy Asia in Cardiff. The food never disappoints. Rhys and Ben looked after us very well, clearing empty dishes and glasses promptly to make space for more food. Rhys was excellent at knowing what everyone was drinking when we ordered more cocktails but couldn't remember the names. Great atmosphere, great food, great service.

Table next to us as we arrived had clearly had too much to drink after the rugby. Both males were sat in the booth despite being at a table for 2 with nobody sat opposite, they were invading our space and they were asked to sit in assigned seating and said they were about to leave but did not. They were loud enough for the table on the other side of us to take notice of them and were also irritated by it. When we brought this up to waiter they tried to defend this by saying that the table 'wasn't feeling well after the rugby' when this clearly wasn't the case.

Went at lunchtime for my husband’s birthday and decided to go for the experience menu which was recommended by our lovely waiter Rhys as it was our first visit. The food was delicious and Rhys’s service was A1. Only reason for 4 stars on atmosphere is because we were a bit cold by the window. We should have asked for another table. Will definitely go again and try the main menu.

Absolutely beautiful decor and the food was just as stunning. Set menu for the Luna festival gave a good alternative to the a la carte menu and was at a very reasonable price of £23. Very accommodating with requests and first class table service. A wonderful experience, thank you ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My dad loves asian food, so what is the best spot to show you how much you love him, probably the korean restaurant by Cowbridge road but Ivy asia comes close enough when you have money. To be fair the food and presentation is just phenomenal plus some top notch service from Laylanei. Just the decor make it seem like you are in an acid trip; just look at the floor!!! Must be a nightmare cleaning the whole restaurant. Anyways bring anyone here the loves “asian food” especially if they got a lot of zeros in their P60.

Spent Valentine’s night at Ivy Asia Cardiff. We were looked after by Lauryn, she made our night. She helped us with suggestions on the menu, was knowledgeable and attentive. We will be returning :)

my partner took me here yesterday for valentine’s day/my birthday meal and it was one of the most amazing unique places i have been too, exceeded all expectations i had. food was incredible and our waitress lauryn was super lovely and very helpful. we both had a wonderful time :)))

We booked a table for two the night before valentines 7pm When we arrived I told the greeter that I suffered from the cold and could we have a table in the warm please. She took us in and put us on the first table by the door and the window. It was cold from the windows and every time the door opened a draft came in. I kept my coat and scarfs on for the entire meal, which was its usual 10/10. They could obviously see that we were cold but did not rectify the matter. When we were ready to pay the bill came with the regular 10% tip on it, which I declined. Ivy Asia please look after your customers.

What a fantastic restaurant. Atmosphere, service and food were of the highest standard. Melosa who looked after us was so helpful explaining the menu and sharing information on the design concept of the decor - which is quite stunning. Lovely lunch, the only improvement I would suggest is to have a bit of an interval between starter and mains which arrived quite close together.

Rhys had their air of a young Mel Gibson (before he went off the rails). Gave great explanation of the menu and solid recommendations. Delivered the food with the grace of Mikhail Baryshnikov from an era I thought had passed us, a credit to the Ivy. Not since the late 70s have I had such a wonderful dining experience, that was at a captains table aboard a newly commissioned luxury cruise liner (I’m sure you can guess which one), I would not hesitate to return.

Lauryn our host was incredible. They were very attentive and kind and being a larger table of chatty women, she really did have the patience of a saint. Phenomenal service and hope to see Lauryn again when we visit in future. A true asset to the team!

Having been twice before we were looking forward to taking my Dad for his first time for his birthday, however this was a disappointing visit. We arrived in plenty of time and were taken to the bar area while we waited for our 5pm table to be ready, finally at 5.20pm we were shown to our table. We chose some wine etc and waited over 20 mins for these to arrive and for our order to be taken. The starters were nice but when it came to the main the Salt & Pepper beef was awful, tough and inedible, it really put my Dad and son off so it was replaced with the chicken. At the end of the meal the manager came over and was making excuses for the issue with the beef dish, it wasn't cooked correctly it was the chef's fault, and well we replaced it with another choice for you! We were not impressed with the mangers manner, this is not the way to deal with customers dissatisfaction. Also, you would think a restaurant of this caliber would not let poorly executed dishes leave the kitchen and be given to diners. Then to top it all the bill arrived, with the supplements for the beef still on it, plus drinks that we did not have. A celebratory visit marred by slow service, poor food and terrible attitude of the manager.

The house music was quite loud making conversation a bit difficult.

Really disappointed with food here. Beautiful venue with helpful staff but overall the food was badly cooked. The teriyaki salmon was dry and overcooked and mealy in the mouth. The sushi was tasteless and had clearly been sitting around for far too long. The noodles were lacking in flavour and very bland. I won't be back. There seems to no QA in the kitchen at all.

Must visit please in Cardiff! Really well designed, nothing like the other boring restaurants. Service was on point, many waiters to help. And most importantly the food was delicious and beautifully presented! Would visit again!

Went to the Ivy Asia in Cardiff on Saturday for my husband's birthday. We were a party of 4 who shared some smaller plates and sides. Our waiter, Rhys was an excellent host, offering guidance on spice levels and portion sizes for each dish. He was very attentive despite the restaurant being really busy. Each dish was delicious and beautifully presented. Despite none of our party ordering a dessert ( we were all too full!) Rhys still brought out a small dessert with a candle in it for the birthday boy. The only negative however, was the fact that the music was a bit too loud. It was difficult to hear our own conversations at times. A great evening all around. Would highly recommend.

Bethany ensured that our impromptu decision to stop off in Cardiff and enjoy a special evening meal for a birthday last min idea was rewarded with great attention. And of course a super creative Experience menu ticked our boxes for tasty and a bit different special meal. Lychee cocktail and a glass of Lady A rose sealed a memorable evening.

Can honestly say best lunch I have ever had.

Planned to have a late lunch in The Giggling Squid not realising it was in Cardiff Bay! So popped into The Ivy and so glad we did. Lovely atmosphere, excellent staff - thank you Rhys & Bethany, delicious food. We will definitely return.

All fur coat and no knickers. Overpriced, limited menu, noisy, crowded. Food was only average. The USP appears to be the decoration but having seen it once I wouldn't go back. Better Asian restaurants around that are much cheaper.
