Really nice place and couldn’t choose from many great menu options. Did forget some parts of the meal and had to ask for them to be brought. Not massive portions for the price but you’re paying for the fancy vibes

The food is absolutely delicious, we had the eggs royale and caramelised banana pancakes and loved both. Also tried the strawberry milkshake and it was also delicious. We went on a sunny Saturday and did have to wait in line, however not longer than 15-20 minutes. It took quite long to get our drinks but I’d still highly recommend it as everything else was amazing

Vi este lugar en google cuando buscaba recomendaciones el bien se veía genial así que fuimos, sí que hay que esperar una mesa pero para mí esto no es molestia ya que solo una buena señal si está ocupado y prospera. Solo esperamos unos 10 minutos. Nos enseñaron a nuestra mesa, pidieron comida y bebidas, nuestro camarero era tan encantador, no estoy 100 por ciento seguro, pero creo que fue Victoria? Tenía el pelo rubio y gafas, era tan encantadora y reconfortante, ya que al pedir hacer ajustes hizo esto por nosotros y nos tranquilizó, a diferencia de otros lugares cuando te hacen sentir molesto o inconveniente. El chocolate blanco caliente era increíble, la comida tomó un tiempo, pero oh mi valió la pena la espera? SÍ. Soy vegetariana, así que tengo problemas para desayunar, pero hacen buñuelos de maíz dulce que nunca había probado antes y eran muy buenos. Beautiful interior, very good food, good homemade lemonade, bad pistachio latte. What I liked the least is the queue and the pressure to finish and leave asap. Would recommend to go there once, but I don’t think I’d want to go back.

Esta es mi primera opinión en un tiempo, sin embargo, me siento tan fuerte que me ha hecho desempolvar mi cuenta de TripAdvisor. He querido probar este lugar durante algún tiempo y el fin de semana estuvimos en Durham y tomamos la decisión de unirnos a la cola. Después de permanecer de pie durante unos 40 minutos, finalmente nos mostraron a nuestra mesa en la sala del sótano, que estaba helada fría, con corriente y extremadamente desagradable para sentarse. Sin embargo, no había más mesas disponibles. Empezamos a mirar el menú y mi esposa que tiene alergia a los frutos secos y al coco vio en minúsculas letras en la parte inferior del menú que debido al tamaño de la cocina no pueden atender a nadie con alergia al maní o al sésamo debido al riesgo de contaminación cruzada. Mirando aquí hay un menú de 2023 donde el consejo es simplemente hablar con su servidor, pero tal vez la cocina se ha reducido desde entonces. Lo que me inciensa es que ¿POR QUÉ no puedes atender si la comida es fresca entonces sabes lo que va en ella? No dices que la comida vegetariana puede tener carne. Sin gluten no es un problema, tienes otros frutos secos en el menú pero solo no puedes garantizar los cacahuetes? ? ? ¿Por qué no ser audaz y poner eso en el mismo tamaño de fuente que los platos reales en lugar del pequeño garabato en la parte inferior de su menú? En realidad dijimos que la camarera cuando nos preguntó sobre la comida, mi esposa no puede comer ya que tiene una alergia a los frutos secos su respuesta "sí, está bien". . . De todos modos pedí uno de los platos de jamón hachís, ya que de lo contrario habríamos hecho cola durante 40 minutos para una taza de café, después de 30 minutos la camarera regresó y dijo que había un problema con las patatas y me gustaría elegir otra cosa. . . . En este punto estaba tan harto, frío, molesto por el sentimiento antialérgico del lugar que acabamos de dejar. Yo diría que ahorres tu dinero y vayas a otro lugar.

So good we used it twice on our visit to Durham, even had to wait 30 mins in queue and another 20 inside, but well worth the wait for the lovely food and friendly service too. ..Will definitely return when visiting Durham again.

The food here was very good. I really love the pistachio latte, simply one of the best. 6 stars mostly for nostalgic reason. But the vibe was very good. The setting was very nice and comfortable. The waiter and waitress were attentive. Good location too.

Visitamos aquí un domingo por la mañana en enero, estaba super ocupado, pero logró conseguir una mesa. La gran caída fue la espera de nuestra comida, esperamos más de una hora sin ninguna explicación de dónde estaba nuestra comida y luego finalmente vinieron y dijeron que no pasará mucho tiempo y esperaron otros 20 minutos, creo que deben haberse olvidado de nuestro pedido. No hubo oferta de bebidas gratis ni descuento por la espera. Trabajar en hostelería previamente, ofrecer una bebida gratis o un pequeño descuento marca la diferencia con experiencias negativas como esta. La comida sin embargo era muy agradable, 2 de nosotros pedimos tortitas, el otro pidió salmón y finalmente un jamón especial, la gran desventaja fue que las cebollas se cocinaron en una mostaza integral que no estaba en el menú, esto no se habría pedido si se indica correctamente. Es un lugar encantador, pero nuestra experiencia no fue la mejor.

Favorite place we went to in Durham, with an excellent brunch. The vibes were very cozy, they were very accommodating of nut allergies, and they had the best Eggs Benedict I've had

The food was overpriced and pretentious, and the portions were small. The sausage was dry and obviously kept on a heat tray. The poached egg was actually soft boiled. The black pudding was a miniscule, barely a mouthful. The rosti was the size of a fish finger...just. Cutlery was old and blunt. I had trouble cutting through the store bought faux sourdough, despite trying three knives. Just shy of £20 for breakfast and a coffee, I will not be returning anytime soon.

Lovely location, great selection of cakes but awful smoothly. I specially asked the waiters if their smoothy is thick as I don’t like liquids diluted version. She assured me but served me the most watery smoothy you can imagine. The worth part was that it wasn’t even fresh, it was in several containers. I won’t go there again. Poor service and poor quality.

Lovely brunch with some of the family. Everyone's food was nicely prepped and good quality. Now I know why there's a queue to get in?

I recently visited a small café that I’ve heard good things about. Initially, I stopped by their coffee-only location, but since I was in the mood for breakfast, I headed to their other spot just around the corner. Unfortunately, my experience was a bit of a letdown. I was especially excited to try their Pistachio Latte, but it didn’t live up to my expectations. While beautifully presented, the taste wasn’t quite right for me—it had a sour flavor that made my face scrunch up. Maybe it’s an acquired taste, or perhaps it wasn’t made properly this time. Either way, it didn’t hit the mark for me, which was disappointing given how much I’d anticipated it. For breakfast, I ordered the “House Fry,” priced at £14.75. While the flavors were genuinely good, the portion size left me underwhelmed for the cost. It included a slice of sourdough, two pieces of bacon, two sausages, black pudding, a mushroom (or maybe a couple?), a tomato, a rosti, an egg, and a small pot of beans. I might be forgetting a couple of items, but overall, it felt more like a small assembly than the hearty breakfast I was expecting. For the price, I’d hoped for a fuller plate. That said, the staff were lovely—welcoming, attentive, and quick to seat us. We arrived just before the morning rush, so the timing worked in our favor. The service and atmosphere were pleasant enough, but for me, food and drink are the main factors in judging a café experience, and this visit fell short in that regard. While I didn’t have the best experience this time, I’d still consider giving it another try. The presentation and service showed potential, so maybe this was just an off day—or perhaps some items are more suited to other tastes.

Came to this café on the advice of the owner of The Georgian Window, that they had the best cake. They did not disappoint. The café is super cute, the servers were really friendly, and the cakes were outstanding. I kept seeing food delivered to other tables, and I will definitely come back to have a meal and THEN cake. ☺️

Been here a couple of times, and the food is excellent! Very well made! The lemon and ginger drink is very refreshing, and perfect for the cold weather. It's a pity that the gluten-free cakes they sell are not coeliac safe, because they are sold right next to the gluten cakes, and so not safe for cross-contamination. The staff are lovely though, very honest and friendly. Update: really enjoyed the matcha pancakes, made well, staff were friendly and took allergens seriously. The service was very slow, it is expensive but a nice place to come for an indulgent treat.

Called in here on the way to Durham cathedral... What a great little find .. It's so friendly and welcoming... We only had tea/coffee and cake but what a great selection to choose from... Great service, brilliant cakes and lovely atmosphere.. Definitely recommend...

Love their food and drinks, the only thing negative is the waiting, as it's a small place many times you need to wait outside until you get a table. It's definitely worth waiting for though.

Everyone in Durham knows about Flat White Kitchen. And they are 100% definitely the best brunch restaurant I have ever tried. Especially the egg Benedict, never disappoints once. I cannot point out a single thing that is bad for this. The choice of egg, golden and rich in flavour. Sauce is rich, flavourful, right colour. Ham is also generous and taste very good. You might need to queue but its worth the wait. Best brunch restaurant!

Although the English breakfast was average, we loved the service and atmosphere, and we didn't have to wait a lot to get in.

This is definitely a must visit cafe in Durham. The Caramelised Bananas Pancake was so far the best pancake I’ve eaten in Europe. The Organic Sparkling Ginger Lemonade was excellent too!

Nos detuvimos en Durham para un descanso de conducir hacia el norte y encontramos este increíble café y brunch lugar. El café era fantástico. La comida era muy buena también. El servicio era eficiente, que estábamos agradecidos por considerar que teníamos un niño de dos años con nosotros. Recomendamos este lugar a cualquiera!

Food is really good. Cakes are amazing. Prices and service however are astounding. 15 quid for pancakes. Atmosphere is abit dead, maybe some cosy music would have livened the place up abit. Had the gall to say - in front of several other customers just to make it extra awkward - “we normally add a 10% service charge” after they’d got my order wrong and we’d already spent £40?! Please remember you can say NO to this charge - especially when we had paid by card so unsure if this charge goes straight to the owner?

Not a great experience here. Wait for food was really long. Partner’s food was clay cold when he came so asked for a replacement. The waitress didn’t seem to be bothered at all and almost seemed shocked he asked. Then the second plate took ages again. When the food came out it was only marginally warmer and really unimpressive. Half of it was dry as a bone, and the other half was soaked in grease. So he left it. Ended up having to ask for the dish removed from the bill as waitress didn’t think to do it herself. Really poor service from her, couldn’t handle complaint at all

Don’t go with a buggy. Waitress had us waiting in outing rain with a 5 month baby even though the table was ready. She kept ‘checking things’ and generally made us feel like she wanted to put us off coming in. We went to tango burger in the end where they were extremely accommodating.

Had a fantastic brunch at Flat White - been several times. The staff are always amazing - super welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food is always really good and beautifully presented. The drinks are also fantastic. The restaurant is beautiful and the atmosphere is great. There is always a beautiful selection of cakes and treats in the display and they taste as great as they look. A must-go brunch/breakfast stop!

Sólo traté de venir en un almuerzo de media semana con la familia. Aprecio que sea pequeño, pero nos quedamos afuera bajo una fuerte lluvia esperando una mesa con dos bebés. La camarera hizo numerosas preguntas que nos lo dificultaron y siguió entrando a ‘chequear’ (¿se doblan los cochecitos? No puedes dejarlos en otro lugar... ¿no tendrás mucho espacio? Tendré que comprobar que puedes llevarlos a la mesa... ¿solo quieres café y pastel?) mientras actúas bien y dulce. Ella nos hizo sentir mal y que no nos querían. Preferiría que ella dijera que siento mucho no poder acomodarte con dos cochecitos. Nos hizo pararnos bajo la lluvia mientras trataba de posponernos. Lo elegimos ya que tenía buenas críticas sin gluten, sin embargo, la tarta sin gluten estaba al lado de las normales en la nevera. No recomendaría. Fuimos al lado de Tango, donde no podrían haber sido más acogedores y serviciales.

We arrived and a lady told us to wait outside as a table would be free in a few minutes. Another lady then came and asked the same question again 10 minutes later and noted it down. We were a party of 3. After waiting for 20 minutes we noticed they'd been seating people before us, same party size as they appeared to have forgotten we were waiting. I went back in to ask and they told me it was one on one out (I'm always super polite) but by that point we'd given up so left.

An address not to be missed, in the heart of the historic center of Durham. The brunch is delicious (I had a full English breakfast which I will remember for a long time) and the staff are charming. I went back in the afternoon to try the pancakes. A place to recommend.

Popped in for late lunch and had Korean chicken pancakes - it was absolutely fabulous. I would 100% go back again!

Food and drink were good, quiet atmosphere in some zones for work with sockets under some tables. Not particularly happy with the service in one interaction as I was interrupted during a video call then being called "rude". The staff could see from behind that I was in an online meeting as I was facing towards the wall with earphones on. It would be completely normal and understandable that they probably did not see that I was in an online meeting but I am not sure if explicitly calling anyone "rude" would be a nice act merely based on a one-off interaction. Was going to explain the situation and apologise for that right after the meeting which happened to be shortly after as I couldn't speak while I was in the meeting but I don't see the need to anymore. Other staff were nice tho so paid the discretionary tip anyways. Ordered racked up to £20 and got kicked out after I finished my food despite several tables on the floor being empty too lol.

Went in for a quick takeaway coffee. Staff was friendly and clear, and kindly brought my coffee out to me while I waited on the bench outside.

I waited for about 15 mins, which is fine for me. However, after that waiting I got a quit bad table with small chairs 🤨 When I complained about it they gave me worst one!! When I see the food price it is quite high ( fish fingers about £16!!😳) with that quality of table and chairs!?.. they call it atmosphere !!. At the end I haven’t got any food from there.. it is not my kind of place 🙄. (I put one star for food and service cos I haven’t got anything from there).

Paid £6.20 for two takeaway coffees and were asked to wait outside in the rain. Baffling.

Very good! Fair value for money and a tasty (albeit limited) menu. Seating arrangements are a bit cramped, but not unbearable. Staff and friendly and welcoming.

Worth the wait! Friendly staff, yummy food and a gluten free menu which is fab!

The queue was insanely long when we arrived at around 11.30, we had to wait 20 minutes to get a seat. BUT the food was so delicious that the wait was totally worth it! I recommend the Eggs Florentine as well as the chocolate brownie. The atmosphere is also super cute and the staff are very friendly. Overall it was absolutely worth the 20 minute wait!

My favourite go to when in Durham. Just the best coffee and the White Mocha is delicious. Great food and the cakes are just amazing. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and the staff and efficient and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. A visit is a must.

I would go a 5 star rating due to how friendly the staff were and the coffee was very tasty. The food was a major let down though, for the price, it (in my opinion) lacks taste. The French toast seemed cheap and the bacon on it tasted very cheap. The ambiance was nice and calm, and the actual sitting area is lovely with nice pictures (artwork) hanging on the walls. I went because it is apparently a very Durham thing to do, but I doubt I will be back.

Had pancakes with bacon, blueberries. Really nice. Not a fan of the business adding service charges though. They should pay their staff more if they don't earn enough.

The wait can be quite long, as the place isn't very big and very popular, but I can assure you it's well worth it. The pancakes were delicious, and the flat white is one of the best I've had in the UK, on par with Caravan in London. If you don't have the time, just grab a flat white take away, it's well worth it.

The food is great, abit over priced but still nice. The service tho is so super bad. And on top of the high prices they try and charge you a service charge! I won't be going again

I went there a year ago and the food was different this year. It was so sweet that I couldn't eat it.

Had a lovely lunch here of a burgerless chicken burger - very crispy and flavourful! Plenty of fresh bakes available for next visit - too full to try this time. Decor is exposed brickwork, fairy lights, many plants, very soothing vibes! Only thing is as the restaurant is set in multiple rooms over 3 floors, the staff are a bit scarce to find - though they are attentive when you get one. Still recommend

Excellent food and atmosphere in this cafe.

Unfortunately, we had to stand outside in the rain to be welcomed in but it was worth the wait. Shown to a table upstairs, the food and drinks were outstanding and the service was great despite being towards the end of the day. The staff work so hard running up and down the stairs all day.

The food is great and my favourite dishes are the Eggs Florentine and the Matcha Pancakes. Both are vegetarian friendly as well so would definitely recommend. Atmosphere is amazing even if it's crowded. There's always a queue but sometimes if you're lucky you can walk straight in. My tip is to arrive earlier or go on a day with bad weather. I wasn't a fan of the drinks personally. Coffee was more on the fruity side so they taste a bit sour which is not my favourite - but it's been a while since I tried coffee in the cafe so it might be different now. Matcha latte was disappointing the last time I tried it, it tasted too light and milky/watery. Might be different now considering that the matcha pancakes are great, but I usually avoid getting the drinks nowadays. I'd say Flat White is worth visiting overall - definitely give it a try if there's no queue. If there's a queue, go for other options as the city has a lot of good cafes.

We came for a sunday breakfast. As expected waited for around half an hour. They were welcoming, food was delicious prices were a bit much but I understand with this lines :)

A popular café, you can't book a table but don't be put off by the queue outside, it moves quickly and is well worth the wait. Super food, beautifully presented. Friendly and helpful staff in a lovely setting. Highly recommend.

This lovely cafe in the heart of the Durham old town was recommended by a friend and it didn’t disappoint. We had to queue for our table as they don’t take bookings but the wait was worth it. The staff looked after us really well and service was speedy and enthusiastic, would definitely return to sample more of the menu

Food was average at best, seems to rely on the fact it is one of the only places of its kind in Durham. People were made to wait outside (in the rain) for a long time despite there being multiple empty tables inside the entire time we were there. My only suggestion is if you do go, don't wait outside, just walk in and find a table for yourself - there will be one.

The atmosphere is amazing. However, this is the worst latte I've ever had in my life, and I've had a lot of bad lattes. Jesus Christ. I think/hope this is a one time incident and they're generally good. It would be such a shame for a place like this.
