Due to York Races been on we paid £170 for one night which is extortionate but we needed a room. The hotel could do with having a total revamp. The grounds are over grown and neglected and we had a lovely view of weeds hanging out of the gutter. The room.was clean but tired and very basic. The bed is the most uncomfortable bed I have sleep in and the mattress was rock hard. There was also a musty smell in the room. Staff very very friendly and helpful. Perfect location for where we needed to be, but I would not stay again and would not recommend.

It's a Travelodge. You get what you expect. Just be careful of the speed bumpa to get into the car park.

Very nice service, rooms like rooms. They are enough for sleeping. No Wifi. Poor ventilation in the bathroom.

I was using this as a base between work shifts, Overall Staff friendly and helpful The room was spacious, clean and tidy. Bed comfortable. Plenty of hot water to wash with. Next door to a pub but no real excessive noise and the meals looked nice, which the pub served till 9pm. No breakfast as such but they can provide a breakfast box which is £5.60 this consists of small mini box of cereal, small milk a wrapped flapjack, a wrapped chocolate croissant and I think a fruit juice, I didn't order just saw the advert as I came in reception, if you wait there is a place a ten minutes walk away or so that does proper breakfast options this opens at 08.30am. Negatives: No heating just an electric heater you could switch on but that is fine as I like a cooler room and the room itself was warm enough, for me. There was tea and coffee but it was cheap so may as well drink bottled water I provided myself. It was a downstairs room and right next to my window was a spot light so there was an orange glow round the window all night, also walls are very thin could hear my neighbour coughing and going to the bathroom. In the morning I went for a shower and couldn't get the thermostat to work properly so it was either red hot or freezing cold.. Not a great start to a work morning, I'd also wanted to use the in house shower gel as I'd not got mine and it wouldn't work! I did report this at reception. All in all mixed review And you get what you pay for, if you want a stop over that's clean cheap and cheerful near a pub this ideal, 24hr reception and the staff are lovely, polite and helpful and pleasant.

We have stayed at Travelodge York Hull Road now on numerous occasions. Each time has been great and perfect for visiting our kid at York Uni. Staff are always super polite and helpful. Rooms are quiet, have a good amount of space and are always clean. All the basics are there and extras, an iron for example are available by asking at reception. Free Parking which is always a massive bonus! I would love if you could earn points on stays in some capacity and would ask Travelodge to look into this, but other than that, our stays are always 10/10 😊

OK, I struggle to say much more than OK but I'll give it a go , the location is fabulous the bus stop is just a 5 min walk and even closer on the return the number 8 drops you at M&S and picks you up in exactly the same stop so it's a loop an adult return is just £4 however the last bus is quite early so if its drinks you want the last bus is about 10 pm (ish) The rooms ...Well, there OK I suppose reasonably large with an electric heater and tbf does an OK job at warming the room there's a small kettle and the usual coffee &tea and a thimble full of milk (warm) The bed was sort of small I'm a larger bloke so found myself encroaching on the wife's space which I'm sure you understand is forbidden territory and at 3am was evicted with a pointy elbow, if I had to pick I'd say More coffee, tea, milk ( yes I know there's lots at reception) The hot water pressure isn't brill although enough to get you wet ,no ceiling fan to remove the steam The option for a stiffer mattress and a bigger bed The option to have a fridge in the room The option to have AC in the room A comfy chair or day bed in the unused space Breakfast !!! After walking around York I really needed breakfast perhaps a deal with the pun next door About the pub next door ,actually it's a good pub ,nice beer and cider clean and the menu was good the price was OK too expect to pay slightly higher prices you are in York after all To summarise: Better on the inside than the outside ,could do better for the money I'd pay more for more so probably missing a trick or 2

There is still confusion with parking in Saturday market place,. As a blue badge holder I find people parking in disabled bays without a badge, thank goodness for parking wardens. Please look at the markings for spaces they are badly marked

The Exhibition is a grand old pub dating from 1702 that is situated on a very busy junction opposite Bootham Bar in York. As you enter up the steep couple of steps you are greeted by dark and atmospheric front room which is split by the central bar, it's a mish mash of Victorian and Art Deco with every single bit of wall space occupied with old photos, paintings, brasses and other Breweriana. There are wood panels, glowing yellow lighting and rich dark red ceiling which envelops you into the cosy space. There's so much to take in, especially the Art Deco stained glass panels and large fireplace, you'd almost be distracted from the offerings behind the bar. Which are not the most exciting but there's at least usually a couple of beers from Brew York, Black Sheep and Timothy Taylors, all priced at the usual City centre prices. Where The Exhibition really excels is it's outside space, if you follow your way around to the back of the bar and down a fairy light lit corridor it opens out first into a large conservator which is used for group bookings and then out into what is clearly the biggest and best Beer Garden in York! A beautifully secluded long yard with mature plants and great vintage wall art throughout. The only slight let down is the rather Victorian toilets which could probably do with a bit of an update but otherwise this is a very much overlooked pub that is superb in Summer and would be nice and welcoming inside any time of the year.

Popped in for a bit to eat and last time we came here, we had our dog with us and sat outside. This time we were seated up stairs and it’s clean and staff very attentive and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The Yorkshire breakfast was lovely and a bit too much for me, but the poached eggs were the star, perfect and thank you.
