well taste was ok , serving no alcohol is a disadvantage, ambience is very poor, tables are very close each other.

Were in the area a few weeks ago and booked a meal. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic service, could do enough for us. The food was incredible, and we were even allowed to take leftovers with us. The best pilau rice I’ve ever had, fantastic starter, meals, sides, and dessert was also great. Would definitely recommend overall, would love to come back if in the area again

Hadn’t been to Durbar for 40 years! Well what a treat, as good as I remembered.. delicious unrushed family birthday, good service and excellent traditional Indian cuisine, easy to park, a perfect Friday night out!

a very good and affordable Indian restaurant. The sauces were excellent, and there’s a wide variety of delicious vegetarian options. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the service was quick. I would definitely come again. One suggestion for improvement: adjusting the lighting could enhance the atmosphere, as it felt a bit too dark or overly blue.

The food was excellent, and interesting. A good range of choice for the carnivores and the vegetarians. The staff were very helpful. There was quiet music in the background. Not at all pretentious or trendy, but clean, and pleasant. We appreciated the BYOB. Overall highly recommended

It's seems the 10% discount is evident in the food portions. I'm not really one to complain but when you're paying a fair price for a curry you expect a fair portion. This was not the case.... I'd be intrigued to find out what other customers thought? 🤔

Visited the Durbar again last night. It’s the perfect local Indian restaurant, lovely staff who give great service and delicious food. Try the Chicken Dhansak, it’s excellent. Don’t forget to take your own beer or wine, as they don’t serve alcohol.

Food was good & yummy. Staff were not friendly but it’s ok . Service was good.

I recently had the worst dining experience, and I feel compelled to share the details of this disappointing visit. From the food quality to the service, everything was a disaster. First, every time the main door shut, it generated a horrible noise that echoed through the restaurant, setting the tone for what turned out to be an awful evening. The food was horrendous. The kebabs were barely cooked, with the meat still looking raw and unappetizing. They were watery and didn’t resemble anything close to a proper kebab. The bhindi (okra) dish was equally disappointing, lacking flavor and also watery. To top it off, the tandoori chicken was not fresh; it was cold inside, clearly not cooked to order. It seemed like it had been sitting out for a while before being served. The service was no better. The food was served, and after just three bites,one from each dish. we asked for the bill. We left the All of the food on the table, untouched, as you can see in the photos. Despite being the first table in the restaurant, with 3-4 staff members present on the floor, no one bothered to ask what went wrong or if we needed anything. Their indifference was astonishing, and I was so upset that I didn’t even bother to complain. To make matters worse, when I asked for a copy of the bill, the staff member literally snatched it from my hand and questioned why I needed it. It’s my right as a customer to receive an invoice for what I’ve paid for, but he only handed it back after scribbling the VAT number on it, which felt odd and unprofessional. This entire experience was frustrating and disappointing.

I had an awful experience at [Restaurant Name], and I must share it. The food was the worst I’ve ever had. The kebabs were undercooked, almost raw, and watery. The bhindi lacked flavor and was also watery. The tandoori chicken was cold inside, clearly not fresh. Service was just as bad. After a few bites, we asked for the bill, leaving most of the food untouched. Despite being the only table with multiple staff around, no one asked if something was wrong. Their indifference was shocking. To top it off, when I requested a copy of the bill, the staff member rudely took it from my hand and questioned why I needed it. It’s my right to have the invoice, but he only returned it after adding a VAT number, which felt unprofessional. This experience was frustrating from start to finish. I won’t be returning, and I advise others to avoid this place.

Terrible Experience at Durbar in Leinster Square I recently had one of the worst dining experiences at Durbar in Lister Square. As someone who enjoys authentic Indian cuisine, I was thoroughly disappointed by both the food and the service. We ordered chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, rice, and roti, expecting the rich flavors and spices that Indian cuisine is known for. Unfortunately, what we received was far from that. The chicken was sweet and lacked any depth of flavor. It was as if the dish had been watered down to the point of being tasteless. The tandoori chicken was even worse—it was essentially just fried chicken with no spice or seasoning, only an artificial-looking color. It didn’t resemble authentic tandoori chicken in any way and was a complete letdown. To add to the disappointment, the service was subpar. The staff seemed indifferent to our needs, and the overall experience felt rushed and careless. There was no warmth or hospitality, which is usually a hallmark of Indian dining. This was, without a doubt, the worst food I have ever had in London. I would not recommend Durbar to anyone looking for quality Indian cuisine. Save your time and money and look elsewhere for a better dining experience. 1/2 star

Super good restaurant and the staff are great, I recommend!!!

First time I've ordered from Durbar. I moved to the area recently and thought I'd give the place a go. Exceptional lamb madras, perfectly spiced and good heat levels. Restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, though I only came to collect my order. Top quality BIR. 👍👍

My friend and I were traveling in London and found this amazing restaurant. We ordered a wide variety of dishes so we could try a little of everything. The family was very helpful and the food was plentiful and tasty without being overwhelmingly spicy. We really appreciated the staff here and this ended up being one of our favorite restaurants in London.

A very average Indian restaurant with poor ambience, tired service and no liquor license. Fine for a cheap meal out.

The food was good but not amazing and the service was friendly but there were mistakes. We are outside because it was packed inside and it was far too stuffy. There isn’t much atmosphere either. Overall a 7.5 out of 10

This friendly neighbourhood restaurant, now in 67th year, serves delicious food with great service in a pleasant atmosphere. Frequented by locals who know how good it is and tourists who’ve done their homework on where’s good to go, you won’t be disappointed at the Durbar. Don’t forget to take your own beer or wine with you as they don’t serve alcohol.

Absolutely delicious. We had the mixed grill, spiced white fish, and scallops. All really good, even our toddler enjoyed with yogurt. Service was excellent, very friendly and accomodating. Would definitely recommend.

This restaurant is fantastic. It is super high-quality & authentic Indian food. Clearly the establishment cares greatly about your experience and takes pride in their service and the quality of their food. Has a local authentic feel. Not a fancy vibe, but perfect for a fabulous well priced meal!

Tried to email the restaurant directly before leaving a bad review but they have ignored me so here it is. This was not only the worst curry but literally the worst takeaway I have ever had from anywhere…ever. I ordered the butter chicken and what was served to me can only be described as chicken pieces in a tasteless brown coloured water. I am so shocked that the chef felt it was okay to send this out? It was barely even a curry let alone a butter chicken. I feel completely robbed especially as they haven’t even acknowledged my complaint. I will never ever give this place my money again. Disgusting.

The food here is actually amazing, and for the price too you can’t complain. Starters are quite large but very good! This starter was amazing and something I wish they did back home.

I have eaten at this restaurant quite a few times. I had Tandoori lamb chops for starter which were very flavoursome. Main course consisted of Prawn Balchao, plain parata and a portion of chips. The Prawn Balchao was excellent with a very lavish amount of prawns. The taste and texture of the parata was as good as any I have eaten. The restaurant did not have a licence to serve alcohol. However, the 0% lager on offer complimented the meal well. I would recommend this restaurant and would happily dine there again.

The food here was good, lamb rogan josh and chicken Tikka masala, both delicious. The problem was the service. We were two women who were apparently invisible to the four men working in the restaurant. We sat for over 15 minutes before we could get a menu. Then there was another 15-20 minutes where we had menus, but could not get anyone to take our order. The part that was enraging was that parties that included men came in after us and had FOOD ON THE TABLE while we waited. My husband finally joined us, and miraculously, we became visible, just as we were getting up to leave. We stayed and ate, but the whole experience left a bad taste. Groups of women, I would skip Durbar Tandoori and head down the block to try some nearby Persian or Lebanese restaurants.

Great little spot. Lovely staff. Food is 🤌. Great hours, open late with lots of happy customers.

Says food has been delivered but not to me it hasn’t. Contacted restaurant and he said it hadn’t even left yet. Placed order early even before restaurant open eta was 5:25pm originally. Also wasn’t delivered by one of your drivers but the restaurant worker as i recognised him in the restaurant on a previous visit. And the food was cold. Order finally arrived 18:45

Got food poisoning last night and puked twice at 3am. The chicken Lorient curry was bad tasting anyway, no great flavour , quite bland, but vomiting that was awful. Left me with a sore tummy this morning. Not going here again. My friend also had a sore tummy this morning.

I ordered 1 portion of mailai kofta they gave the box which was less than half full. When I asked the staff they rudely said this is the only portion they give. Horrible restaurant and service

I loved this restaurant. We were traveling here I knew we needed to get Indian food. As someone who has a dietary restriction, I really appreciated how their menu broke down every single item. The lamb samosas and their special chicken were my favorites. I also have to mention the lemon rice, which was also incredible. The fact that it is BYOB makes it unbeatable. 10 out of 10 recommend.

Delivery was meant to be between 8.05pm and 8.20pm, however at 8.25pm they clicked their portal that the food had been delivered. I called the restaurant at 20.35pm to determine about the delivery the first call I was informed the order is on route, the 2nd call I made at 8.45pm 2nd call they told me it was just leaving. Very poor communications and dishonesty, the deliver person also asked me if I had paid???. It really is such a shame as I really enjoy the cuisine at this establishment.

I visited here with my partner and we chose the restaurant because the staff were so welcoming and the menu looked top notch. However they serve a very anglicised, bland version of Indian cuisine. I Ordered Salmon tikka - which I make myself and these are supposed to be chunks of salmon, marinated in yogurt and spices and then cooked very fast in a hot tandoor oven. What arrived looked like two strips of salmon from a supermarket packet, no spice and seemingly just grilled. The salmon was dry and overcooked. My partner tried it and agreed. She had the lamb shank which was not tender and under-cooked. It wasn’t slow cooked to melt in the mouth. The saag panir was completely tasteless but the dish that summed up the chef’s expertise and the cuisine was the Dahl makahani. Bland, with a mix of lentils not the black lentils which should have been simmered for a long time and then spiced. The waiter asked how it was and I told him it wasn’t Dahl makahi. He made a face and whipped it off the table. Five minutes later he returned with it covered in cream saying because you wanted it spicy it didn’t taste right. The waiters - there were 5 of them — for us and another table eating, then became a bit sulky. All around the restaurant are awards for the food however I wouldn’t eat here again and if you’re looking for authentic, tasty Indian food I would recommend you avoid this restaurant too. Not sure if the award winning chef was on holiday but it certainly felt like it.

I have been going to Durbar for many years but last night's experience was subpar. The restaurant was very full and the waiters were all over the place. We sat for 30 min and asked for water 3 times, the water came after we had finished the appetisers. We had to wait for our main for 25 min and when it came it was cold and quite insipid. Throughout the time we were there, the door kept being opened with the waiters going in and out doing take-away orders which meant we got a cold draft every time the door opened, that combined with people going to the nearest shop to buy their own alcoholic drinks (it's a BYOW restaurant) meant there was constant traffic in and out the door. I got the sense they prioritised takeaway orders rather than the people in the restaurant, which had a knock-on effect on quality, service and atmosphere. It's time to find a new local.

Cozy little Indian restaurant in a lively neighborhood. Very good food, they have also won several awards.

Outstanding food and service. We had a good mix of dishes, including vegetarian, chicken and lamb. All very tasty, with quality ingredients and cooking. Service was polite, efficient, and friendly. Will definitely go back.

Went out to eat here for a work do! And I can honestly say the dishes I have tried were worst Indian dishes I have tried in my whole life!! No flavour, bland, no salt, no pepper no taste. I was annoyed because I was looking forward to the meal. I tried the following items; Hydrabadi lamb biriyani, it was NOT biriyani! It was fried rice in oil (that’s what it tasted like) with few pieces of bland lamb! There was no aroma! No taste, no salt, no pepper, no flavour! Most of all no biriyani masala or ghee! It’s was awful. I tried the lamb kebabs for starter- again was very dry. Samosa- was just ok- again could have added a little spice. tandoori chicken- again this was no tandoori chicken it tasted like chicken pasted with red food colouring, fried in load of oil! Again no flavour of tandoor masala, yogurt, or spice, and no taste of it being inside a tandoor! Very disappointed. Lorient special chicken - was not very nice either. I ate the peshawari naan- which tasted okay only. My experience was so bad that I was too scared to try anything else, my colleagues ordered other dishes which also compared was very bland, such and lamb shanks and lamb Kaliyan. I think they have too many things on their menus- and half it is made with same base , but tweaked! I am never going back even if the meal is free. Please fix up!

Great food and professional service! Having worked in 5-star luxury hotels for many years, I must say the senior staff here have mastered the service sequence. That’s when you get to enjoy the delicious food and pleasant time with friends without any awkward ‘excuse me’. Will definitely come back!

Excellent attention from the waiters. The menu is super extensive. The food was excellent in every way. Abundant portions. The atmosphere is a bit noisy and the bathroom could be cleaner.

Excellent curry at reasonable prices, nice ambience and good service. Recommend the Lorient chicken for a flavourful but mild option. I went recently but we also went for Christmas one year and had a delicious and memorable meal.

The food was really lovely, with wonderful flavours. However, the vegetable side dishes were absolutely tiny yet extremely pricey. Rice was also small. All in all excellent quality but very expensive.

Recently found this place near me, very well made curries, onion bahji + naan also tasting great. Having ordered twice the only issue has been the rice which has not been good on both occasions which is the only reason I put 4*

We ordered lime chicken, chicken tikka masala, crab cake, vegetable pulao and butter naan. Every single dish was so authentic and delicious. The spice level was customized according to our request. Very nice interior and a soulful music.

Had chicken biriani from there, it was most terrible biriani I have ever had. No taste, no spice, chicken pieces were uncooked. Chicken pieces were chew. I taste so much coconut in biriani, which is unusual for biriani. I will never order anything from there

This was the best Indian food i’ve ever had. Not only was the food delicious but the service was amazing as well. The staff were very warm and accommodating and had great recommendations. I had a very pleasant experience and highly recommend!

Best Indian I’ve ever had, super nice staff. I had their special Loriant chicken and my girlfriend the chicken tikka masala. Also had a peshwari naan. Totally fantastic!

I always look forward to the food at Durbar! Never disappoints me and the staff there are lovely, fast and helpful. If you love good food and curry I’d definitely recommend it. Also, the bring your own booze thing is great.

I had the soft buttery naan with that creamy shrimp korma (which I highly recommend).my brother had the tandoori Lamb chop and chicken with rice with looked so banging ngl . It had other people around us ordering it too. Will come again

Nach vielen Jahren und schönen Erinnerungen haben wir das Durbar erneut besucht. Wir haben uns für das preisgekrönte Gericht für 2 Personen entschieden und sind nicht enttäuscht worden. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

I’ve been to Durbar 5-6 times and the food quality has always been consistent. I do quite enjoy the food here and have probably tried almost everything vegetarian on the menu.

Great spot for some interesting curry dishes... the chicken with Pustachios is divine! We’ve ordered both take out and dined in and are happy to report its just as lovely either way! BYOB too which keeps the bills low :)

Went with family. Met by warm and friendly staff. Our food consisted of four starters and main courses. We all agreed it was the best Indian meal we had ever had. Freshly cooked. A blend of spices is just right. Very reasonable prices. Can't wait to go back

Supergod mat, trevlig service och väldigt prisvärt. Serverar bara alkoholfritt, men det är ok att ha med sig eget öl eller vin, vilket vi såg att andra på restaurangen hade. En bred meny, synd att man inte kunde prova allt! Vi var alla väldigt mätta och nöjda när vi gick därifrån!
