My wife and I went here when we were staying in London for the night. The ambience is lovely, the service is excellent and the food was superb. We tried the 5 course tasting menu. This was £100 per person and every course was great. The tandoori lamb chop I think was probably the best. Would definitely recommend this place and we will try one of the sister restaurants.

Very average cafe style outside decor style, untypical of the ‘regency stone’ london buildings we are all very used to. Small and cosy interior, which is quite a muted decor that is forgotten by the average man. Interior lights and fittings also lost to the eye. Having tasted Indian food across the world- we ordered the tasting menu (early evening). The chaat vegetarian dish was palatable - but nothing different nor surprising. Rather flat and nothing ‘inventive’. Perhaps evoking a gastronomy element here would take this dish to the next level- with animation and smokiness to add depth to the dish. Also wrapping this up in filo pastry would bring extra texture. The main course was not spicy enough, we had to send it back to the kitchens, despite notifying them of our palate beforehand. The worst thing is that the chef actually disagreed with our view on the food…remarks you would not even want to hear… Dessert was a kulfi - with edible flowers on top. As an amateur cook, I could prepare a kulfi in moulds and put two sliced apples casually posed by the side of the dish. Indian noodles with crumbs, green apple sauce, some red textured bits on the plate only add confusion in a dish that lacks cohesion and clarity. Chef really needs to rethink the whole menu- to create balance across the dishes, yet oozing flavour. Currently there is a fair line up but not enough done to make memorable. Small variyari (seed dessert cleanser) to finish. Food is not green park level in like with other Michelin star restaurants, but a cafe esq Indian experience that, unfortunately, fails to deliver. I will not be returning but continuing my journey of discovering the very best Indian restaurants the world has to offer…

From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a friendly smile from all the staff. We were seated and offered the cocktail menu, closely followed by the head waiter going through the food menu options with us. We chose one of the tasting menus. There were a few real surprises. Who knew that partridge would take spices so well. The venison, lamb and lobster were all a delight. My big surprise was the spinach and sweet corn, which both my wife and I enjoyed. I've never had spinach taste like that before. We shared the two deserts, one an apple kulfi and other was the "perfect combination of chocolate, ginger, pistachios and jackfruit ice cream." More than just a chocolate cake. On leaving, my wife forgot to take her hat. I contacted the restaurant and with no fuss, they had already posted it to our home in Sweden. We appreciated this greatly and look forward to returning to Trishna's.

Bland food that is very overpriced. We went for a birthday and both left confused as to how Trishna has a michellin star. We've had many indian meals in London and Trishna was the worst. Wouldn't return even on a free work lunch.

We had such a wonderful experience, we came here twice on our vacation! Both the service and the food is outstanding, and really stand out in a city which is known for having the “best Indian food”, Trishna goes a step above the rest. When compared to other Michelin star restaurants in the area, the kind and welcoming service definitely is super appreciated. I would recommend this place for vegetarians and meat eaters alike, as it is super flavorful and of the highest quality.

One of the best tasting menus I’ve had in London, with complex and interesting dishes throughout. The Venison and Scallop courses in particular were delicious, and whilst I didn’t order it, the wine pairing looked considered and worth it. With many seafood dishes, it provided a taste of Indian food that isn’t as common. Portions were generous, and I (and other tables I could overhear) were not left hungry by the end as some tasting menus can leave you. Would very happily return, no weak points throughout my visit.

One of my favorite Indian restaurants in London. Very classic. Their sister Gymkhana is more famous, but Trishna was first and still part of the successful group. Every time we’ve gone, we always forget to book a reservation then we’ve magically snagged the last table at Trishna and the service is always wonderful. I give the food a 4.5, but the good tables, warm staff and experience are great. I do wish they occasionally changed the menu a bit more and I don’t love the chicken dishes, but really enjoy all the appetizers, biryani and vegetables. Only took one photo this time, but my old review has several more.

Booked an early slot just for myself as I was desperate for some spice and this place did not disappoint! From the cocktail as I arrived through the poppadoms, starters (I had the prawns and the soft shell crab) to the lamb (I'd given up taking photos at this point). All delicious. Service was very attentive. Bustling place full of vibrancy and a passion for hospitality.

A lovely neighbourhood feeling restaurant, with a Michelin Star! Beautiful food, good but not amazing service and a very sedate and cosy atmosphere, perhaps not for a laughter and chatter filled dinner as the restaurant is as I say, quite sedate. I returned after a long time after a hiatus of many years, following two disastrous visits some time ago, but I believe in second chances and I was right to, the food is sublime, wine offering strong and service somewhat improved

Visited yesterday for lunch.Nice casual ambiance to the restaurant but smartly dressed staff. We had the summer set menu which was excellent value at £55 per person. It is nice to have a set lunch menu with a good range of choices,so many nowadays give a very limited choice of cheap to buy items. Not this restaurant, everything was high quality, beautifully presented and served by charming, knowledgeable staff. The wine list was varied and not too expensive, although you could easily spend a lot. It was a real pleasure to eat at Trisha,an experience we will repeat very soon

The food was great; no complaints there. My issue was that my partner and I did not take our time, order any extra courses outside of the drinks or tasting menu, or do anything particularly slowly; however after finishing the mains we were told that they needed the table back in twenty minutes. In the end, everything worked out fine, but once that has been said it runs the mood, and we were probably rushing a bit more than we otherwise would have. This left a sour taste, particularly when we had not taken our time. I heard the maitre d' say he had only been told we were having three courses (rather than the full menu), in which case if true then that's their staff who have messed up by not taking the full order. Also, the staff were quick enough to shoot over and top up water needlessly throughout the meal, but on reflection there were a few times when they could have been more on-it with taking orders and plate removals. So, if you want a special occasion then I can't recommend Trishna based on my experience.

One of the best meals in London thus far, easily deserving of their Michelin star rating. This is an elegant and polished restaurant that achieves excellence without an ounce of pretension (unlike Veeraswamy). Service is exemplary and so is the coastal Indian cuisine. The tandoori lamb chops and the lamb masala were the best lamb dishes I've ever had, hands down. The side dishes such as the palak paneer and beetroot poriyal were good but not great; just missing a touch of salt and perhaps a bit more seasoning. The coconut naan was heavenly, an inventive twist. If we lived here, this would be a venue to which we would return often. Sep 1, 2014

We had a wonderful lunch at Trishna yesterday. We were four; they gave us a lovely seat by the open bifold doors on a hot Sunday, the best of both worlds, shaded but in touch with outside. The food was so varied and delicious, the service was really friendly and thoughtful. We were never rushed and were there for 2.5 hours. The only tricky thing was trying to get someone's attention to pay! The food is reasonably priced for the quantity you have, the drinks are pricey though, a non alcoholic drink is £8-£12, cocktails £18 +

The food was great too. Tried the Kerala summer menu and it was great - loved the Nandu Varuval and the Porotta & Beef. I did think that some dishes could taste more authentic and would have been nice to have the Kerala rice instead of the Basmati since it was regional special. That being said, the prawn and tomato chutney that was served with the papadoms deserves a shout out. *chef's kiss* Overall, great experience and I would go back. :)

Just spent $533 for dinner with my wife. Meant to be a special evening. When we arrived precisely on time we were given a cocktail menu. We said we would instead of a cocktail be having wine with the meal. We ordered the 5 course tasting menu and wine pairing. The food was certainly outstanding. We did not spend any more time with one course than did any one else but after the 5 courses we were never asked if we would like an after dinner drink/digestive, coffee or tea. We were told we had 5 minutes to vacate and would I accept the check. I did accept the check and waited to pay. I received the check and since staff did not immediately appear to accept payment, I went to the men’s room. In the couple of minutes I was gone, staff asked my wife if she would like to pay. She said no and was absolutely furious. When I attempted tp pay, the credit card machine gave a no communication warning and the staff looked at me as if to expect different payment because my card wasn’t working when in fact it was the machine. We are not particularly slow eaterz so if you choose to go to this restaurant where the food is very good, do not expect to have a cocktail and a leisurely meal followed by coffee tea or an after dinner drink. You will e asked to leave as were we. We have never been treated like this anywhere in our lifetimes of eating at many fine restaurants allover Europe and North America, including many michelin starred and rated restaurants. They knew how to destroy our special evening.

Went there today for a birthday date with the wife and it was an amazing experience. We went for the 5 course tasting menu and it was just fabulous. The Guinea Fowl Pepper Fry and Scallops for starters were very good. The Bream fish was too good, venison a bit chewy but perfectly spiced. Lobster Cafreal was amazing with no overpowering taste of clove and the Tandoori Lamb Chops were just top notch. The chops were so soft and succulent that I didn't need a steak knife to cut, the normal butter knife cut through it just like butter. Coming to the main course again the Gongura Lamb was succulent and awesomely spiced while the Dorset Crab was just the perfect amount of tangy, special mention about the Dal Panchmel and Makai Palak, gave a very comfort food vibe. The desserts were very good mainly the Alphonso Mango Cheer, reminded me of the phirni I used to eat during Ramzan at Bohri Mohalla in Mumbai. A special mention for the mango mousse / panna cotta which was given to celebrate my birthday was just to the point and decadent. The service is very polite and make you feel at home. Point to note: the 5 course meal is very wholesome and you almost starting feeling full by end of course 3, but nothing can stop you from finishing it 😁 Overall a fantastic experience, truly made my day and amongst the best Indian food experiences in town.

What a fabulous meal! The menu was creative and interesting. It included only a few items that you would find in a typical Indian restaurant. What made Trishna special is the dishes that are difficult to find elsewhere. The wait staff patiently answered our question about the menu, mostly the sauces which were unfamiliar. Trishna offered an a la carte menu along with three different 5 course tasting menus - meat/poultry/seafood, vegetarian and vegan. Unlike many restaurants with tasting menus, each diner could choose their own food items (rather than entire table being required to share the same tasting menu). The cocktail menu was inventive, including a fabulous gin & tonic using Indian gin and a large fresh cardamom leaf as a garnish. The wine list was varied and reasonably priced. The desserts were delicious as well. If you’re interested in Indian fine dining, this is the place to go.

Tonight’s meal at the Indian 1* restaurant, Trishna was one of the key reasons why we made a special detour to visit London from Paris. Though all three of us are lovers of good Indian cuisine. However, to date, during our course of traveling and eating world wide, none of us has yet had the opportunity to savor a good Michelin star caliber Indian dining experience. The moment we step into Trishna, we immediately sense an air of sophistication and class normally exuded by a Michelin star establishment. From the friendly reception to the classy ambience, to the table setting with stemware, the attentive service etc and wine pairing offering, this is undoubtedly a dapper dining set up. We ordered a la carte from a varied, interesting and diverse menu containing dishes with quite a few unfamiliar terms and alien sounding and exotic ingredients. With the help of our well mannered and knowledgeable server we ordered the following dishes and then……’ kept our fingers crossed ‘!! - Papadum and Chutney trio - Nandu Varuval ( Masala fried Soft Shell Crabs, white crab, Tomato Chutney ) - Hariyali Sea Bream ( Green chili, Coriander, Smoked Tomato Kachumber ) - Hiran Kiboti ( Tandoori Venison, Tadka Dahi, Bonda, Pickled Venison ) - Gongura Lamb ( Welsh Lamb, Sorel Leaf, Guntar, Teja Chilli ) - Dorset Brown Crab ( Coconut Oil, Pepper, Garlic, Curry Leaf ) - Pepper Chicken Biryani ( Basmati, Saffron, Cashew, Pink Peppercorn Raita ) - Duck Keema Naan ( Shredded duck, Ginger, Green Chilli, Peppercorn Raita ) - Tandoori Pineapple and Coconut dessert ( Coconut Bavarois, Bebinca, Basil Lemon Curd, Coconut Jaggery Sorbet ) - Petit Fours Well, to answer your $64K question…..How was the food?! I have to honestly say, ‘ I don’t Know?! ‘....plenty of hits but with a miss here and there. Yes, there were indeed some spectacular tasting creations. The stand outs being the Creamy and complex Dorset Brown Crab curry, loaded with crab meat in a fantastic sauce that was perfect with rice. Another winner was the Hariyali Sea Bream. Smothered in a delicious coating, the perfectly cooked fish was flavourful, juicy and moist. This Hariyali dish was definitely a level or two up than any Toronto Hariyali dish offering. The Gungura Lamb curry was how a fine Lamb curry should be cooked…captivating taste profile coupled with attractive texture brought about by some tender and manageable chewy tendons. The complexly conceived dessert was unexpectedly inviting and delectable. A total surprise from an Indian Kitchen! My only disappointments of the evening were the pieces of slightly overcooked Tandoori Venison. If only instructions were given for them to be cooked medium rare, that would have been perfect! The fried Soft Shell Crab sounded attractive and appealing on paper. But in reality, the overcooked crab plus the heavily battered and firm coating, sadly diminishes the overall taste and mouthfeel. BTW, the star of the evening was NOT a food related dish but the Cocktail drink my daughter ordered! - A lip smacking good “ Toddy Shop Sour “ ( Tanqueray 10 Gin, Green Tea, Coconut Blossom Milk, Lemon Egg White, Peach )!....incredible how someone can come up with such a tasty concoction using some weird combination of ingredients? All in all, an enjoyable, wonderful and eye-opening dining experience!

The food and drinks are nice, but not worth the £400 bill for two people. I've eaten a lot of Michelin star and fine dining indian across the world, and this was just ok for me. I'm really surprised it has a Michelin star. The presentation was ok and the food was mostly flavoured well but not ground breaking. Highlight for me was the drinks and the popadom tray with chutneys. Good vegan options.

We went here for lunch on a Friday and didn't need reservations! The lunch tasting menu was amazing, and extremely filling. We had the aloo chat, the Malai broccoli, Aubergine curry and mango pistachio kheer and they were all incredible! We also loved the roasted potatoes and dal that came with the main course, and the naan was delicious and soft! The drinks were incredible too - we had the Nimbu Pani drink and the Old Fashioned and they were both delicious! The staff were very courteous and helpful, we'll definitely revisit!

The food is pretty good. Particularly enjoyed the morels and the shrimp curry. Didn't quite appreciate the attitude from the staff though. Me : what are your bread options? Staff: what would you like? ( sarcastically) Me: rumali roti Staff: (annoyedly) we can't make rumali rotis here. Have you seen how low our ceilings are? Me: 😶🤔

Delightful food complemented by incredible service. The flavors were outstanding. I ordered the lunch tasting menu and every dish was flavorful and beautiful. I wanted to eat every last bite so by the time I got to pudding, I had no more room left and they kindly packed it for me to take.

My experience at Trishna Restaurant was deeply disappointing, especially given its Michelin star status. The food was bland and completely unremarkable, failing to deliver the culinary excellence I anticipated. The service was mediocre, lacking attentiveness and warmth. For a restaurant celebrated for its quality, both the meal and the experience were surprisingly subpar.

We had a four course meal and in starters the crab, squid and prawns and especially duck was really good.. Chicken and lamb curry was average. Deserts were good too.

Incredible lunch. Really very tasty. The chops and prawn curry were exceptional, and everything we tried was faultless. Top level food, reasonably priced, with excellent welcoming service. Thank you for the extra birthday surprise. We really appreciate it and will be back again.

So disappointed with this restaurant. Got the prix fixe menu. The good was genuinely horrible and I have no idea how it got a Michelin star. The service was great but the cocktails were poorly made, weak, and a weird lukewarm temperature. The food was either overly salty, too vinegary, or completely bland with no other redeeming flavors to make the food complex. Even the dessert tasted stale and cheap like it had been sitting out on a bakery shelf for days. Save for your money and go elsewhere. Poor food for such a high price.

Review from someone from the English upper middle class of a certain age (60) who worked as a professional in the City of London for many years. For a one Michelin star restaurant, this is not a great place. My lamb main course had grizzly bits (reminds me of the meat in London in the early '90s), including one very nasty bony bit! Unbelievable! And my wife didn't enjoy her beef very much, either. The table was cramped and the service was a bit slow at times. At least the wine was good, but it was on the expensive side. All in all, will never be going back, and we've lived in North West London for over 25 years and have been to this restaurant several times in the past. Standards have certainly declined. Our local is much better (the lamb is certainly of superior quality) and the price is a fraction of the bill with which we were presented this evening. No doubt the restaurant, with its glorified Michelin star, plays well to the out of towners, but it's not for us. Our view = don't waste your money.

Outstanding cooking. Gently infused with interesting ideas, but still Indian at its core. Very fine and carefully balanced flavours. Excellent service. Lively atmosphere. The music can be too intrusive for me.

A great big thanks to Trishna’s wonderful staff, including Manesh, for making us feel so welcome celebrating my wife’s birthday, whilst we were visiting from The States. I’m gluten sensitive and both my wife and I were able to order our favorite foods off of the restaurant’s respective tasting menus. Gorgeous dishes prepared with such care and delicate spices. Best Negroni I’ve ever tasted. Can’t wait to return!

I honestly have no clue why this place has any Michelin stars, let alone two. The food is just run-of-the-mill, overpriced, Indian cuisine which you can find all over London. There is no originality or creativity in the dishes whatsoever and the place is so loud you can't even hear the waiters' explanations. When we visited, the drunken cheering & shouting of the private party behind the curtain in the next room downstairs ruined the ambience even further. In the JKS group, Trishna is head-and-shoulders above Gymkhana as a Michelin-starred restaurant. Even Brigadiers food quality is as good, if not better, for less money. Elsewhere, there are plenty of better options in London such as Jamavar, Pravaas, Manthan, Yaatra, Flora Indica and Cinnamon Kitchen to name a few.

Some confusion caused by review of Stephen B of 3rd March but it was plain when I came by yesterday 17.10 .19 it was all locked, dark and plainly had not reopened or showing any signs of doing so.

No ambience, waiters not very friendly. Food was good but not worth the money as the portions are absolutely small. Service wasn’t fantastic either. On the whole disappointing, wouldn’t go back again…
