Traditional fish and chips...fabulous! A homely little fish and chip restaurant, served promptly by friendly staff, great quality food at a reasonable price...we loved it x

Very very disappointed haddock and chips twice took away fish were very small and and thin, possibly the smallest i've had, last year they were very good but not now spent £24 wont be going again. Dont normaly gave reviews but so annoyed and feel ripped off

Very good gluten free menu, I found it difficult to find gluten free options in Llandudno and we found Barnacles and wow there menu was fantastic my daughter and I absolutely will call again each time we visit Llandudno. Staff were so friendly and food was very good. Thank you so much guys

I've had several meals here and it has a very good range of vegan and gluten free foods. Staff are very friendly and very accommodating for any dietary needs/restrictions. Good portion sizes and you can bring your dog inside with you while you eat. Would highly recommend you stop in and give them a go or at least get something from their chippy side if you don't have time to sit in

The gluten free menu looked interesting, but not every thing was available, as I am vegetarian as well, that means an even smaller choice. The waitress was very helpful and I chose 3 bean chili and rice. It was very tasty. My husband had pie and chips, another veg would have been appreciated.

Best sit in chippy in Llandudno. Really gorgeous food and quick service. HUGE vegan and GF menu (I went through a spell of veganism and this place was amazing!). Highly recommend, fresh food and good service.

We usually go here for a portion of chips when in llandudno in fact we went on the 4th March and they were still as tasty as ever good value for money and you get a lot tasty as ever would recommend.

The takeaway area is grotty, no doubt about it. Needs some money spent on it. No need to spend on the food though, the haddock and chips I ordered were the best I have tasted in Wales. Would have got 5 stars if the place looked more inviting.

This visit took place on a Tuesday afternoon in Feb25. The shop is located on the main shopping area, Mostyn St, in Llandudno and is easy to find by its canopy adjacent to the bus stop. It has two sides to the premises. One is a take out with seating outside and the other is a café style restaurant, with toilet. It is accessible via wheelchair and enough room to manoeuvre. I ordered chips, which are available by the bowl ! Service is quick and efficient and the order was cooked fresh. The chips were made from good quality, tasty potatoes, cooked in clean and hot oil. This made them come out golden brown yet still fluffy inside. They were delicious. No other food was bought as this was a mid afternoon snack. Drinks are also available, good variety of both alcoholic and non. The restaurant was clean, well kept and decorated with amazing enlarged photos of the local area of bygone times.

Good fish and chips, accepts cash only when we visited. Good portions.

The fish and chips was wonderful and my friend's baked potato was a whole plateful of things. The high point to me was the banana split which was first rate, my friend was very pleased with the novelty cow ice cream!

Can’t say it was bad but can’t say it was good, chips where a tiny bit undercooked but edable, I had haddock’s and the batter was ok and fish quality was ok. The only thing I would say was the food had a metallic taste to it u sure on the cause of this. 3 stars as it’s just below ok but nothing special at all

Expensive for portion size but good quality

Ate in, the young lady waiting on was excellent, and I think she was new. The food was a bit disappointing compared to other visits. The portion of mushy peas was insufficient to go with the rest of the meal. The batter on the cod was greasy, the spread on the bread was not butter, and the coffee was bitter. It would be better to offer cod, chips, mushy peas at a slightly reduced price rather than calling it a "supper" and charging the customer extra for poor quality add-ons which they probably don't really want.

£10 for the thinnest small piece of cod, it smelt fishy and the batter was really greasy... They only serve a small coffee £3 .... feel like I have been ripped off! Never again 😞 I think the eating area could benefit from a good clean to !

Our go to place for takeaway fish and chips in Llandudno. Not the prettiest or largest takeaway and can get busy.Have been many times and have had fresh cooked fish which is not greasy and tasty chips.Portions can vary as to who serves you,but never had a bad meal.Prices have increased ,but that's the case anywhere.

Good food,the only problem was the time,i have waited 20 min for someone to get my order plus another 30+35 minutes for food,the first waitress was a bit cold,with me she looks like she had enough that day, furthermore i had bigger expectations, knowing the reviews from website.

Great gluten fish and chips. The gluten free chips had a good colour to them at other chips they have looked anemic. We went twice during a weekend stay at Llandudno. Very good service too

Had a great traditional seaside fish and chip supper experience. The quality of the food was great, it was hot and tasty. The young waitress who looked after us was helpful, cheerful and really friendly.

Very disappointing visit having read many excellent reviews. There was a dog on the takeaway area on our arrival. We visited the restaurant for a meal and there was a couple inside with another dog. The waitress made a fuss of the dog patting and stroking it with both hands before returning to clear other tables without washing her hands. How can a food establishment achieve a 5 star hygiene rating to serve food with staff with this mentality? We left without making a purchase.

Amazing service from the guys at Barnacles. The fish & chips were fabulous too. Our dog even got a complimentary sausage! Would highly recommend.

Full vegan menu - fabulous! Barnacles chip shop in Llandudno remains one of my favourites! They have a full vegan menu and lovely staff, who are friendly and really know what they are doing. This time, I had the whopping great Moving Mountain Hot Dog, followed by a frangipani tart. Fabulous!

This was probably the worst meal ever! The cheese and leek quiche was tasteless slop, the chips were hard, lukewarm and full of black eyes. Lasagne was mainly pasta and very sloppy, sausages were cheap and poor quality. I didn’t eat mine but didn’t raise it with the staff as I was with family. The prices we were charged for such inferior food was outrageous, £11.95 and £10.50!! I would sreer clear!

Order fish chips .It came with out peas or bead and butter .This was at a extra cost ! The quality was only just acceptable .The total bill including a pot of tea was £31.00 .

What a fantastic Vegan menu to see in a chippy, I'm from a seaside town that has dozens of chippies and none of them have anywhere near this, the best we get is a pea fritter. After a long day walking around Llandudno, this menu was an amazing sight, we each had a Vegan Hot dog and we had a battered sausage and chips on the side. The moving mountains hotdogs were extremely good with onions, yellow mustard and ketchup. We both thought it was probably the best Vegan hotdog we'd ever had 😋 As for the battered sausage it was lovely with a light batter and cooked perfectly, my wife isn't a huge fan of it but I loved it.

Curry .. patatas fritas harina de arroz ok. amigo dijo que había tenido mejor pescado y patatas fritas en llandudno. el inconveniente para mí era que nunca vi a nadie limpiar una mesa. eran migas en el asiento donde me senté cerca también. las mesas no parecían demasiado limpias. no me gustaría ir de nuevo. lo siento. voy aquí y allá y verlos limpio mesas. he limpiado mesas yo mismo como un trabajo .. pero siempre recogía ollas y limpiaba la mesa. de inmediato.

Of the various fish & chips I tried during my stay in Wales, this is the one that disappointed me. I wasn't crazy about the quality of the product.

Esposo y yo fuimos dentro de este café para nuestro almuerzo de ayer por la tarde (miércoles). Es servicio de mesa pero hay que ir al mostrador a pagar. La camarera era servicial. Esposo disfrutó de sus 2 huevos n chips. Me gustaron mis papas fritas de lasaña. Las patatas fritas eran gruesas y crujientes. ¡La lasaña era ligeramente grasienta debido a su generosa cobertura de queso! Ambas comidas eran realmente calientes, lo que hace un cambio bienvenido en estos días. Teníamos una olla de té más una olla de agua caliente, así que pudimos tomar 2 bebidas cada uno. Nuestro almuerzo llegó a un total de £ 25. 55 (pagos con tarjeta aceptada) que es un poco más de lo que nos gusta pagar habitualmente, pero en general estábamos satisfechos con todo. Los baños separados masculino y femenino están en el extremo más alejado de la cafetería.

Tuve que venir a trip advisor para calificar nuestra excelente visita a Barnacles ayer, mientras que en Llandudno. Había buscado gluten - pescado con papas fritas gratis de antemano ya que mis dos hijos son celiacos. Nuestra visita no decepcionó! Cinco de nosotros (más perro) entramos en la parte de la cafetería de la tienda de pescado y patatas fritas y fueron cálidamente recibidos por la camarera que trajo menús. Había una gran selección de gluten - comida libre en el menú, que era genial y la camarera explicó acerca de freidoras separadas / reducir la contaminación cruzada. Pedimos nuestra comida (incluyendo una salchicha para el perro). Un tazón de agua fue traído para nuestro perro y las cinco comidas salieron rápidamente. Todos estaban deliciosos. Nosotros los consumidores de gluten tuvimos especiales de bacalao (bacalao rebozado, patatas fritas, guisantes humectantes, pan, mantequilla y una bebida) y mis hijos tenían gluten - nuggets libres, patatas fritas y curry y bacalao rebozado, patatas fritas y curry (con gluten - vinagre libre también). Mi hija no podía comer todo el suyo y le preguntamos si se podía encajonar para llevar a casa y esto no se hizo ningún problema. No puedo recomendar este lugar lo suficientemente alto. Una delicia sin gluten para mis hijos y también una experiencia fantástica para el resto de nosotros. Muy recomendable 👌

I've been to barnacles several times before. Prices have gone up extortionately. Ordered veggie hot pot @ £9.95 which then appeared on the bill as £12.95 because apparently i hadn't specified gluten free which was very confusing and unfair. Challenged this but was informed that the higher price would still be charged. Lack of transparency and clarity over prices. Customer service also poor won't be returning. Not value for money.

Portion size is a little small but the chips were lovely and although the fish was a decent size it was a little greasy. Gluten free choices were absolutely spot on. Worth a look

Googled this area for something to eat. Barnacles popped up, and wow, what a menu. I needed something for gluten-free and vegan. I was not disappointed. I had so much to choose from. I have never seen so many choices ever. The food was fantastic. I will certainly be popping back while I'm staying at Llandudno

A day out in Llandudno is never complete without lunch at Barnacles Fish and Chips.The food is always freshly cooked. Portions are generous and very tasty, serving staff are pleasant and helpful. A good plaice( pardon the pun) to eat.

On holidays for a week and today was our 2nd visit to Barnacles for a takeaway. The food yet again was outstanding. The staff are a pleasure to deal with so friendly, helpful & hard-working keep up the good work gang best chippy by far in North Wales 👍 👏💯🙌❤️

What a great find in Llandudno. Lovely crispy, freshly cooked Gluten-free Haddock and Chips, with Mushy Peas. The lads behind the counter were very busy, but really friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. They use environmentally friendly boxes for takeaways, which is great. Just be careful if eating on your knee as these can leak vinegar onto your clothes. 5 Stars all round.

Huge separate menu for vegans 🙌 i visit here pretty much every time I'm in llandudno! Chips are super fresh and tasty, great value for money and the fact they caterer for all dietary requirements they are by far the best chippy in town. Update Visted last week and the quality has gone down. Even the condiments on the tables are the cheapest you could get. No more Hellmann's vegan mayo either. Instead you get it in a tiny pot from a cheap vegan mayo brand from the waitress (tastes horrible) drinks now served in a glass Instead of cans. Meals not as good as they used to be. Clearly trying to cut costs but keeping there prices high! We got chatting to a table of holiday makers next to us who said they visited last year and it was lovely but wouldn't be returning again because of the poor quality! Such a shame. Won't be hurrying back anytime soon and definitely wouldn't sit in again as the prices are ridiculous for the quality.

Went in today for two regular chips two curry sauce cheese pot two drinks and a sausage. Let’s just top it off with they arent friendly they forgot curry sauce so we had to go back and the food in the end wasn’t even that good, we had to pay extra for a bag even though it came up to over £20 and on top of that no decent forks. I’ve been to some nice fish and chips shops and this is not one of the nice ones I won’t be returning

When we went in the cafe it the young girl cleaning the table from previous couple and whatever she used stunk very high of bleach, we ordered our meals basic ,chips and southern fried chicken hubby ordered fish and chips, the chips clearly warm ups and either green or black and the southern fried chicken was very very dry needless to say mine wasn't eaten the glass of lemonade was 2.80 and a glass diet also 2.80 ,young girl very polite though, not somewhere I would recommend

Super destination for those of us who need gluten free food. Great fish and chips. If you feel it's a little expensive then blame capitalism's drive to accumulate and the cost of living crisis. Open late, even on Sunday, so good for after a day out.

Go elsewhere! No atmosphere, made to feel like I was a hindrance to staff, as they weren't so interested - poss because later in the day? The prices here, do NOT reflect the food quality, ie. 'pricey but poor quality/ presentation' of dish choices. Can find Much better, tastier cleaner and welcoming venues in Llandudno.

Absolutely shocking, it's a shame I did not have time to take a pic, small fish and chips £7.50, been cut in half like a dog has had hold of it, went in to "complain" and had some woman at the back of the shop as I dared to ask for someone who can deal with a complaint going mental shouting to the front of the shop in a sarcastic manner "got a man moaning about the fish" appaling attitude. Negative review and you have lost 4 customers as we won't be coming back.

I ordered fish and chips, chips, peas and gravy, 3 bread & butter, 2 cans of coke? I nearly collapsed when I payed for it as it was £29.30 by cash only. The fish was smaller than a mini fish with an handful of chips. Definitely not worth this price, it was a rip off, we shall not be returning.

Great prices, I believe the fish and chips was around £7, definitely a lot of food for your money, fish was fresh and not too greasy as well.

As a vegan, it is quite difficult to find food options in seaside towns. At Barnacles however, I was spoilt for choice! Everything was delicious, promptly served, and staff were friendly and chatty. Definitely recommend!

We travel down from the Midlands once a year. Myself, mum and my boys. Second year running we have had our fish and chip seaside dinner before heading home. We couldn't fault the service, options and food. My mum is newly diagnosed celiac. And was absolutely over the moon with the full page of gluten free options! She went for the haddock with salad. Such a treat! Chip shops local to us offer gf dining once or twice a week. So a full menu was so welcome! We will be back again next summer! Thank you 😁

As a take away, it works well, as an "eating in" experience, not so well. Fish and chips were nice but the service left a lot to be desired. They could have possibly had a long busy day, but there were a lot of missed orders, food not delivered/forgotten, staff who didn't seem bothered, but as a take away, it seemed very popular.

Staying in North Wales on holiday and took a trip to Llandudno for the day. I had seen plenty of recommendations on Facebook for Barnacles as they do gluten free and I wanted to try it. The service was very good and the food came quickly. Mine came out last and had been cooked fresh so was lovely and hot. Gluten free vinegar was also bought over for me to use and I also had bread and butter. Bonus to the gluten free for us was it was also dog friendly.

Had the cod and chips special, have eaten here before but not since last year, first thing noticed was a price increase of over £3 per portion, cod special is fish chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and a tea was £15.95, used to be £12.95. Second thing noted was portion size, a lot smaller, fish was not as chunky and very flat at the ends with not much fish. I had curry sauce instead of peas and I have to say that the curry sauce was lovely, the chips and the tea were nice but the fish was underwhelming, We personally did not want the bread and butter and although we mentioned on ordering we still got some. Overall not worth £15.95, I would expect to pay that in a nice restaurant not a cafe which was very noisy, crowded, allows dogs in and was a bit run down.

We're regular visitors here and won't stop patronising this lovely little place. The food is always hot, tasty, well presented and delivered in good time. However, there are a couple of younger staff there who don't seem to cope well with the pressure and come across as rather stroppy! It's a shame because I'm sure it WILL put off some customers. That said, maybe Barnacles needs to employ one or two more staff as they seem exceptionally busy in the summer holidays.

I am regular visitor to this chippy. This review is based on my visit yesterday evening. Lady serving didn't seem to want to be there. Fish & Chips usually served in boxes. This time, they were crammed into little trays. Fish were small. Portions of chips were small. Tubs for Peas and Gravy half the size they used to be. Prices the same though. Don't object to paying their high prices if quality and portion sizes are right.

We visited here on Monday! We were served fairly quickly! The chips were okay. My son enjoyed his nuggets. Portions are small!

One of the few fish & chip shops to offer a reasonable range of veggie/vegan options (as opposed to others who offer poor choice or none at all!). Food good, but table/chairs/floor did not seem to have been cleaned duringbthe day. Waitresses did their jobs, but unsmilingly and were not personable or friendly. At £50 for 3 suppers, not particularly good value. Still, at least the veggie in our party could eat with us, so that was the price that has to be paid.

Find the staff to be abit argent and there is no baby change, the food is brilliant, but the staff are abit rude I feel unwelcome ☆☆☆

The gluten free fish and chips were absolutely wonderful. My wife really enjoyed the crispy batter. Normally she has to endure a pre-prepared fillet, but this was as good as the non-gluten free option. Bravo!

I recently visited Barnacles on a recommendation for its coeliac-friendly options. Their gluten-free menu offers a wide variety of items, which is always a treat to come across. We chose to dine in and were served promptly. The chips were outstanding—quite possibly the best I’ve ever had. The only downside was that the portion size was a bit small for the price. Overall I recommend, it was a welcome hearty meal after a trip up the windy Great Orme.

This place was recommended to me by vegan friends. There's a great vegan menu and a separate cooking area for the food. I went twice on a short trip and the food was delicious. I tried the battered sausage, chickun, mushy peas, chips, curry sauce ( all vegan) ..over 2 meals. Staff were very friendly and worked quickly to serve.

This place is a gem for gluten free . We have eaten hear a few times . All the way from Liverpool . It's nice to be able to have all the old favourites gluten free . ! The lads on the counter are just fantastic . So well mannered and polight and well presented , But consistently so ... Even when I came five minutes before closing ( I rang ahead) the place is clean and the food is great . Things I've had from hear gf Haddock . I think I've had cod too Battered sausage Chips Pies . A Chease and vege and a meat .!! Chicken nuggets ( yes gf ) Gravy Curry Peas Ice-cream . . They even have gf vinager.! We plan our trips to pass through and have our tea hear . Always a happy experience ! . Looking forward to the next time. Thanks again for the great service.

Great Gluten Free fish and chips! So happy to find a decent chippy that understands my allergy. All the family had great meals too. The young waitresses where very helpful and friendly. We were served very quickly considering the place was full and there were three children and three adults.
