Tru Restaurant & Bar in City of London, Westminster

Lovely atmosphere and very friendly service. We asked for recommendations and had the beef stew and lemongrass chicken. Both were lovely, with great punchy but well balanced flavours. We also had cocktails which were well made and tasty. Recommended.

Tru is an attractive space with attentive service but overall a very average dining experience. A couple of items on the menu were tasty and good value e.g. the spring rolls and satay sauce. However, the rest of the dishes we chose were lacking in taste, spice and authenticity . They didn't appear to be premium ingredients considering the pricing. Several main dishes came served on a bed of salad leaves but there were no green vegetables on the menu as a side. It is a shame that this isn't better as it would be nice to have a good local Vietnamese.

I came at the beginning of February with a friend to sample the menu and since been back twice. The food is amazingly tasty, freshly prepared, good portion size. Would recommend the Summer Rolls, Grilled Pork Belly, Grilled Seabass with Mango salad.

The cuisine is superb, the staff is friendly, and the prices are fair. My friends and I enjoyed the Vietnamese spring rolls, which was outstanding. I also had the beef pho and found it fantastic. We ordered deep fried ice cream as dessert, which was shared and proved to be a delightful taste sensation. Remember to arrive before 6pm to take advantage of their Happy Hour Cocktail offer.

Absolutely lovely food, ambience and staff. There were 8 of us and yet we each felt we were given a personal service. I highly recommend Tru restaurant.

Went to try this new restaurant in Forest Hill as we are local to it. The place is nicely decorated and the staff were lovely. Unfortunately the food just wasn’t up to scratch and was really lacking in flavour, other than the spring rolls which were tasty. I ordered the fried tofu and it didn’t seem to be seasoned at all and I was so disappointed. Definitely wasn’t worth £10 and lacked authentic flavours. The pho chay was also quite plain. My boyfriend had the braised pork belly which he gave 5.5/10. Okay experience overall but unfortunately won’t be back unless the food is improved which is a real shame as we had high expectations.

The food is excellent, the staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable. My wife and I had salt and pepper tofu which was again excellent. Our relation from Oop North had the beef pho dish, which he stated was fantastic. Our relation, who has hollow legs, ordered the deep fried ice cream. Our relation shared the dessert with my wife and I. Wow, what a taste sensation. This is an excellent restaurant and the hard working staff/owners deserve to succeed. Please use this restaurant you'll be treating yourself

Beautiful inside decor. The outside part could be nicer. Friendly staff and great customer service. Food little bit to simple for the prices they charge. Papaya salad was mainly carrots and very little papaya. Food tasty but lacking in Asian flavours. I think menu and food need to improve a lot for it to survive. It's really pretty and it would do great if food was more authentic.

We are local and popped down the road tonight to try Tru - it did not disappoint. Friendly service and delicious food - we had the summer rolls, prawn crackers, calamari, chicken pho and sea bass and it was all great - fresh, filling and full of flavours. With a drink each it came to £40 each which is not bad at all - especially for the quality. Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back. x

Drinks and food was amazing. We went when Hoppy Hour was still on and the drinks did not disappoint. The food and service was superb. It was our first time at a Vietnamese restaurant and we will be going back. I would highly recommend!
