Ate here a while back the food was exceptional for central London and the name behind this excellent value

It may have been good at one stage..... but it certainly isn't now ! Lots of fuss and ceremony, with staff presenting each plate of food with a fanfare fit for the Queen of Sheba. But instead of a Royal experience, expect John Prescott chewing a wasp. A miso dressing with so much salt that it could refloat the Titanic. Tiny morsels of food going firmly beyond " Nouvelle Cuisine" towards "Miserly". And not that well cooked either, creating the impression, perhaps falsely, of a chef whose self regard has exceeded their taste, putting experimentation ahead of outcome. After all, the prime purpose of a restaurant is to feed customers, not to have them asking for more, in a bad way. As my gran would say: " All fur coat and no knickers "

We enjoyed great service and a wonderful tasting menu here. The vegan option was chosen by most of us with one choosing the meat based option. Either way it was well presented and tasted pretty too. It wasn't at all crowded which was surprising for a Friday evening. Having said that it is a tad on the expensive side. Worth it though.

The food was interesting, imaginative and delicious, the service impeccable and the decor/lighting/sound gave great ambiance. It was a very professional but personal experience. I could not rate this place more highly

Absolutely the best restaurant to go to! The staff are second to none and the food is amazingly good. We always have the plant based menu as we are vegan and it's rare to find somewhere that isn't exclusively vegan that does such great plant based food. Thank you to Sandram for impeccable service and all of the staff for being so lovely! I am sure we will be back soon!

This restaurant offers a children’s tasting menu which is an amazing concept! My son devoured it all but felt like he had an experience not just a meal. It was lovely to do the same thing in a relaxed and inclusive place. Wonderful birthday meal!

This is a lovely restaurant in a great location and with good service. Those factors alone can make it worthwhile. But when you get to the food it's all rather disappointing. An asparagus starter sounded good, given that this is asparagus season, but when it arrived there was one asparagus stalk, split in 4 pieces, over some other vegetables - £13 for that. And the oysters were rather too mushy and all the seawater had been drained. Warning - a good number of the dishes are on the arty but small side of things.

Food is raised to culinary art at Tredwells Restaurant in the city's famous West End. Chef Chantelle Nicholson has created an understated space with an industrial look and a menu based on sustainability and seasonally-available items. The service is impeccable―from the moment we walked in, to table service, to dessert and after-dinner drinks.  The menu is based on a modern approach to traditional British dishes, sometimes as a result of fusion with Asian ingredients.   While there, we enjoyed :― deep-fried Brussel sprouts, miso― halibut, mussels, leeks― homemade sourdough― Jerusalem artichoke agnolotti, bacon consommé― prawns― truffled cauliflower cheese― young beef chuck, parsnips, watercressChef Nicholson succeeds in creating not just memorable food but a spectacular dining experience, one that we savored long after we departed London.

Despite having a confirmed reservation for a table of one at 20:15 on Thursday evening, a table was not available for me and I could not be accommodated.I was asked to take a seat at the bar but due to ‘slow’ diners, there was insufficient time to accommodate me for a meal.The staff were nonetheless polite hence I have given this post a lower score.Most unimpressed and was even charged for the bar drinks!!I will NEVER revisit folks and strongly suggest you give a call to make sure your reservation is supported by a table being available!Tredwells - you must do better as the experience on Thursday was appalling!

I think overall, the atmosphere was nice although I had higher expectations for the food. In particular, i did not enjoy my celeriac - though it is salt baked, it felt a bit too salty to the palate to be enjoyable. The waitress was great though and it was a very friendly, comfortable environment.

Estuve en el almuerzo del sábado en Tredwell (recomendado por mi amigo) con mi prometido, el lugar sigue estrictamente las pautas del gobierno de seguridad, desinfectantes limpios y en todas partes.Una camarera pelirroja cuidó nuestra mesa y tuvimos un almuerzo increíble, disfrutamos tanto de la comida como del servicio de la camarera, estábamos sentados al lado de la barra y desde ese día Tredwells es mi lugar favorito para ir a pasar mi tiempo. con familiares, amigos o incluso para reuniones de negocios. ! !¡Lo recomiendo altamente! ! !

Mi esposa, mis dos hijos y yo disfrutamos de una comida maravillosa en Tredwells ayer por la noche. Nos recibió en la puerta con una cálida bienvenida y un personal enmascarado nos acompañó a nuestra mesa y nos alertó sobre la opción de menú Código Q para ahorrar el uso de menús en papel. Había una pequeña botella de desinfectante de manos sobre la mesa para nuestro uso. Después de eso, el servicio fue rápido, cortés y profesional y nos hizo sentir bienvenidos. Luego disfrutamos de una comida verdaderamente deliciosa con buen vino e hizo que la celebración del cumpleaños de mi esposa fuera memorable.

Excellent vegetarian options with beautifully flavoured and presented dishes.

Tenía una reserva para el almuerzo para un asado de domingo y con un clima húmedo realmente horrible, era esperado con impaciencia.El menú de 3 platos tenía un precio de 35.Para empezar, optamos por albóndigas de venado crujientes y un repollo a la parrilla con miso.El repollo asado con miso estaba delicioso y las albóndigas no estaban mal, aunque un poco frías.Me sorprendió descubrir que no tenían un plato de pollo disponible en este menú, por lo que la elección se limitó a carne de res, pescado o una opción vegetariana.Optamos por la opción de carne de res y pedimos que estuviera bien hecha, pero luego nos dijeron que, desafortunadamente, solo tenían carne de res que es de color rosa medio, ¡ya que todos están cortados de un porro! Very nice restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly and very attentive without being intrusive. The vegan roast was really tasty - the best Yorkshire puddings I've had as a vegan. Only slight negative was the roast potatoes were very big and slightly undercooked, but I didn't raise this with our waitress, and I'm sure they would have brought more potatoes had I done.

Visité la semana pasada con la familia, la decoración se veía bien y la bienvenida fue agradable. ¡Luego vino la comida! Las albóndigas de venado crujientes (12 por 3 pequeñas albóndigas) no estaban crujientes sino empapadas y apenas tibias y no parecían recién preparadas. Tres de nosotros comimos merluza confitada, brandada, mermelada de alcaparras y risotto de centeno (26), la merluza estaba muy bien cocida, pero el risotto de centeno estaba aguado y tenía granos duros y bastante desagradable. ¡La otra persona tenía un pequeño trozo de coliflor asada para 21! ! Para colmo, el vino blanco estaba a temperatura ambiente. La camarera fue agradable e hizo todo lo posible para describir cada plato e ingredientes, lo cual fue un poco vergonzoso ya que era tan pobre. La factura era de 320 por 4 y si no hubiéramos estado con la familia, me habría quejado. Desafortunadamente, no volveremos, lástima. . . . . .

An Amazing dinner and lovely evening at Tredwells. Very confident service and you can see why; the food and experience is exceptional. Also rare to find different menu dishes that exceed the normal popular London restaurant staples!

Realmente una gran decepción. Reservé a través del sitio web de Marcus Wareings, pero la comida era tan mala. El restaurante también fue lo suficientemente bueno como para cumplir con nuestro cupón para el almuerzo de los domingos los sábados, ya que no abrían los domingos en el momento de volver a reservar.Gran servicio y comida increíble. . . la paleta de cordero estaba súper tierna y el jugo estaba lleno de sabor. El bistec de mi esposo también estaba maravillosamente cocinado y tierno. Compartimos queso caulifower de trufa que era divino! ! No hay palabras para describir el helado suave de caramelo salado con panal. . . simplemente excelente! ! ¡Me encantó y definitivamente volveremos! ! !

Had a fantastic experience at Tredwells. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and COVID safe with good social distancing and plenty of alcohol gel. Incredible vege tasting menu. Beautiful flavours and felt satisfyingly full to boot. Highly recommended !

We had a wonderful meal at Tredwells including a fantastic Duck main course full of flavour and the incredible Salted Caramel Soft Serve with Honeycomb. Service was impeccable. Highly recommended!

Wow. We have never tasted such a lovely plant based menu. We are vegetarian and not vegan and the depth of flavours was unbelievable. Great staff and a wonderful wine list make this a go to restaurant whenever we are in London Staff were exceptional

Really nice service. But food was just not great. Had the set menu which was probably not the right choice. Pork and the Beef were very fatty and chewy. The caremel ice cream was unpleasant too.£120 for 2 albeit a bottle of wine was easy more than this was worth. Maybe I was expecting more as we had ventured out on a corona night but just really disappointed.

Booked this for a birthday celebration. The staff acted as if they were doing you a favour and it wasn't what we expected at all. Food was just ok and added in the attitude of the staff we would find it incredibly hard to recommend or eat in this restaurant at again. A real shame as we do love the other restaurants in the Waring stable.

We had the special menu £29 for three courses including a cocktail which was amazing value and absolutely delicious. The receptionist, the barman, the waiting staff, the kitchen staff and chefs all made our experience special. They did not put a foot wrong, even accommodating our son and girlfriend who turned up unexpectedly at the last minute and they managed to produce main courses for them in a timely manner. I also loved my little birthday truffle and candle as a finishing touch. Thank you all!

The restaurant is totally dead, granted it was a Monday, but there’s no atmosphere. The restaurant set up is strange with a plate clearing area by the toilets. Staff were friendly and the food was alright, but the whole experience was odd. I would not recommend.

8 of us were celebrating our birthday. We all had different dishes so tried a wide variety from the menu. Everything was delicious, although there were lots of things on the menu we'd never heard of! The staff we friendly and efficient.

Went with my mother today as this was a gift for her after the theatre. My mother struggles to eat out as she has a severe chilli allergy and a serious intolerance to spice. We approached treadwells and they were unbelievably caring, considerate and helpful. They catered to her without spoiling flavour or quality.The food was of an extremely high standard which was lovely to see my mother finally enjoy food like this. Major thanks to kayla who discussed this with the kitchen prior to our arrival. The head chef (apologies, we didn't get your name) to catering to my mother and designing a beautiful menu for her. Finally our amazing host Francesco who was so attentive and was excellent with handling the dietary requirements.We cannot wait to return.

The main thing is always the food and the food here is great. Nice stylish restaurant.

We had the offer and i suppose you get what you pay for, albeit that the bill with extras was 65 each. However the cocktail offered and the dessert tasted of little but sugar. Starters were ok. Mains were an Incongruous mix of flavours (a pork and a hake). Worst of all was a 5 pound side portion of broccoli that came as a large head swimming in an awful sauce. It looked dreadful.

What a shame! We had booked this as a Friday night treat before the theatre. The experience left us rather cold. The meal was OK. The service hot and miss. The knowledge of the staff poor. This is the 3rd time we have tried it but each time we have come away saying that it was disappointing. We won’t be back for a 4th time I’m afraid.

The food was very good, but they need to work on speed of service. They offer a prix fixe pre-theatre menu but were unable to serve us in time for our show, despite the restaurant being only half full.

Dined here last night following attending the Theatre to see The Mousetrap.Friendly professional welcome, we were a little early so asked to sit at bar for a pre dinner drink, which was nice & relaxing start to the evening. After around 20mins taken to our table which was upstairs. Lovely area & good atmosphere. Very good varied menu & waiter asked if any questions relating to the menu which I thought was good.I had the Pork Belly which was superb, my husband the ribeye steak, which he said was cooked to perfection.It isn’t cheap, but quality of service, food, atmosphere was excellent, will definitely return.

Overall, we had a very good dining experience. The service was a little slower paced, which afforded plenty of time for conversation during dining. Make sure to save room for dessert, which was delicious!

Loved this restaurant.Brought visitors to London and we all loved the decor, booth-style seats, excellent menu and great service. There was an excellent choice for everyone, with a nice bar on the ground floor as well as one downstairs. Nice cocktails and great location before we headed off to the theatre.We will be back.

Really struggled to write this review the restaurant had an excellent location central in London. The welcome was excellent even though we were early we sat at the bar for a short time to wait for our table. We went downstairs to eat the decor was beautiful throughout. The food was delicious we had three courses each one was as good as the next. What was the problem then well the ambience that what was missing this was a birthday treat. It was expensive not a every night meal. It is so important to create a good atmosphere smile at least make a little small talk. There are many good restaurants in London people want the full package.

Great for a pre theatre dinner. The considerate menu with 3 courses was enjoyed by everyone. The only slight criticism was the hake , perfectly cooked and beautifully fresh was slightly bland for my taste. A bit more seasoning would have been perfect The other courses were all lovely and the staff were friendly and attentive. It is not hectic as some other restaurants have proven to be making conversation difficult. Tredwells has atmosphere and is roomy enough to relax. Recommended.

We came for early dinner after matinee At theatre. It was our second visit and as it was heavy rain we arrived early with hope of getting earlier table than had booked. As it was busy We were taken to the bar to enjoy some drinks until seated. Our table was downstairs this time not as good as the area upstairs but was fine. The staff were very attentive and helpful and our meal of burratta, prawns a d halibut and hake was amazing. We had the choux nut and praline desserts to finish both were fab. My meal was from a la carte my husband's was the set menu and both were of high quality. Will return again.

Last night was our first time in Tredwells but it will not be our last. Our evening started with welcoming staff. Then we had a very enjoyable pre-dinner drink in a relaxed bar area. The staff were very helpful in explaining any questions we had over the menu. And then the food arrived. It was all delicious and plates were wiped clean with the tasty sourdough bread. We had a super, relaxed evening and will definitely go back.

Miso glazed january cabbage to start with was wow. Amazing and simple food but perfectly executed.

We went for our wedding anniversary - before a going to a show. It was the second time coming here. The first time was 'okay', nothing to shout about. This time was different - in a very positive way. Before we arrived, we received a call confirming the booking - and my wifes dietary requirements. First restaurant to note dietary issues. Normally restaurants don't read that bit when we book online so we're greeted with an - "er-um, we'll see what we can do" when we get there. It didn't start well on arrival and when we were seated, not because of the restaurant, but because of parents seated near us bringing their children for childrens birthday party (!!). I know - not the place for shouting children when clearly people were having a belated valentines 'couples' dinner (15th of Feb). It was quite selfish, and we were not the only ones exchanging looks. Just to be clear; children in restaurants - fine, if they behave or are kept quietly entertained. But not when they shout and scream. I blame the parents - not the children. So rather than hoping the chef will surprise us by Flambe the little darlings, we asked to move and it was acknowledged with a knowing look before we finished the sentence. We went to another floor. The rest of the evening was faultless. The waitress (Tina) was very attentive and skilled in managing my wife's diet - which is not the easiest and appreciate is can be a royal pain for restaurants. The food was timely and delicious - and more than enough quantity. I did regret ordering the Mac&Cheese side order - i didn't need it - but forced it down as it was so nice. With sparkling water, cocktail, wine, coffee and 3 courses for two people, it came to £135 with service added. Not cheap, but worth it - we look forward to returning. I would recommend the restaurant updates its policy that children are expected to behave and not disturb other diners. We were moved, but others people looked really annoyed. I doubt they will return.

My friends booked this for me as a bday treat. I usually go for the bling new openings. This looked nice but quite understated. However this place is allllll about the food. I am quite a fish eater but here as much as the fish was nice, the veg dishes blew me away. I am still in shock by the quality of the food. This finally isn’t about the pomp and show (still good ambience) it’s about the exception food. Different flavours and creative presentation. It was mid priced too. I just can’t say enough about this place. Can’t wait to take the family.

I went with a friend yesterday for the set menu and it was out of this world. The food was original, delicious and filling and it was by far the best food I have had in years. The Polenta Chips were beautiful and crisp as were the triple cooked chips, but forget all the sides the hake fishcake to start was so fresh and flavoursome. Not bad value £30 with set menu, although it always works out more when adding sides and extra cocktails, but so worth it and staff couldn’t have been more attentive.

Decided to give this restaurant a go as we were in the area and was not disappointed!!. We had the set £28 meal and throughly enjoyed every course, the service was attentive but not intrusive. Would definitely recommend and will go back without hesitation.

Booked at the last minute and was extremely pleased with both the service and the quality of the food. The staff were all very attentive. It does close at 21:00 during the week but definitely worth a visit.

Visited for a meal for the start of my birthday celebrations! Lovely welcome, good was delicious and service was great. Nice atmosphere and not too crowded. Just a lovely experience and a special treat for my birthday!

Menú previo al teatro a las 17:00 el sábado 1/2/2020. El servicio fue atento y servicial sin ser molesto y consciente de nuestra limitación de tiempo. El menú del teatro es breve pero interesante, lo que le hace elegir cosas que quizás no haya tomado del menú completo a la carta, pero todo lo que teníamos era interesante y delicioso. 5/6 por lado más un 12. El cargo por servicio del 5% no es un problema si lo sabes antes de ir. No es barato en general, ¡pero solo lea las reseñas de otros restaurantes y mírelo como una póliza de seguro para una gran experiencia! Definitivamente iré de nuevo.

Very good restaurant. I cloud enjoy British traditional dishes. It was pity that the Sunday roast was served until 5PM.

We had the 3 course set menu with a free cocktail for £29. The food was delicious though the main course portion was on the small side. The wine is expensive starting at £30 a bottle and with service and coffee we paid £55 each.

My partner and I chose this restaurant on the recommendation of a fellow vegan as we were celebrating my birthday. Really impressed at the effort gone into the plant based menu. We had the 3 course pre theatre option and everything about the place was great, service just right not over the top but attentive, nice ambience. My starter of miso cabbage was delicious however my main course of "swede cake" a little bit underwhelming. This however was completely forgiven when our desserts arrived, I had the pear and ginger cake with custard and it was unbelievable! So good! It would be my death row meal. My partner had the "chouxnut" and agreed it was the best pudding he had ever had. Recommend this place whole heartedly.

Nunca suelo escribir críticas, pero este lugar lo merecía. Esta es la peor comida que he comido en un restaurante y el servicio fue increíblemente decepcionante. Entrante tibio, plato principal de carne graso y sin inspiración, chips grasosos, pudín pesado y enfermizo dulce más tibio con salsa fría de crema pastelera. Todo esto, junto con una música terrible y ruidosa, me hizo querer irme rápido. El camarero parecía indiferente de que no terminara mi plato principal y pudin y estaba feliz de tomar mi tarjeta de crédito a pesar de que le hice saber lo terrible que había sido la comida aparte del entrante. Evita este lugar, ¡tantos otros lugares encantadores en Londres por la mitad de precio!

We had a pre-opera meal. The food was excllent in a not trying to ram its cleverness down your throat style, good and reasonably priced wines and nice service.

We went here for the vegan tasting menu. The food was beautifully presented but we found it bland and the wines on the wine flight weren't anything special, either. Only the pre-dessert, made of variations on the apple, and the dessert, a coco/carrot cake concoction, were truly delicious. Service was mixed - some warm and confident people and some stiff and awkward ones.

No había encontrado tiempo para escribir una crítica antes, pero había notado algunas críticas bastante malas en diciembre, aunque las del Año Nuevo reflejan más nuestra experiencia. Reservamos una comida a mediados de diciembre para celebrar un cumpleaños. Este último fue un domingo, por lo que después de los entrantes fue principalmente asado para el principal. La comida era deliciosa, muy bien cocinada y bien presentada (en cuanto a las patatas asadas ... sublime). Como familia, hemos comido en todo tipo de restaurantes (en todo el mundo) desde 3 * Michelin hasta el café de la esquina y, con suerte, juzgamos a todos de manera justa por sus méritos. En nuestra experiencia, el Tredwell fue excepcional y con una buena relación calidad-precio dada la calidad de la cocina (que felicitamos al chef antes de irnos).

We just had dinner to celebrate our anniversary, we went for the tasting menu, such a good experience, good service and nice food, convenient location, easy to book, in the end we got little chocolate treats in a plate written “happy anniversary “. We will definitely come back!

Our final meal of our UK2019 trip and we chose Tredwells, this was a choice we did not regret. We wanted something good but not at star level, something fitting for our final evening in the UK.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Loved the focus on sustainably sourced food.

Booked for a pre theatre meal on the 14th December, food and service superb - Christmas sprouts, delicious! Could have eaten a bucket full! Highly recommend.

Friday night out and first time to visit Tredwells…

Had the Pre Theatre menu. Great value and lovely food. Service was excellent.

Started out great, food excellent, but service turned very poor very quickly. No one ever checked back after food was delivered, we never had the chance to order wine for dinner, our water was never refilled. Ruined the meal.

Absolutely first class. The tasting menu is excellent and the wine pairing works brilliantly. Service is unobtrusive and efficient and the atmosphere is great. This is an excellent restaurant with outstanding food. A truly remarkable dining experience.

Running late for a pre-show dinner (snarled in terrible London New Years parade traffic & many road blocks) - I called the restaurant and they were so nice. Understanding. Held the table. Made sure we had a full lovely 3 course Pre-show dinner without feeling at all rushed.

Second visit here and whilst the service was attentive without being intrusive, the food was good without being great. There are probably better restaurants for the money in London to be honest

Visited on a Sunday evening as a group of 5 adults and 2 children.

Wonderful decor that fits with the modern british cooking style. Love that they source locally and try to minimize food waste. Food was fresh and not fussy.

We are huge fans of Marcus at The Berkeley, our favourite restaurant and have been to Tredwells a few times mainly pre theatre and loved it.

We are higecfans of Marcus at The Berkeley and have been to Tredwells a few times pre theatre and loved it. OMG what has happened? Uninspiring menu, short staffed and restaurant full of very young kids with parents reminiscent of McDonalds party. Hanger steak fatty Both uo all night with tummy ache. Marcus please check it out quick. Such a shame.

Some really nice dishes..... Halibut, steaks, trout, truffeld mac n cheese, cold beef salad, chicken ravioli in smoked broth etc... One or two not so good with overcooked hake.. Some of the side orders were not so good either. The broccoli with the walnut sauce was not really very nice and the blackened spouts were only just OK. Lovely chips! Service was not good...slow and a bit erratic. One server seemed to be having a very bad day - not really doing anything right.

Waiter and hosts were fabulous meeting everyone detail. Food very good.

A good restaurant with menus for a range of needs, pre theatre, fixed cost or menu choices. For central London it offers a lower cost than many other restaurants while maintaining a high standard.

The decor and layout isn't anything special but the atmosphere is fun helped by lively, friendly staff who have the time to chat. The food was excellent and far more filling than you'd expect.

Promises more than it delivers. OK food but nothing special service rather patchy and seemed to lack direction.

Full marks!! Great location & the staff were just marvellous. Thanks to the barman for the complimentary Gin Giblet.
