Another fantastic meal at the Ivy Asia in Cardiff. The food never disappoints. Rhys and Ben looked after us very well, clearing empty dishes and glasses promptly to make space for more food. Rhys was excellent at knowing what everyone was drinking when we ordered more cocktails but couldn't remember the names. Great atmosphere, great food, great service.

Table next to us as we arrived had clearly had too much to drink after the rugby. Both males were sat in the booth despite being at a table for 2 with nobody sat opposite, they were invading our space and they were asked to sit in assigned seating and said they were about to leave but did not. They were loud enough for the table on the other side of us to take notice of them and were also irritated by it. When we brought this up to waiter they tried to defend this by saying that the table 'wasn't feeling well after the rugby' when this clearly wasn't the case.

Went at lunchtime for my husband’s birthday and decided to go for the experience menu which was recommended by our lovely waiter Rhys as it was our first visit. The food was delicious and Rhys’s service was A1. Only reason for 4 stars on atmosphere is because we were a bit cold by the window. We should have asked for another table. Will definitely go again and try the main menu.

Absolutely beautiful decor and the food was just as stunning. Set menu for the Luna festival gave a good alternative to the a la carte menu and was at a very reasonable price of £23. Very accommodating with requests and first class table service. A wonderful experience, thank you ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My dad loves asian food, so what is the best spot to show you how much you love him, probably the korean restaurant by Cowbridge road but Ivy asia comes close enough when you have money. To be fair the food and presentation is just phenomenal plus some top notch service from Laylanei. Just the decor make it seem like you are in an acid trip; just look at the floor!!! Must be a nightmare cleaning the whole restaurant. Anyways bring anyone here the loves “asian food” especially if they got a lot of zeros in their P60.

my partner took me here yesterday for valentine’s day/my birthday meal and it was one of the most amazing unique places i have been too, exceeded all expectations i had. food was incredible and our waitress lauryn was super lovely and very helpful. we both had a wonderful time :)))

Spent Valentine’s night at Ivy Asia Cardiff. We were looked after by Lauryn, she made our night. She helped us with suggestions on the menu, was knowledgeable and attentive. We will be returning :)

We booked a table for two the night before valentines 7pm When we arrived I told the greeter that I suffered from the cold and could we have a table in the warm please. She took us in and put us on the first table by the door and the window. It was cold from the windows and every time the door opened a draft came in. I kept my coat and scarfs on for the entire meal, which was its usual 10/10. They could obviously see that we were cold but did not rectify the matter. When we were ready to pay the bill came with the regular 10% tip on it, which I declined. Ivy Asia please look after your customers.

It was a great way to explore different flavors together, and everything was fresh and well-prepared. A special mention to our waiter, Chu, who provided outstanding service throughout the evening. He was incredibly attentive, hard-working, and ensured we had everything we needed, all while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor. What a fantastic restaurant. Atmosphere, service and food were of the highest standard. Melosa who looked after us was so helpful explaining the menu and sharing information on the design concept of the decor - which is quite stunning. Thank you to all members of staff who looked after us from the time we arrived to the time we left.

Rhys had their air of a young Mel Gibson (before he went off the rails). Gave great explanation of the menu and solid recommendations. Delivered the food with the grace of Mikhail Baryshnikov from an era I thought had passed us, a credit to the Ivy. Not since the late 70s have I had such a wonderful dining experience, that was at a captains table aboard a newly commissioned luxury cruise liner (I’m sure you can guess which one), I would not hesitate to return.

Lovely lunch, the only improvement I would suggest is to have a bit of an interval between starter and mains which arrived quite close together.

Lauryn our host was incredible. They were very attentive and kind and being a larger table of chatty women, she really did have the patience of a saint. Phenomenal service and hope to see Lauryn again when we visit in future. A true asset to the team!

The house music was quite loud making conversation a bit difficult.

Having been twice before we were looking forward to taking my Dad for his first time for his birthday, however this was a disappointing visit. We arrived in plenty of time and were taken to the bar area while we waited for our 5pm table to be ready, finally at 5.20pm we were shown to our table. We chose some wine etc and waited over 20 mins for these to arrive and for our order to be taken. The starters were nice but when it came to the main the Salt & Pepper beef was awful, tough and inedible, it really put my Dad and son off so it was replaced with the chicken. At the end of the meal the manager came over and was making excuses for the issue with the beef dish, it wasn't cooked correctly it was the chef's fault, and well we replaced it with another choice for you! We were not impressed with the mangers manner, this is not the way to deal with customers dissatisfaction. Also, you would think a restaurant of this caliber would not let poorly executed dishes leave the kitchen and be given to diners. Then to top it all the bill arrived, with the supplements for the beef still on it, plus drinks that we did not have. A celebratory visit marred by slow service, poor food and terrible attitude of the manager.

Really disappointed with food here. Beautiful venue with helpful staff but overall the food was badly cooked. The teriyaki salmon was dry and overcooked and mealy in the mouth. The sushi was tasteless and had clearly been sitting around for far too long. The noodles were lacking in flavour and very bland. I won't be back. There seems to no QA in the kitchen at all.

Must visit please in Cardiff! Really well designed, nothing like the other boring restaurants. Service was on point, many waiters to help. And most importantly the food was delicious and beautifully presented! Would visit again!

Went to the Ivy Asia in Cardiff on Saturday for my husband's birthday. We were a party of 4 who shared some smaller plates and sides. Our waiter, Rhys was an excellent host, offering guidance on spice levels and portion sizes for each dish. He was very attentive despite the restaurant being really busy. Each dish was delicious and beautifully presented. Despite none of our party ordering a dessert ( we were all too full!) Rhys still brought out a small dessert with a candle in it for the birthday boy. The only negative however, was the fact that the music was a bit too loud. It was difficult to hear our own conversations at times. A great evening all around. Would highly recommend.

Planned to have a late lunch in The Giggling Squid not realising it was in Cardiff Bay! So popped into The Ivy and so glad we did. Lovely atmosphere, excellent staff - thank you Rhys & Bethany, delicious food. We will definitely return.

All fur coat and no knickers. Overpriced, limited menu, noisy, crowded. Food was only average. The USP appears to be the decoration but having seen it once I wouldn't go back. Better Asian restaurants around that are much cheaper.

We arrived earlier than the time booked for and was seated straight away. The restaurant itself is very aesthetically pleasing and the tables were spacious. The food was delicious and highly recommend the teriyaki salmon along with the duck spring rolls from the small plates. Service was friendly.

Our first time eating at The Ivy as a New Years Day treat and we were lucky enough to have Rhys hosting us - he was absolutely flawless from start to finish and is a credit to The Ivy Asia. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such effortlessly excellent service, he’s a true natural, and comes from a town just up the road from us also! The food was fantastic, we opted for all of the vegan options and each one was excellent, we couldn’t pick a single fault with the whole experience!

Food was great, decor very pretty, although the music doesn’t not match the event when we went. Some server was friendly but one who looked after the bills didn’t really care, he didn’t scan my membership card. He doesn’t even bothered to check if its done properly..

Our waitress Lauryn was an absolute star and made the day one to remember. Me and my partner came to celebrate our 3rd new years together and we couldn't have asked for a nicer person to share that with . She was extremely friendly and thoughtful and it felt like she was going above and more for us . Truly an incredible person for this restaurant and they should be very proud . The food was stunning and the service spectacular especially our waitress bethany who went above and beyond.

We had booked our table weeks in advance. On arrival we were told our table wasn't ready and would we wait at the tables outside. There were many unoccupied tables which still had dirty plates and glasses. We sat there for ages until someone came along to take our drinks order of cocktails before our meal.These took so long to arrive we were now at our table. We then ordered two bottles of wine and had to chase up twice and was told that they were waiting for glasses. The food was cold, very mediocre at best and the tiny portion of nacho and prawn crackers was a joke. It was obvious the place was understaffed and yet they were still accepting walk ins. A great disappointment. Overated food at inflated prices and very poor service.

Our visit to Ivy Asia Cardiff was, without question, the worst dining experience we’ve ever had. We arrived 20 minutes late due to heavy traffic in town, which was beyond our control, but the rude hostess made sure to make us feel unwelcome from the moment we stepped inside. Instead of understanding or accommodating the situation, she coldly informed us that we were late and warned we’d have to leave the table on time. There was no warmth, no professionalism—just an attitude that made us regret walking through the door. The serving staff were no better. They were unfriendly, unhelpful, and seemed like they didn’t want to be there. Smiles were nonexistent, and the tension was palpable. At one point, they even asked us to pass dishes to each other instead of serving us properly—something you’d expect in a fast-food joint, not a supposedly upscale restaurant. The staff all looked miserable, which points to either poor pay or terrible management. The food was equally disappointing. I ordered the belly pork dish, which turned out to be an absolute disaster. It was barely pork—just a plate overloaded with bamboo shoots. For the price we were paying, this was an insult to both the dish and the diner. But the worst part? We wanted to order dessert, only for the waitress to bluntly tell us, “You can’t have dessert because you need to leave now.” We were absolutely stunned. They made no effort to handle the situation politely, every staff member had a very impolite attitude to them. It was clear they didn’t care about the customer experience at all. We’ve dined at exclusive restaurants all over the world, and this was, by far, the worst customer service we’ve ever encountered. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Ivy Asia Cardiff is overpriced, poorly managed, and a waste of time and money. Avoid at all costs! If I could give 0 rating I would.

Danial was absolutely amazing and delivered our cocktails with excellence, Archie also delivered expertise when making our cocktails and Estrella took our order providing skillful knowledge about each cocktail and spirit. Would recommend!!!

Crazy good food. Ordered loads of little dishes and everything that came was amazing. The restaurant looks so good too, makes the experience even better.

A Miserable Experience: 1. Horrendous Staff Attitude: • The staff were shockingly unfriendly—no smiles, no warmth, and absolutely no desire to make you feel welcome. • Being told to leave in such a rude and abrupt manner, especially without the chance to enjoy dessert, is downright disgraceful. It feels like they couldn’t wait to get rid of you. 2. Disastrous Food: • The beef tataki starter may have been decent, but that’s where the positives end. • The pork belly was a complete letdown—the driest you’ve ever had. On top of that, the dish was mostly vegetables with barely any meat. • Asking for chili and receiving bland chili oil with no flavor added insult to injury. It’s shocking that a restaurant of this supposed caliber could fail on such basic elements. 3. Terrible Value for Money: • For the outrageous prices, the quality and portions of the food were unacceptable. You felt like you were paying a premium for nothing but the decor. 4. Unforgivable Treatment: • Getting “kicked out” is simply inexcusable. No guest should ever feel rushed or unwelcome, especially after spending money at a restaurant. The lack of professionalism and outright rudeness from the staff is appalling. Final Thoughts: It’s clear this place cares more about appearances than providing a good dining experience. While the decor may be beautiful, everything else—service, food, and value—was a complete disaster. If zero stars were an option, this restaurant would deserve it without question. Avoid it at all costs.

We had the most wonderful meal at the Ivy Asia Cardiff on the 27th December. Our waiter Rhys was amazing, couldn’t have been more accommodating of us. Can’t wait to go back, a real treat indeed!

Six of us were they for the evening of the 27th December 🎄. The food was great and we were allowed time between courses to look forward to the next planned small or large plates of food 🙂.
