This was the first and the last time that I will set foot inside this establishment. The owner needs to change of the name of the place as it certainly isn't truly scrumptious, the place is a disgraced & the lady that served us kept making apologies for the state of the place. The place is cluttered with items behind the counter and in the centre of the store that shouldn't be there and as far as government guideline are concerned there wasn't any. Its so outdated and it doesn't have toilet facilities for customers. Definitely won't be going back again

I had lunch in Scrumptious. The staff were attentive and service was quite quick, although it wasn’t busy. The food was fine and I quite enjoyed it. The decor is a little off putting - very cluttered and a bit dusty. There is no public toilet, only a staff loo which I used and it was in a poor condition. I wouldn’t rush back.

Very basic (no customer WC). Decor is like stepping back into the 1950's - and not in a good way. Generally disinterested staff. Only stopped for coffee/cake but the tray bake was slightly stale. Only plus was that it was relatively cheap but I will not be returning.

Sign over the door says ‘Truly Scrumptious, Vintage Delicatessen’, this is none of those things, the food is average at best, and although a limited menu often indicates good food this one doesn’t, there is nothing on the menu that is in any way, special. The inside is small, dirty and uncared for with fly blown windows, weed filled hanging baskets, food splashes and layers of dust. However, our table was freshly wiped and crockery and cutlery looked clean. The decor creates a shabby (not, chic) ambiance helped only slightly by the ‘vintage, 50,s’ music. All in all, a real shame as with some hard work, ‘elbow grease’ a bit of style, both to the decor and menu, the location could make this a real winner.

My friend and I went into here this morning. We thought it would be nice to sit at the table overlooking the garden. The waitress then came over and said we could not sit at this table it was for 4 people. Given that there was only one other person in there at the time we could not see what the problem was. This café has totally the wrong attitude to customers. They should be looking after their local customers. We are the ones who are here all winter. I will not be going in here again. The shame about it is the food is quite good.

I live locally and unfortunately haven't used this cafe in quite a while because of the "don't sit there" policy. My friend and I visited today - give the place a second chance and all that - only to be told we would have to move from the window seat if a party of 4 came in. This wasn't the only table to seat 4 but what annoyed me was that there was only one other customer in there and over 15 seats available. It's a shame because the sandwiches etc are good but I certainly won't frequent this place again.

Used to be good, but recent visit very limited deli options. We had our dogs with us and had been turned away by the Eskdale Hotel, and knew from previous visits to Langholm we couldn't take them inside, so tried to buy some takeaway items as we were starving. Soup had run out, no ham or bread in the deli to make a sandwich so we drove to Hawick. Had come all the way from Gretna.

We stopped for coffee (flat whites) and cake. The cake was fine but the coffee was awful even though there was an impressive-looking expresso machine. We assume that the person who made the coffee did not know how to use it or make flat whites. The café is probably best avoided if you are a coffee drinker.

I visited Langholm last year and remember this place as being very busy and so I ignored the poor service and unfriendly staff. However I returned today thinking perhaps I had misjudged this place to be treated the same- I was told one table is always kept spare so couldn't use it unless there were four of us ( there were two) . The woman behind the counter made no effort to speak to me though I was clearly waiting to speak to somebody. We were visiting Langholm and I decided to have a coffee while waiting for my husband. I am severely visually impaired and had asked if I could sit at the window table as I wished to look at one of the magazines. The smaller table which I was sitting at was in a very dark area of the restaurant and I was finding it difficult to see. I was told by the waitress that the table at the window was for four people and would be required if they got busy. There were three people in the restaurant and I was one of them? After informing the waitress of my disability she said I could sit at the window but would have to move if more people came in. I refused her begrrudged offer as I felt this was unacceptable and degrading especially because of my disability. I drank my coffee quickly so I could leave and I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Visited Langholm today with my sister and popped in for a coffee and scone as place looked nice from outside. The waitress directed us to a table for 2, as we had dared to sit at a table for 4 by the window!! I might add, the place was empty apart from one other table. We were then completely ignored until we approached her. We were handed menus and told her we knew what we wanted to order. She ignored us, said nothing, disappeared and started doing something else!!! We considered leaving at this point but she appeared again and took our order. Lovely scones I have to say. Before leaving I asked to use the toilet. With a very unfriendly glare a different woman told me, ''we only have a staff toilet but if you really need, it's through there." Unbelievably she then said,'' Is it only you, because it's got a very short flush.''!!! By now I was starting to laugh - I used the loo (with the short flush) and we made a hasty retreat! Needless to say we didn't leave a tip!!!Come on - it doesn't take much to smile and be friendly to your customers

The sign above the door suggests a Vintage Tea-Room, In reality, it's a few tables off the front shop which seems to be used mainly as a take-away for local workers and school kids. It wasn't immediately clear if we should order at the counter or sit at at a table. There were no menus or sandwich lists visible. We eventually got to a point where we were offered a menu and ordered some sandwiches and drinks. The food is definitely the redeeming quality of this cafe. Lovely fresh sandwiches, well filled and served with fresh side salads. We chose a scone and a slice of cake to follow which again were very tasty and fresh. The essence of a vintage tea room is there, but the plastic table cloths need to be replaced with cloth, the toilet has a very unwelcoming 'staff access only' sign next to it (We chose to use the public toilets across the Square rather than ask permission to use the Cafe's toilet) Some soft furnishing and a warmer room would all help to increase the comfort of visitors. Great stop off for food, and the cafe is fine. The promise of a Vintage Tearoom leaves you a little disappointed.

The cafe looked nice from outside so we stopped for a sandwich and cuppa - our waiter was very friendly but unfortunately the lady who was doing the cooking must have been having a bad day as she barely acknowledged our presence: not so much as a smile of welcome. My partner had soup which he said was good, but his bacon sandwich arrived at the same time and was cold by the time he got round to eating it (our fault for not asking for it to be served after the soup). We love this little tea shop as they serve tea as it should be served in China tea cups and lovely China tea pots. The cakes and sandwiches are delicious and they also sell a variety of other treats including bespoke olive oils which are amazing. The staff are all very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. As for the other reviews regarding the toilet this is all due to one very disrespectful diner who left the facilities in such a disgusting mess that the owners had no choice but to close the toilet to the public and rightly so!! I can't praise this quaint tea room highly enough and we look forward to returning next year. Philip and Katie x

The food was fine and the place cute but all I think about was being asked how desperately I needed the toilet when I asked if I could go ! When I asked what customers do I was told by this rather unfriendly waitress that there was a toilet across the road. (there' a public convenience at the town hall). I went into TS with some friends. We had hoped to have tea/coffee, cakes to round off a Langholm event together. The staff were just so grumpy and unfriendly that it made it seem as if we were doing them the favour of our business. The atmosphere was awful in what, in the past, had been a happy, welcoming establishment. It may have been an off-day for the two ladies, but reading the other reviews it seems sadly not. It was my idea to go to TS that day. I was very embarrassed at having suggested a cuppa and a bite to eat there to my friends. I have reviewed this Restaurant as part of the Galloway Arms Hotel, so this will hopefully clarify the earlier reviews. We have been on a number of occasions since the last review and we have not been disappointed with the food at the Nine Mile Bar & Bistro within The Galloway Arms Hotel. On this visit we chose two times Two Course Specials priced at £14.50 each. The Starters were battered Chicken Goujons, which was quite a large portion and Tempura coated Prawns. Both dishes were very good and the Chicken alone would have been enough for my Wife as a main course. (Small Eater). My Wife had the Beef Stroganoff and I had the Salmon in Dill sauce for the main courses. Normally, we tend to have just the main courses and therefore we had to take home the chips, which were provided along with the Stroganoff half & half. A pint of Moretti is £3.50 and a large Chardonnay is £5.00 and the total bill without tip came to £37.50. The surroundings in the Hotel's main bar is simple, but cozy. A 10 minute drive from Dumfries gets you to this Hotel and I think that it is worth this very small effort.More
