I went there with a couple of friends after a theater show. It was late and we were hungry so we went to the first thing open near by. The food was alright but the staff very unfriendly. The waiter messed up with my order and when I let him know he seemed pissed. I did not intend to eat the first dish he brought by mistake but he came over to us saying I should eat while waiting for the dish I really ordered. Stupidly I thought he meant that he was 'offering' it (it was a small starter and I had ordered a main dish) as it was their mistake. But at the end they added it to the bill. I am very pissed and it was a very unpleasant end for our evening. The food was alright, not bad but far from good and it was clearly overpriced. We don't plan on ever going back!

So after a poor review at my last outing, I was passing the restaurant and saw the sign for Falafal Wrap. They have created a takeaway area at the front of the restaurant serving up Lamb, Chicken, Falafal and other wraps. Costing £4 I thought Id treat my vegan taste buds (Yes Ive turned vegan since my last review). All I can say freshly made falafel with all the trimming. Just finished and want another. The service was great too. Much better falafel than you get at Borough Market.

There are no shortage of eating options around London Bridge and Borough, but looking for a place on a walk in not too packed we picked this one. Look nothing special from the outside, rather red. Anyway we had a pretty pleasant dinner. My starter of chili paneer certainly had plenty of fresh hot green chilies in it, and was quite large for a starter portion. We both had dansaks, which were just the right hot and sour for us. Service a bit random, but friendly enough. Hit the spot for a whim and better than one or two Indian restaurants I've tried in the area.

There's very little to say about this place that's positive. Looks awful from the outside, not great on the inside. Terrible service. Even worse food. There was no hint of spices used or vegetables - my curries at home are an awful lot better than this, it tasted like it was from a jar (a cheap one at that). The poppadoms were soaked in oil and the chutneys tasteless and didn't taste fresh. Tiny portions, not cheap. Really bland. My friend ordered a vindaloo and it could have been a balti (albeit an awful one). Never again. Don't waste your money.

Last time I went to this place it was a nice curry place but since then they changed their menu and added a completely different type of food (Omelettes, Burgers, Hinglish Breakfast which is a very interesting formula).I decided to give it a go about a week ago, not many customers inside but I was feeling inspired by the curries I had previously.I had one of their Hinglish Breakfast to start with, I was expecting something quite casual and I was so beautifully surprised, it was actually one of the best Breakfast set I had in the same area, not too greasy, nicely cooked and generous portions (mushrooms, tomatoes, nicely buttered toasts, bacon, eggs and bake beans), with a white tea to go, it was just splendid! And for only a fiver, I felt blessed that day!I went there again a couple of days later for lunch this time and tried one of their burgers (if my memory serves, that would be one of the "classic burgers" with cheese on their menu.A little bit more people inside this time but the staff was quick and attentive (which is already a good point, especially when you don't have that much time for your lunch break), and I waited about 10-ish minutes for my fantastic burger to come. And there again, I have no complains to make, never seen so much meat in a burger, it was great! So I really recommend this place, either alone or with friends, they clearly improved the whole thing, even if you're not expecting a curry house to serve burgers and Hinglish Breakfast, it is definitely worth it!

Walking up Borough High Street, I passed Truly Indian on my way to sainsburys. I noticed that the chicken tikka wrap was back on their lunch time menu. It had not been advertised for while but historically I had at least one a week when there were last on the menu. They were amazing £5.95 for the wrap and a drink. So decided to have one again, this time its advertisd at £4.95 but no drink. Not to worry dont like fizzy drinks anyway. So at my desk and half way through it and although the sauce had changed and not as good as previous the main issue was the chicken. I decided to unwrap it and clearly the old chuncks of chicken tika have been replaced with finer cuts of chicken with no tikka. And I counted 4 very small slivers the size of a finger nail. This is just unbeleivable. I know produce and rents have gone up but a decent operator is not taking the mickey with this type of trick.Management please sort it out please, at £5 i can get a decent burger of the market or a mixed meat mezze at the establishment opposite you. Not happy. Clearly not, as I dont write reviews unless something is great or something is really bad.

Absolutely the worst food I have ever been served in any restaurant ever. How can you ruin poppadoms? They managed it. The lime pickle tasted like sewage. The Naans were stale. The chicken jalfreezi was basically onion and pepper in a cheap masala sauce with three scraps of reformed chicken in. Ditto the bindi bhaji, substituting the chicken for maybe one okra within the whole dish which was otherwise identical to the chicken jalfreezi. And my dining partner nearly choked on the lamb chops. I invited them to call the police when asked to pay the bill, having left 90% of everything. Instead, they called who I assume was the owner, who was quite charming, if in denial about what was on offer in his alleged "restaurant". You can get a sense of the place just by looking through the window. Don't make the mistake we made and take a chance on it......

Also some more interesting breads (chili naan, for example).Coming in at about GBP 150 for nine of us with a mix of starters, breads, rice as well as mains and drinks, it's certainly somewhere I would recommend.

We took a bit if a gamble trying this Indian as none if the group had been there before. Unfortunately this gamble didn't pay off!!The decor is rather plain and when we arrived (around 7:00) the restaurant was almost empty, it had filled up by the time we left. The first thing you notice is the menu is rather limited and quite expensive. The Drinks are very expensive with a SMALL glass of diet coke costing £2.20 and a bottle of Magners cider costing £4.85. The popadoms came with a selection of pickles, including what was best described and tomato ketchup with chillies. The group ordered, amongst other dishes, chicken dansak (no lentils), Bombay potatoes (boiled potatoes in curry sauce) and a lamb biryani (only 4 pieces of lamb). Whilst the quantity of lamb was sadly lacking the quality was good (soft and tasty) The plain naan we ordered was thin and crispy. The other dishes we ordered were in the main ok. Overall I would describe the quality of the food as ok but at this price point I would expect much better. I've eaten Indian food all my life and have had the pleasure of eating in some fantastic Indian restaurants sadly this isn't one if them. I won't be going back.

A friend and I went here the first week I was in London. It was my first restaurant experience, and I was glad we chose Indian - I have heard all the rumors about London food, including that Indian food is supposed one of the best cuisines offered. Since I love Indian food, I was excited to try it.We arrived before the dinner rush and were the only two people in the restaurant. We had chosen what we wanted after only a few moments, so we shut our menus and waited. And waited. We ceased talking as we waited. We were sitting by the windows and the waitress was on the other side of the restaurant at the bar, texting, not paying attention to see if we were ready. It was quite frustrating to be the only people in a restaurant and still take more than ten minutes to place our order. She finally realized we were ready and after this blip the dining experience became much more enjoyable. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala - rice and naan do not come with the mains, and each cost more than two pounds which makes the meal kind of expensive, but it was really amazing. Some of the best Indian food I've had in a while. The decor of the restaurant was nothing special and if you didn't already know it was Indian cuisine you wouldn't be able to tell. The food was great, which is the most important part, but if I wanted to come here again I would probably order it to-go.

There were massive delays at London Bridge, so rather than wait two hours to get home, we wandered out of the station and walked down Borough High Street. We were initially hesitant about trying this place, as it was practically empty - one person inside, and this was at around half-six in the evening. As we were on the lookout for somewhere quiet, however, we decided to chance it. No regrets! I had chilli mushroom, extra spicy to start, and my partner had cottage cheese squares in a light sauce. Main course was chick peas for her, and I had the 'okra', tomatoes and coriander in a spicy sauce. The whole washed down with a couple of beers, and with rice and naan bread on the side. The bill came to a few pennies short of fifty quid, but we did not hesitate to leave a tip. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was quite simply divine. If you're in the area, and you fancy something different from the pub chains dotted around this part of London south of the Thames, we can most definitely recommend this place.

We then ordered some and were told that as kitchen was closing soon that we could not have any. asked for a bottle of wine and water. The wine came and then had to ask for water several times. Then nans turned up on their own and food about 10 mins after. I had a chicken madras that had sauce that was not madras as not a hint of tomato in it and it was so bland and the wrong colour for madras. My friend had a jalfreizi and that also was nothing like any jalfreizi ever experienced. Sauce on both dishes looked like it had come out of a jar. Finally, we were ushered out as soon as we had finished our mains because it was the waitress's birthday. We were Not offered anything else and just given the bill. We were very polite and caused no trouble at all and were asked if everything was ok by the very personable manager to which i said no, not really.I have to say that this is the worst indian meal that I have ever had in almost 40 years. This is not an accolade to be proud of.

Well for all the Indian food lovers, this is the place in London if you are looking for a real good Indian style desi food! BUT, be aware that the service time is too long and you may be served your main dish before the starters, which happened with us twice in this restaurant visit!! The manager over there is quite helpful in suggesting the orders, but was rude when he asked us to finish the lunch a little quickly, since the restaurant was nearing the closure time!! If that was the case, he should have had put a closed sign board outside his restaurant, which he didn't since he saw "10 people = good sales" equation somewhere in his thoughts!!So before going to this restaurant, as a pre go activity, assess the winner of ""your Taste Buds Vs Mindset Sensitivity level"", and that would help you to expedite your visit to this Truly Indian (Food but not the Service) experience.

The first impression is that there is no first impression. The restaurant is devoid of any real atmosphere - there's not welcome, no music, no interesting lighting - no ambience to speak of.That sums up the whole experience. The service isn't bad, the food isn't actually really bad either - its just, well, uninspiring. The prawn karai I ordered was quite similar to a curry I could have cooked at home, quite edible light years from being exceptional. Plenty of very large king prawns but an underprepared sauce with a rather odd texture. I come from Yorkshire and am used to some authentic pakistani and regional indian curries - sadly the 'Truly' wasn't a patch on these. The beer (and the food to an extent) was somewhat overpriced too. The place was (unsurprisingly) quite empty - I'm amazed they can make a profit on Borough High Street with this quality of food.Rather oddly, the restaurant tried to make up for the lack of culinary interest or ambience by serving the food and drink in rather odd modern-shaped recepticles - interesting shaped glasses and bowls - which were all the more strange because the restaurant was so uninspiring. You can do better - much better.

Poor selection of poppadom dips5. Ordered a chicken vindaloo and received a chicken madras - when we questioned the order - the waiter insisted it was a vindaloo and ignored our protestations6. Rice was lukewarm7. Took an absolute AGE after the plates were cleared away to be given the bill, despite two staff standing behind the bar twiddling their thumbs.8. Were not offered dessert or coffee or any post meal refreshments like a handwipe9. After being given the bill, took a good 7-8 minutes for the waitress to bring over the card machine10. Service charge was automatically included - when we questioned this insisting we didn't want to pay it and didn't have to - the waitress called over her boss and essentially stropped in front of us until we paid the full amount11. Not as cheap as everybody makes out either.Avoid this restaurant like the plague. The food itself wasn't dreadful but basic customer service was totally ignored.TRULY INDIAN?! TRULY ABYSMAL!

Some dishes were fine but mostly the food was disappointing: garlic chicken was nicely spiced but overcome by tomato paste; salmon tikka was very dry; lamb chops tasted of grease - probably left in cooling fat; saag gosht was a bowl of sloppy spinach hiding 4 pieces of lamb. A request for saag chicken received the reply that this was not the chef's style and he wouldn't do requests. No vegetable side dishes.Although it was approaching closing time we had sufficient time for a final drink but were told that they had run out of not only the red wine we were drinking but all red wine. So we kept it and paid for it. The food was ok, particularly spicy! Everyone's meals were the same, hotter than usual. It was £1 per poppadom and extra for the chutneys, more than all of our locals! Biriyani was very dry and did not come with vegetable curry as usually does to make it more of a meal! The spinach was disgusting and looked and tasted like mush! Was blitzed to within an inch of its life and not edible and £6.50 too so a rip off! It worked out very expensive and not really worth the money. Wished that we had got the tube to brick lane where you can get a great curry! Then there was the most random cd playing hip hop, rnb and pop! Would not recommend! We went to this restaurant for lunch on 1 Aug. It has nice ambience. The food was good. We ordered paneer tikka and eggplant dish. Both were nice and value for money. Staff was courteous Would like
