First time there. Exceptional service Would highly recommend it. Hiene served us. She is at University and what a delight.

This is not what you expect it to be. It’s really very disappointing and overall our food was poor. Green beans stringy and the main with the whole chilli’s inside was not good. We paid £140 for two people after a bad meal. Honestly there are much better places in cardiff. Fur coat and no knickers !!

My experience at the Ivy Asia was a mixture of good and bad. The restaurant decor concept and the atmosphere they have captured is absolutely stunning! My food was also lovely but I found the service to be very slow. It took a lot of effort just to get the attention of staff. I dined with my mum who has an allergy to hot chili and her options here were very poor. Everything is drenched in spicy glazes and has many spicy ingredients so my mum ended up having plain noodles and plain battered shrimp. For such a lovely restaurant, there should be more non spicy alternatives, it is not acceptable. The menu also is misleading and has vital things not added. We checked the menu online before coming to the restaurant and we thought my mum had good options but when we arrived and spoke to the waitress further about the menu, we slowly realised we will have an issue. We still stayed to give the restaurant a chance as it was our firs visit and were excited for the overall experience. We paid nearly £20 for plain shrimp and noodles. The food is overpriced. £75 for 2 people is crazy. This is Dubai prices, not Cardiff. My Mother also became ill after eating from here. I think she had bad shrimp but shes been up all night with diarrhoea and shivers. My food was yummy and I recommend The Green Lantern dessert and the Keralan Curry 🫶🏼❤️ Despite our crazy experience, the service was slow but they were very kind to us and dealt with our issues the best they could. Most people's experience mentioned in the reviews are positive and I don't wish to be rude on anyone but I have the be honest. I had a great time and enjoyed the food but I am thinking of my poor mum.

This is the most 'trendy' restuarant that we have ever visited. It is best suited for the younger crowd; for those looking for authentic Asian food, not. The piped music was so loud - and more heavy-metal that Asian - that I could barely hear what our waitress was saying to us -which might explain why my drink order was incorrect! When the main course eventually did arrive, it was quite good but seriously over-priced. To add insult to poor service, there was a note on the menu that there is a 'discretionary' 12-1/2% service charge levied! However, when the bill did arrive, it already included the 'discretionary' service charge. I did not have the patience to argue. For those going to the gents', beware that there is a mannequin dressed as a samurai warrior standing at one of the urinals. It gave me quite a start! "Konichewa" (good afternoon) came over the loudspeaker. It it did not reply when I shouted: "Genki dess ka?" (how are you!). Sionara!

Excellent place for a lunch catch up with friends. Tremendous food & drinks and our host Rhys was fab, professional and friendly.

Sushi is below average, I’ve had much better sushi at tescos, absolutely tasteless. The atmosphere and vibes are epic though, definitely nice to sit down and enjoy an evening but not with food!

Brilliant experience at The Ivy Asia, Cardiff. Delicious food, wonderful service from Heini and beautiful surroundings. My 11 year old loved it for his birthday lunch and even better that we could take what we couldn’t eat (there was a fair amount!) home with us.

This is the 2nd lunchtime menu I’ve had for my birthday this year. I wasn’t too sure if this would be a great place to eat Asian food, but it’s fantastic! The food is delicious, the restaurant is extremely beautifully decorated and the service was excellent. Alex was an excellent waitress. She explained the menu and was great fun. She was a credit to this restaurant

TERRIBLE service and hospitality. We had to wait over 30 minutes to receive our table, manager and person at the front were very hostile, as if we were at fault. We were told we couldn’t have some paper decoration up on our table for our friends birthday, even when the table next to us had huge helium birthday balloons, birthday cakes (not from the ivy, which is not allowed) they had the cake and decorations on throughout their whole dinner. The manager was so rude about this and came to essentially tell us off about it and said it in a VERY rude tone, even when it was them that put it up for us. One of the waitresses was waiting for us to have it removed and said she won’t be serving us until it was removed. Even when the table next to us had many more decorations and they were not told a thing. That same waitress serving our table was very passive aggressive, rude, and overall had a horrible attitude, the other waitress was nice but this one was just very rude. She got irritated when we asked to remove the service charge? But offered us terrible service so why did she expect us to be paying it?? We waited ages for the bill and for the table to be cleaned so we could have the birthday celebration, even when we were one of the only tables outside at this time. My friend (the birthday girl) had a terrible experience and did not enjoy her birthday dinner at all, and wanted to leave within 10 mins of being sat down because of how terrible the service was. Unenjoyable experience, do NOT recommend at all. We were all moody towards the end of the night because of this, it ruined our night to be treated this way. Very unacceptable.

Came for my partners birthday meal, food, service and the atmosphere was incredible. Our server Rhys couldn’t do more to make sure that everything was perfect. Definitely be coming again!! There was a lovely gentlemen in a black suit who advised us on a lovely bottle of red which made the evening feel so special.

Celebrated my daughters 18th here and was served by Reece. Everything was as to be expected, the decadent surroundings, mouth watering food, and expertly prepared cocktails. We booked in to have the Dragon Set Lunch Menu, but we were given the option to change when ordering. The additional touch of some mochi (with a candle) presented to the Birthday Girl was much appreciated. It is expensive but it is The Ivy after all. Highly recommended, and I can't wait to bring my husband here.

Absolutely amazing! The food, the atmosphere, the people. Everything was incredible and up to high standards. Our waitress Lauryn was an absolute sweetheart and was able to help us with everything! Highly recommend.

Four of us went in for what we thought was going to be an incredible meal but left disappointed. We had eaten before we got our drinks (not cocktails). 2 had curry and both said we have had better microwave curries, But the other two did say the meal was OK. Then we sat waiting to pay for the bill after about 20mins someone came over and said is everything OK, we was like waiting for our bill, They thought we had paid. Bit of a mess and needs better management.

Wonderful lunch out with my daughter from Australia. Great value for money as there was a special lunch menu offer for under £20 for 2 courses. The Ivy is beautiful surroundings, clean and friendly and Rhys our young man who was looking after us was very attentive and always on hand if our glasses even looked close to empty. So polite and helpful and a pleasure to have around. You don’t mind the service charge when you have helpful staff like Rhys. Food was gorgeous and cocktails were so pretty. Will definitely indulge again but maybe next time maybe dinner and something a little more extravagant. ❤️

What a great restuarant. Service excellent. Food excellent. Staff great fun. surroundings are fantastic. Yes it's a Ivy and yes it isn't cheap. but, the food is exceptional and couldn't fault any of it. Best prawn toast i have ever had. Staff all very helpful and polite and fun as well. Not much i can say that others haven't. Will definitely go to another Ivy Asia. Definitely reccommend a visit.

The food was nice... Not mind blowing. It was very very expensive. We were also "stuck" on the end... It felt like it was an extra table that should not of been there ... We seemed to be in the way of people. The service was good, I know they say the food will be out when it's ready... But their timings may be a bit out. Rice should not take 40mins ... It was our daughters birthday, so they came out with some desert for her, which was nice. Bar that, done it now...

Had an amazing time here today celebrating my son’s 15th birthday. The occasion was made all the more special by the exceptional service provided by our waitress Sophia for whom nothing was too much trouble.

Myself and a beauteous women went along to this restaurant yesterday evening! Greeted nicely they found us a table for 2 promptly which we were very happy with. We received a lovely compliment from our first waitress, we sadly didn't catch her name...then Sophia catered to our needs perfectly and offered some exemplary recommendations. Incredibly overpriced for quite average food to be honest. Cost me £120 for two of use where I could have got the same thing in another chain for £70. Was nice themes / colours in there however I think you pay 30% more just for the accessories which after 10mins are irrelevant.

I had a fabulous evening with my family on my birthday which consisted of great service from Chu and Lauryn, I highly recommend this place especially when celebrating special occasions.

I visited Ivy Asia for lunch with a friend. I had previously visited with my partner for a special occasion, at which we had a great time but found the food, especially the small plates, overpriced for the quality, which was no better than any other Asian fusion restaurant in town. On this visit, I had booked ahead and despite a voicemail confirming my booking time of 1pm, the confirmation email wrongly stated another date at 2pm. I was unable to reach the restaurant to double check despite calling multiple times. On arriving there was no one at the host desk although we were soon shown to our seats. The ambience and décor is undeniably amazing and the seating is comfortable- I like the booth seating as it feels a bit more cosy. This time I thought the food was great- I had sesame prawn toast, yasai tempura which was my favourite dish and was a good portion size, and char siu pork fried rice. We also had the Xian Spritz from the limited Moon Festival cocktail menu, which was lovely. Our waiter was incredibly friendly, attentive and polite and the other serving staff were very efficient. However the food did not come out as quickly as it could have, which soon became important. We were given dessert menus and the cocktail menu was brought back for me to browse. I was intending on ordering dessert and another drink. However our waiter soon returned to advise us our table time was up and we would need to move to the bar for any more drinks and that we could not have dessert. He was completely apologetic and polite and indicated his manager had made him say this. We immediately asked for the bill as we had no intention of spending any more money if we could not stay at the table, and we asked for the service charge to be removed. While I appreciate that the table time is stated on booking, it is less than many other restaurants offer at 1 hour and 45 minutes, which is not a long time when you consider multiple dishes, drinks and conversation. We did not eat slowly- we could only eat the food as quickly as it was brought out, and there was a gap between the tempura and the main dishes. I think the practice of booking as many customers as possible and effectively throwing sitting customers out at the first opportunity to make it work is the sign of a restaurant that is hype over substance. I have never been removed from any other restaurant for reasons of timing and certainly not when about to order another course. Despite the beautiful setting, attentive wait staff and good food, I simply won't be returning to a restaurant where I have to pay upwards of £50pp in order to eat as quickly as possible or get kicked out, and where they have the cheek to add a service charge or ask if you want to spend more at the bar after being removed from your table.

Lauryn was an absolute star throughout! She made sure that we were never empty with our drinks and that we were enjoying our experience. Could not recommend enough! 5* service!

My daughter and i went for afternoon tea here today and what a treat. From start to finish beautiful everything. The food was out of this world, the set up was beautiful so was the surroundings. We were treated wonderful in there and had a great time. We ordered 2 extra small sides of savoury plates to go with the tea, we had a cocktail which was delicious, plenty of tea and coffee and sweet treats, plus water on the table, it was a feast. All together for it all with the service charge it came to £120, it was well worth the money.

Excellent experience , after a poor experience in Bath’s Ivy , what a pleasure to dine at the Ivy Asia in Cardiff! From start to finish it was a joy , we ate there pre concert , we arrived early which was no problem to the staff . We’re were taken to our table where Will was our server , he was exemplary, one of us had an allergy and he checked repeatedly and updated us repeatedly after checking thoroughly with the kitchen etc. The small plate menu was excellent, the wine perfect and the service from Will and his colleague in black was professional, friendly ,attentive and non evasive . They knew the art of great service. The dishes we had were excellent, full of flavour and well presented. Thank you for a great experience
