Lovely little coffee shop. Great cakes. Surprised that it was so quiet after organ recital. Lovely staff and great service. A credit to the cathedral. Definitely worth supporting. Xxx

Terrible customer service, arrived yesterday just before 2pm. Asked for hot food and a rude voice from the kitchen shouted "the kitchen is closed" Terrible customer service and as it turns out very over priced food, I had a scone with butter, asked for some jam and was charged 75p for a tiny plastic tumbler of jam.. Won't be visiting again!

Read the reviews and saw the pictures for this establishment. So decided to visit, upon arrival the menu on the table was very sparse, when we asked about hot food we were told it wont be available to after 12pm. We then asked about a toasted tea cake (which appeared as an option on the board above the counter) and was told by a very rude lady, in a very un christian tone“Don’t have any” So we left, For a place thats looking for charitable donations the wait staff need a lesson in courtesy.

Really good food and good value for money. Last time we had the cottage pie that was delicious as was the soup. This time we had the roast chicken breast done in a lovely peppercorn sauce and the carrot and mashed swede and new potatoes. Really full of flavour and nicely presented. The chef obviously takes a pride in his work. The staff are really pleasant and friendly and efficient.

Called in this morning and both ordered a bacon sandwich and a coffee. Staff were very pleasant and the coffee was nice, the bacon sandwich however was terrible, it had a very strange taste, I could have sworn they had put garlic butter on it. We both left our sandwiches after one bite….we didn’t complain as the taste had put us both off and we didn’t want anything else from that kitchen.

Went to Truro on a day trip, lovely little town to walk around but the cathedral is something else, have got to say I’m biased here being a bricklayer, stonemason myself. The amount of work and quality of the work that went into this building is phenomenal,The arches and pillars inside are perfection and must have been done by the best tradesmen in Britain, the stain glass windows, everything exceptional. On the outside there are figures missing from their plinth but I understand they’ve been taking down to be repaired. The marble on outside along with the sandstone are wonderful and must be seen, definitely a must see.

Visited this restaurant whilst on holiday as we were in need of a coffee and slice of cake. We were welcomed warmly which was lovely. Our cake and coffees were very good value - there were a huge range of cakes to choose from, and we were impressed with the price. The restaurant became very noisy, so if someone in your party has sensory issues - perhaps it would be wise not to visit at busy times. Covid security was good.

Popped in today for something to eat.I had a small pup in my arms, and had been told by someone that we could eat there. As we sat down, we were asked to leave as no dogs allowed. Staff rude and unreceptive to the fact that one of the group that I was with, felt unwell and was indeed suffering a hypoglycaemic attack. How can dogs not be allowed in a cathedral/cafe when the week before there was a service specifically for dogs? They need to make their minds up!!Had to leave, made to feel very unwelcome. We went elsewhere.

I called in to the cathedral restaurant to join my friends who were having lunch. As I had already eaten, I only wanted a pot of tea, and possibly a cake or biscuit, which I was attempting to select from the counter. While doing so I was told it was table service only, so I went to join the others at the table who were already eating. After about 10-15 minutes no-one had come so I went up to the counter in case I had been forgotten to ask again and rejoined my friends. After a while I saw a waitress standing nearby and simply raised my hand to attract her attention. To my surprise the person I assumed to be the manageress came over and very loudly admonished me in front of everyone saying they were very busy and my tea tea was on its way. While I have great respect and understanding for the staff and the pressures they work under, no-one had been to take my order or let me know they were dealing with it. I did not respond as I didn’t want to embarrass my friends or draw even more attention to myself, but left feeling upset and humiliated. No customer should be subjected to this kind of treatment and what should have been a pleasant experience was soured by this person’s behaviour.

Last Tuesday went in for lunch like we always do when in Truro , they had a private party on and was told half an hour wait not a problem , any way placed order so just had coffee and scones ,didn’t think have to wait half an hour for a scone which is disappeared on the counter , I was going to have just a portion of chips as I like their chips told that would be over half an hour wait even for chips , looked up both chefs in the kitchen by hatch chatting with waiting staff , the people who came in after us also ordered chips and got them within ten minutes but some thing they didn’t have to cook the scones still waited half an hour for and had to ask twice for them and kept being told that they are busy and would have to wait , was watching how it was running poor lady behind counter doing drinks etc ran off her feet where the lady who served us and a guy just chatting and not helping , didn’t seem to be much team work going on , and to me not enough staff to cover private party and customers coming in , also should of been a notice up on entering a lot of people walking out , the lady who served us was also flapping a lot , now my money is as good as the private party , usually never have a problem there food is good etc , just disappointed on this occasion. , the scones we had was old and dry will not be having them again.

It’s not immediately obvious there’s a cafe located within cathedral precincts but it’s a handy spot to have a rest after wandering around the main structure - access from left hand side of cathedral interior, although there’s also an entrance off Wilkies Walk (if I recall correctly). Menu has very reasonably priced meals/snacks/drinks and it’s table service. Interior feels spacious but it does get busy and so you might have to wait for a table to become vacant. I think most customers are “locals in the know” and of course that’s usually a good indicator.

After wandering around the beautiful cathedral the smell of freshly ground coffee wafted its way over the aisle. So my wife and I followed into the restaurant. We sat on a deep sofa and were given a menu by a very polite waitress. We had spotted the cakes and scones on the way in so ordered from them even though the meals on the menu looked very inviting too. Nothing is rushed here so don't call in for five minutes. It is very relaxing though. And the food tastes great. Prices are very reasonable. Used the conveniences on the way out and they were spotless. Truro is such a nice little city with this beautiful landmark building in the centre. It feels like the hub of the community too with so much going on. I will definitely visit again. The chef there does a great job. We certainly recommend going an paying a visit but be warned. It is always busy, especially during the summer months and very popular. It's not uncommon for there to be only one or two tables available during the busy times. The service at the restaurant is mostly good (table service) but you can get forgotten a bit when its particularly busy. I often note that the waitresses are run off their feet when its busy! Also be prepared that they will sometimes host events in the room. We have turned up on some occasions where half the room has been reserved or the restaurant is closing earlier than usual. This fairly large restaurant deserves to be better known. From coffee and tea to sandwiches or generous portions of home-cooked lunch and afternoon tea and cakes it's extremely good value for money. Child-friendly it even has small tables and chairs for them. Tourists and regulars alike are made very welcome, my late husband had dementia and they treated him as a valued guest and friend and supported me after his death. Regular waitresses who add a personal touch by getting to know and remembering their customers. There's a sign above the counter to the effect "Please be patient as we do not serve fast food, just slow-food properly cooked which is worth the wait." Drinks are brought promptly but then you sit back, relax and enjoy the fact that you're on proper Cornish Time! This is true of most of the many excellent local eating places.

So we are in Truro on holiday trying to find a restaurant. Standing in a shop doorway on trip advisor with the teenage children getting hungrier by the minute. Stop looking and just go to the back of the cathedral. Here you will find a building which looks like the council library and inside looks like a village hall. What you will actually get though is a place which is clean. The food is freshly prepared and it's not going to break the bank. It's busy so you might have to wait but hey so what your on holiday. The room itself is big and airy and it gives you time to relax. You are also in a way giving some money to the Cathedral. We had scampi and chips. My teenage children had ciabatta sandwiches which chips to share as the portion is big enough and my wife had quiche. The food was all pipping hot and freshly made. It came to £30 with drinks so was very reasonable compared with a lot of the cafe and restaurants in the town which are all trying to be out of the ordinary. So look no further and pop along

After an organ recital in Truro Cathedral, we decided to visit the coffee shop for coffee and cake.We were pleasantly surprised at the coffee shop - airy and bright, with a good range of snacks. We were told to sit down and the waitress would come to us. The coffee shop was not busy, so we assumed service would be fairly quick. After half an hour's wait my husband said he wasn't going to wait any longer we would go elsewhere. However, as we prepared to depart a waitress wandered over to take our order. We complained about the time taken to be served, and were told she had been 'sorting out a problem'. This did not seem to have been the case as she had been wandering around with her order pad and returning orders to the clipboard behind the till with no sense of urgency. She was surly and I didn't see her smile the whole time we were there(The other waitresses & staff all seemed to be working very efficiently)I'm afraid the poor service probably means that we will probably not return to this very pleasant coffee shop.

Just eaten breakfast with Alice in the cathedral cafe Truro. As it says on the sign we don't serve fast food we serve good food as fast as we can. We have just had a full breakfast and egg hash brown and bacon sandwich served with tea. My order was taken fast friendly and efficiently even with my daughters additions and changes. We then received our hot fresh tea which gave us three cups each and freshly prepared hot breakfast which was delicious to say the least and all for under £12. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Truro if you want reasonably priced good hot food served in pleasant surroundings. A little treasure.

The food here has varied over many years but this set up is very good always receiving fresh well cooked meals no matter what time of day you go. The service is very good especially now it's gone to waitress service. There is an excellent selection of food which is always well presented and tasty. I would recommend this restaurant for a visit as it is set in the cathedral and gives you chance to have a look around and work of a bit if what you have just eaten.

Very (pleasantly) surprised. Having visited the Cathedral, we went to the Café without any great expectation, beyond looking for a decent cup of tea. Ended up having lunch, as the menu offered so much more. Good quality and good service.

Located in a large, airy school hall-like room. Somewhat 'sixties-style architectural features. Rather brutal-looking interior. Accessed through the cathedral, with toilets nearby. Service was okay but we felt non-regulars not that welcome (some groups clearly were regulars and received lots of attention). We had savoury main courses, coffees etc. Paid and left. We asked why a young couple were sat at a table with a table cloth, trimmings, were they perhaps having a special tea, getting engaged, celebrating something? No, some tables get table clothes, others do not was the reply. Hmm. We filled up with an enjoyable pastie bought from a bakery next to the cathedral entrance.

The place is pleasant and the staff are also pleasant. The food is quite nice. We both had the Spring special, a roast beef dinner with a free trifle. The runner beans were hard but the carrots and roast potatoes were ok. The beef was a little tough. The trifle was quite nice. Will probably have a sandwich next visit. Saw them and they looked good..

This restaurant is a 'bit of a barn' but the staff are attentive and the food very good and reasonably priced. Worth a visit if you come to the Cathedral.

Very welcoming, Great ice cream flavours. Especially the Ferrero Roche and Millionaires shortbread. Lady went above and beyond for our dog letting her sit in the shade on a 25 degree day to enjoy her pup cup. Thank you!

the only place open on a Sunday on St Martins! So glad it was open, it was absolutely heaving but we got there in time to get seats and what was left of the cakes and drinks.
