I came here as part of a bus tour stop, but didn't have the best experience at this place. The folks running the breakfast cafe were constantly snippy with each other and with customers, it was unpleasant. Everything was also sold out by like 9:30 am which was disappointing. Don't bother eating here, just spend your time enjoying the adorable cows <3.

Disgusted. WONT BE BACK!. FRIDAY 9TH DECEMBER, MID DAY. A coach load of us called for a visit and refreshments. The Scottish gentleman, (YEAH RIGHT) was very rude to atleast one of the members, directly to the old ladies face... HE'LL KNOW WHO I'M TALKING ABOUT! SHAME ON YOU! If you hate us English visitors so much!!! Don't worry!.. This one will not be coming back! Hoping he gets his wish of the English needing a passport if the Scottish get their own way... A great opportunity to see and feed a highland cow in Scotland. We very much enjoyed seeing Honey and Hamish, they were definitely enjoying the fame, as every-time we drove past there were floods of people visiting them. The gift shop is full of gifts and clothes and there is a cafe at the other end. Best avoid the morning though as the car park is full of coaches at this time. A must if you are staying local to the area!

If not in the mood for such finery, they offer every imaginable Highland cow souvenirs. The facilities in an adjacent building were welcome to us road weary travelers. But never did I expect to see these two, giant docile creatures, Honey and hamish Dubh…like a cross between wooly mammoths and Texas Long Horn steers who have a huge appetite for the eggplant-like treats that are available in the store. Honey and Dubh are Highland cattle, a Scottish cattle breed. Most notable are their long horns and long wavy coats. They are raised primarily for the meat (and ability to draw in curious travelers.)

I popped in here in October for a snack lunch. At first I was impressed by the gift shop which looks bright and well stocked, but was less impressed by the adjoining tearoom where I had to wait for several minutes before someone appeared to serve me. I asked for soup and a filled roll and sat at one of the smaller empty tables. There were two other occupied tables at the time, but three of the remaining empty ones had used dishes on them, including mine. A woman appeared and ambled around, carefully ignoring me and took some dishes from one of the other tables, then started having a lengthy shouted conversation with a couple of the other visitors (presumably locals) from across the room. I was still ignored, but she then managed to remove the dishes from the second table, but didn't bother to clear up the crumbs and spilled drinks from the table surface. My table was only cleared of dishes when the soup and roll arrived, but the dirty table was never attended to the whole time I was there. The soup was OK, the roll less so, but if they can't be bothered to clean the tables it makes me wonder what the kitchen must look like. The whole place had a cheap and amateurish approach, and I won't be back. I expect as others have said they cater for the coach tours in summer, however if you go to the bother of building a tourist facility why not make it a decent one? It's not rocket science.

Ok, full disclosure... I've never had a meal here (in fact, I didn't even know they served food until I read some of the other reviews...) and only bought one scarf, which I lost within the week. But I'm ever the sucker for fluffy animals and when I found out you could buy bags of veggies to feed to the shaggy coos, I was sold. Yes, it's touristy. Yes, you're bascially paying them to feed their animals. Yes, you have to fight for room with the hordes of coach tourists who've seemingly made this place one of their must-see stops. But when you're stuffing carrots into the face of a young shaggy coo and inadvertently get your hand licked, it's worth it. Ah lubs these animals.

Just another tacky touristy ' woolen mill ' type shop. The cafe is even worse. My ice cream had been melted and refrozen, a health hazzard in my opinion. This is just a stop off point for coaches full of gullible members of the tea and a pee brigade.

We called in this morning, theoretically for coffee on our journey North, but all the various tour companies seem to make for this cafe as an initial stop, and in the busy summer season, and additionally with Edinburgh full of Festival visitors, there appeared to be no plan or increased staff numbers to cope with the influx. The net result was an impossibly long queue and disappointment. Surely there is a case here for added staff, or alternatively for the tour companies to stagger their visiting times or spread themselves between more cafes.

Thought this place was pretty grotty and in need of refurbishment. If it wasn't for the Highland Cows I'm afraid we wouldn't of bothered stopping!

Dropped in on a drive around the area found that both the shop and restaurant are good value for the money.Quick lunch, freshly made sandwiches and soup after spending too long browsing and buying in the shop.Highland cattle are friendly and photogenic, it is a pity that they are now so far behind safety barriers.

Ok so this is a major tourist trap....but they do have a good variety of woollen products (decent quality) and a few highland cows. They sell feed in the store that you can buy for them.

Always make a point of stopping here in this lovely part of the country. During a recent holiday here made several purchases including some jewellery. Unfortunately I lost a stone from one of the bracelets and they very kindly replaced it and returned the damaged bracelet which I thought was very considerate, so just in case I should be unfortunate enough to lose another stone I have a spare bracelet enabling me to replace any further loss. So, a big thank you.

We didn't go to the restaurant, we'd just gone to see the cows. It was nice to see Hamish Dhub and Honey close up. We remember original Hamish before he died in 2014, such a lovely gentle soul You can feed the cows but it has to be with food bought from the shop. Gift shop is large and sells lots of clothing and the usual Scottish gifts. Staff very friendly. No charge for the car park or toilets.

Called in here as part of a coach trip on the return leg. Pleasant coffee etc etc but really fairly standard for a 30 minute stop. Some horny cows behind provided some amusement. The adjacent shop must be something of a tourist trap: someone came out with a tartan horn hat - each to their own of course....
