Travelodge Cardiff Central in Cardiff

They overbooked the hotel and moved us without notice to a Travelodge 10 miles from the city by a motorway. Disappointing, as we booked solely for the location beside the stadium. A ~15% refund was offered which hardly reflects the drop in value.

Stayed this week. Missing pillow cover but good stay. Staff lovely.

I stayed here for an overnight break after a mid week concert. I never expect too much from Travelodge but I have to say the staff were great. Friendly and polite - even when faced with a disgruntled customer who booked in before me. The location couldn't really be better, placed at one end of the main entertainment street in Cardiff. The rooms are clean, functional and basic. The same as every Travelodge. If it wasn't for the placement and temperature of my room I'm sure I'd have given it an overall five stars, but the room was far too warm so I had to open the window. The room looks out over the bus station which seems to operate 24/7 and has some sort of air conditioning unit going at all times. There's nothing much Travelodge can do about this (make the rooms cooler, I guess) but it's pretty loud, and something to bear in mind.

In city centre but carpark far away and cost thirty pounds for over night parking

The best customer service care skills from all staff they were willing to go out of there way to help. Never felt rushed or pushed has a customer. I would of given more stars because of the customer care. I would like to give a BIG shout out to Amanda one of the reception staff: well where do I start. She made us feel welcome, spent time, showing the best places to visit. Went out of her to help us and saw her do the same with other customers. I would go back to this hotel due to the customer service. X

We stayed here for a hen do and it was the perfect base. But what really made it were the fabulous reception staff. I had to have a parcel redirected to the hotel to be delivered, they listened and understood the issue. Kept and eye out for the parcel and when it arrived they gave me a call. We all had a lovely chat and a fashion show in reception so they could see the outfit that had arrived. They are such a nice bunch of people who really went above and beyond. They make you feel so welcome and are extremely helpful. Hotel bits: Room was immaculately clean We were situated on the back of the hotel (217) and we couldn't hear the noise from the strip at all. Perfect location to get to all things central. Especially if you are on a night out or want to shop. We will be back.

Been here a few years ago and was a dump, booked in this week for business trip as cheap plus reviews lately seemed good. Wow, a complete refurb and new style rooms has made a complete difference. Staff really helpful, room clean and fresh and really handy for station, buses, pubs and food.

Very comfy stay, staff were excellent and assisted where required communicated well - excellent value for money - clean & tidy - lovely bath in room - bed was comfy and cosy - no noise disturbance & great location

Another excellent staffing and stay. But. Please. For gods sake. When booking. You are responsible adults. Be responsible. Be polite. If you have any grievance. Be adult. I truly respect this Travel lodge and the staff.

We stayed at the Cardiff Travelodge on New Year’s Eve. While the bed was comfy, the room was clean, and the location was great, our experience was significantly let down by the rude and unprofessional staff. The morning after, we understandably felt very hungover and asked to pay for a late checkout. Two older ladies at the desk, both with noticeable attitude, bluntly refused, stating they already had 10 late checkouts. There was no reasonable explanation given, and their tone made it clear they weren’t interested in accommodating us—even though we were offering to pay for the extension. Disappointed but compliant, we went back to our room to pack. At around 12:15, as we were finishing up, the fire alarm in our room suddenly went off for about 30 seconds before stopping. Confused, we looked outside and noticed no one else leaving their rooms. A few minutes later, the alarm went off again briefly, with the same lack of response from other guests. It became clear that this was isolated to our room. We strongly suspect the staff tampered with the alarm to pressure us to leave, which, if true, is highly inappropriate and potentially illegal. This behavior overshadowed what could have been a positive stay. Rudeness and intimidation are not acceptable, and I would caution others considering this location.

Overall nice stay. Bed was comfy and the room was clean which is the main thing. Only negatives is we had no toilet paper in the room and in the morning at half 10 we had house keeping bang on our door waking us up. Was not impressed by this as check out wasn't until 12. For a cheap room it did the job. Great location though.

The location is perfect near the train and bus station. Very central, comfortable to walk the city. The service from the reception staff was good, the cleaning service very bad manners with clients and the rooms lacking in cleanliness, excess dust on the carpet.

Fabulous rooms,great location her with my Husband to see family for Christmas,home tomorrow will definitely book again..

Aw thank you had a lovely stay to go winter wonderland with my 2 year old and she loved Meg on check in what a reception made a fuss of her and made as very welcome Meg you got the 5 stars brilliant personality and so helpful on front desk thank you

To hot in the room lost a stone in sweat

Although it is based in the centre of the city at above shops and discos the room that we had was quiet and well equipped .

Ideally located near to the train station. Lovely friendly staff and room was immaculate. No noise from outside and slept well.

Excellent rooms . Exceptional in every way. I definitely will enjoy my stay here tonight.

There are many better hotels in Cardiff. I will always avoid this one. Dated, noisy, smelly… with rude staff who just could’t care less about guests. The place would be better without the receptionist who is there just to be rude. No luggage storage, in a hotel next to train station. I have never seem lower standards anywhere else in the world.

We stayed a few days when there was a concert at the stadium and were charged close to £160 per night. For this, the rooms were tired and needed updating, in places they felt grubby!. The main double bed was ok but other bed was uncomfortable. All pillows were really hard. Despite paying for three nights there was no cleaning offered in the room, you have to leave a signout for a "top up" if u forget no new towels, tea and coffee or loo roll provided. Even when we asked for top up our room was poorly serviced with items missing and spilt hand wash left on bathroom counters where dispensers had been filled. No air-conditioning, window was chained on a restrictor so gave little ventilation.. no a/c with a fan provided. It wasnt enough. To make it worse Windows were overlooked by other rooms and on occasions men working on roof but no net curtains provided so privacy meant having to close heavy curtains and block the little ventilation the wimdow afforded. You have to ask at reception for a hairdryer, not the most convenient thing to find out on the first morning and so out of step with basic standards it was a surprise to us. The hotel dont offer an option to keep bags safe on day of departure, again not what i'd expect at that price and a significant impact if u are travelling without a car onmaking the most of ur break. Despite being lovely and friendly staff on reception just couldnt compensate for decisions made by travel lodge management described above I appreciate the concert made town busy and over this weekend travel lodge had no need to compete for custom but my experience in travellodge in cardiff has made certain i will never stay at another travellodge if there is an alternative provider. They've clearly gone down the budget/ efficiency route with even hoovering when vacant being done.by bots but imo these efficiency are not reflected in customer pricing. There are many chainsin walkkng distance of the centre ifvisiting again i would not be staying here.

They didn't mind the mess and the noise

Best place to stay for an evening or watching anything at The Principality Stadium, staff friendly and helpful and room clean.

Centre of Cardiff. Near station. That's about the only good thing I can say. Unbelievably noisy, not a wink of sleep. The decor is tired and the corridor actually smells of poo.

Friendly staff, comfortable room, near everything we needed. A little noisy but you are in the middle of everything. A short walk to arena is what we wanted.

Was fab however Friday was a bit noisy. It was music blasting until early hours .. never thought about it when booking 🤔

Nice clean and tidy room all the staff had a smile on their faces the one thing I would say is it's on the main drinking street so don't expect a quiet night on the weekend it didn't worry us because we were on a Stag do 😁

Excellent hotel. Stayed here a few times on nights out in Cardiff. The hotel is clean and tidy. The team in the desk were very polite and helpful. This hotel is literally amongst the night life. I will certainly be using this hotel again.

It's OK, but the beds seriously need sorting out for the price you pay ...

Ok hotel for one night. The room was clean and beds were good. Friendly and welcoming staff. Perfect location near the station. But sadly our shower didn't work at all! Room was also quite cold. No plugs near the bed either. Nearly any 4G service coming through aswell, they definitely want you to pay for the wifi.

Staff were fantastic. Stayed on rugby weekend and they were bonkers busy. Room not perfect but who cared! It was clean and warm.
