Incredible food, impeccable service and amazing atmosphere. Could not recommend this place enough for a family meal or even a couple of drinks, the selection for both was amazing!

Love it here, good food, huge range of drinks and lovely staff.

food was PHENOMENAL!!!! vibe was so cute and quirky and Dian is the most loveliest waitress ever!! she was so accommodating, funny, smiley and made our dinner all the most better (even though it was already great because the food was amazing). Dian really is a credit to the pub and you are lucky to have her!!!! 5 star!!!

Great Sunday lunch in a very busy pub. Only downside was the waitress did not ask us if we wanted desserts & when we chased this up they needed the table back. Definitely worth a visit, already booked to go back

Really nice inside, food was superb. Partner claimed it was the best burger she's ever had. I got the Turkish parmo. Lovely friendly staff. Dog friendly too.

Had the lamb, it was lovely, great plate of food. Love going there in summer when the rear decked area is open.

I orderd the chicken and bacon pie off the chefs specials board, when it came I got yesterday's chicken &leak when I look at yesterday's lunch board it was chicken &leek pie. Was not happy at all when I told lady she said it's is chicken bacon and leak wich is not what I ordered I looked in side there was no bacon and would not of ordered it because I do nit like leek It has put me off returning

Service was a bit slow, but the prices and food were very good

Brilliant! So, I'm not gonna lie, when I first saw the menu I was a bit disappointed as I just wanted a quick snack meal and the menu looked a bit more filling meal pub, with the lunch menu being bot on at the weekend. However, after selecting a Sizzling Honey Chilli Chicken, sitting down with a pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord and taking in the environment I loved this place. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and welcomed my dog Shadow giving him a bowl of water that he lapped up as he had been on a lengthy walk. The pub looks great with a nice homely feel and a lovely open fire on the far wall. The food is absolutely excellent and clearly whoever prepares and cooks the meals takes immense pride in them and you can tell. Everytime a sizzler comes out the smell is amazing and it's an exciting g experience to see it taken to the table and get a breath of Chilli as it passes by. Definitely a recommended place to visit for a meal. What a great place to stop half way round a long country walk. Didn't get to sit in the beer garden but the view from the back window looked brilliant ... definite lace to see on a sunny afternoon.

We ate here to celebrate a birthday with family. Our table was booked for 17:45, at no point were we told that the kitchen closed at 18:00; despite calling before to amend and confirm the booking. Some of the party arrived early and would put under pressure to order quickly, which meant we were called on the way to order over the phone, which we resisted. This meant a lot of pressure was put under us and that continued when we arrived at the venue on time for our booking. The staff were fine once I managed to explain the situation and fortunately the evening got better from there. The food was delicious but the shine of a birthday celebration was really taken away, which is such a shame. This could have all been avoided if we were advised to dine earlier. Great food and atmosphere, such a shame that the shine was taken off the night.

Good size portions, great homemade chunky chips. Steak not rested as blood all over plate like a river. Pet hate - sauces served in sachets!!!

An absolute diamond of a Pub/Restaurant in an almost forgotten part of the North-East. I live around 30 mins away and just give it a try for my birthday... Food amazing... Staff happy, pleasant, and courteous... Atmosphere great... Music was a mix of easy/pop from the 70's/80's being piped through the speakers... We will definitely be coming back...! Just brilliant. X

Heard great things about this place but my first visit I wasn't overly impressed . It was busy so may try again . We ordered 2 Sunday dinners and 1 fish and chips and made 3 mistakes with 2 dinners

This pub is a hidden gem the food amazing the staff amazing atmosphere so friendly and they have a gorgeous collie dog Jess, who makes it all worth while with a big gold sticker don’t miss out I’ll be going back

As always excellent food!!! We got the parmo sharing platter for 2 for £40, amazing!! We couldn't eat it all so they provided takeaway boxes for us to take it home.

I ate here the other week, i really enjoyed the hanging belly pork kebab that i selected so i would recommend giving that a try! The only disappointing aspect was the lack of adequate secure parking!

Beautiful venue, has a very cosy welcoming with a combination of wood and coal fire aromas flying about, the staff are as polite as anything. NOTE FOR VEGGIES - check menu before coming, my partner was very limited to choices she could have, was literally 1 starter and a couple mains. For starter I had the Italian bomb which was one of the tastiest starters I’ve ever had, beautiful creation and packed full of flavour. Partner had garlic mushrooms with the cheese melted on top and was very rich and tasted fantastic. The hanging kebab is quite overpriced for £23 for what it is and the amount of meat you get, did not understand why it comes with a naan bread either, naan bread just crumbled so couldn’t really do anything with it, wouldn’t buy that dish again sadly as the meats tasted great. Partner had the teriyaki halloumi and she said it was faultless. Overall a very nice visit and I’ll happily return, just avoid that kebab next time.

Lovely, quirky dining pub, and when in the conservatory or outside, there are great views over the countryside. In autumn, the cosy area around the log fire is great. Starve yourself before coming here though as food portions are huge!

Had Sunday lunch here ,got seated straight away and service was prompt staff very friendly, lovely cozy pub with a log fire , food was absolutely amazing best Sunday lunch, pork belly was to die for ,prices are a little bit more expensive than other Sunday dinners we've had elsewhere but it was well worth it ,would recommend this place to anyone, and we will definitely be returning, well done to all at the pub and kitchen for such a fantastic meal

What hidden gem 💎 this place is, great service from friendly and efficient staff who were warm and welcoming as is the general atmosphere and ambience of the place. Drink and food orders taken swiftly and only a short wait for food which was delicious (Crispy bellypork Sunday lunch 😃😋😋), even decided to stay for another drink in the beer garden/terrace after food. Cocktails were available and the electric jellyfish is a masterpiece. All in all very very happy as were my companions.

Really nice pub and amazing food. The only issue I had really was that it took a while to get the drinks, and also, we ordered wine with our meal but it arrived towards the end of the main course. Deserts were perfect.

Very pleasant and knowledgeable staff. Great sunday dinner, loads of tender beef. Lots of veg nice and hot and well cooked. Roast potatoe could have been crisper. Mushy peas can be added at no extra cost and are very nice. All very well presented will definitely return.

Booked Sunday lunch. Service was excellent staff were attentive and helpful they get 10 out of 10 for me along with food quality and quantity. A must try if your in the area.

It's OK but didn't stop for pudding

Sunday lunch today was amazing. Melt in the mouth roast lamb 😋 my partner had the beef which she said was delicious. The veg was cooked to perfection, we added cauliflower cheese as an extra, very tasty too. Huge Yorkshire puddings and lush gravy. Although very busy the service was spot on. Will definitely return.

WOW, what an amazing place to eat, food was outstanding, decor is so random but it works and looks really quirky and cosy, absolutely love that you can take your dog along too, as so often in places you can’t and we would’ve missed out on this gem of a place, staff very friendly, met Ian the owner to compliment him and his staff on this lovely pub, thank you

I have allergies to onion garlic and celery the staff and chef could not have been any nicer. We just turned up they said when we come again to phone and they would be able to offer a wider range. I must say the meal both me and my husband had was beautiful.

Lovely place with querky decor..we went as a large party and all members had a lovely meal..portions were big and well presented. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great outdoor space if anyone wanted to sit outside. Only thing that was a slight let down for me personally is menu has changed and some of the classics have gone so limited choice for plain eaters..this is not the venues fault, just not ideal for my pallet so would have to have a child's meal if i returned. Again lovely place.

Slow service ! Table next to the kitchen where people were noisy and all sorts of off putting smells . We had steaks - went in a tissue to take home for the dog so chewy !! Chips soggy and just …bad . Bill of £70 for a decent onion ring ? Never again

The food was really good, nice place but the staff were pretty disinterested and quite frankly rude when we asked for anything. It was quite a shame when we were a table of 8 and spent nearly £400. For that reason, I wouldn't go back.

Stumbled across the Pub and Kitchen by accident one afternoon, and myself and wife are so pleased that we did! Food was incredibly delicious, the portion sizes were generous and we absolutely loved the atmosphere! They had fab music playing in the restaurant, but this was at just the right level - you could hear the music as well as the people on your table (unlike at other establishments...) We will definitely be back!

Food and service was brilliant. The only criticism I would make is that the background music was too loud and the coleslaw was dreadful. Other than that, definitely worth giving it a try.

Great Food, around 20 minutes for the starter and main to arrive. Absolutely delicious. Warm and cozy atmosphere with stunning scenery in the beer garden over looking Durham City. Friendly Staff and Locals. Highly recommend!

Came here for a takeout meal for my Grandma who is in a care home after being told by two other establishments they could not help me. The staff here at the pub & kitchen on the other hand could not do enough to help me, the food was ordered and ready for collection within the time stated and the quality of food and portion size was fantastic. Steak Cooked to perfection. Upon entering the restaurant it was clear to see how beautifully maintained it was, very fresh and clean. We will 100% be using the Pub & Kitchen again in the very near future thank you for making the old girls day

Went for my sons birthday. Sat by the fire WITH OUR DOG. LOLA is a small cavapoo and everyone loved her. Great that more pubs are becoming dog friendly!

Impressed with food felt I got value for money 💰

Probably the worst restaurant I’ve been to. The steak was burnt tasting,the nachos app was absolutely disgusting take it off the menu please y’all have 0 idea what nachos are as a latina I couldn’t even believe how bad it was. Also they ran out of napkins and gave us this huge industrial roll of toilet paper which was pretty unbelievable. Needless to say we won’t be coming back.

Just been to the Pub and Kitchen at Cassop 1st visit today 17feb 2023 but won't be the last lovely staff ,good food and I loved the decor.only one moan it was a bit chilly but we got moved to another table which was no problem to the staff 👍😊🍽️😊🍻

Food fabulous however the whole experience was ruined by the rude staff in particular the manager on shift. I called the restaurant that morning to inquire if we could increase our party size. I was informed it could be accommodated if we could arrive early, I agreed. On arrival, I thanked the person who greeted us for accommodating my request he asked who I had spoken to and was informed he would not have agreed. He bullied the staff for an answer. It transpired it was the owner I had spoken to. However, from that moment onward, we were constantly informed of the time we needed to leave, and the staff's attitudes changed. If we could have gone elsewhere in the time available, we would have left.

Really good restaurant, decor, service and menu. Recommended. Only one negative, there is no carpark and only limited roadside spaces.

Firstly I was not served what was on the menu, the dish was missing slaw and salad it came with garlic mayo and a few green leaves that were not lettuce. Then the best bit was my RAW chicken parmo 🤢🤮. I will not be returning 😡

Oh my goodness what a delicious meal, steak night, 2 meals and a bottle of wine for £35. Best steak I've had in a long time with all the trimmings, we added a sauce each. 😋 lovely friendly staff.

Absolutely beautiful. The food is brilliant everytime we visit. The customer service is fantastic, so helpful and pleasant! All around lovely night out.

Really disappointed with the service from a member of staff. Booked prior to arriving and were told we could only sit on one of two tables by a staff member who wasn't attending to us. Both seats may I add were near the door. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy. Another two couples came after us and were given a table of 4 and a further couple were moved by suggestion from said staff member as they were in the dark. Food was lovely however was not asked once how the meal was and felt like we were a problem from entering the pub. Only gave 3 stars as the food was lovely.
