Ramside hall hotel was fully booked. We needed somewhere in the local area, this was the first on the list. Excellent service, amazing food and great value . Even got a free bottle of prosecco as part of a meal deal, sweet! Lovely staff and lovely pub food. We had the steak and it was perfect 👌

Llamó por adelantado y no aconsejó ningún problema con el aparcamiento en un domingo por la noche, pero incapaz de conseguir comida como dejar de servir a las 5. 00 pm y no llegamos hasta después. Tomé un par de copas en el bar. Sin cargo por pasar la noche. Tiendas dentro de 5 minutos a pie plano - Sainsburys expreso, comida para llevar, etc - Puede recomendar el indio. Pub está situado en la zona residencial, pero era muy tranquilo durante la noche. El aparcamiento tiene poca pendiente por lo que puede necesitar rampas. Personal y lugareños muy amables Fácil de encontrar justo al lado de la M1. Lo visitaría de nuevo si en el noreste. Gracias por su hospitalidad

Was working in the area on business and saw this place around the corner and was glad I came! All food is freshly cooked I would describe as being homely! I had the steak and ale pie and it was excellent! Served with proper home cooked chips as well! It was quiet on a Wednesday but with food this good it should be rammed at weekends.

Nice pub. Friday was steak night and we got a cracking deal....2 starters. 2 steakes (sirloin and t bone) and all the trimmings with a bottle of wine....2 drinks we had on arriving...£57 !! And very nice it was too.

Stopped here last night in our motorhome. Had steak deal in restaurant and was excellent. Reasonably priced and good service . Will be stopping here again

Had a Sunday roast plus veg, a Yorkshire and a sweet delivered. They were great! Loads of beautifully cooked beef plus all the trimmings including good choice of veg and succulent gravy. The sweet was sticky toffee pud and custard. It was so light and really melted in the mouth. Excellent value and speedy delivery. Will definitely use again.

First time here for Sunday lunch, won't be our last, couldn't fault any of our 3 courses.

Great food at reasonable prices . Some good deals through the week including 2 steak nights and a 3 course italian meal for £10 starter, main ( pasta or pizza) and a proper dessert..bargain!

This is good value with the Thursday evening menu. Don't expect top notch Michelin star food. This is pub grub type of food. Nothing wrong with that. We had a great time. The lady who served us was superb. Helped us push tables together for a big group. Kept coming and takinh drinks orders. Helped us get a table in the bar area after for the pub quiz. A solid down to earth place. Would recommend.

Good variety of food, great staff. We had a lovely dinner my friend and I. Prices were reasonable. The restaurant area is separate to the pub so you do not get bothered with people drinking alcohol while having a lunch. The place has a car park and benches at the front where you can enjoy the sunny weather when it happens 😉😆.

A great motorhome stop over or just a great place to eat. We stayed on a Wednesday night in our motorhome, calling ahead first. We were made to feel really welcome. The food was great, with a nice range of dishes on the menu. We chose the rib eye steak which was a thick cut, beautifully cooked and tasty. Fab chips, a lovely side salad and veg accompanied it too. Good value for money and the service was excellent. A really pleasant experience and we will definitely return next time we are in Durham.

Had small fish and chips absolutely disgusting Fish arrived a pale under cooked The chips over cooked and swimming in a greasy mess one of the worst meals I have ever ate

Had Fish and Chips. Fish was not cooked properly instead of being golden brown pale and undercooked The chips are the worst I have ever tasted soft and swimming in oil I am suffering with indigestion since this awful meal I would not recommend to anyone

Yesterday we enjoyed the tipsy tea at the travellers rest at Belmont. The food was great with a good selection. Our drinks were topped up constantly and the staff were friendly and polite we will definitely go back. Thank you

Visited the pub for the first time for a meal with family last Saturday - 11th Feb Have to say we were all very impressed, the service was excellent - speedy and efficient and the food really was exceptional, good sized portions and piping hot. Hubby chose gammon with pineapple or fried egg, the waitress asked which he'd like and when he couldn't decide immediately asked if he'd like both !!! We'll definitely be visiting them again.

We came for a birthday meal with a party of 3. We came early but we're still offered the steak night deal. Despite one of us not drinking we were still offered 2 bottles of wine. Food was fabulous and prepared to preference. Well done to chef Ryan. Highlight of the meal was the excellent service from Jane. Very accommodating and welcoming atmosphere. Lovely log burner so the restaurant was lovely and warm. Will 100% be returning.

Lovely pub, great staff, lots of parking and Dogs r allowed on the downdide, the ladies toilets have a handdrier that makes a better ornament than dryer and no paper towels, u have no choice but to let your hands do.

2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £30 - great value and was lovely. Steak was cooked perfectly. Only criticism is there's not a good variety of beers

I've been here for steak night but never tried their Sunday lunch. Well I have now. Great value at £9.50 for one course. Really nice food and loads of meat. Very tasty and we will be back again.

Food was absolutely delicious 😋 no pictures as it was devoured .

We had looked forward to eating here and phoned and booked a table to avoid disappointment. On arrival we were welcomed and shown our table, ordered our food, starting with a soup 'Tomato'. Soup was delicious but luke warm even cold in places. We then waited 30minutes for our meal which when it did arrive was cold the yourkshires were burnt black. On speaking to a staff member i was told the kitchen had servef a family table before serving our main meal, these people arrived twenty minutes after we did, offers of replacement food were given but by then our enjoyment of being there had quickly changed to a feeling of being disrespected and fobbed off. I can only assume that our not being regulars as most there seemed to be is the reason our experiance of this venue wasn't anything like we had read in reviews. Our waitress apolygised profusly and deducted an amount off our Bill, which didn't change our experiance. Shame really as we were looking forward to enjoying some of their midweek offerings we read on the walls of the restaurant. On the whole the food was as bad as the service we experianced.

We were looking for a treat, so decided to book a 'Tipsy teatime' for last Saturday. The food was lovely, an English version of tapas alongside unlimited prosecco and wine, though you could also get Bud.. We upgraded to enjoy the dessert platter which was fab. A little taste of each of all our favourites. To top it off, after our time was up, we went into the bar for the Karaoke evening. It was a great laugh and a brilliant experience all round. Would recommend the Typsy teatime package, a great bargain if you enjoy alcohol and good food.

We visited here with friends for a meal and a catch up. All of us had visited before and tonight we tried the new menu. On arrival we were greeted immediately and shown to our table and a drinks order taken. The food when it arrived was excellent, hot, delicious and well presented. The staff are very friendly and efficient and go out of their way to ensure your visit is as pleasant as they can make it. As regular customers I can only highly recommend this establishment, we will certainly be back. Thanks for a great night.

Visited with friends on steak night. Fantastic steaks and great value. Had the mussels to start ,tasty and plentiful. No scrimping on portions here. We were 1st in, so sat where we wanted. The lovely waitress Jane came over and sat us down and took our order for drinks. We chatted awhile as we have met her before . a couple of times. She brought the drinks then took our order. We both went for the Sizzler dishes, i had the beef in a lovely sauce & my wife had the King Prawns. Both dishes were cooked to perfections, Just my wife had a dessert, sticky toffee pudding with custard which was delicious as i finished it as my wife was full by half way. The service was tiptop and Jane was a delight to talk to.

Freezing uninviting dining room. Had to keep our coats on. Radiators stone cold. 5 pieces of scampi , chips and a bit of salad £10.95. Avoid.

We visited here on the recommendation of a friend. I had the burger and my wife had the steak. Girl serving was lovely and very attentive. She looked like she enjoyed her job. We were surprised how nice the food was here and it is very reasonably priced . In my opinion much nicer than the other local restaurant which has become overpriced and the food highly overrated. There are no bells and whistles here. Just good honest food and a generous portion. Not a massive menu choice, but enough. We didn't come on steak night but have heard good reviews about it. We will be returning soon...

We did the steak night and upgraded to fillet. It was a very good cut of meat; trimmings were spot on. Red wine that came with the meal was a decent Shiraz. Can't fault it for the price.

I have written many good reviews about the food here, as it is always above the average pub. Regrettably the room is always cold and other guests state the same. You need to have your meal in reasonable comfort and warmth so I would kindly request the owners take this constructive criticism on board.

Sadly a very disappointing Xmas party lunch of 8. Meat/fish arrived followed by 1 medium dish of veg at top of table which fed 4. After further wait a small dish arrived served 2 but turnip missing. Asked for more and at the same time a lady in group found long hair in her potato. She was asked did she want a fresh meal. OMG of course she did.. !!! No discount given. In confusion she was given the dish of veg and waited ages for rest of meal so again I asked for some veg and after a very long wait we recieved turnip. I gave up and just ate what I had. Meals where ate by then also. I had fish with tomato sauce so brussels, cabbage and over cooked turnip not the ideal veg to serve with it anyhow. Tiny spoon of potato on plate. Depressing back ground music. Left hungry and not worth £9.95 for my meal. Some table decor would be nice as a Xmas meal. £5.20 for a single gin n lemonade was a shock 😲

Been in for a block booking of 9 ladys for christmas lunch. Food arrived , looked lovely. Until i took a fork full of mashed potatoe.. and it had a massive hair mixed in with in... they took my food away,had to wait awhile till a new plate was given to me, but every one else was finished thier food... just put the dampers on everything.. I asked for a small refund because of what had happened. To be told NO, because they made me a new plate up. Wont be back. Def dont want hairs in my food.. also think the kitchen staff need to wear hair nets

Just had a takeaway Sunday beef dinner for three. Outstanding value and it tasted amazing. Would definitely recommend.

Wednesday and Friday is steak nights with a complimentary bottle of wine thrown in. The chef cooks the steaks to perfection, always tasty and excellent value. Try you will not be disappointed 5* every time.

Had Sunday Lunch with the family. Great choice. Food was fantastic so was the service. Will be back.

It’s not the most appealing building, but the food was a treat, particularly for the price we paid. It was steak night and we had two fillet steaks plus a bottle of wine for £34. The meat was particularly good and everything was freshly prepared...

Following a recommendation on the Sunday lunch at the Travellers Rest I decided to give it a try. It is local to my area and they offer collection / delivery service whilst in lockdown, which was great. Gosh I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised and the meal was fantastic. Very large portions and really tasty indeed. Like others, I would highly recommend this place and the owner is very friendly & helpful. I will definitely be back :-) Kim Bennett

I would highly recommend this pub, we are regular visitors and cannot fault the food and the friendliness of the staff. During COVID they have offered a local delivery service and the food is lovely, fresh and a very reasonable cost. 5 stars ⭐️
