Absolutely delicious!!! Would 1000000% recommend! Everyone was lovely welcoming and friendly, even boxed up the rest of my meal for me.

Not really cheap but not bad food.You could easily spend £20 plus if not £25 on one person if you have main rice nan and side.

Feeling peckish and wanted to go here for a quick meal/snack with tea. Here’s what we thought: Pros: 1. Waiters were really friendly and professional 2. Asked if food could arrive quickly as we were in rush and they listened. Cons: 1. Decor and interior is extremely dated. Felted like we had entered a restaurant from 1980/90s. If you’re into that sort of thing, then great. It felt quite dark/dim lighting, stench of cigarettes and alcohol. The vibes/atmosphere were not welcoming 2. Food was mediocre to taste and poorly presented. Not sure if it was fresh or just reheated/ half cooked after being semi-cooked earlier. Servings sizes were not as expected. Felt like being served at an asian wedding from the 90s from the way the food was presented and the garnish. 3. Most Indian restaurants serve fresh tea. Was disappointed to learn that only served bagged tea. You’re missing out on current trends with karak/masala chai being very popular Overall: Place has alot of potential but in serious need for an update. The staff were so sweet but the food and interior was lacking.

Over an hour and half for delivery. No apology, no recompense. Would not answer straight questions

Visited Shapla last night (Friday) with friends for a curry. The food was excellent as was the staff and atmosphere. We arrived at 7.15 and by the time we had finished the restaurant was full. Still the best curry in Barnet.

Good service, but the place is tiny and if you sit close to the entrance, be prepared for the noise, phone calls and couriers standing just a foot away from you. The food was okay, maybe a bit too sweet for my taste.

Firstly my bottle of coke was flat. When I checked the date on the bottle, it had expired in March 2022. The vegetable balti wasn't very nice at all. Vegetables were over cooked and sauce was bland. Worse of all, they tried to over charge us. They had put on an extra £1 on each main dish and the drinks were £2.90 for a bottle and £2.20 for a glass of small coke. They had written down £6.75. Had to query the bill twice. They were not happy. When they brought the amended bill, they said they had given us a special discount, but the bill was what it was supposed to be. Always check your bill closely, and use a calculator to add it up. Never again

Excellent food, friendly family owned restaurant. Butter chicken like no other served here, tandoori chicken from here is also a favourite. <1min walk from council carpark, and bus stop right outside.

There are actually no good Tandoori restaurants in Barnet, and Shapla is no exception. The staff are efficient but somewhat testy in their attitude. Food was served in good time, but when asked how everything was for the second time I decided to give my honest opinion. As a regular traveler to India, I have some idea of what to expect from a dish, even allowing for the British palette, the Mutter Paneer was completely flavourless. If the sauce contained any tomato, onions or cashew nut and Garam masala as it should, then I have lost my sense of taste. Just bland paneer and peas in some kind of pale mixture. I was told in response to this that mutter paneer is a ‘mild dish’, as though I am not to the know the difference between chilli and spice. The chicken Tikka had not been anywhere near a tandoor oven that day and arrived dry and and almost without flavour. The onion ‘raita’ again, a spoonful of onion sitting on a blob of yoghurt. Not mixed, no cummin, no salt, nothing. The pilau rice was cool, yellow and void of any taste or aroma. My fellow diners agreed with me as we lamented the fact that sat in an empty restaurant on a Thursday night and wondered when there will be a decent Indian restaurant in the area.

We wanted Indian takeaway for my Dad’s 80th birthday party. We struggled to find one open on Saturday lunchtime, but eventually found this one. Called them up a week in advance to double check they would be open and serving takeaway at Saturday lunchtime. Yes, no problem they said, call them up at 1230 on the Saturday and place the order. That’s what we did only for the person who answered the phone to say they were not open or serving food till 6pm! We couldn’t believe it. My dad has dementia and was really looking forward to Indian food for his milestone birthday and the day was planned around that meal as the highlight. Not only were we left completely panicked and stressed at trying to find a last second alternative but we really worried at how my dad might take the bad news. What an absolute sh*tshow of customer service! Why would one staff member tell us yes open on Sat lunchtime, place your order at 1230 and another on the day say no we are not open till 6?!?! Shame on you Shapla for your complete misinformation, messing up our day!

Great place. Fabulous chicken Korma sauce ... best in area. Great food and proprietor - friendly polite and very helpful to disabled lady who ordered late late. I'm recommending to everyone.

Although the service could be better (the staff always seem a bit grumpy) the food is unbeatable, my goto curry house.

Me and my wife use to travel 100 miles to eat here as our first visit what mind blowing good. But our last visit was one of the worst tbh bland food almost s An hour wait. charged for complimentary dips that we didnt even ask for and have been free all other times we been . £5 for one glass of bottled cheap coke when questioning the drink prices met with aggressive staff. So payed and left with no thank u come back soon ..think were look more local from now on. Lets hope they were having a off day as i use to love this place that gave us good memories.

I have never had a bad meal here, I have been coming here for 30years. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food is delicious, highly recommended.

Dined in the restaurant and honestly it was the best and most filling Indian I've ever eaten. The food was so rich in flavour you didn't need an enormous portion - plus the mint sauce was the best I've ever tasted. Would 100% recommend to a friend and go again

We used to visit the Shapla nearly every Saturday for a long time. The food was always excellent and great value. Service from the manager and his staff was always really friendly. I hope the manager and staff are keeping well and we hope to see them soon.

Loved it. We got a table for when they opened and I think that was a good idea as they do get busy especially with the Monday-Wednesday gov discount. If you can book as couple of people were turned away. Food was delicious and the service I can't complain about it was great.

We have been going for years now and we really like it and the friendly staff a good place to eat in or take-way, But the last few times we have had a takeaway there has been parts of the order missing and when it has been delivered we have had to reheat our 1 st lot of food.

We have come here for the last 30 yrs on and off and always enjoyed great food in an excellent restaurant. Tonight all of that was still true, however, for the first time ever I was disappointed with he house red wine, it was awful and when I mentioned this , another was brought, also awful. Unfortunately this restaurant only sells house wine by the glass. As a couple where only 1 glass of wine was wanted, I was forced to buy a bottle i didn't want, to get a good glass. It was £18, I took the rest home. This spoilt a nice evening.

We have been in Shapla twice.First time food and service were great,so we were looking forward to eat there again.Second time was disappointment.Food was tasteless but service was even worse.Waiter was rude and disinterested and seem he got offended because we didn't leave the the tip( tip for what?) .

I am really surprised that there is not more reviews about this restaurant.Nice and cozy,food really tasty.Vide choice of food,vegetarian especially,reasonable prices too,portions as they should be.We got there around 10 pm,left 11pm and more people arrived at that time,so opening hours are another plus.Highly recommended!

I have come to Shapla for years. I love it. In fact, writing this now makes me want to order a curry!

Ate here a few nights ago, just a couple of hours out with my DH, and we were both impressed. The house red was pleasant and reasonably prices, the service excellent and the food really tasty. We both went for the chicken tikka madras with pilau rice, plain naan, saag aloo, cauliflower bhaji and mushroom bahji. The curry was beautiful, well spiced and plenty of sauce with good pieces of chicken breast. We will definately eat at the Shapla again and can recommend it.
