Best chip shop in Somerset! I travel around a lot and this place is the most welcoming that I have experienced in a long time. Special thanks to Daryl for such a warm reception, I had been travelling all morning and it was just what I needed. The food was great, the staff were lovely and all in a pretty little village setting, what more could I ask for? I will definitely be back.

Had sausage and chips the sausage was cold also battered beef burger.which wasn't cooked properly..

No fuss, tasty fish and chips. Got the cod. Enough as a snack for 2. Salt and vinegar was enough, with fluffy chips and crispy, well seasoned battered cod.

We came in today for an early lunch and we were so impressed! The food was incredible, the portion size was great, the fish was delicious, crispy and not too oily. The battered sausage was the best I’ve had, and the chips were fluffy, hot and delicious! The service was really friendly and welcoming, and super speedy too! I’m going to have to come back to Cheddar for this again!

this fish and chips was a disappointment. waited over 40 mins for some chips and a burger. chips were soggy and burger dry.

Came to visit Cheddar after a long period away from this side of the countryr and decided on Tuckers for some lunch. So glad we did as the meal was outstanding with no greasiness, lovely chips and great value. The girls in the shop were very friendly and attentive and no-one was ontop of each other because they tried cramming too many epople in - a particular irritation of mine. So thank you Tuckers and I would highly recommend them to anyone visiting Cheddar.

The takeaway part is small and as was visiting wasn't aware of how they pay one end and collect the other. The food was amazing so worth the wait (as was very busy)

Tuckers Fish and Chips is a great spot for a quick and tasty meal. The food was delicious, with perfectly crispy fish and fluffy chips. It was reasonably priced, and we were pleasantly surprised by how quickly everything was served. A perfect stop if you're in the area and craving traditional fish and chips!

We were a party of seven and the staff pushed two tables together for us , this place is always busy . We ate a mixture of Pasty and chips , fish and chips , sausage and chips . The food is freshly cooked and very tasty . Portions were just right . Staff were polite but very busy so we did have to wait a little while but thats ok .The cost is good value too.

Delicious as always. Big portions. Very good service from Anastasia, you can't always meet high-level staff. We will definitely come back again.

Really good haddock, chips and curry sauce. We did however find a hair stuck to a chip and some weird blue thing in the fish? Wasnt an issue as it was delicious and I would still recommend it. probably just a one off but did make me more aware of the bites I was taking

Sat right next to the river at the bottom of Cheddar Gorge is this little gem. A traditional fish and chip shop with a restaurant and take away in one. The food is gorgeous and reasonably priced too. Nice views of the lower part of the Gorge too

Best fish and chips ive ever had. Being local I've always gone here. I've never eaten in the restaurant but it looks nice and open, with windows that look out onto the high street. It's a very popular place and the staff do so well to keep up with the demand and go as fast as possible. Always friendly and helpful. Haven't been disappointed yet and I've ordered from them many times!

Best fish n Chips around - crispy batter, fresh fish and even a small chips was amply sufficient for one. Has a sit in area as well and restaurant and takeaway slightly separate to ensure the queues are efficiently managed.

Soggy chips, slow, unfriendly service. A 20-minute wait for simple sausage and chips, which when opened were soggy and undercooked. To their credit the sausage was OK. Front counter staff were kids who didn't look like they wanted to be there and were sauntering around, not really looking like they knew what they were doing. Will definitely be looking at going elsewhere from now on.

Me and my husband had the best fish and chips. The fish was delicious with lovely crispy batter. The chips were cooked perfectly. Reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

We are on holiday in Cheddar and really fancied fish and chips. We did the click and collect service which was very easy to do from the tuckers website. The staff were friendly and we collected our food with ease. The fish and chips were really hot, crispy and delicious. The large cod was a very good size. The curry sauce was also really tasty. We noticed they had a 5 star hygiene rating too.

The food was really nice. But we used the app to order with a pickup time, and we still had to wait another half hour for it to be cooked after our designated pickup slot. The staff didn't seem to have much urgency about them

The service was fast and the atmosphere seemed friendly, but when we got the chips, my friends and I found that there were some crunchy granules, not unlike sand, within them that slightly ruined the experience. It didn’t seem harmful in any way, but made the chips less enjoyable to eat.

An extremely long wait for our order which came in two parts....one hot fish but unfortunately the rest was cold, left on the counter for 10 minutes whilst the last fish cooked! Poor organisational skills of those waiting on behind the counter. One was desperate to go home.

Love the Fish and Chip here. The chips are great, but the fish is a different level. The batter is always crunchy and the fish moist. On top of that it's cooked fresh, so you wait a little longer, but it's very much worth the wait. Highly recommended.

Nice bit of cod - decent batter (I'm not a batter fan) - much better than when I last ate here but gave it a second chance (i think the previous time was a slow day) Btw: 3* means 'better than average' - often misunderstood Would go again - and that's the most important thing.

The best chippy we have tried. Always busy and good prices too. We sat on the benches and ate our dinner. See you again next May

Had a lovely cod and chips with curry sauce on the side. They do a good gravy which was also tasty. The girls enjoyed scampi and chips.

Where do i start.... Food was edible but not tasty, it was really hot as they have no windows you can open when you dine in, they had also mopped the floors and stairs ?? But it was very hazerdous nearly slipped down the stairs there was water pooling on the stairs and in the restaurant itself it was like an ice rink, and the burger i had you would think being in cheddar gorge they would use proper cheddar on the burgers but no plastic cheese, also need to teach the staff customer service, constantly asking for staff that should of been brought over

Lovely place with excellent fish and chips

Just tried to have dinner with our three kids. As soon as we stepped in we were told it was closed. There was other people having dinner. I asked what time they closed and a lady said between 6.30pm and 7pm. The time was 6.34pm. I felt very unwelcome, for obvious reasons. Will not come back. We checked opening times before we headed to this restaurant. It says open until 8pm.

Food was beautiful. Best chippy I've had in some time. Batter on fish was nice and crispy and light and chips were cooked beautifully definitely recommend and will b visiting again. Prices were good and portion sizes were decent.

I lived in Bristol for nearly 2 years and I would honestly drive the 28 minutes every. single. day for a portion of Tuckers Chips and Cheese. Wow!! Still to this day, best chips and cheese I have EVER tasted in my entire existence. Keep killing it guys.

Lovely food and staff. A large group arrived before us and we were pre-warned food might be delayed but it was minimal and certainly worth the slight delay. Two clean plates tells its own story ❤🙂

Popped in for a sit-down meal on a Tuesday evening. The place was empty, and the music booming. Not long after being seated, we heard the staff saying about closing restaurant which made us feel a little uncomfortable and like a bit of an inconvenience to them. The service was quick, and the food was delivered swiftly. My wife's fish looked good, but my pie and chips were missing the mushy peas. It wasn't an issue, but I did feel as though I couldn't really ask, seeing as two other people who came in to sit and eat had just been turned away, being told to order from the takeaway window. They did look a little disgruntled as they watched us tucking in... The food was tasty and hot, but I felt the portions were lacking in size a little... but I did really enjoy my lemonade! I would probably return, but next time, I'd probably go for the takeaway option...

Food was good. Cod was very nice. Portions were lacking a little. Music was very loud in the restaurant. My other half didn't get mushy peas with the pie, got given curry sauce instead which he didn't ask for.

Very bad service and disgusting food. Spend over 13 pouds for fish and chips. Not even got a napkin or salt and pepper. Food was greasy and not tasty. Could feel old oil in my mouth after. Then, he asked for sauces. Was asked to pay 15p sash. What a joke. Everything sells separately, and no information was given. Ladie, buy the till has no interest to help. It's very rude and not helpful at all. We spent 32 pounds for 3 meals, through to the bin, and went to eat to a different place. What a waste of money!! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!!! YEAH

Nicely adverticed, but really, you do not get it. When you go to the fish & chips shop you expect that. But all prices are separate, i doubt that anyone eats just fish :( Very very oily, left half of my food. Got take away, but no tissues, no source, and no spieces. I bet they have never been in proper fish and chips shop. Would not recommend it to anyone.

The service was moronic, ordered online for collection. then when we arrived decided we’d like to sit down as it was empty. Offered to pay the difference. But they couldn’t do it as it had gone through their system. The cod and chips were well below average. Won’t be back here again.

I have coeliacs and when I notified them, they went above and beyond to make sure my food was made safely and separately to everything else. They poached my fish for me so I could still have fish and chips so to speak. They informed me the first Monday of every month is gluten free so if you suffer like I do head down there. Great staff, great atmosphere and all round great experience

Absolutely amazing fish and chips from here, portions are huge my partner and I shared. The flavour in general was just outstanding I have never enjoyed a fish and chips so much, service was good. We went in just before they were closing food cooked fresh Wonderful!!

Wife had fish i had battered sausage with chips curry sauce and mushy peas, really good so good that we went back a second time the wife had fish 🐠 again and i had a saveloy both with chips and again both very good would recommend

I really like the atmosphere of the village.i liked the chicken nuggets more than the fish and chips. The fish was a bit oily. The curry sauce was good Still I liked the overall experience.

If I could give a 0 (zero) star rating or even a minus (negative) star rating I would it’s disgusting, disappointing and a real let down the food is worse than any homeless hostel food, believe me!

What a shame, this used to be the go to fish & chip shop for the locals as well as visitors. Sadly it's gone down hill, firstly the number one item- chips. They used to be crispy, tasty and plenty of them. Now they look like double fried chips that have dodged the second frying. The portions have also shrunk, once upon a time a single portion was great for two, now it's leaving you wanting more (unfortunately not more of the current offering but the proper chips that used to be the main stay.) The fish, okay, but rather than the big brother you get it's much smaller sibling. Winscombe chippy here I come!

This is a pretty popular "fast food" place in the centre of Cheddar. Nice and clean inside, tables and seats were in good condition. It was a lot quieter by the time I ordered and I had to wait quite a while for my take away to be ready. Fish & chips were a solid 4/5

We were so hungry after our cheddar hike and really wanted good fish & chips and Tuckers didn’t disappoint. Quality of food was great, It was served hot as I prefer. Very clean. Staff was also polite & attentive. Must go if you’re in cheddar.

Really lovely little chip shop while we were visiting cheddar gorge. Portions was perfect. Fish was delicious and the chips were amazing. Best mushy peas I've had in a while as well. My little boy order cod bites the were HUGE! he got 3 and they were more like a smaller mini fish. Very impressed

Wow what can i say we visited Cheddar last weekend and found this wonderful fish and chip restaurant the haddock was absolutely fantastic and my husband had the cod and that also was outstanding.The chips cooked to perfection and curry sauce and peas nice and hot .All round staff attentive and friendly .The cost very reasonable couldn't ask for better you have a wonderful team and that shows in your service .Your at the top end of the fish and chip trade thats for sure well done 👏 you gave top marks 👍
