We had been let down by the eateries at Banham Zoo and decide to pop in Trawlers Catch and are so glad we did. They offer a variety of other foods not just fish and chips. The guys that served as were very pleasant. We had a large haddock, small battered sausage and a large portion of chips to share. It was all cooked fresh and when it came to serving it up we were asked if we were sharing the chips and the gentleman kindly split them for us. The chips were lovely and the batter nice and light not greasy like some. Enjoyed the food immensely and the cost was reasonable too.

I don’t know why people haven’t bothered to review this recently, me and my wife went last night and we found the staff to be friendly and the food to be good, I’m a big bloke and found the quantity more than fair for the price paid We are stopping at a site opposite and look at using this all week as they do fresh made pizza and kebabs This place was reasonably busy with locals and campers alike which is always a good sign too

Reading some of the last reviews I should have stayed clear but as this place is nearest to me I had to try it out. Glad I did because the chicken shish kebab was really tasty, salad fresh and crisp and the sauces good. My son had a large chips with sausage and chips were brilliant - not soggy and warmed up. I will be going back to try their other fare. Their website is appalling and broken, menus not posted the right way up etc but I cannot knock points off for that.

This is one kebab shop to avoid at all costs !!!!!! 🤣⛔️⛔️⛔️ As it is the only fast food shop in town they believe they can talk you anyway they like and abuse their customers and this was the manager of the shop!!!!! The food is very poor quality chips not cooked properly and we didn’t even attempt to eat the kebab as it looked raw Shop only take cash…. Inland revenue take a look this is 2021 not 2001 Choice between toast and this place go toast or wait until the morning This is a warning to all brits don’t waste your money at this place

This place used to serve the best fish and chips, but the last couple of times I had thought the chips seemed like they were left overs re heated. This time as soon as I unwrapped them it was obvious. Half the chips were very dark in colour and hard and dry. No way were they all cooked at the same time. I ate all the fish but only a few of the lighter coloured chips. Within minutes of finishing I began to feel sick. I had really bad tummy pains and the runs and alternating between being hot and cold and shivery. This lasted several hours. Obviously food poisoning. Definitely not using this place again.

Cash only and has to wait over half an hour after placing the order. All phone orders took priority over the large queue waiting outside. Shame really as the chips were delicious.

should be more safety aware, in the times we are in, no face mask, only takes cash, no screens, these things would make older people feel more relaxed

Me and my family go regularly. Always good value and good food. Have not had Kebab always getting a fish supper. Staff always friendly. I don't recognise the poor reviews because it's always been good.

Went in the Trawlers Catch tonight for the first time. I asked at the counter if the restaurant was open. Yes was the answer and the man gestured for me to go in. I was on my own I need to say. After 15 minutes of no one coming in I went to the count to ask if I was going to be served, only to be told that people order and pay at the counter and are then allow to eat their food in the restaurant. I was furious at no time did they mention this and left me to look like a lemon sitting alone in their restaurant. If I ha d been prompted to do this I would have ordered first. He then said there is a sign on the door well this sign is not very clear, and they lost a customer as I walked out.

Visited this takeaway while staying on the campsite across the road. We had the southern fried chicken with chips & little one had nuggets & chips. It also had pizzas, kebabs. Great place

I was there mid-week so that might have made a difference to the quality of the chips. Tasty fresh fried fish but disappointing chips

A family of 4, we arrived without booking, on a sunny weekend lunchtime. It was clear the place was very busy, but we were greeted by the assistant manageress Nicola, who despite being busy, was charming and helpful - finding a table to which she showed us. We waited quite a while and eventually I went to the bar to ask for some service. The waitress who turned up was the opposite of Nicola; treating us as though we were an inconvenience and she had 'drawn the short straw' in having to take our order. This wasn't just my opinion, and was commented upon by my daughter & wife. She really is in the wrong job...... Even allowing for how busy it was, over half an hour later I needed to chase our meals because we had an appointment that afternoon. The waitress had ignored us since taking our order and I went to seek out Nicola. Again, she was friendly & helpful, coming back with an E.T.A. of 3 minutes. And she was spot on. The food was superb. We all thought how excellent is was. I just wish we had time for dessert, but due to the delay that was a pleasure we had to forego. So, if you are a 'foodie' this really is the place for you. If you place service high on your list, you will be taking 'pot luck' as to who you get and may be very disappointed. Such a shame for such a lovely establishment.

Feedback for Room 1 in this hotel. Pros: Quick check-in Big room Comfy bed (even though there was folded cardboard beneath the legs of the bed) Nice view out of window Friendly staff (mostly) Breakfast buffet + cooked breakfast was delicious Cons: Very dated decor in general Mouldy dead wood on the window ledge TV smart features do not work Dodgy key lock Plumbing issues (temperature of shower does not regulate) Damaged pipes in bathroom No window left open for my arrival (scorching hot day) HEATING WAS ON FULL when I arrived No 3 pin sockets beside bed! Not good for people with Sleep Apnoea I really feel like this place rests on its laurels somewhat, given Thetford is the home of Dad's Army, with the Bell (Greene King) hosting the Dad's Army cast in the late 60s and 70s. I think Greene King know this and assume guests won't care - but we do. I liked the Dad's Army touch in and around the pub. However, overall, not great value for money in my opinion.

Lovely, genuine old thatched pub, with lovely staff. The food could not be faulted and the portions were more than generous. Definitely intend to return.

Staff with bad attitude!! Rang up around 5:30pm and were told we didn’t need to book we would be fine as a walk in as we weren't sure exactly what time we would get there. We arrived to be told there is a long wait for food, ordered 4 Pepsi’s which were all flat, we complained and the waitress never returned, she told us that there were 3 food items were unavailable on the menu, 30 minutes had passed so I went to the bar to swap my drink, got given another flat one so asked for a bottle out the fridge. We had waited at the table for over an hour for the waitress to come back to us to finally take our order to tell us that there were only 4 options left and they had ran out of food. We chose to leave, they wanted payment for the 4 flat Pepsi’s (only one got replaced) which we refused as we had waited for over an hour (9:30pm by this point) to be told there was no food, we raised the issue to be given attitude by two ladies behind the bar, they said ‘they need to prioritise bookings first’, surely you take orders in the order people arrive?? even though they told us we could walk in no problem and never thought to tell us the food had ran out during the time we were waiting, we were so hungry from being at the race track all day. The table next to us had half of their order missing and were still sat waiting for the rest of their food when we left. Awful, thank god we’re not locals!
