We visit the chippy quite a bit and I forget to write a review. This is our go to chippy for our takeout, the service is excellent the young lady with glasses is friendly and so polite always has a smile. The fryer man is always friendly and happy. Now the food: I’ve never had a bad meal always freshly cooked and plenty of choice. The chips are lovely and not too greasy and the fish is my favourite. I’d definitely recommend.

Used to use this chippy all the time as it was the best in the area, however, past 2 occasions have been let down by soggy chips and shrunken cod, will not be using again as the quality has dropped badly and the prices are rising to amazing heights, a meal for 2 cost us £22..WOW!!!! and half was thrown away...sorry but the truth

Be careful not to order direct from the board, checkout the meal deals first! It can add on as much as £6!! Not sure why but we used to love the food, now it’s a bit tasteless? Moving on to a different chippy

Possibly the best fish and chips I’ve ever had! Chunky fish, fabulous chips, mushy peas. Freshly cooked, hardly any waiting time.

We arrived at about 5:30, no one else in the shop. That's not good, I thought, but I was wrong. We placed our order - fish and chips three times. Both the fish and the chips had already gone in to cook (telepathy ?). We got them hot and fresh (and still hot when we got back to the campsite ten minutes later). By the time we left there was a queue in the shop and outside, no wonder.

As a large family and friend group camping locally we wanted to pre-order! Elias the owner was so friendly and helpful! I organised a time a arrived and everything was ready! 19 meals and nothing missed! The food was hot and fresh and delicious! Definitely a go to place for your take away!

Holidaying in the area and wanted fish & chips overlooking the sea with my family. Searched for local fish and chip takeaways and saw the great reviews on here so gave it a go. It was freshly cooked to order when I walked in and the fish and chips were some of the nicest I have had.

Been going there for 4 yrs now but noticed that the fish and chips have gone downhill. The fish batter is soggy and sticks to wrapper and the chips are oh so dry like cardboard. Not gud value. Won’t go again.

Trawlers is a gem. Once you sample their fish and chips you will go out your way to return as I do. Food is outstanding and the owner is passionate and more importantly fantastic at creating wonderful fish and chips.

Had a fantastically take away meals from Trawlers Abergele last night. My wife & I and our Grandson had Fish (Cod) & Chips with mushy peas for tea last night. The meal was absolutely delicious, mouth wateringly good! Thoroughly recommend this outlet.

Try to call in at least once a week for 2 X haddocks, large chips and peas. The batter is always light and crispy, and fish only cooked when ordered. Best chippy in the area by a mile.

We stopped here on way to visit family in a caravan in Abergele :) it was lovely and had a really nice tea from there :) The staff were lovely and the environment was really clean and tidy. We always go to the Trawlers when we want fish and chips. They never disappoint. Excellent service even when they are busy.

Drove here as close to the caravan park we are staying on and it seemed to be busy on driving past earlier in the evening. The place was immaculate inside and has a 5 star hygiene rating. We did only order two portions of large chips that was fried fresh and was a reasonable price.They do only sell basic food such as fish, sausage, pies and of course chips so worth a try if you like an English meal.

I picked up fish,scampi and chips last night for my Dad and I it was utter rubbish The fish wasn’t cooked , the scampi wasn’t cooked in the middle and low and behold the chips weren’t cooked either . I called the shop to be told it was new potatoes which meant it was hard to cook them but when I asked why the fish wasn’t cooked there was no explanation Don’t go

Always use this chip shop. All items freshly cooked and excellent quality. Friendly welcome too. Haddock one of our favourites and the cod fish bites get the thumbs up too! Free parking available outside.

Called in just after 8pm closing time but was welcomed cheerfully. Waited for the fish to be freshly cooked and the wait was justified as the fish were just perfect. Looked at the menu whilst waiting, there was quite a good variety including some vegetarian options.

Called to order 3xportion of chips with graveyard curry and plain chips and I was told to come and collect between 5,10 minutes. We went and no order was done just a massive queue .I found it a absolute joke.why tell you to come and collect it in 10 minutes when it wasnt even done.not happy it caused unnecessary problems.

Beautiful fish super size cooked fresh with thin crispy batter, chips non greasy all freshly cooked. Found out they have scallops had those, large thick slice in lovely batter again. Have revisited already. Highly recommend.

Had fish and chips and would only give it 3/5. Fish was supposed to be large but wasn’t. Tasted ok. Chip portion was a decent size but had no taste.

It's not often I buy fish and chips to take away and rarely are they this nice. Often one is nice the other isn't however Trawlers fish and chips are right on the money, beautiful flaky fish, crispy batter, wonderful chips all very tasty and cooked perfectly.

First visit to Trawlers whilst in Abergele. Good meaty fish, good fish to batter ratio, tasty chips, great curry sauce and mushy peas. No complaints.

Decided to give it another go after horrible fish & chips a few mths ago. Was lovely this time - feshly cooked & tasty. More like the old trawlers before it changed owners.

As an Abergele local I’m really not sure where this other Trawlers must be, because the one I go to almost every week is fab. Love the new owners batter (no greasier than any fish from a chippy) it’s nice and light, no oil/fat pouring out of it like the old owners!! The chips are just the same as they’ve always been. As for the fish not being cooked “fresh” I think I’ve only ever seen fish ready when the shop is empty on 1 or 2 occasions, and when I’ve asked “had it been busy?” the answer has always been “yes it’s just gone quiet”. You can’t please all of the people all of the time....but this chippy certainly pleases me.

This used to be a really good chippy. Havent been for many months but fancied fish & chips tonight. Thought it must have changed owners as nothing like it used to be. After reading reviews found that it has. Fish was small, chewy & not cooked fresh like it was before. Chips were overcooked & a lot were hard & stale tasting. Was really looking forward to my tea but didnt enjoy it at all. What a shame - wont be using again.

Haven't tried trawlers for about six months since being very dissatisfied on two occasions when fish was undercooked and had small piece of what seemed like fin still attached. Arriving home from Stockport on a Saturday evening we decided to give it a go to provide a quick meal. Absolutely dreadful. Trawlers always used to cook the fish fresh to order but on this occasion with no customers in the shop there were already six fish cooked. Result, cold fish soaked in grease and undercooked in places and cold disgusting looking chips the like I have not seen for many a day. Won't be back any time soon.

Omg. So greasy. Chips made me sick. Fish soggy. Dunno what else to say. How hard can it be to cook fish. It’s easy. So easy my nephew could do it.

This used to be the best chippy in the area, but it has recently gone rapidly down hill, the last time we got fish it tasted stale and the chips were under done, must say we were very disappointed

We have been going to Trawlers for a few years but today we called for fish and chips and when I saw the chips I immediately thought it was under new management. This was confirmed when I got home and read the recent reviews. The fish was good but the chips were awful. Very dry and tasteless!! We will not be returning but will go to the lovely chippy in Rhos on Sea instead.

Cheerful friendly service, fish put in the fryer as soon as ordered and chips being cooked at the same time. Result = lovely fresh fish and chips. The portions were so generous that one small portion of chips was sufficient for two people. The only gripe was that the batter could have been crisper.

I have been visiting the chip shop for years and always voted it excellent and the food was truly very good. Haven't been in some months for one reason and another and so this Wednesday on my way to Bala to work at about 6 pm I decided to call and just get chips to eat on the way. I waited more than twenty minutes and felt sorry for the one man serving whose been there a while. I noticed somebody new cooking and also many changes in the types of food being cooked but didn't realise it was under new ownership. When I finally got back to the car looking forward to my chips I was so so disappointed as they were dry and tasteless. I managed to eat a quarter of a large portion and that was it. My landlady where I stay in Bala fed them to the seagulls this morning and simply I think that's all they were worthy of. Won't be going there again. So so disappointed

Been going here for years and it was the best chip shop for miles we travelled here from Colwyn bay every week and we were never disappointed until now, unfortunately there are new owners and they seemed to have changed everything, nothing looks or tastes the same as it did- won't be going back again. The previous owner had all the recipes down to a tee, its a shame it's all been changed because the business was a great success and always busy.

Shop has changed hands about 2 months. Had 2 fish chips peas. Terrible. Were undercooked peas full of water fish was all greasy have been going to this shop over 5 years I will not be going back.

We used the 2015 Daily Post competition for the best fish and chip shop in North Wales as an inspiration for days out.We waited until having tried all ten contenders before posting any reviews.We had an afternoon visit to Pensarn Beach and stopped on our way home at Abergele to try Trawlers.The premises were spotlessly clean, with friendly efficient staff.When we called there was no queue, but everybody started turning up to order their choice of fish, which were freshly cooked to order rather than kept warm ready to go - so we all had to wait at least twenty minutes , but there were no complaints. The staff certainly seemed to enjoy working there, being very pleasant with the customers whilst quickly processing orders and wrapping up. We ordered one haddock, one cod, one portion of chips, one curry sauce, one peas, a large battered sausage and a fishcake.Our food was presented in cartons, well wrapped in paper. Forks were available at 5p.We were told we were given an extra fish as it was too small to sell - good customer relations !The haddock and the cod were absolutely enormous, thick fish, with delicious crispy batter, not at all greasy. With the bonus of an extra smaller fish, similarly nice, that was in truth almost as big as fish we paid for elsewhere. The chips were also a very generous portion, plenty of thickly cut, well cooked chips, not at all greasy, soggy or stuck together. The battered sausage, fishcake and mushy peas were fine. The curry sauce one of the best we tried. To sum up, Trawlers in Abergele was one of the best we experienced from the 2015 Daily Post Top 10 - possibly THE best. A very difficult judgement to make as the standard was extremely high - but definitely right up there with the very best. We noticed Trawlers are not in the 2016 Daily Post Top 10, for whatever reason.They should be ! Holidaying in the area and fancied fish and chips. Trawlers was enough route so stopped in. The staff were pleasant and the premises clean and tidy. The chips were OK, certainly not the worst we have been served in take aways but the fish was not great. I ordered the cod and to be honest I am not convinced that it was cod, however as it was over cooked it was impossible to say. The battered sausage was nice enough though and the price was reasonable.

The Best fish and chips around very helpful and polite staff can highly recommend to try will not be dissapointed
