What a fabulous restaurant. From the minute I contacted them about accommodating our large group they were amazing, despite the number of guests constantly increasing. We had a lovely private area at the back of the restaurant seating 14. We pre-ordered and the food choices were extensive - appealing to everyone in our group from age 11 to 83! But most importantly the food was absolutely delicious. Lots of tempting sounding dishes on the menu all of which lived up to expectations. I had the fish & fizz Friday special which was sea bass, prawns and scallops in a delicious sauce with cauliflower puree and crispy potatoes - heavenly! Came with a glass of fizz too. Everyone loved their food. Desserts and starters were also very high quality and beautifully presented. A miscommunication about my (fussy!) daughter's pudding was dealt with quickly and without fuss. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. A big thank you to Jacqui and her incredible team, especially the very talented chef. Now I just need an excuse to go back to Tetbury to re-visit!

This is a regular stop for myself for my two dogs, but usually it’s just for coffee and some of the delicious cake. However on this occasion after an initial coffee I decided to stay on and have lunch. What can I say – absolutely delicious and such a good interesting choice on the menu. The welcome I receive is always so warm and friendly, and being by myself usually it’s particularly welcome. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them and they go that extra mile to make their customers , both human and canine) feel really at home.

Beautiful location on arrival and an array of different options to eat/ drink at. Plenty of parking, really useful. We ordered and my wife (who is due next week) wasn't sure about her order and made the team aware and they responded with understanding and such care. This is on our doorstep and we like walking there from Tetbury. Since the new owners took it over it has been consistently good. Friendly service and an interesting and changing menu. Good to see so many specials. We took two friends and everyone’s food was good except mine. I had the chicken satay skewers. My chicken was tough and didn’t taste much of satay. I didn’t say anything as we were treating our friends. £160 for 4 lunches (3 starters and 3 mains), is toppy for lunch but we will be back. I’ll just choose more carefully next time as the is a lot on offer.

Trouble House has become the "home of Sunday lunch" in the Cotswolds. From the initial warm welcome from Jacqui's team Great we knew we were in for a treat. The smell of meats roasting got our taste buds going too. I chose the roast chicken breast while my wife chose the Chicken and Ham pie, It was a proper pie too with pastry all round not just a topping. Roasted veg and delicious gravy topped them both. If being on a budget has made you eat out a bit less then make a Sunday Lunch at Trouble House a definate booking.

My dad was taking a spitfire flight nearby so we booked lunch for 9 of us to have together after the flight for a very special day out. I had been liaising with Jacqui beforehand and she was really helpful! My family were travelling from London and South Wales. Unfortunately due to the weather, my dad's flight was running late by 3 hours! We thought it was going to be a disaster for my 95 year old dad but I rang Jacqui much earlier and she said to come straight away so we did and the food came quickly, it was very good and dad had the best early Father's Day! Thanks Trouble House for being so accommodating and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble!

What better way to be introduced to UK hospitality. Trouble House was brilliant. Jackie, our host went out of her way to ensure our stay was perfect. It is a fabulous place to explore the beauty of the Cotswolds as well as experience some of the incredible history of the area. Regrettably, I was not feeling 100% so did not have an opportunity to experience the breakfast and dining options. My son however was certainly in the mood to appreciate the menu options that were available and could not fault the hospitality provided. Thank you so much Jackie for your outstanding consideration while I was not feeling 100%. The breakfasts were out of this world as was dinner (according to my son who was travelling with me). Cannot recommend Trouble House more highly and would without question return. Thanks again Jackie.

We had the most amazing stay here… from the minute we arrived until we left, the staff were so friendly and welcoming and catered to our every need. We stayed for just one night in the adjoining guest house, and I only wish I could’ve stayed longer as the bed was so comfortable!! The food was outstanding, I had the beef Bourginon for dinner that evening which was so tasty…and the next day we had an amazing cooked breakfast. 6 of us visited the Trouble House on Easter Sunday to meet up from different directions. Plenty of parking and easy booking process for a table of 6. We all had the roast dinners - chicken, pork, beef and a nut roast. All were delicious and really good portions - the meats were really tasty and the vegetables were great. But the Yorkshire puds were exceptional. Having driven by recently and noticed how busy it was I decided to take my Dad and husband here and what a great decision it was. My Dad is normally a steak man but I asked him to try something new and ordered him the beef bourguignon which he said was outstanding. My decision to go with salmon was a great call….absolutely stunning and my husband said his burger was one of the best he’s ever had. As a treat we had puddings and they didn’t disappoint either, sticky toffee pudding and lemon posset’s were devoured with smiles all round. Being diners, who like visiting Michelin restaurants, my husband and I can say this is the closest a pub has ever got to the flavours without the hefty price tag. Jacqui and team….see you soon 🫶🏼

Great Saturday Lunch. Lucky to walk in and manage to get a table for two in the busy family and dog friendly pub/restaurant . Fabulous Faggots lunch. Faggots crowned with crispy onions, sitting on a bed of heart cabbage, on top of beautiful buttery mashed potato, surrounded by a sea of gorgeous red wine gravy. Accompanied by wonderful Uley bitter. Too full to try the treacle tart, which I am sure would have been wonderful! Lots of car parking at the back behind what can be seen from the Tetbury Road. After dropping Littlest Foodie off at college in Bristol for the Friday afternoon session we had to collect something from Tetbury. Hubby came across The Trouble House (great name btw! and history) last night and booked us a table for 2pm. Jacqui made us feel immediately welcome and looked after us. She didn't even mind me singing when I spontaneously sang along to the chorus of Dancing with a stranger by Sam Smith (Look what you made me do......) as I put my spoon into the Chocolate Fondant that we ordered to share for dessert. Hubby ordered the whole oven baked seabass served with borlotti bean, chickpea and nduja sausage cassoulet, spinach, herb oil dressing, however a fillet arrived. That didn't matter, it was beautifully cooked with a golden crispy skin.I ordered the double baked cheese souffle with chives, parmesan and truffle cream with a side of skinny fries with truffle oil and grated parmesan. This took cheesy chips to a whole new level I can tell you. The House White, Trouble House Viognier was a clean, crisp wine, perfect for lunch.Dessert, as mentioned above, we shared the dark chocolate fondant with chantilly cream and a raspberry compote. Not only was it divine (Greg Wallace eat your heart out), it is gluten free also, for those of you who can't eat gluten. At the end of our meal time was getting on a bit and we were the 'last lunchers' so had a little time to chat with Jacqui, when we learnt that her and her Hubby Alyn only bought The Trouble House in July 2020. You can tell they have put a lot of hard work, time and effort in to making it a wonderful place to relax and eat great food. Not only that, they currently have one room available so we booked a night near Hubbies birthday at the end of November.Looking forward to seeing you again x

For the best part of the last year I have compared all burgers I have eaten, with those that I ate here in September 2020 and again in May this year. These Trouble House burgers helped give us hope for the future during the COVID restrictions in the last 16 dark months. Further I have listened to my Son telling me about the ‘wonderful’ burgers he has enjoyed, and I have dismissed them all, saying that they can’t possibly beat the ones I have had here.Eventually I had to put my money where my mouth was, and take my Son here, to show him why the Trouble House burger was the best. So, when I booked my table here last week I stressed that I was coming here for their burger and bringing my Son to taste the best.On arrival here the owner recalled my telephone conversation and ordered the burgers for us without coming to the table to actually take our order, that was good enough for me. A wait of about 25 minutes was expected, but what was not expected was the burgers that arrived.Let me step back and refer you to my picture taken on 26Sep20 showing a juicy medium to rare burger with the perfect texture and taste for me, i.e. what I wanted, what I talked about to my Son, and what I said I was bringing my Son to experience. Then look at the second picture taken on the 20Jul21 showing the somewhat dry, overcooked and (in comparison) dull-tasting offering served to my Son and myself on this latest visit. When I challenged the owner about this I was told that the replacement chef on duty cooks his burgers for longer in response to complaints from some customers that their burgers were served undercooked.I do understand that some diners may want their burger without pink meat, but these burgers are not just beef in a beef burger, these are actually steak in a steak burger. The soft texture was totally destroyed, and the steak taste was ruined by the extended cooking. A question: would you cook a piece of prime steak this way? Answer: no, not unless you checked with the customer first! So, my complaint is: Given that the burgers can be cooked in several different ways and, as a result, change the texture and taste, would it not be helpful to reflect this in the menu description? This would allow customers to make an informed decision on how their burgers should be cooked. I was only advised about the changes to the ordering options after my burger was served to me. I agree that the owner was unaware of how I like my burgers, and the owner would also have been unaware of how previous burgers I have eaten here had been cooked for me. Surely if something changes, should I not be provided with enough information to allow me to have the burger I wanted? My Son enjoyed his burger, I certainly did not. I ate mine because I was hungry, but I was so thoroughly disappointed, it was no better than a burger I could have had in local establishments for considerably less than £15 each, and without the 90 minute, 45 mile round trip to Tetbury and back. To say I’m upset is an understatement.I am sad to say that this was a very average burger when compared to previously enjoyed burgers, the service was average (not for any other reason that the lack of communication), and the value was average because of what I have had at this restaurant on previous occasions, for a similar outlay.

They were about to close. The delightful owner said she could bring Tea and scones out into the garden. Just wonderful. We did not expect such a warm welcome and bad resigned ourselves to walking back to Tetbury without Tea etc! The garden is v pretty and the Tea and scones and jam were all served with a smile by the owner. We saw the evening menu on the blackboard: We will definitely be back, hopefully soon. So refreshing to be met with warmth rather than ‘sorry we are closing’This is definitely a place to come to and enjoy.

The beef was like cutting into butter and it was all cooked to perfection and always a bonus to get a decent size cauliflower cheese. Beautiful glass of house red. All in all it was such a lovely couple of hours and we WILL be going back 10 out of 10 Jackie and team.

We went for dinner last Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Friendly service and nice atmosphere in a lovely Cotswold countryside building. For the food, starters were well presented, well flavoured and very tasty. Both of us had Burgers as a main course which was one of the best we've ever had seriously! And the Chips came with it had delicious truffle flavour which were so moreish. Staff were attentive and friendly in a way that made us feel very comfortable. This was our first time, but definitely won't be the last!

You may read plenty of reviews regarding the food however l didn’t have a meal. I had a pot of tea tea and a brownie. However, I was shocked at the price of a pot of tea .... which was just a teabag .... £2.95! This is far too expensive for a simple tea. The small brownie was average quality and should have been priced accordingly

The last time we visited this café bar was in late September last year, and it was really good. Last time we visited we had come out of lockdown, then within a month of our visit we were back in lockdown, and denied the opportunity to revisit as we had wanted to. Last time my partner had the fish and chips, and I had the burger, both meals had been really good. Last time we hadn’t booked, we had table inside and I had wine. Last time it was a really pleasant experience for us both. This time was different apart from a couple things. This time we managed to book (albeit about 2 hours before arrival), and it was the last table available that was under-cover, but outside of course. This time we had (just about) come out of lockdown. This time the food was equally as good as last time. This time my partner ordered the burger (instead of fish and chips) and (like last time) I ordered the burger. So nothing new then? Well yes there was: outside seating in unseasonably cool weather is always a challenge, but that’s hardly the fault of our hosts. What was under our hosts’ control was the food, drink and service. We started with a warming Americano coffee (cheap at £2.95) each: excellent, not harsh but smooth, rich and hot! Then the burgers: juicy, perfectly cooked (just slightly pink) with plenty of soft savoury flavoured onions. The Parmesan chips: crispy outers and soft fluffy inners were fab, and a nice bun too. The service was helpful, pleasant, smiley, professional and prompt. Some may baulk at £15.50 for a burger, but this is not a minced-beef burger, this is an 8oz burger produced from quality steak; and therefore the same price as you would expect to pay for an 8oz quality steak. No miserable over-salted skinny chips either, these were chunky and hot, and flavoured with (not smothered in) Parmesan. We are both so pleased that this business has survived, and is still producing a really good eating experience. As long as this is maintained we will continue to reward them, and ourselves, with our patronage.

Had tried this local restaurant during last lock down so the first chance to use again when they restarted takeaways was taken today. Jacquie very helpful as my wife eats mainly fish. The food today was superb both in quality and quantity. Excellent Beef. Well served with all sauces, napkins etc. Well worth supporting during these lockdown times. Will visit to eat in when things open again. Booked for next week even before eating the food.

Met up with friends for an evening meal. We've been to the Trouble House a few times over the years but this was the first time since Jacqui and Alyn took over and it is by far the best it's ever been. Warm and friendly from the moment you walk in, we were shown to our table and made to feel at home. The food was truly excellent. I had mussels with a Thai broth, followed by the burger. I am drooling as I write this remembering how good they were. Everyone else was similarly enamoured with their choices. Lovely Uley on draught too. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for and I didn't begrudge a penny of it. If anyone can get through these terrible times and keep a pub restaurant going then surely Jacqui and Alyn deserve to. They've done a fantastic job with the Trouble House and I'm sure we'll be going back many times ...

Staying near Tetbury for a few nights and looking for a decent country pub for a family dinner. The Trouble House was the perfect venue. Food excellent - non pretentious menu with classics well delivered. Puddings too - the sticky toffee pudding with a twist of lemon curd is amazing. Welcoming land lady and friendly staff. Warm and clean interior. Heartily recommend a visit.

On a very wet Wednesday in October we booked for lunch, which was so good we returned for afternoon tea the same day.Their very warm welcome set the tone for what turned out to be one of the best meals we have enjoyed in the past year. The choice of food available surprised us bearing in mind all the problems restaurants are facing during the pandemic. Nibbling on their homemade bread, with butter and dipping oil we waited for our mains with a sense of anticipation. My choice of fish and chips with all the extras was excellent. Flaky fresh fish with a light batter was twinned with some of the best ever chips. My wife had the slow cooked Pork Belly served on bubble & squeak which was an equal triumph. We had timed tickets for Westonbirt so had to leave around 2.00pm but after just a few hours of fresh air and exercise we returned for coffee and cake. Again excellent. For anyone who last visited Trouble House in 2017-2018 it has changed hands, but they are very safe hands indeed.

Excellent restaurant in a very beautiful hotel where I celebrated my birthday with a a small group of friends. Last year I also enjoyed an evening meal here with my partner. Ambience, service and food were perfect. Apéritifs in the lounge, well-spaced tables in the restaurant, excellent, polite and friendly staff, delicious food and lovely surroundings. By far the best restaurant I have been to in years.

What a find, a very quintessential English country pub serving local beers as well as a very stocked back shelf and wine cellar. The welcome is warm and very friendly from the staff and locals alike. Not once did we finish our meals and head home, as we started conversations with the locals and fellow guests, that meant for a very social atmosphere. There is a good lunch menu and a very comprehensive evening menu. I promise you will want to come back to try "something else" off the menu, I know we did and we soon realised that we had to pick either starters & main or main & desert due to the larger portions you receive.

We attended a Wedding at Fosse Manor (in their Hyde Barn). The wedding catering was excellent. It is confusing to read the other reviews here as there was no actual restaurant on site that we could see - just the wedding banquet room and adjoining bar. Breakfast however was not good. Pre-cooked under 3 heat lamps and self-service. The tea was very weak even after adding more tea-bags! The breakfast room was styled like a hostel with long trestle tables for lots of guests to sit together, and was extremely noisy. After a night spent in the terrible accommodation here (for which we have written a separate review) we did not enjoy this experience at all. A shame, as the Wedding catering itself was very well done and managed.

A very old fashioned type of tea room. You think you're going into a book shop at first, then go into the main tea room. It all exudes history and quality. Very nice for afternoon tea, the cakes are wonderful and all made on the premises, the brunch was great too. Can't really fault it. Service was quick despite it being very busy. Highly recommended, well worth a visit
