Tudor Kitchen & Grill in South Ayrshire

Been going to the tudor for over five years ,but our last visit was disappointing. The menu had changed and the prices had went up but the portion size had went down.service and staff were fine but at the end we paid the bill and gave it to the girl .we were waiting on our change to arrive for about 15 mins , but it didn't come .the bill was 82.00 and we gave 90.00 I approached the counter on way out and told the girl that we were still waiting on our change but we were giving it as a tip .the girl apologised and said sorry .just prefer my change to come back to the table .

Made a trip to Ayr mid-week to make the most of the slightly better weather, and visited the Tudor for lunch. Pleasantly surprised with the price of the 2 course menu - 2 courses for £15.95 which we took full advantage of, but the food choices on the menu were classic/basic Ayrshire style food with nothing really interesting or different on offer. I had fish and chips which was nothing special, and apple crumble which was delicious. My wife had mac and cheese followed by ice cream, and she really enjoyed it. Nice coffee after lunch. If a quick and simple meal is what you are after, I would definitely recommend visiting the Tudor for some lunch.

Shocking customer service very rude! And splitting the bill was a joke staff didn’t have a clue what they were doing! Aswell as staff all being teenagers and seemed to be no supervision around

I’ve been coming to the Tudor since I was little my mother and have been since. This is the second d time in recent months I’ve noticed the quality of the food has went down hill I had chicken with peppercorn sauce.the presentation was awful but the sauce was that disgusting I had to scrape it off. My friend had the steak pie and it looked like mush.We won’t be coming back plus the expense

First time eating here, atmosphere was great, food portions good, food presentation and taste 👌. Didn't feel rushed, service was good. Value for 💰

Absolutely gem of a place. Brilliant and happy staff and amazing food cooked fresh and served piping hot. Excellent choice of food on the menu for all tastes. Restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Really good value for money too, very recommended

Food was excellent but the only thing stopping us giving 5 out of 5 was the service. The woman serving was in far too much of a rush. When she pickled up my plate the knife fell off and made a mess of the table and also splashed a small bit of sauce onto my shirt. We both had 2 courses and the food was great and very good portions. Will return and would recommend.

Lovely spacious restaurant, good seating arrangements. Large choice of food available with specials of two courses for £19.99. A la carte menu available also. The staff were welcoming, the table staff were young, attentive and eager to please. Food plentiful delicious and well presented. If we were in Ayr again we would certainly make a return visit.

My wife and I have been in here 3 times this year so that should tell you how good this place is. The food is of really good quality and prepared great. The service is also different class. I would definitely give this place a try. Special shout out to the young male waiter we had yesterday 10/10. Thanks again and we will be back soon.

Tried thus restaurant last night and came back again tonight as the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend. Melt in the mouth beef home made soup pate and solel all great.

Where do I begin? The manager herself is just fabulous, always with a smile on her face. The staff are super friendly, the service is second to none and the food? Absolutely wonderful! Our favourite restaurant to go to. The swiss chicken, steak pie and cajun chicken pasta have got to be the best things on the menu. They have make your own pizza for the children and they get to put the toppings on themselves! It always entertains my son as he is obsessed sith pizza. The pudding selection is wonderful too. I honestly can't wait to come back!

Sad to say I was very disappointed in the time we were here, firstly it was very very drafty where we were given our table, it was a chilly night tonight and my partner kept his jacket on throughout the meal, he had the steak pie, however when he started to eat it, there was coliflour and broccoli mixed in with the stew, who puts veg like broccoli under a steak pie it was disgusting, giving my partner no choice but to leave most of the dish, while finishing my wine the main doors were opened while the staff were bringing in chairs etc from outside. The table across from us were still eating their main course, it was only 8-50pm, by this time it was freezing, I felt sorry for the family who had obviously spent alot of money as they had fillet steaks. My macaroni dish was ridiculously portioned, a massive deep dish full to the brim, put me off. Wont be back!!

Their 2 course priced menu is a fantastic idea. Food is very reasonably priced and is of a quality better than some 4 or 5 star hotels. The Swiss Chicken is without a doubt one of the best plates of food I’ve eaten. Will make a point to visit the Tudor when I’m in Ayr. Great for a light lunch or a hearty meal.

I can only say this was the best meal i have eaten in years. Part of me wishes i had never eaten here as i know that i will be hard pushed to find a restaurant that will top it.

First Family meal post lockdown..We were seated in our own wee annexe close to the loos.All of our Party thoroughly enjoyed every course as the food was just amazing and the staff were very attentive and professional I would absolutely recommend the Tudor..Can't wait to return.Thankyou again to the hardworking and pleasant staff big pat on the back guys..

Excellent food and decent prices but we visited on a Friday night and place had the radio on, so no atmostphere! If you can't make an effort for a Friday night guys, that's poor! Female staff very attentive, agree with previous review 're male member of staff needing customer service training! Please make an effort with music and atmosphere folks, your food is very good! Was here on Wednesday night and the meal was amazing, those girls work so hard getting all the food out, well done to everyone who works there, excellent service .

Me and my partner got married in his parents garden in Alloway and the Tudor kindly offered to deliver us some food for 19 guests when other restaurants in Ayr refused to. It was some really great food and multiple of our guests were raving about it. I'd thoroughly recommend using The Tudor if anyone is planning to do similar outdoor weddings or want a meal out in Ayr. Vivien was really nice and helpful!

My family and I had a gorgeous meal this evening at the Tudor. The food was beautiful and the staff were exemplary in their service. As this has been the first time visiting a restaurant since lockdown I was nervous and unsure of what to expect. The staff made us feel so welcome and I'm glad we chose the Tudor for our family meal post lockdown. Cant wait to visit again soon.

The Tudor have revamped the restaurant to comply with the new regulations for social distancing after lockdown. They have a reduced menu but still plenty of choices and the food was excellent. We ate here on the Wednesday 15/7 which was their first day back and were impressed by the changes they had made. The fact that we went again the next evening says it all

So pleased to be able to go out for a meal again after lock down.The staff were friendly and welcoming as always. We've missed them. Food was fabulous. I am coeliac and I always have a great choice, staff are knowledgeable and always willing to ask if a recipe can be adapted for me.We both had mushrooms to start with - delicious (mine gf) , my partner had steak pie and I had the cajun chicken pasta (gf). Can't praise them highly enough, and it's so nice to go out for a meal and trust that it is definitely gluten free. Ignore any negative comments, some people cannot be pleased, and we all need to recognise that due to covid things aren't quite back to normal so menu's everywhere are slightly restricted. Starting off no Chardonnay wine next no baked potatoes also no pickle for cheese and pickle sandwiches which was on the menu. So disappointed with our visit no one asked was our meal ok. Manager was to busy saying to people she was at the sister restaurant helping out. Maybe stay at the Tudor and see what is needed there.

Visited the Tudor for breakfast with my partner, the female member of staff couldn't have been nicer but the male member of staff was abrupt and requires his customer service skills reviewed. Subsequently we left without ordering, deciding to go to Stage Door where at least the staff are pleasant. Won't be back.

Went in for the rack of ribs they have advertised outside only to be told they had none left decided to stay anyway wish we hadn’t Food not great and overpriced for what we had one member of staff extremely abrupt will never be back

Excellent tasty mushroom soup for starter. Ham really tender. Pity about the background music which was much too loud and not to our taste.

Dropped in for a quick light lunch on Sunday, prior to cinema visit. All we were looking for was a light snack/sandwich & coffee. We were told they only serve meals on Sundays. This is not displayed anywhere inside or outside the Tudor, or on their website. I phoned in advance to ensure they were open on Sundays and was not advised that they only serve meals on Sundays. We settled on a bowl of soup which was warm, rather than hot! Web site menus need updating to reflect reality!

First time eating here but would certainly return. Food was fresh and excellent helpings. Great menu choice and reasonably priced.

I have been a loyal customer for years , I stay 50 miles away but dine regularly. The service is great , food fantastic especially the desserts. My grandpa and I always dined here from when I was small so the restaurant holds very special memories. Definetly the best place in Ayr to eat and prices excellent for 2019. Highly recommend

19 teenagers (16) enjoyed a dinner evening on a Friday night to celebrate a friends birthday. Excellent service, excellent food and not one complaint. Ribs were amazing, sorbet clean fresh and a little zing. Everyone loved it great choice and wonderful helpful service. Usually teenagers are not treated very well (I've witnessed this often in other places) but staff were excellent. Brilliant night for them to celebrate a birthday and definitely they will return.

Called in here yesterday on a day trip. I have been many times before but many years ago. Same great food + value with great service, but inside has changed a lot for the better We got the Steak burger with chips£11 + Sampi with chips£12 We liked the look of the 2 course deal + next time we will go for that. We cannot wait to return. First class!!!

We had lunch over there and ate the mushrooms, the swiss chicken, the prawn fajitas, the icecream and the rhubarb pie. Everything was tender, juicy and tasteful. It was a wonderful cost benefit. It was possible to se that the kitchen is very organised.

We visited this place at the end of August while staying overnight in Ayr. The food was absolutely delicious. There was such a great variety on the menu that I took a while to choose but decided on the steak pie with roast potatoes. Under the steak pie was a bed of mashed potatoes - it was amazing! My husband chose the fajitas which arrived on a sizzling platter with all the side trimmings. He said they were the best fajitas he'd had in a restaurant!

Straightforward food done really well and very good service. Great for family and friends occasions and very well priced.

Doesn't really promote itself as a place to stop for coffee and there is plenty of competition in walking distance. However, if you fancy a really good coffee and great fresh fruit scone don't overlook the Tudor. Too many places either offer scones which are either out of the freezer[ the clue is if they ask you if you want it toasted] or enormous.The Tudor scones are just right good size and very fresh.

We visited here as a group of 5 for dinner on a Sunday evening, it was quiet when we arrived and we were seated in a booth at the window. Our orders were taken quickly and food arrived in a reasonable time. The kids were given colouring pencils to keep them occupied. The kids menu was very good and the portions were large. Both adults opted for a main and dessert for approx £17 from the Sunday menu. We couldn’t believe our eyes when our meal arrived, honestly the ribs would have easily fed 2 people, there was so much food but it was lovely. The kids desserts were lovely and again very reasonably priced. For 2 adults and 3 kids, 2 courses each and a round of drinks was £55. Very good value and I would definitely return if in the area again.

We visited this restaurant on our golf trip, food was really good but staff are not the happiest & friendly you could hope for. But still well worth a visit!

Great place for a nice lunch....a must try is the club sandwich..... Been for the Sunday roast also very good. Value for money.

Myself the wife and two boys went here for lunch we had roast beef chicken curry and fish and chips the roast was ok the beef never had much flavour and was a bit fatty other than that can't fault this place the atmosphere was nice the service was good and the desserts were very nice had cheesecake the boys had sticky toffee pudding which they loved would go back for another visit

Went for a family lunch on Saturday 15the June. Prebooked for 6 adults and 2x2yr olds. Was offered a booth and told it would be big enough to accommodate us. Arrived with a double buggy and treated like second class citizens. Apparently “I should have told them we had a buggy “ apart from which it was obvious the booth was too small. After some embarrassment we got reseated However, the manageress approached to tell us I requested a booth.... no, I said “we didn’t need high chairs and a bench seat would be preferable” The food was fine although pricey... the attitude of the manageress was far from acceptable. Complained online and got a call back....clearly to let me know they were not in the wrong....Won’t be back !

The Tudor is by far the best place to eat in Ayr by a long way. The minute you enter you feel the relaxed friendly atmosphere. The choice on the menu is unbelievable, quality and presentation of food is first class and great value for money. It was so good I have been in 2 days in a row. Would highly recommend the Tudor and my aim is to work my way through the entire menu!!!!! Cant wait to go back.

Went here for our meal for our 10th wedding anniversary and as always food was excellent. Mushrooms to start which were delicious and swiss chicken for me, steak pie for hubby which were perfect. Service fast and friendly as always. Best wee restaurant in the town by far for food quality vs price

My wife & I decided to have lunch at this popular restaurant in Ayr township on the advice of the local postal mailman.

My niece was over from Canada visiting so 16 of us met up here food was very nice prompt and friendly staff would recommend to anyone. The new noodle dish that’s been added to the starter menu is my top choice

Came here as a group of 5 on Saturday night. Food was amazing and so reasonably priced. Staff were also lovely. Only minor thing was asked for steaks to be rare and they arrived more medium. The red pepper mayo is super. Would highly recommend it.

This evening I ordered a takeaway meal of a gammon steak for my husband and lasagna for myself. The lasagna and garlic bread were delicious but the chips were cold. My husbands meal was less appealing. His gammon steak was three slices of boiled ham that had been cut from a joint of gammon. Instead of having pineapple which was stated on the menu this meal had a slice of orange. This strongly flavoured the slices of gammon and totally spoiled it. His chips were also cold. As we live less than 5 minutes by car from theTutor the chips should not have been cold. The gammon steak was not as advertised on the menu as it said it was with pineapple or a fried egg. There was no mention of orange. Not acceptable Tudor really disappointed in you.

2nd time with husband and could not fault anything about it. Service happy and pleasant. Starter of mushrooms was superb and tempura lovely and light. Went for the Cajun chicken wrap excellent would have this again. Husband usually would not have picked this but said on his next visit he would choose it really fresh and hot.

Looks lovely and inviting from the outside. We turned up without a booking which was no problem we were seated and offered the drinks menu and ordered our drinks pretty much straight away.

My mother, my sister and I wanted to grab some lunch so we decided to go to the Tudor , both my mother and I ordered a baked potato with a filling however we were then told there was none left which cannot be helped and was no ones fault, therefore we both had chicken fajitas and my sister isn’t a very good eater , she only had a small side of macaroni. My mother and I both felt the good was extremely over priced. We all were given our meals and my sister was given a spoon for her food however the spoon she was given had a white substance all over and was very dirty therefore we asked for a clean spoon. After eating our meal we had the chocolate fudge cake as this is part of the 2 course lunch deal. The food was good enough however afterward we all had extremely upset stomachs and felt very poorly. It just so happened to be the next day our friends went here and it resulted in the same thing , they both were very unwell. Overall I think the kitchen is unsanitary and the dishes are not being washed properly in this establishment which would surprise me as this was why it was shut down previously.

We visited again, having been three times in the past two years, during out April break in Ayr. This is a must visit restaurant, fantastic food, super staff and a very clean and well set out eating area. To add to this the toilets are always spotless. We visited with our 3 year old Grandson, who loves the food here, although they do a Children's menu, the Chef does not make a difference, the quality of the children's food is excellent. Every time we visit, we feel very welcome, the staff are the best I have experienced in any restaurant. Add this to the exceptionally high quality food and you have the best meal out in Ayr. The prices are also very good, average main meal between £7 and £10, with drinks below average, price wise.

Great selection of gluten free - my husband usually has 2 or 3 things to choose from but from starters right through to the desserts he had a really great selection

Had a lovely brunch here. Very nice restaurant, lovely staff and great food. Will go back for one of their delicious cakes in the future.

I have been coming to the Tudor since as long as i can remember, I have been going more recently as im a creature of habit and you can never go wrong with the tudor, My latest visit i had chicken and rice soup then prok escalope with chips was amazing didn't leave a bite, The staff a cheery and well mannered, Very comfortable to sit, I sat with two friends i hadn't seen in a long time and had a great laugh the table behind us moved because of the laughing, I think some people need a personality transplant as i hear laughing quite often as it is at the end of the day a restuaraunt to chill and catch up with mates, I would recommend the tudor to anyone and everyone i meet,Always a joy

We visited for a family lunch, 4 adults. They have a set Sunday Lunch menu as well as the standard a la carte menu.

We had a good welcome and shown to our table. We did book but not essential. Nice choice from special 2 course and good sized portions.

We called in after reading reviews and we weren’t disappointed the level of service and speed was perfect you are not fussed around by staff they bring the food and drinks and let you get on with it which we really like we both had steak which was cooked to perfection all in all good priced food and drinks nice friendly staff we recommend to all

My husband and I made a great discovery when we chanced eating here. The venue was clean and sophisticated decor. The cuisine was stunning, the starters were delicious, the trio of fillets were excellent and only through necessity did I order a dessert it was the pavalovaaalovaaaa, with a generous ball of pink gin sorbet!!!! The staff were polite and attentive. This is definitely a new place for my list of excellent places to eat. Well done to everyone. See you again!!

After going lot to the kylstram this has similar food as owened by same person found staff here very friendly and good service Stuart was a good waiter also girl with blonde hair did not get her name spoke to the owner as well told him how good the Tudor was will definitely go back my favourite place to eat in Ayr now and have reviewed a lot of places at the moment in my opinion the best place to eat in Ayr my kind of food my wife loved it as well will be back

Went a trip to visit the Robert Burns museum and house for my daughter's school project and we had plans to have food as it was a 90 minute drive each way. We didn't know where to go so a quick Google and the Tudor caught my attention as the menu looked decent. We weren't disappointed. The kids loved their food and my wife and I were very satisfied and surprised how good the quality and taste was. Ample amount of food and very well priced. The place was very busy and the staff were so friendly.

I have been coming to the Tudor for over 12 years and feel it has been consistently good over that period of time. Always one of my family’s favourite places to eat in Ayr.

This was our first meal in the Tudor for a long time due to relocation. We met for a family lunch here and were very happy with the quality of service received and the quality of the food. The size of the portions was adequate and the prices were reasonable. I couldn’t fault any aspect of our lunch so will be happy to recommend The Tudor.

First time at The Tudor but heard great things. Booked a table for 6.30 and arrived on time. Seated at a booth, got drinks and food ordered taken fairly quickly. None of us were having a starter however our main courses didn’t arrive until 7.20pm. Food was great and decent portion size.

I have been to the Tudor on many occasions because i really love the food menus great and the service before was fantastic ..but my last 2 visits have not been pleasant due to one waitress young small brown hair who has a bit of an attitude. Went for lunch this week, we had asked for a booth and she muttered under her breath then the juices took ages to get to us she then came back and practically threw our starter cutlery down mine slid across the table onto my place mat she walked away.. very unaprochable and lacking is basic customer service skills shame front of house is letting the kitchen down as the food is great :(

Went with my father and brother. Management wouldn't let my Dad eat my dessert as I didn't want it,it was part of the 2 piece menu. Servers were nice. I won't be back. We went across to Vitos and had a lovely meal instead.

My brother and I went for dinner with our Dad this evening. Our Dad, who is in his seventies, didn't want a big meal to eat so I suggested he could have the starter of my two course meal. My brother, at the same time, also trying to be considerate to Dad, offered Dad his starter/dessert too. Our waitress listened to our conversation and duly took our order. Five minutes later we were approached by another member of staff informing us that 2 course meals can only be eaten by one person and cannot be shared. What? If I pay for a meal the restaurant dictates if I wish to share it. I have never heard the like of it, this is the most petty small minded restaurant I have ever came across - how mean and pathetic. Who would even try and police such a thing or be so miserable when an elderly man doesn't want a meal to himself? We were shocked. As a matter of principle we asked for our bill, paid for our drinks and went across the street to Vitos Restaurant for a beautiful meal. The whole experience left a BITTER taste in our mouths and we will never visit this place again. As a result The Tudor got a few pound for a few drinks whilst Vitos deservedly got £60 for great food and service. Small mindedness DOES NOT Pay. It's no wonder The Tudor was empty.

Visiting Ary for the week and we found this lovely restaurant on our last night for my partners birthday. Service and food were really good and the special dessert of banoffee pie was to die for. Highly recommend this restaurant you won't be disappointed.

I visited the Tudor for breakfast with my thirteen year old Grandson on a Saturday morning. We were immediately greeted as soon as we entered and not just taken to a table but asked if we had a preference - nice touch! Both waitresses that served us were pleasant and efficient, Stephanie who was our main server was especially friendly. The food was well prepared and HOT! I have no problem at all in recommending the Tudor and will use it again before long.

Lovely take away sandwiches, a bit disappointed that no sweetcorn, customer service could be better, a bit too the point.

Alright, the chicken temp was soggy battered! Maybe I just went on a bad day, I’ve heard some nice things about this restaurant so I’ll have to give it another go.

whilst staying at hotel in ayr visited the restaurant and the four of us had different meals The staff were friendly and efficient and we sat outside as the weather was lovely . The food when it arrived was hot and delicious. We had a two course which was enjoyed by everyone would go back again in a heartbeat as the menu was varied and very reasonable and the portions were generous

The Tudor has been a favourite of visitors and Ayr folk alike. A really good menu at reasonable prices. The management team also own the Kylestrome restaurant in Miller Road, which is another great place to eat.

We went to dinner with family, it was an early sitting, 4pm, as we had evening plans. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and prompt. The table was in the window so light, spacious and clean. We would definitely return.

Poor service, poor food staff not interested might have been a one off day but in the food game you just cannot afford a bad day

Lovely food at very reasonable prices. Although the restaurant was very busy at lunchtime the service was excellent. All the staff were extremely pleasant.

This is another visit to the Tudor , I am always very happy with the service and the food. Well worth a visit if you are going to Ayr.
