We came here as it’s been recommended so many times . We sat at a table for two and ordered drinks lemonade for myself and peroni for my husband . When the drinks came the waitress slammed my glass down on the table ! The jacket potato was ok not hot enough to melt the cheese . My husband’s toasted sandwich was better. There was a young girl who ordered a plain omlet and when it came it was full of cheese so she told the waitress who without a word just picked it up and stormed off. I’ve heard of cafes where people go to have bad staff and rudeness and wondered if this was it !

1-min review: Pros: - lovely cakes, good size portions, tasty and not too sweet - main dishes generous portion size - food comes out super quick - lots of seating - lovely decor Cons: - not enough air-con on hot days, which makes eating inside fairly uncomfortable due to the architecture of the place - service is a bit slow, not as super-friendly as you would expect - quite pricey Overall: Good place to go for the atmosphere and experience of good English tea and cakes, but might want to avoid on very hot/humid days. Also, quite pricey which might surprise you.

Had afternoon tea here a long time ago but the cream was whipped and not clotted. So decided not to go again. Then recently a friend treated me to afternoon tea, and yet AGAIN the cream was whipped, the scones were hard and the choice of cakes were just a mix of small cheesecakes and a couple of macaroons which were sickly. There were no sponge cakes or anything different. The sandwiches were very nice and the choice of cake in the restaurant looked wonderful, sadly we didn't complain as it be was a gift but nonetheless disappointing. I don't think of afternoon tea without clotted cream!!!

Nice looking place, quite quaint. Stopped for some Breakfast last Monday 5/8. The Smashed avocado and poached egg was pony. It was actually pureed avocado and had an unusual bright green colour.... which leads me to believe it came out of a catering pack. Tasted horrible. Not smashed and not fresh Poor.

We had a lovely lunch and the most delicious flavoured sparkling waters (rhubarb and an elderflower). The team kindly accomodated our request for crispy bacon. We were a cover of 3 adults and a baby in a travel system. I did make it clear that we had a travel system and checked that it could be accommodated first. I completely understand if it wasn't appropriate given the layout of the building etc. One waitress was welcoming and showed us the route to the table. This did mean a fellow customer moving her chair. This didn't seem to be an issue, however on exiting the tea rooms, it clearly was a problem. We are sorry that our presence has caused an upset to the a customer. and only wish we were declined entry to avoid issues. I was made to feel very uncomfortable by the situation.

My Wife was reading about the Tudor Tea Rooms in Whitstable , in Kent and said she would like to have a " Cuppa " there on our way to Margate . The Tea Rooms were built during the 17th Century and has been beautifully preserved . There is both indoor & outdoor seating and they have a very comprehensive menu , from just a Cup of Tea to a Sunday Roast . We just had Tea & Coffee . We sat at a Table near the Door and beside the Table was a Plaque dedicated to the Late Actor , Peter Cushing who had spent much time in the Tea room as Customer and a Friend . We had a nice time , very friendly and efficient Staff and it was a Lovely "Cuppa"

We were left at the 'wait here to be seated' sign for quite a while, then my partner managed to catch the eye of on of the waitresses, we made our own way to the table. A few minutes later one lady came over with a menu and then left us for about 5 minutes. When she returned, I asked if there were any specials that were vegetarian, to which I was told no. I was offered a jacket potato with cheese & beans, I told her that I was unable to eat potatoes. Her reply was 'what! You don't eat potatoes?', I replied that I couldn't eat them. I was offered a cheese & tomato flan, I then had to say that I didn't eat eggs. So she asked if I could eat prawns (not sure what part of prawns are the vegetarian option that I asked for!!??), I just agreed to have the prawn salad. What arrived was NOT my idea of a salad, it was a portion of prawns, about 4 potatoes cut in half and a small side salad with some coleslaw. Not sure which bit of 'I don't eat potatoes' she had forgotten, either that or she didn't know what the salad was??!! Very limited vegetarian options & no vegan options. We won't be going again.

No apology from her or anything. The poor waitress looked embarrassed as this was in front of the whole restaurant. They had no other tables so decided to leave. I would like to say also that there were three tables free without notices on them saying reserved so maybe she just didn’t like children

Despite not being very busy we had to wait to be shown to a table. Staff seemed too busy chatting. Menus finally appeared just as we were going to leave. Apart from departing diners and a table that came in after us the place was empty but we felt very ignored. A lady waiter came over to take our order but then started chatting away to departing guests ( clearly regulars) immediately for quite a prolonged time with them standing immediately behind us. How to feel in the way! Cakes are on a small counter near the till so it can be hard to see what they are if people are paying ( and again. chatting). Cake was ok but it was the service that let this place down. Think it must be a haunt for regulars and , if you get into that category, probably a different experience.

Usually u have to hunt the fish under a thick crust of bland mash. Not this time. My pie was bursting with fish, topped with just enough mash and a deliciously cheesy topping. It rocked. They’ve got less tables. They’re cleaning everything so thoroughly- have seen them doing this when a customer leaves. And very importantly: they are taking down the phone numbers of customers so that if an outbreak were to occur, they can contact you. I’m so impressed - and I feel safer.

Stayed in Whitstable for the weekend, and had seen the good reviews for The Tudor Tea Rooms, so decided to pop in for lunch.Good varied menu anything from the usual sandwich stuff, to a 3 course lunch. We opted for a prawn, and a ham & cheese baguette with a side of fries. The baguette was lovely and fresh, the ham was lovely and thick cut, however there was a lack of prawns if we're being uber critical, but what there was, was very good. Then we had cake....the Victoria sponge was excellent, and the Bakewell tart was good too.A personal gripe of mine, stop using cheap ketchup!! But that's just me and doesn't affect my rating.Staff really nice, and food good too - worth a visit.

Simple the best breakfast in Whitstable. Menu offers a good selection and swops are always welcome. The staff are always very attentive and make everyone welcome. I recommend as a go to venue- as you will not find anywhere better and the price is fair.

Do you ever go into a restaurant that promises the world and you are really disappointed when they serve the meal? The Tudor Tea rooms isn’t like this, its great, wholesome no nonsense food. Our first meal was lunch piping hot and delicious and reasonably priced. Breakfast was equally as good great bacon in our sandwich great bread. Our Sunday lunch topped it all, several vegetables, lamb that was perfectly cooked. They have several options for dessert (included in the meal price) all delicious and served with speed and smiles - lovely people work here from the waitresses to the excellent chefs - we will return !!!

We ate hear for our lunch, on a busy Sunday 1 week before Christmas and were lucky to get a table as they were fully booked. We had the standard 3 course meal which had plenty of choices. The staff were very friendly and helpful and served the food and drinks promptly. The food was very good and served piping hot.

Yes, black beams with the odd horse brass affixed, blue and white willow pattern plates perched in niches, red and white gingham tablecloths, wow this place is what the name suggests. But what about the food and service? Well; it’s brilliant. I spied the clean windows on entry, always a good sign when a proprietor has the eye to keep glass clean, be it the window or drinking variety. The place was packed, just one empty table with four place settings, yet the delightful waitress ushered the two of us straight to it. I said to the brunette, it’s busy, be prepared for a long wait. But no, our order was taken, the food arrived, we both enjoyed a delicious BLT with a pot of REAL tea, with, wait for it.... a tea strainer, call me old fashioned but that is what I like (even if it was plastic). There’s nothing I can fault with this place. We even sat at the late, great, Peter Cushing’s favorite table! See you next time, thank you team, front of house and behind the scenes.

We chanced upon this with our children and grandchildren and they found us a table amongst a busy restaurant. The staff were friendly and the menu offering some tasty favourites. Perhaps a little pricey but the ambience and the food made it worth while. Definitely worth a visit.

We went in for lunch on Sunday 22nd Sept and was shown to a table by a very pleasant young ladywho then took our drinks order whilst we perused the menu. Two of us had roast lamb and the other a home made steak pie. All three meals were well portioned and were a delight to eat. We then ordered more drinks and two lemon sponges with custard and a bread and butter pudding with custard , again the desserts were a delight to eat with the lemon sauce being just tangy enough to go with the sweetness of the custard. All the staff that we could see were very friendly and always smiling. Will be visiting again when in Whitstable.

We visited for breakfast on a hot weekend so the town was very busy. They have a small but sweet courtyard away from the road. The service was quick and the breakfast was average (reflected in price) but decent portions. I would return but not before trying elsewhere as there is plenty of choice in Whitstable.

Love this place because it does what you would hope it did. Great level of customer service. Nice food, well priced. Apology if your order comes a little slowly. Pay as you order. Great location. Will definitely return. Enjoyed a simple but enjoyable poached eggs in toast. Had a full English on previous visit and thoroughly enjoyed.

Super expensive with miserable staff. First time I have visited in a few years and noticed no longer used by locals, probably can't afford it. No ambience or character left, so disappointed.

I recommend the taster tray to sample five thirds of different beers (assuming you can't cope with five pints!). It's the best way of trying their wide range.

Great menu, plenty of choice. Enjoyed three stunning started, so filling that could not manage all of the main course - which was also tasty. Good wine range and everything great value for money. Not too busy so able to catch up with friends. Have always had a positive experience here

Since Adrian retired and Andy and Clive left, the cafe (and showroom), have gone seriously downhill, £2 for a cup of Nescafe!!! only one or two customers, there is no atmosphere, or banter in the cafe or showroom, it's more or less been turned into a car showroom, i.e. only interested in closing deals, "goodbye, next! I don't think it will be long before it's closed!
