The Pub and Kitchen in County Durham

Food was great, really good. Veg is served separately to share between you, never really keen on that, had to ask for serving spoons (and got desert spoons) as had nothing to dish the veg out with. Being a bit picky but my main gripe was the tall dark haired male server that was incapable of passing my chair without kicking it or walking into it even though I had it pulled right in, and the way he threw the food at us.

Really enjoyed it here, ordered parmo with steak pieces on top, can't remember the name but it was beautiful. Great service, great food. Will definitely be back.

Lovely place 10/10 food and service

If you're looking for a cozy spot with a log-burning fire, unique decor, and even better food, this place is a must-visit. I booked in as a group of 5, and the service was both polite and quick. The breakfast was, without a doubt, the best I've had in the area. I 100% recommend it—trust me, you'll thank me later!

Amazing food & portions sizes, polite staff & most of them were friendly.

Lovely atmosphere in a cozy pub with log fire. We called for our tea and enjoyed fish & chips. The food was freshly cooked and the table service was excellent. We also enjoyed listening to a good selection of music 🎶

Visited hear for the first time today for a birthday meal. The food was excellent, garlic mushrooms parmo and a Shanghai sizzler succulent chicken and plenty of meat and prawn in the sizzler. The atmosphere was lovely, open log fire, friendly staff and lovely music, will definitely visit again soon.

We went there 8.45pm kitchen spouse to close 9pm but they took our orders and food was amazing steak cooked to perfection and chicken was very good staff was very friendly we would like to go there again ☺️ 😋

Great venue with a great mix of locals and diners. Excellent food and service. Large portions and got a doggy bag to take home. Very dog friendly, even to dog toys and water bowls. All the dogs got along great.

This was our first visit. We went on New Years Day for a late lunch. It's a lovely cosy pub , was really busy which is always a good sign. The staff were really nice and friendly. The menu is varied and there were some lovely specials on the board. The food was really good, will definitely go back!

Hidden gem that was recommended to me by a friend. It was great ..plenty food to choose from and we were not disappointed! Reasonably priced and plenty staff who were attentive and friendly.

Such a lovely warm, cosy pub and great food. We went to try the new menu as the 'P&K Christmas pie 'sounded interesting. My husband said it was very tasty, lovely filling with light pastry while I had the liver,bacon and mash, a menu item rarely seen now. This was also delicious. They were very generous portions and so we couldn't manage desserts!

Normally go through the week but tried the Sunday dinner today........ Absolutely superb Crispy belly pork. The service is always good with the friendly staff and our meal came really quick.

Midge was a superstar! I mean honestly all staff were friendly and personable. We ordered and it came so fast. The food was gorgeous! Can't find a fault except we had no room for dessert (or time). We will be back.

Haven't been here for years and years . Picked the lunchtime menu from the board £15 for main fish and chips with curry sauce or mushy peas . Gammon in bun with chips and gravy and dessert sticky toffee pudding and icecream ,could had cream or custard . Nice and cosy plenty of seats and tables . Staff very friendly .

This place was a lot better than I expected. She suggested going and I'm glad we did. The food was outstanding. The steak was cooked perfectly. The beef brisket bomb was da bomb. Good choice of pints and drinks for the lady. Will be dining here again.

Stopped in for lunch after walking in the area. Nice pub with friendly, helpful staff. The beer choices (ale) were limited. The food was nice, but a little on the pricey side.

Fabulous food as always …. Sat by the fire on a cold night with great food and wine. Staff always so friendly and helpful.

This is a fantastic place to socialise and eat. The staff have become one big family to us, always welcoming and can’t do enough to make us happy. The best Sunday dinner for miles around! You have to book as it’s always busy! We love the Asian nights on Thursdays especially the chicken Katsu. Iainy and his lovely Jess - the best Border Collie in the world, always give us a warm welcome to their restaurant. The new P&K chocolate with a secret ingredient is fabulous and well worth trying. Thank you Sarah, James, Jan and Iainy and all the staff for making my birthday extra special last Thursday, one I’ll never forget. Here’s to many more evenings and Sundays, we love you!

Been a few times. Never been disappointed - the belly pork is borderline best thing I've ever tasted. Absolutely lush. Big portions, decent pint. Only gripe was I ordered chips and they'd been cooked in truffle oil which I don't like but that was my mistake, not theirs. Looking forward to going back.

Lovely place to visit only was a little expensive £19 for a burger is just a little bit on the steep side. Saying that I would visit again

Absolutely fantastic place, food is outstanding quality and value for money. Staff are always welcoming and friendly. Location is great with brilliant views of the countryside.

We have ate here a few times now, and the food has always been nice. The sizzlers are always a good choice. It did take about 40 minutes but they did tell us before ordering. Would recommend for a weekday tea.

We had an exceptional dinner at Pub and Kitchen. The menu is varied and creative, offering something for everyone. The food was outstanding, and the cozy, eclectic atmosphere added to the charm. Diane, our delightful and attentive waitress, made the evening even more memorable. Highly recommend—5 stars!

First time here, really good variety on the menu along with lunch specials and a specials board.

Food is amazing we had the hanging kebab, satay chicken and the Mumbai mixed platter... Wow it was all amazing and really tasty. Portions are extremely large, would defo share next time. Would advise to book a table as it does get booked up quickly

Please note this is only my opinion,visited for Sunday lunch ,place was very busy.Soon got shown to our table ,3 ordered beef one pork ,food came quickly.Meat was ok the rest awful ,tasteless parsnip ,roast potatoes,see through gravy ,Yorkshire pudding had to break bits off to eat it.Vegetable’s brought on a shallow plate ,also very underwhelming,no extra gravy ,asked a waiter for apple sauce came back after a couple of minutes,said I can’t find it and walked off.£14.99 not cheap ,would I visit again ,no.

What a gem of a gastro-pub! Family run, dog-friendly, excellent menu. What's not to like?

Great little pub with a great atmosphere

We visited the pub and kitchen on a Saturday, early evening(4 adults & a baby). On arrival, a member of our group stated we had booked a table for 4(the baby wasn't going to be eating). The gentleman looked at us and replied, "2 adults and the baby, so 5 then". We thought this was quite rude and abrupt. We were greeted immediately and shown to our table that was prebooked. A server left us to have a look at the food menu. After around 10-15 mins a server came over and took our drinks orders which we received a further 5-10 mins later. After a few mins longer of waiting, a new server came over and took our food order. We did wait a fairly long time for the food and we noticed that regulars sitting behind us received their food before us(but arrived after). The food was okay, the portions were good but I do feel as though it is a tad overpriced. Overall, I don't think I'd jump at the chance to visit again based on the slow service and the price.

All the staff working were amazing, they are so friendly and always walking around with a smile on their face. The food was also delicious, it was all cooked perfectly. It can be a little dark in places depending on where you sit but overall it's a beautifully decorated and I will be going back again

Very obliging with our need for a quiet table due to hearing problem including turning music down. Food was delicious. Absolutely faultless and generous portions. The stand out point were the staff. Incredibly attentive and polite. One member of staff in particular was very funny and had us giggling away. After a day out at Beamish this was worth the detour off the A1 on our way home to Darlington.

We arrived here at 830 after calling ahead to make sure we were ok to have food and said no problem. Arrived and told to order immediately as kitchen closed at 9, no problem did straight away. 10 minutes later told food I had ordered had sold out and to reorder which I did. Good came out, not what I ordered but said it was fine I would have it. Was braised steak, mash and dumplings. When food all arrived I asked waiter if I could have gravy with my dinner to be told no kitchen had closed. I explained it was too dry to eat but he did nothing therefore I left food. Experience poor and rushed. When he then charged me full price I asked to speak to manager. I was pointed to the front of the pub where he was sitting and explained my issues. He immediately walked to till gave me £20 , £19 for meal And sarcastically said n a £1 tip, no apology and really not interested in my complaint. If the manager is that rude and uninterested I'm not surprised his staff - aren't either. Eat out regularly but won't return here or recommend

Great pub, with a strange assortment of dishes from all over the world. Even though the dishes they offer are very different, everything we tried was great and the portions were huge.

A local recommended this place for dinner and we had a great time! The staff was really lovely and the food very good! We can recommend the Classic Parmo and the burger with pastrami. Word of advice: better be hungry because the servings are huge! :D

We love this restaurant. Food is always amazing, and you get loads of it. If busy, food can take a little longer to come but worth the wait. You just need to factor this into your time. Service is always great. The atmosphere is good but can be quite loud at times.

Exceptional north east Sunday Lunch with all the trimmings, lovely food cooked to perfection. We were seated and served promptly without being rushed, staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive Great atmosphere. Dog and wheelchair friendly.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Wide choice and large good home cooking portions. Fortunately they have excellent 'doggy baskets'! The meat was all succulent & tender with some of the best Yorkshire puddings we've had. I had the Sunday lunch steak which was superb as was the rest of the parties beef and chicken. Nice assortment of veg beautifully cooked. Staff very attentive and welcoming. All in all very good value for money.

We attended with friends, one who is a regular to this pub / restaurant, it was a lovely evening , and asked if we could sit outside , the response was no , they had no more seats , we asked could we stand outside , again, no was the reply , we then asked could we sit at one of the tables to be told again no , they were for people eating food , there were a few tables spare and we ended standing on the corner of the pub , even the regular who came with us , said he wouldn’t go back , Rude and quite frankly not for a customer focused establishment , your barman can fling bottles in the air all he wants , not for the price of the drinks which are outrageous

Nice place to get a drink with out having to buy food

We have just been this afternoon (27th) for my mams birthday and the food was fantastic with really big portions , we couldn’t manage a dessert but my daughter took a biscoff cheesecake home with her . We are definitely coming back as I booked Sunday lunch for next month while I was sitting at the table .

Came here after a long walk for an evening meal, nice and peaceful pub with a laid back feel, loved the food , very hearty portions topped off with a cracking pint! Service was top notch as the waiters were attentive and quick. Lovely border collie came to visit us while we were eating. Left absolutely stuffed and would definitely recommend to anyone in the area 👌

I orderd the chicken and bacon pie off the chefs specials board, when it came I got yesterday's chicken &leak when I look at yesterday's lunch board it was chicken &leek pie. Was not happy at all when I told lady she said it's is chicken bacon and leak wich is not what I ordered I looked in side there was no bacon and would not of ordered it because I do nit like leek It has put me off returning

Brilliant! So, I'm not gonna lie, when I first saw the menu I was a bit disappointed as I just wanted a quick snack meal and the menu looked a bit more filling meal pub, with the lunch menu being bot on at the weekend. However, after selecting a Sizzling Honey Chilli Chicken, sitting down with a pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord and taking in the environment I loved this place. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and welcomed my dog Shadow giving him a bowl of water that he lapped up as he had been on a lengthy walk. The pub looks great with a nice homely feel and a lovely open fire on the far wall. The food is absolutely excellent and clearly whoever prepares and cooks the meals takes immense pride in them and you can tell. Everytime a sizzler comes out the smell is amazing and it's an exciting g experience to see it taken to the table and get a breath of Chilli as it passes by. Definitely a recommended place to visit for a meal. What a great place to stop half way round a long country walk. Didn't get to sit in the beer garden but the view from the back window looked brilliant ... definite lace to see on a sunny afternoon.
