We usually stay at Layerthorpe, but thought we'd stay here as 15 min walk to York Uni Central Hall. Room in spacious and clean, staff are brilliant - very helpful, very friendly. However, walls and ceilings are paper thin, so much noise (I appreciate other guests' lack of consideration isn't the hotel's fault, but we hardly slept). Stick with Layerthorpe, much quieter, seems to be more soundproof.

We enjoyed our stay at Travelodge, and the breakfast meals were nice. However, as someone who is lactose intolerant, I did get a few spots from the milk every day, lesson learned! 😅 One fun challenge I set for myself was to survive on the lowest budget possible during the trip, which made things even more interesting. The room was comfortable, but the carpet left my feet literally blackish. When I asked for disposable slippers (you know, the cheap £1 ones), they didn’t have any, which I think is a bit of a disadvantage for a hotel. Not asking for freebies, but having the option would be nice! On the plus side, they provided an iron and ironing board, though there was no washing machine, so we had to use the sink for washing clothes. Also, the reception ladies were very friendly, which made the stay even better! Overall, I really enjoyed the stay and loved the experience! 🏨👌

Arrived at travelodge hull road tonight only to find out we we're in a twin room we always get a double room so my husband can't understand what had happened we stayed in Brentwood travelodge the night before in a double so we asked at reception if possible to change to a double room she was very polite and helpful saying she would have to ask her manager whom she phoned and was told we couldn't change due to booking a twin we have stayed here a few times before so we're very disappointed the manager wouldn't help us you would think with paying £100 for 1 night she could have changed it for us but clearly not a helpful person towards her customers at all we tend do stay in travelodge 2/4 times a year its the first time anything like this has ever happened .

Mw and my partner stayed here last night. Happily surprised with the clean hotel and room we had 107. Staff helpful and happy. We had drinks and a meal next door at the black bull, plenty of room and nice staff. They lent us two wine glasses so we could have a drink in the room. We'll definitely be going back to stay.

Lovely stay at the Travelodge York Hull Road. Great location, easy walk into York approx 30 minutes along one straight road in or there is a bus stop just by the hotel that takes you into Town. Large free parking around the back of the hotel. Very big room with tea/coffee and free refills in reception if you run out. Great sizzling pub next to the travelodge which do lovely food. Would definitely stay again.

The worst place I have ever stayed, if you see an empty shop doorway on the way up choose that, the place needs a refit, unless 80s Soviet block is the theme? the heating was stuck on, both beds were poorly repaired and on an angle and the fire alarm went off we were stood outside with no one knowing how to reset it. Plus point although grossly understaffed with young peoole, they were very pleasant

Service ok. Arrived to be told no rooms as they were overbooked. If we hadn't had two rooms and one for a family with a young child, would have been sent to another hotel. After 15 minutes they managed to organise rooms for us. Room was large. Shower was pathetic, not enough power to do more than get you damp.

Need to get a 20minute bus from the station which is not too bad as it is direct. On the go breakfast was ok would be nice if they had a cooked one too though as part of the stay. Rooms were big and the bathrooms were tidy. Quite comfortable and I liked the fact you could open the windows unlike other hotel companies.

Due to York Races been on we paid £170 for one night which is extortionate but we needed a room. The hotel could do with having a total revamp. The grounds are over grown and neglected and we had a lovely view of weeds hanging out of the gutter. The room.was clean but tired and very basic. The bed is the most uncomfortable bed I have sleep in and the mattress was rock hard. There was also a musty smell in the room. Staff very very friendly and helpful. Perfect location for where we needed to be, but I would not stay again and would not recommend.

We have stayed at Travelodge York Hull Road now on numerous occasions. Each time has been great and perfect for visiting our kid at York Uni. Staff are always super polite and helpful. Rooms are quiet, have a good amount of space and are always clean. All the basics are there and extras, an iron for example are available by asking at reception. Free Parking which is always a massive bonus! I would love if you could earn points on stays in some capacity and would ask Travelodge to look into this, but other than that, our stays are always 10/10 😊

I was using this as a base between work shifts, Overall Staff friendly and helpful The room was spacious, clean and tidy. Bed comfortable. Plenty of hot water to wash with. Next door to a pub but no real excessive noise and the meals looked nice, which the pub served till 9pm. No breakfast as such but they can provide a breakfast box which is £5.60 this consists of small mini box of cereal, small milk a wrapped flapjack, a wrapped chocolate croissant and I think a fruit juice, I didn't order just saw the advert as I came in reception, if you wait there is a place a ten minutes walk away or so that does proper breakfast options this opens at 08.30am. Negatives: No heating just an electric heater you could switch on but that is fine as I like a cooler room and the room itself was warm enough, for me. There was tea and coffee but it was cheap so may as well drink bottled water I provided myself. It was a downstairs room and right next to my window was a spot light so there was an orange glow round the window all night, also walls are very thin could hear my neighbour coughing and going to the bathroom. In the morning I went for a shower and couldn't get the thermostat to work properly so it was either red hot or freezing cold.. Not a great start to a work morning, I'd also wanted to use the in house shower gel as I'd not got mine and it wouldn't work! I did report this at reception. All in all mixed review And you get what you pay for, if you want a stop over that's clean cheap and cheerful near a pub this ideal, 24hr reception and the staff are lovely, polite and helpful and pleasant.

OK, I struggle to say much more than OK but I'll give it a go , the location is fabulous the bus stop is just a 5 min walk and even closer on the return the number 8 drops you at M&S and picks you up in exactly the same stop so it's a loop an adult return is just £4 however the last bus is quite early so if its drinks you want the last bus is about 10 pm (ish) The rooms ...Well, there OK I suppose reasonably large with an electric heater and tbf does an OK job at warming the room there's a small kettle and the usual coffee &tea and a thimble full of milk (warm) The bed was sort of small I'm a larger bloke so found myself encroaching on the wife's space which I'm sure you understand is forbidden territory and at 3am was evicted with a pointy elbow, if I had to pick I'd say More coffee, tea, milk ( yes I know there's lots at reception) The hot water pressure isn't brill although enough to get you wet ,no ceiling fan to remove the steam The option for a stiffer mattress and a bigger bed The option to have a fridge in the room The option to have AC in the room A comfy chair or day bed in the unused space Breakfast !!! After walking around York I really needed breakfast perhaps a deal with the pun next door About the pub next door ,actually it's a good pub ,nice beer and cider clean and the menu was good the price was OK too expect to pay slightly higher prices you are in York after all To summarise: Better on the inside than the outside ,could do better for the money I'd pay more for more so probably missing a trick or 2

There is still confusion with parking in Saturday market place,. As a blue badge holder I find people parking in disabled bays without a badge, thank goodness for parking wardens. Please look at the markings for spaces they are badly marked

What can I say! We thought we were going to Penny’s for breakfast which turned out to be lunch from order to service 1hr 15 mins!!. later during the wait we were told the group after us were being served before us with no apology when the food finally arrived 1hr 15mins later ( I have to say it again) we were given orders we didn’t ask for and extra bacon promised didn’t arrived we did not ask for it as we were only in York for the day. Safe to say we won’t return. Having a small kitchen is not the customers fault and needless to say they wanted to charge us wait for it !!! £60+ for 4 breakfasts and 4 coffees. Unless you have time to spare I don’t recommend it.

Well over priced for what it is didnt taste that great at all. Also was sat eating and a mother popped in with her little son(about aged 8-10) for the toilet but couldnt poor lad was desperate and she said i cant i dont have a code she asked the staff if she could borrow it and they said you have to by something first. Sorry but thats not fair the poor kid cant control their needs. Strongly disagree with having a code for the restrooms

Despite the mixed reviews online, Manahatta Bottomless Brunch in York was fabulous. Shout out to Tilly, our server, who kept us topped up! We arrived 15 minutes before and grabbed a drink in the bar before being taken up. The drinks and fizz kept coming. All food that was preordered was present and correct and was lovely! The toilets were a bit of a trek and were not that clean despite it only being 4pm. But bar that we had a great time. We've done a fair few brunches across the UK and this is our best one yet! Thank you.

Great place at great value so close to the city centre, which is only around 20 minutes on foot. Yes the furniture in the room was a little dated, and the wallpaper and paint could do with freshening up, but the rooms are clean and tidy and provide all the amenities with a spacious bedroom and en suite. Rooms are always warm, which was more than welcome from the biting cold outside. If I had to make any criticism it would be the mirror in the bathroom, as I am short, fat and hairy, I had to stand on my tiptoes to shave. But the hosts here are great, and always checking to make sure things are ok and that you have a plentiful supply of tea bags and coffee. They also provide off street parking to the rear of the Inn and while I didn’t sit the bar, it looked like a great place to unwind and they offer bar snacks should you get peckish.
