My Brother has been before and he said how amazing it was, so he treated me. The best hotdog I have ever had, it was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend. 😋

This is our second time visiting Tricoloryork and the food is amazing and the service is 10/10. If you're visiting York it's a must, a gem in the city!

The owners of this little jewel are so friendly and welcoming. I’ve been here a few times now with friends and also with my other half and my dog. The food is cooked in front of you and is clearly all prepped from scratch. There’s certainly a lot of love goes into this food. Delicious Colombian style plantain and arepas… wow!

Ate here yesterday with a group of colleagues. What an amazing discovery. The food is in expensive, freshly cooked, hot. I ordered two empanadas as a starter, thinking they would be small, they were not. At £5 for 2, or £3 each much nicer than a sandwich or a famous sausage roll. I also tried the plantain which was just as good. We all had something different, and not one of was disappointed. I will back, especially for the empanadas.

Excellent service, very friendly, great gluten-free food for all. Delicious too. We had the meal deal of Start, Main and a drink and left full....even teenage boy!

Some of the best food you can find in York. The staff are wonderful and the restaraunt has a homely atmosphere. While it isn’t all the healthiest, you won’t want to miss tricolor. Whenever I’m in York, this is my go to!

Was absolutely delicious!! We had carimañolas, Ajiaco, and Arepa. Everything was really tasty and filling! I'm Colombian, and food felt like the homemade one! The staff was great! Very nice and helpful. I would recommend 100% and if I have the chance I'll definitely come back!

Excellent food and friendly people. Not the healthiest option - everything is fried - but it's prepared very well and is delicious. Veggie options are also great, both for vegans and vegetarians. The upstairs seating area has been much improved since Tricolor first opened and is pleasant to spend time in. If you're having Arepas, do eat in, though described as street food they can be tricky to eat outdoors without the filling spilling out. The comment below on vaping prompted me to write this review. Much as I dislike vaping, calling it a food safety hazard and giving the restaurant one star because of it, is just plain mad/self-indulgent and definitely not deserved by the hard working and lovely people who run this establishment.

We were really looking forward to eating at Tricolour as we had heard really positive reviews, but upon reaching the premises we decided to cancel our visit. The reason for this was that a the man who went into the cafe seconds before us immediately sat down at a table on the ground floor next to the kitchen area and began vaping. Given that this person immediately sat at a table without going to the counter suggests that he was a member of staff or a friend of the staff. I am very concerned that the staff at Tricolour think that vaping not only in a cafe but close to a food preparation area is acceptable. I’m sure any prospective customers will agree that this is unhygienic and a good reason to not purchase food from Tricolour (unless you like eating food that tastes of vape smoke).

I do delivery for this restaurant and all the other restaurants in Yotk . I can say after working York for 7 years the owners are about the best you will come across and the food is fantastic

Perfect food and great staff, owner is really helpful and friendly, it’s undoubtedly the best Latin restaurant in York, and probably the north east. I recommend the salchipapas, and pony Malta, something I haven’t had since I was a little kid in Ecuador !

We stopped for a quick lunch and grabbed 2 empanadas (for only £5!) to go. They were super tasty and full of delicious filling. The staff were super friendly and more than happy to tell us about their restaurant and make recommendations for the future. We will be back!

We had the seafood casserole, which was absolutely delicious, and packed with seafood, and the papitas fritas, which was just as tasty as we’ve had in South America. Even though we were full, we had to try the Buñuelos and Chorros with the Dulce de leche along with a Colombian coffee for desert and we were really pleased we did! The staff were very friendly and it has a really relaxed atmosphere. Tricolor is a great addition to the choice of little restaurants in York!

Lovely little restaurant with such a nice atmosphere. Although we only got churros, the rest of the food smelled amazing and the staff were very attentive and helpful. It made us definitely want to go back for food again.

The hot dog was nice Think the pork dish needs more to it. Tasty but pretty dry . Maybe An egg or some crispy pork belly like Colombians do with bandeja paisa

As a Colombian is always nice to find empanadas ay hand… you must try them! One of my favourite things is that our cuisine has different free from wheat options and you will find a few of them in Tricolor. Have a go and try lechona, empanadas, arepas y buñuelos made by Colombians in Tricolor and don’t forget to ask for a tintico (black americano) Happy to come back to this place which seems to have been doing well moving from a stall to their own place in town.

This restaurant is absolutely fantastic, and an excellent addition to York! My absolute favourites are the lechona and the beef empanadas, accompanied by my go-to drink, Lulo hit. The staff are incredibly attentive and super friendly, always ready to make you feel at home and answer any questions. Definitely worth a visit, and make it regular!

This review is based on my recent experience on Sunday, October 13th at about 2:00pm. My husband and went to the Hairy Fig for a Sunday lunch. This was his first time there, mine was the second. I had already been there with a friend a few weeks ago and it was all great so I was quite keen for him to try it. At that time it wasn't that busy so we got seated straight away. A lady approached us and said that there were a few items off the menu (pies, sausage rolls etc) so we were OK with that. As I had already been there, I knew they had gluten-free options (the sandwiches are also available on GF bread) so I was going to order the bluecheese one. I was the one who ordered first and, to my surprise, the lady said that they didn't have GF bread and she said that she'd give us a few min to read the menu again. At that point, I sort of knew I didn't have many options. I thought about the quiche but I would need to ask if it had gluten. When she came back again, my husband asked what the options (for me) were. She said that they had GF crackers and that they could serve the cheese platter for me and/or soup with crackers. Unfortunately, we had to leave. I was expecting to have PROPER lunch like I did the first time I went there (a toasted sandwich with salad and crisps on the side). My whole issue with this experience was the lack of proactivity and the overall poor service. I did not understand why she would just leave us to to read the menu again when my options were so limited (she could have said it from the beginning). What was the point of waste time when my second choice (quiche) was not suitable either? Had I ordered it, would she have stepped back to let us read the menu again? It was quite a disappoinment. I know the food is really good but, once they run out of GF bread, there's a lack of choices for people who can't have gluten. Also, the service wasn't the best. It is not that they were really busy so they have no excuse. We ended up going to Mannion and Co. There, we were greeted by a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable man who got us sorted straight away. Such a shame we didn't experience something like this at the Hairy Fig. After this incident, we won't go back or recommend it to anyone else.

As this is an Argentinian steak restaurant, expect a bit of an expense. That said, 4 (steak) mains with two bottle of wine were £165. The food is simple, good, well cooked and well served. Would recommend.

Carsyn looked after us so well this afternoon, great attention to detail, helped with food and drink recommendations and kept our bottomless brunch drinks flowing for two hours! Great choice of cocktails, lots of variety.
