Unfortunately for them the lights went off in the back room prior to a birthday party coming in, which created mayhem. The food was great though. Difficult to judge. Probably deserve a second visit.

An interesting menu, with so many choices we will be returning to try out more.

Great food, freshly cooked. I have a tomato allergy and the kitchen was able to adapt most menu items to be suitable for me. Genuinely very impressed by this given tomato is a staple Indian thickener. Very wide menu with reasonable pricing. All dishes we had were really very good. This has now become my regular Indian!

Really good curry and nice restaurant ambience. I always go for chicken tikka as I love the clay oven chicken and my partner gets a chicken korma. We were both pleased!

Good meal, pleasant staff and surroundings. The tarka dall was the best I’ve ever tasted. The chicken tikka could benefit from more spice but was cooked beautifully.

Booked a table is advisable, as Saturday night was busy. Skipped starters and ordered a couple of pupadoms and went for mains which were very good. Service is attentive and proffesional. The final bill was higher than expected but wouldn't deter a return Visit.

The welcome was not at all acceptable. The staff who opened the door for us was acting like we do not belong to the place at all. It was not acceptable and we had to leave the place as he continued staring at us the whole time. Not at all a good manners.

Truly superb food and service, excellent friendly staff. Try the Rogan Josh and Tandori King Butterfly Prawns prawns, absolutely the best I have ever tasted. Everything was faultless, a very enjoyable evening, lovely restaurant.

First of all it’s a very oriented and well organized family restaurant. Went there with my family for the first time. Was that really good food and very good customer service. I’ve enjoyed mixed grill and garlic chili chicken massala. I’ll go there again soon with friends and family.

Used to be good but unfortunately prices are now premium and portions are tiny. Don't bother ordering starters like paneer or somosa - you'll be shocked by how little food you get. Quality of food is OK but the lack of food for extra high prices really left a bad impression.

Three of us visited yesterday as I was a regular at this restaurant years ago and always found the food to be good and prices reasonable. I was sincerely disappointed however when the bill arrived. No starters, just two popadoms each, a main each, two rices shared between three of us, four breads, one saag aloo (between three) and a soft drink - £100 without a tip. Gobsmacked for the equivalent amount of food you would get as a takeaway and would cost you half that elsewhere. 5 quid for a naan, 7 for a small side and another 7 for a large lemonade (two of the small bottles). £1.20 per poppadom!? They also put a fine print at the end of the menu saying that there is a minimum spend of £21.95pp and that they will add a 12.5% service charge. I know the price of living has gone up but I felt rinsed in all honesty. A shame because I used to rave over this place as the best in town. Won’t be returning though at those prices.

Ordered a takeaway for 4 people, for picked up, the food was stone cold. Extremely disappointed as always had good food this restaurant is quite expensive so a treat to have food from there. rang them up was told to take the food back and they would re-do the order. They were quite rude and we didn’t feel confident in taking back. Very very poor customer experience they could have said they would deliver or offer a discount on next visit. So be aware also to point out food waiting to be picked up is left on a trolley by the door it was a freezing night 😡 waste of my hard earned money cold food rude people will not make the same mistake twice

Our last minute dinner detour and we were not disappointed. Well presented venue , friendly staff and delicious food. With a public car park just a couple minutes walk -a very good option

The restaurant has an amazing ambience for you to enjoy dinner for two, family dinners and big parties and gatherings! My favourites are chicken tikka and lamb chop sizzlers. The chicken tikka chaat puri is spicy and flavourful, I strongly recommend! The bar has it all and you can drink as much as you desire! It’s a great atmosphere! Truly recommend everyone gives Tufail a try! They’re a genuine family run business with over 2 decades do experience in the industry!

An easy way to judge how good an Indian restaurant is to see how busy it is in a town where Indian restaurants are plenty. Tufail is a fairly large restaurant and each seat was full on a Friday night which didn't cause any strain on the kitchen as dishes were flying their way around the place and landing on tables with rehearsed efficiency. Each dish we had was tasty and plentiful - great value for money. Best in town? Quite possibly.

Best in Gravesend! After some other disappointing curries we visited the Tufail this evening Nice friendly welcome from the team at the door and allowed time to peruse the menu. Had the lamb shank and was sensational. Lovely Peshwari Naan. Could have cuddled up in its soft pillowy coco-nutty loveliness Shall not look anywhere else for a decent curry out now!

Nice atmosphere. Food was good. However, seemed like they were slightly understaffed. Had waits for mains and then had to wait for rice to be served. Price wise, was pretty standard. But fair for the quality of the food.

Been using the Tufail for years, but last night was disappointed with a takeaway. No salad or sauce with my Chicken Tikka and the Chicken Korma (not mine) was way more spicy than usual. Manager offered to cook something else after trying it but was too late by then.

Very nice staff service was very good but the lamb rogan was to chewy,and too much tomato need more juice.otherwise very pleasant to dine there.

I am normally a big fan of this contemporary Indian restaurant. But maybe it’s under new management? Went last night (19/06/2021) and it was well below its best. Drinks and popadoms arrived immediately. But then we waited ages for our order to be taken. After that waiters passed up and down countless times ignoring us and our empty glasses. Even when the food was delivered it was quickly dumped without anyone asking about more drinks. Eventually we got someone’s attention to order more. But the food was the real disappointment. Usually fresh and vibrant it was instead bland and barely warm. I tried to grab the manager’s attention but he seemed too busy berating his staff to visit any tables. Not a good experience. Not sure I will rush back there, sadly.

Visited Last night and wasn’t disappointed. The food was outstanding and the best Indian I’ve had for a very long time.. The vegetarian Dhansak was perfect, as was the rest of my meal. The manager, (possibly owner) was welcoming and the restaurant was tastefully decorated. I wish I lived nearer but would definitely do the 1hr plus drive to eat here again 😀

Had the tastiest meal last night and wanted to hop on here and leave a review. It was the first meal out after lockdown and was so genuinly great quality. Good service and felt welcome. I've been before when it's busy and have been in the back room, but much prefer when it has less people so perhaps best to visit on a week night. Loved it and would definitely go again.

Delicious. From start to finish, the hospitality is superb. The food is some of the best Indian cuisine I’ve eaten in the last year. I feel like my starter may have been microwaved and not cooked fresh, hence the 4, tasty none the less. However the main was simply delicious and just what I asked for. Reasonable prices for lovely food and a very friendly service. Would definitely go again and recommend!

Had a birthday meal here just before we went back into lock down , It is one of the best Indian's in the area , It sounds crazy but the special fried rice I had with my main really blew me away, something so basic really did make me say wow ! Cant wit to book a table when it re-opens

Our previous visits to Tufail have always been very pleasant. Unfortunately I have nothing positive to say about our most recent visit. My prawn on puree was tasteless. When I was served the wrong main dish the waiter offered to have it spiced up. I declined. When my meal did arrive it didn't taste anything like on previous occasions . A few pieces of chicken were gristly and inedible I suspect their using inferior ingredients. I had difficulty attracting a waiters attention so I decided to eat what I had. Normally their very attentive and notice when you'd like another drink and finished your meal. It was almost as if he was purposely ignoring us as he kept walking past.. . We had to prompt the waiter to clear the table and requested the dessert menu .After waiting 15 mins with the menu and not asked what we'd like I asked for the bill instead. Which came very promptly(£180] .Considering the restaurant was half full I told the manager the issues and was told "we all make mistakes". Yes we do. Ours was going there .We'll never go back there again.

Excellent food whether you have take away or dine in the restaurant best Indian food I have ever tasted. Nothing is too much trouble. Friendly efficient service from the moment you enter the restaurant. 100% every time.

I come here on a regular basis, sometimes just with my Dad and sometimes as a whole family. I cannot compliment the food enough! I have tried so many other Indians and no where comes close to Tufail. I try a different curry from the menu every time but my brother always does for the same, so on his behalf I must say their Chicken Korma is just amazing. Good quality food, good sized portions and the most amazing, welcoming service. I come here probably once a month as it is my favourite dining experience in the area!

Our group of four eat here regularly on a Friday night The service is always great, the waiters are always polite and attentive. The food is delicious consistently and the menu is varied. Good value for money. The restaurant is always clean and has a nice atmosphere.

I have always said I do not like Indian food as I do not like spices or 'wet' food ,sauces etc.Also put off by the smell of curry(another dish I do not eat!).However I must admit that my sense of smell was not offended when we arrived and did not cause me a problem at all during the evening.Because of my personal tastes my choices of food were limited but the range of food available was enormous. The rest of my family were more than satisfied with the quality and quantity of their selections. As for me I chose Chicken tikka as a starter as it was grilled on a skewer and did not have lashings of sauce with it. My choice for a main course was buttered chicken which was served ,as expected , in a dish with a copious amount of yellow sauce , which did have a bit of a bite to it. So having scrapped off the offending liquid I could eat some of the chicken.Overall I did enjoy the evening out with 8 members of my family but would have preferred it if the restaurant had offered some English cuisineThe staff were very friendly and although the service was a little slow at times (again understandable as the place was packed full with barely a table to spare) I changed my opinion of using this type of restaurant.
