The most gorgeous fish & chips ever!! All fresh and cooked to perfection! Long queue, but we know why now….its that popular! You don’t mind waiting for beautiful food like that! We will be back x

Fish was very nice. Chips were more than needed (nice) but undercooked (my preference, I like crispy chips but apparently they don't do. Could not taste the vinegar and salt. Friends' fish cakes were nice. Very friendly staff, very very busy.

Normally it's lush here but yesterday it was horrible chips were horrible and my vegetarian burger was the worst I've had anywhere in forever shame but it was that bad i5s really put me off won't be back in a hurry

We were camping close by and after putting the tent up we wanted a quick easy dinner. At Trawlers Catch we received large portions and very fresh food. Cod, Battered Sausage and Chips all very nice and filling. Our order was taken straight away and as soon as it was cooked, it was wrapped up for us to take back to the campsite. Priced very reasonable and will certainly be returning if in the area again.

We ordered the large size serving of cod which was a generous piece. Really golden and crunchy batter and juicy fish. Two thumbs up.

Popped in to Saxmundham from the local caravan park on a Monday night. Ordered ourselves 1x rock 1x skate and enough chips for two. Comes to a total of £17.50 ,but the reviews say its the best so.......... ..............well dear reader all I can say is that for the price paid we were both underwhelmed with how small the portions are in this part of the world. Both pieces of fish were very nice but a tad small for what we paid as were the chips. We live in an area that is just a small town miles from any fishing ports ,but our fish and chips portions are much bigger than you get here for the same price. Don't get me wrong the food here is fine but I think its portions are geared toward the visitors from the local caravan site (we did spill the beans when we ordered that we were here on our Sun holiday).My advice for anyone is to tell the girls behind the counter that you are lottery winners that have just moved to the area and you will be using Trawlers Catch as your default takeaway. You might get your point across So, the fish and chips were fine, the staff were very nice, but some where between ordering and returning ten minutes later to pick up we fell into a bit of a tourist thing that I hope their regulars don't encounter. Our neighbours used to have a caravan at the said caravan site and said they used this place on a weekly basis and never had cause to complain so........... MadDogs says"Win That Lottery" !!!!

These are the best fish and chips around. The staff are very friendly and always seem grateful for your custom.

On a weekend break and after a trip to Southwold we decided to pick up some chips to take back to our caravan. Once back and we unwrapped them we we’re hugely disappointed. They were dry, warm and inedible. They went straight in the bin. They had obviously been left for a while, not fresh at all.

Well that was a complete let down. Went in Saturday lunchtime, ordered large cod and large chips. Got home a 10 min drive away to find chips soggy and stone cold, and no there was no vinegar on them. The cod was passable at best. A waste of money and waste of time that won't be repeated. Can't believe the place is as busy as I've seen it in the past.

We travel from Halesworth for this chippy, best in the area and never had any issues. Call the order through and its ready to collect when we arrive no fuss no waiting.

Just moved into the area, wanted fish'n'chips on a Friday so bought 2 lots of cod and chips. The cod was the worst tasting meal we have ever had in our lives: it tasted of beef, as if it had been cooked in lard or dripping! We have not been back.

Not much to say really other than after arriving in the town after a long journey, rather than cook we all fancied sausage in batter and chips back at the caravan. When we got back the chips and sausages were so dried up and hard they must have been lunchtime's re-heated. Everything went in the bin. Would never go there again.

Arrived early evening few people quewing outside who had ordered and waiting given a ticket with an order number on thier was no sequence off orders people getting food bofore others who been waiting i had to wait 25 mins and others who.turned up after me got thier orders and left loads off staff but seamed to be overwelmed very very expensive and just avarage quality fish and chips they need to get thier act together

A great meal and such lovely staff. We did not realise it was cash only and mY husband did not have enough cash on him and they gave him our meal anyway, which was so generous. Fish was delicious! Great service - thank you Would highly recommend

good honest fish and chips that; as locals, we use frequently and have done for many years. fresh local fish and local potatoes for the chips from a farmer that i know (keeble).

Have used Trawlers Catch for a lot of years. So easy to order in advance. I have used them several times during lockdown. The staff on the telephone take the orders efficiently and never have we had an incorrect order. You give them a time to collect and the order is ready. Best fish and chips in the area.

Whenever we steal away a trip in our caravan to Suffolk, we always visit this shop for an evening treat meal. Very good quality food and would always recommend it to people who are visiting Saxmundham. However, our more recent visit, having boasted of its excellence to family and friends that we met up with at a Darsham Campsite, when we got back to our caravan with the 10 x person order, two of them were incomplete in as much to say, the two bburgers in a bun with chis, were just 'Burgers', no bun, no salad, just the burgers!? Going back was not really an option because of the near closing time and also the distance drive between Darsham and Saxmundham, as i say, a big shame because we had really spoken highly of your service and quality. Please make sure that when someone orders Burgers in Buns with salad, that it comes with a Bun and Salad!

Popped in to order cod, chips and mushy peas for 2. Cooked from scratch while i waited outside. Absolutely fantastic meal when gir home . Reasonably priced. Very clean. Cash only.

Very well organised and good service. Loved the batter on the fish - not greasy and light. Large portions and great chips.

The fish is fresh and cooked as it should be together with excellent chips. A classic combination and delicious, recommended.

Everything you’d want from a decent chippy. Not as nice as Aldeburgh but still really good. The Stokes tomato ketchup they sell in there is to die for.

Ordered Haddock and chips and Rock Eel and chips - both excellent. You give your order, take a ticket and come back after about 10 minutes (enough time for a pint) and it's ready to take away!

Such a lovely place staff are friendly and considerate didn't have to wait long on a busy friday night especially during the summer holidays at their busiest time fish was so fresh batter was lovely and crispy chips were lovely aswell we had a big order all of our food was cooked to orderDefinitely recommend this place over the other one in saxmundham

Just got to Saxmundham for a short trip, arrived here just after closing. The two guys behind counter were amazing, served us still and the most friendly guys!! Food was excellent. A credit to the company. Will definitely be back while we are here.

Often have lunch deal of fish and chips which is great value. I always ask for the skin to be taken off which is never a problem even when busy.

Visited Trawlers a catch this evening. We waited 40 minutes for an order that did not materialise. When we quesyioned the wait time we were told our order would be ready soon. More people came and went. We asked again and it transpired order had gone missing. It was prepared immediately, but no real apology - just a shame really

This is my local Fish and Chip restaurant, always good quality.. Fun staff too. Called in a few days ago as they were closing up, and had stopped serving, the head fryer had a portion of chips put by, he offered them to us free of charge & threw in a battered sausage too as my Son's bottom lip had hit the floor. A lovely kind gesture greatly appreciated Thank you ..

Really good food if you get fresh chips and the fish is always cooked to order which is a bonus. Hope they keep open as the new supermarkets seem to be putting a squeeze on the small town which is a shame.

Chips tasted as if they had been kept hot for too long. Soggy and not nice at all. I asked for a medium haddock....if that size of fish is a medium then the small portion must be minute! Not good. Wish we had gone elsewhere.

Fancied some chips for lunch with some work colleagues.Ordered just a portion of chips.had to wait about 10 minutes but didn't mind as I thought they would be lovely and fresh! Had them wrapped and off to the park we went! When I opened them they looked like yesterday's chips and tasted like it too!! Awful! It had been several months since I had anything from here and the last time I had cod and chips and the chips were just "bits" and overdone and the cod was full of bones! But I thought maybe things might have improved but no it hasn't so I won't be returning! I'll take my money elsewhere!

We have a caravan holiday home nearby and always have fish and chips from Trawlers Catch while we are in Saxmundham. Very good quality fish and chips. Staff are very friendly. Recommended.

Fish was really good, not oily at all and the batter wasn't soggy. Nice chips. Would be even better if there had been somewhere to sit and eat though.

We were staying locally and decided to try this venue and we were not disappointed the fish and chips were excellent best we have tasted from a chippy in years, nice batter and lovely succulent white fish.

We visited the area for Christmas, this chip shop was just up the road from where we were staying. very friendly staff definitely worth a visit, the food was piping hot and delicious.

We go here every Friday and can honestly say it's the best chip shop around here You might be in for a bit of a wait but it's all cooked fresh

We have visited twice this week. Love this place. Prices very reasonable, scampi and chips very tasty. Good range of stokes sauces. We were given a large bag of chips for free. Would definitely recommend.

Visited here on a Thursday early evening and can only assume the chips were left over from lunch and reheated, they were awful with absolutely no taste and tough on the outside, I only had chips but chose to leave them rather than continue eating them, they were that bad. My husband had Pie and chips and agreed the chips were bad and the Pie was ok, you can't go too wrong in heating up a ready made Pie though.

Me encanta lugares como esta! revisar Estábamos atravesando Saxmundham un viernes por la noche en el comienzo de nuestras vacaciones. Como era la hora de la cena, decidimos probar este lugar porque tenía buenas críticas. Y estamos contentos de haberlo hecho! Una corta espera para el pescado y cocinar a la orden, pero sólo duró unos pocos minutos. El abadejo era delicioso, firme y fresco con pasta perfecta. Las patatas fritas tenía un sabor maravilloso sugerir dos cosas - que cuiden a seleccionar patatas de calidad, y que el uso limpio y de buena calidad. Una alegría para comer. Uno de los mejores que he estado chippies.

Como en el título fácilmente el mejor pescado y patatas fritas en el área, superar todas las competencia local por calidad y porciones de tamaños de manos.

Me fui la última en abril de 2017 Sábado, 29. Teníamos dos tamaño cod (tienen una elección, curiosamente, de tamaño medio o grande), uno scampi, una porción de patatas fritas y una guisantes blandos. El pescado estaba cocinado a la perfección y en realidad toqué el Arrastrero de Catch para ellos complementan. Hubo diez gambas, que es más de lo que otros ofrecen tiendas de pescado frito con patatas fritas. Había suficientes fichas en la parte tres de nosotros y el total era sólo de 15 libras.

Rápido y amable siempre los viernes que está ocupada, pero yo, m sirve siempre rápidamente y la comida es fresca y caliente

Food is always great yummy fish and chips can't beat them! And pleasant service too. Make sure you stop in for local fish n chips

We have take away fish and chips a lot from the Trawler's and we love them. We have never had a bad meal and they are very generous portions!

Takeaway for five on 03/12/2016, most recent of numerous visits. Ordered 3x Cod, 1x Scampi and 1x Plaice. Chip portions are generous here so we shared three between the five of us (and still had about half a portion left over).This place is fish and chips done right. It's not a local one to us (sadly) but we try to get them from here whenever in the area and it puts our local ones to shame. Great food every time and the staff are always friendly. Can sometimes have a long wait but more than worth it for the fresh cooked food.

I had haddock and chips , and it was excellent . I live in London and have tried lots of places but I would only recommend a couple . The best is from The Magpie in Whitby . The haddock was firm and fresh , really good . The batter was just thick enough , and crunchy . The chips tasted fresh , and there was plenty of them . What a find :)

I recently went here for fish & chips tasted great but I thought the chip portion was a bit on the small size.. So not great value for money

Doesn't quite reach the heights of the smaller of the two chippies in Aldeburgh but not far off. The fish is usually fresh, white, flaky, thick flesh, and the batter crisp and not too heavy. The chips are best when it's not new potato season but generally good year round. Can get busy between 5 and 6 and don't go too early to ensure you get the fresh batch of chips not lunchtime's. There's a good choice for those who don't want fish (including nuggets and scampi for the kids). Generally very good...

Have had haddock and chips here plenty of times fish is always fresh and cooked perfect if your ever in the area try it !!!!

Good fish and chips with no complaints, a touch on the costly side but you get good portions so it evens itself out really.Awful mushy peas tasted of a vinegar/water mix and the Suffolk trend of closing early at 8:30 on a weekend is crazy.

We went to the chip shop today and ordered a child fish bites with chips and gravy I must say the gravy tasted like water, the fish bites certainly not fresh and had all skin in them, they did not look appealing either and the batter was hard, the chips looked like they were left overs from last night and re heated. The sausage was nice but full of grease. We had two pieces of cod this was very dry and defiantly was not fresh at all. This was a shame as I was really looking forward to fish and chips but not from here again.

We come here regularly they are great fish and chips!! This is definitely one of my most favourite fish and chip shops. Service is quick and the staff are very polite and helpful

The food is much better there then the other chip selling places in the local area Infact I will go to other places for stuff they don't sell but go there for the rest of the order

Two medium haddock (haddi?) and a medium chips for a tenner. Delicious. Polite staff, clean premises. Easy Peasy to find - drive through the village, you can't miss it.

Forget Aldeburgh try the trawlers catch it serves good value quality fish and chips with that real fresh seaside side taste plus good size portions

This is by far the best chippie around this area. The fish is always chunky and the portions very generous. Don't bother to queue in Aldeburgh. Just drive to sax. Better quality, cheaper and quicker.

We always buy our fish and chips from here. Service is quick. Portions are well worth the money (get more than you pay for), food is fresh and the staff are polite.

We have visited this chippie several times when on holiday in the are as it tends to be less busy than those in more prominent locations and is also better value. They do great kids meals with great chips and delicious fish. We always take away and either eat by the sea or in the forest. Perfect holiday grub.

After being recommend by a friend I thought I would give this place a try the sausages were lovely but I am afraid the chips were awful they tasted so dry could not eat them at all. Staff were polite and premises very clean

Only used a couple of times, but on both occasions the batter has been crispy and the chips tasty. Dare I say it but it was as nice if not slightly better Than the chippy at Aldeburgh. The fish looks and tastes nice and fresh and the batter isn't soggy and heavy. The chips are fluffy with a nice light crunch to them. It is at the end of the day fish and chips. But they are very good.

We live in Saxmundham and have NEVER had better fish and chips anywhere else. Service is fantastic and fish and chips are amazing. Recommend people to try the plaice. Long may they continue to produce such first class meals. Well done!! Jane & Peter Billington

The needed. Fish n chippy is convenient,. The staff are polite, hard working and try to help - however, the fish and chips give me slight heart-burn! So, Rennies or the like is usually purchased around the same time I treat myself to a fish meal..Now, this is just ME , other people may be fine, so please try the fresh, well portioned sizes of their fish, sausages etc...The chips are getting better.

Went to Aldeburgh for fish +chips but the queues were ridiculous. Decided to try Saxmundham - good choice. The portions were enormous, the fish was beautiful, fresh and flaky with crispy batter and the chips were crisp and dry. Yummy.

This was a great find. The fish was cooked to order so expect a little wait, however it was so fresh and hot it was more than worth waiting for. Batter crisp and not oily. Chips well cooked. The owner was very helpful, even treated us to a potato scallop while we waited which was gorgeous. This will be one place we will return to when in this area. Highly recommended.

Fantatsic little fish and chip shop.... we tried the famous shops of nearby aldeburgh on our recent holiday to be left very disappointed indeed so before we left we decided to give this place a try.... just how fish and chips should be and barely any grease insight give it a go!

Extremely good fish and chips, the portions are large so make sure you are really hungry so as not to waste any.

I often go to Trawlers Catch with my family. The food is always great tasting and fresh regardless of what time of day you visit (lunch and evening opening).The fish is always very fresh tasting and the chips are lovely, not too greasy like at some chippys.Never have to wait very long, staff are always very friendly.

I first went to this chip shop when i first moved to suffolk. The portions of chips are big and well worth the money (not expensive)

It's only a small take away, but the fish and chips were excellent. Fortunately, there were some benches nearby, so we didn't need to sit in our car to eat them. Had the medium chips; more than even I could manage. Also, had a large cod; the medium cod was quite big as well. The fish was cooked to order, so we had to wait a while, but it was worth it.Crispy batter and non greasy chips; what more could you ask for? When I said I was eating them now, the server asked if I wanted some paper to rest them on, as they were so hot; that's good service for you.Next time we visit Minsmere for the bird watching, we will be going back to this chippy. Probably just as good as Aldeburgh (which is not too far away).

Have been using this for years. It has recently changed ownership but the staff and food remain the same. Reasonably well priced, big portions and consistently good year-in, year-out. Far better than the "popular" ones in Southwold and the like. Our favourite chip shop in England.

The Trawler's Catch is quite popular. We did not have to wait too long for the food and it was cooked freshly, but it was just average, nothing more.

Good fresh fish and chips.Queues can be quite long but there's a well organised system for serving.

I have had Fish and Chips from here on several occasions. The fish was prepared to order (and you have to wait a few minutes) but they were the most succulent fishes (haddock and plaice) that I have had - the fillets of fish just peeled off on my fork, and melted in my mouth. The chips were good, and certainly complemented my fish supper. The staff here were polite and professional, and I would defiantly have no hesitation in recommending people to eat here. I would place it on parr with the Fish and Chips from Aldeburgh.
