Meopham Tandoori in Gravesham

Food was good, service was really bad, we had popadoms before we finished them our mains arrived, they didn’t come back to see if we wanted another drink or to see if everything was ok. We stopped for a breather and then they appeared with takeaway pots and a bag. We had only been in there 55 minutes. We then paid cash and part card, were he then stood at the table and counted the money, which me and my sister thought rude. Apart from that can’t complain about the food

Hmmm, where do I begin. Went here with the family on a Saturday night had to wait a while before ordering drinks. Normally when drinks arrive the waiter knows who ordered what so shouldn't have been confusing for a family of four. 3 soft drinks and a Cobra for me - the Cobra was placed between to my youngest and wife. Then when the starters came which were hurriedly placed on the table, as was the mains without asking who's was what and in the end we had to move the dishes around ourselves. It was like being dished out prison food. Me and the Mrs were just looking at each other in bewilderment. As for the food, well it was not to our taste. I know all food in restaurants vary in taste, but dishes were not spiced to the levels you would find in other restaurants around Gravesend for example. The dishes tasted sweet, sag paneer was awful, not sure what they put in it bit it was a yellowy green. Not sure if they made it all a little blander to suit the western palate, which would surprise me, as everyone knows what a good curry tastes like. I know it was a Saturday night, and they may have been busy, but save the rushing around for the kitchen, or getting the food out. When it comes to serving a little customer service and soft skills goes a long way.

Very happy! Our food was amazing. Would definitely recommend. We actually had a takeaway on this occasion. But have eaten at the restaurant before and really enjoyed it.

Went with 6 adults & 2 kids for the Sunday buffet - great food, great value! Really friendly staff & there was a good variety of dishes in the buffet.

Ordered a takeaway last minute and even though it was close to closing time they was still happy to drive out and deliver. It was honestly one of the best takeaways I’ve had in a long time, not one thing I could fault. Will definitely be ordering again, great service and even better food

Booked via telephone and managed to be squeezed in literally. Tables fairly close together but was packed so good sign as far as food was concerned. They do dine in, take away and I believe delivery in certain areas. Food was lovely and plentiful.

We went there Sunday evening having forgotten that all pubs will not served any food after 7pm. The tandoori restaurant was great. We took 3 different dishes and there were very different but all good and tasty. So to keep in mind for our next stay in Kent

Haven’t been here in a good while, I guess it has changed hands now. The food and the service was very good, much better than the surly service we had last time we visited, would definitely recommend now.

Fantastic meal tonight. Group of 4 for a birthday meal. Food/ service great. Beautifully cooked and hot..was pretty quiet as it was a Monday night. Definitely go again. Our friend which has a lot of allergies was well catered for. Staff were very helpful

Popped in here last Sunday 24th March 2024 was very busy as quite a few people were having the buffet which did look great value ... We ordered from the menu the food was excellent definitely recommend this place if you are ever in Meopham ...✅

One star is generous! Took over two and a half hours to arrive, boxes labeled wrong so was a lucky dip, nann bread was burnt and the vegetable one had nothing in it. Poppadoms were stale, very poor experience and won’t be ordering again

The best Indian I have had in a long time. Food was great and the staff were so friendly. And bumped into old friends. Defently our favourite place to go.

Interesting experience - thought we would check out this place when passing , wellllll I never !!!! They added so much sugar into the dishes we actually couldn’t eat them !!!! Poppadoms were good , should a shame we won’t be back again

Amazing food with great service

Prices and consistently of the food are totally out of control. The owner is stuck in a time warp. It's not enjoyable eating there anymore. The staff used to be happy and joke with you. It’s like a morgue now. The staff are miserable. PLEASE BE AWARE THE STAFF DO NOT RECEIVE ANY TIP YOU LEAVE FOR THEM. Please give the staff the cash tip directly.

First time trying to order. Told an hour delivery for Saturday night. Not a problem until it's been hour and a half then ring the restaurant to be put on hold for another 10 mins told it's not left them yet and currently being made. Told them to cancel order then as over 2 hours not acceptable. They hung up on us. Very rude attitude. Not helpful at all. Wil not attempt to try again. Menu put through our door on Thursday this week yet when ordering the price was over £6 more.. their excuse is this is an old menu.. then why post them. Feels like a con really The reply shown from the restaurant here shows what type of people run this establishment. Terrible attitude to have. The staff are rude clear as day but blaming the customers or potential customers these people do not deserve to be in business.

Ordered a home delivery waited 1 1/2 over the top of delivery ther went to wrong place and tried to blame me then when I got it inside the tubs was all leaking all the curry in the bag so all over the unit had curry juice never again will I order from there

It had been a while since we visited this restaurant, but our previous visit has been very enjoyable, with good service and good food. Sadly this is not the case anymore. After being given menus the waiters didn't come to take our order until asked. The waiter was gazing all round the room and my friend had to attract his attention back to us to ask about a curry. The waiters seemed much more interested in the takeaway orders than their seated clientele and I found them quite rude. I ordered a mild curry which was rather sickly sweet. 2 of our parties ordered quite hot curries which they said weren't very hot at all. The ladies toilet was not very clean and the only small amount of toilet roll was on the wet floor. It was a very disappointing experience and I won't be returning.

Just back from holiday and ordered my favourite chicken madras with saag bhaji. Sooo delicious I highly recommend this restaurant always spot on 👌

Ordered a takeaway for collection and was advised 25 mins. Currently been 50mins from order. This will is a restaurant I have used for 20 plus years and will now be looking for a new Indian Takeaway locally. Very disappointing shouldn’t take orders when they can not cope with the volume Plenty of other places locally for me to try.

I have been a regular customer here for over 20 years, but my recent experiences mean I shall eat here no more. I recently ordered a takeaway when friends were visiting. The biryani was dry and inedible and the shaha lamb was tough and inedible in a flavourless sweet coconut sauce which lacked any spices or flavour and bore no resemblance to its description. Both went in the bin. Thinking this was a one-off bad experience, we went on Saturday for an evening meal. I ordered chicken tikka madras, described as spicy and hot. I got a plate of bright red tomato and coconut sauce with some small pieces of pale chicken in it. That's it, there was nothing else, no softened onions, garlic, ginger, cardamom, chilli, garam masala, cumin, turmeric, no spices of any description, nothing! I don't know why I didn't send it back straight away. I think I just wasn't expecting such disappointingly poor cooking. It was just two spoonfuls of coconut puree with some tomato juice, warmed through (it wasn't even hot temperature-wise) with five small pieces of un-seared chicken. The mushroom pilau rice was swimming in a pool of yellow grease too. I did tell the waiter how disappointed I was and they did reduce the bill by the cost of that dish, (£10.95 !!!) but I am so disappointed after both experiences that I feel it needs to be shared so that you avoid similar disappointment. I won't be going there again until I can be sure that their standard of cooking has massively improved, and I mean massively. .

This is the second time I have been served up a plate of sweet coconut sauce without any spices or flavour whatsoever (apart from coconut) which bore no resemblance to what I had ordered. Chicken tikka masala, spicy and hot? No, just tomato puree and coconut sauce, no caremelised onions, no spices, no seasoning, no flavour. I have been a regular here for over 20 years, but not any more. Clearly coconut sauce is cheaper than the proper ingredients. Well good luck with that one guys, soon you won't have any customers.

Best food ever! Highly recommend going here, the food is just amazing. It can't describe how good the food is with words, you just have to go and try it. The portion sizes are better than the prices. I recommend the meat tali with a plain naan and plain rice. The best bit about this place is that you can ask for 1 pint of diet coke or pepsi. The staff seem to really like their job and they are friendly. The price is worth it, especially if you choose to go on one of the many buffet nights.

We live in Holland, but whenever we visit our family in UK, we make sure to come for a meal here! Food is absolutely great, and they have the best mint dip we have ever tasted! Untill the next time!

Simply the worst we ever had, tasteless chicken was as tough as old boots, the biryani was disgusting in fact the whole lot went in the bin it was disgusting

Simply amazing, we love this restaurant. The food is sublime, we have been lucky enough to have been eating curry for over 30 years and this restaurant is spectacular. The service, food and attention to detail is sublime. We can’t rate highly enough.

Just been for the Tuesday Banquet, what a delightful restaurant, the people are lovely, the food absolutely delicious, would highly recommend.

Left waiting over 2 and a half hours for a takeaway, we live 10mins from the curry house

Although the food is great, the challenge is getting it! We've had terrible service here before, and it seems that walk ins and take-away orders take priority over customers sitting in the restaurant waiting patiently for their food. Sadly, this takes the edge off the whole experience, especially when you are paying a premium for the restaurant dining experience.

Popped in for their popular Sunday Buffet with the wife and in-laws. The in-laws wanted to order from the menu, which took a little while to cook. This being the only negative. The wait staff were friendly, and didn’t over do it with how many times they asked if we wanted anything (which at times I find to be more of a hindrance, especially when trying to socialise with the table). The buffet though, on the right week, is the shining star. Especially their onion bhajis. Beautifully crisp, whilst still holding an absolutely amazing flavour. I’m not a big eater, but could not help going up a couple of times. The salad bar was fresh and cool, which is really nice when working against spice. The entire meal was flawless in flavour. I will return!

First time here. Booked for the Tuesday Banquet Night and walked into a full restaurant. Ambience service and food was good. Popadoms, any starter, main, rice, side dish and Nan bread on the menu for £17.95. Enjoyable and good value in my opinion. Will return at some point again.

It was horrible we had a chicken korma and keema narm bread the chicken korma was watery chicken was pink and dry keema narm had minimal red stuff in it won't be in a hurry to order again

Food is usually good, but if they could just deliver on time it would be our fav. Unfortunately the takeaway we just got was and hour late. For the third time. Always 2hrs+ from ordering lately. And this time food was cold too. Last time I think. What a shame. :-(

Meopham tandoori has got even better lately. We’ve enjoyed it so much we have been back three weeks in a row. Nice and friendly, good food and excellent value especially on Tuesday’s banquet menu👍

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, Ive long said this was my favourite restaurant and I’ve often recommended it However the takeaway I had the other night, s treat for myself on eve of my birthday, was incredibly disappointing. The lamb was more like 1-2 day old mutton and overall it just wasn’t like I remembered sadly. I don’t think I’ll be coming again sadly

Lovely place, good food and service but we are vegan and upon asking a waiter if a dish was Vegan...he agreed it was but it was not. Luckily we asked another waiter as I had my doubts anyway. It's not ok to give vegans non Vegan food.

Service on New Years Eve was terrible. Whilst no one would mind waiting extra time given it was busy, having to ask 3 times for nearly everything was extremely poor. Very short staffed, really poor service and a not very enjoyable meal overall. A shame as we have visited many times and usually enjoy, but this was one of the worst meals we’ve had for a long time, ruined by the chaotic and forgetful service. We did highlight this on the night, but it was simply brushed off by each person we raised concerns with. Not a great meal at all.

Placed an order at 5:40pm for 8pm delivery to make sure they had good notice based on previous reviews and personal experiences. After 4 chasing calls, it arrived 2hrs 55 mins late and needed microwaving. No apology. Just “it’s busy”. We’ve had orders from them before that were badly late but this was crazy. Such a shame because when we have eaten in the restaurant before, the food has been good. Definitely a repeat customer lost.

Ordered at 7.30 pm did not arrive until 10.45. When I called them they put the phone down on me. Food arrived cold. Don't like doing negative reviews so this sucks... AVOID THESE AMATEURS Nuff said😡

Over an hour wait to collect a takeaway, no social distancing in the restaurant, lots of people waiting outside. Unfortunately, the restaurant have become greedy, accepting just eat orders, phone orders, walk in orders and guests eating in. Completely unable to cope with the demand but also unable to say no it seems. Will be avoiding this restaurant and finding somewhere with better service.

3 hrs to deliver a takeaway, appaling service and very rude managment. If you enjoy bad service then this is the place for you.

Poor value- prices have been increased on the eat-in menu so I ended up paying a similar amount to before even with eat out to help out discount scheme. Drink prices were ridiculously high. Certainly ripping customers off and to think that they benefiting from the government at the same time. Poor spacing- 2m distance signs were on the floor but all the tables were placed less than 2 meters apart. Although there were some partition screens between tables, where we were sitting there were another 2 tables with customers adjacent to us without screens and less than 1 meter apart. Mediocre quality- food tasted ok but didn’t wow me. Rice was dry and not good. I have tasted better Indian food elsewhere but cheaper in price.Hygiene standard was worrying- a sanitiser “bottle” was available at the entrance with no content in it. Toilet looked dirty. The surfaces adjacent to the screen partitions were used as storage for clean glasses. These “clean” glasses were placed next to customers which could easily be contaminated.

Just eaten here as it was last day of “eat out to help out“. Food was ok, but prices have been increased the eat in menu and we were way overcharged, especially for drinks. Unfortunately some places are misusing eat out to help out scheme for their gain.

Only been here twice in a number of years, but enjoyed both visits. Comfortable surroundings and good tasty food, friendly service. Will be visiting again.

Had a great meal here on a Tuesday night, our first since the COVID lockdown. Tables were well spaced and all staff wore masks and hand sanitiser was available, we felt vey safe. Well done Meopham Tandoori.

I've eaten here before but due to coronavirus only takeaways were possible. I didn't call so I parked outside and they took my order just inside the door. They said it would take 30 minutes (I could see from the phones ringing how busy they were) so I went for a walk in Camer Park nearby. 30 minutes later, I returned and the order was there. We had chicken biryani, chicken dhansak (hotter than other indian restaurants which was good), vegetable curry, great pilau rice and a variety of side dishes. The food was rich, tasty and full of flavours - even when busy they obviously put the effort into their dishes. I have nothing bad to say at all about it. The price was also tasty - £42 for 5 of us and we still couldn't finish it! So well done Meopham Tandoori - we will be back for more!

been coming here for years, every couple of months or so. Sunday buffet is excellent- haven't come across another as good. A lot of the negative reviews on here seem to be about the takeaway service rather than eating in the restaurant. I admit that I've rarely come on days other than Sunday but overall I would thoroughly recommend.

Over priced! Crap food and rude staff! Would not recommend to anyone what a waste of money and waste of my time

I have been eating here for 18 years and never had a poor meal. The only quiet night is Monday and it is always busy for the rest of the week. Tuesday night is banquet night when you can order a meal at a discounted price. Sunday is Buffet day which is always very nice. The menu is changed every week. They also do takeaway and they will also deliver if asked. A word of warning, if you order a takeaway the portions are huge..There another Indian in the village, but most locals still use this one.
