Friendly atmosphere watching footy in the lounge. Been a couple of times when visiting town. Well worth it 👍🏻

Brilliant place, lovely atmosphere. Perfect pint of creamy black Guinness. Highly recommend.

Great place for Jazz, monthly gigs with top class musicians. Opus 4 jazz club.

Good bar with excellent Ossett beers. The real find, though, is the Andaman Home Kitchen in the same building which is great. Eat in or takeaway. Lovely Thai food and such nice staff.

Excellent, very local pub, in a very 30s roadhouse style. Lots of sport on TV, well appreciated juke box in the bar. Bar and separate lounge area. Two very good ales from Osset brewery, well kept and served.

Love this pub anyway but first time we’ve been in and had Sunday lunch. What can I say but it was amazing. Home made mash and veg with beautiful Yorkshire pudding. Beef was so soft and tasty. I cannot recommend it enough as a pub and the food is an added bonus.

The owners need to support a good landlord, and spend money on this pub. It's the heart of cockerton and deserves better. Fine staff and friendly regulars,top pint of Magnet. 🍻😊

Booked the function room, paid my deposit, to be called the week before my party and told that he was canceling as he had booked someone else in this morning What is the point in a deposit?!

Weird place with a not brilliant Sunday dinner.

Never changed needs a complete refurb used to love it sadly dont go in anymore. Could be a real village pub if the management would let it & the beer is shocking

Nice friendly welcome, good selection of drinks including a small selection of well kept cask beers. There's a tiny restaurant, based inside the pub at the rear which I've heard good things about, both in its previous incarnation as s Caribbean Restaurant and as it is currently, Andaman Home Cafe, which serves freshly cooked Thai delicacies. There's also a function room above which I believe is free to reasonable sized parties.

Very friendly suburban darlington local. Good ales, well kept. One of the better establishments in darlo!

Attended a private function. Private bar and plenty of room. I would give one caution. Ladies toilets upstairs. Loo wobbly and floor soft. Think you would go through floor.

Had a surprise birthday party for my daughter Jenny and it was an amazing night the staff went above and beyond for us all and can't thank them enough. We will definitely be holding any other parties we have there thank you so much for all of your help it was greatly appreciated.

Went in last week first time since February 2020

We've had an absolute laugh here today. Nipped in for a pint and the heavens opened and l mean opened! It rained so hard we had to get on the table under the umbrella and we all started talking to others that decided to do the same as us (getting on the table) and it was an absolutely great time. Thankyou to the landlord and staff who was lovely and served a great pint too. Xx

Back in one of my favourite watering holes ..proper pub ..staff and no posers ..only to find they have been drunk dry of my favourite. .real ale ..Yorkshire Blonde ...couple of pints of corporate lager and heading home to watch the FA cup final

My true local when I need a curry. Well worth a visit

The place needs huge investment and bringing into modern times. The prices for drinks are high and my pint was flat as a pancake. I try to avoid the place due the high prices. I won't be rushing back.

Just attended the most fabulous jazz night at the Travellers Rest. Jazz night is once a month and the music and variety of jazz musicians is excellent. It is well worth a visit.

Had a good pint there, however in need of an update throughout. Polite staff

Popped in for the first time in years. Bit dated with its decor, had a great pint of Magnet when we eventually got served. Only us stood at bar as the barmaid was stood a few feet away chatting to customer and ignoring us totally. Did eventually get her attention and got one pint with a massive head and the other pint wasn't a full measure. Won't be returning.

The guest beer (London. ..) was not my best - a big flat. 👎

Great local pub, drinks are expensive outside happy hour times (4-8pm Monday-Friday) but very friendly staff & regulars, Sky Sports, both racing channels what more could you want?!?

Amazing Sunday lunch. Ample food. And beautiful taste. Meat was perfect. A great way to miss out on the drudgery of pots n pans. Definitely a regular now

It’s a local for me! me and my family come here all the time, everyone is so friendly + the meals & the drinks are great. Pretty much my second home 😀

Although this pub's decor leaves a lot to be desired, don't let that cloud your judgement. The staff are always friendly and the place is spotless clean. The toilets are old fashioned, but they are always clean and that goes a long way considering the state of some places in Darlington.

Friendly pub, played a gig there upstairs but was welcomed buy all people in the pub that night.

Great boozer! Free darts, with no nonsense drinks selection and friendly staff/atmosphere. They also have a fantastic beer garden with lots of seating, perfect for a pint in the sun!

What was once a great pub is in it's death knell. The owners from York don't care. It is one of their best earners by all accounts. Of course it is because they have spent nothing on it for years and still charge over £3 per pint..It has been my regular haunt for 38 Years but not any more. I understand they do most business in the afternoon and early evening. It seems like the later evening crowd like myself are no longer welcome as the landlord would rather shut the pub than serve his evening regulars. I can see his point as there are not that many visitors of an evening. I call him by his first name but he hasn't bothered to find out what mine is. That sums it up really!!

Expensive, and short measures! Our pints were well below the line (by centimetres) but when I raised it with the bar lady she said it was "automated" so she couldn't top it up. Ridiculous really. Especially at £4 for a pint of Magnet. No other ales on. Also thought they did food. Which they didnt. Only plus was it was dog friendly and spacious in the (suspiciously) empty lounge area. Also had a random bloke talking at me the whole tine while I was trying to watch the rugby... Won't be back for sure. Weird place and not in a good way!

The natural habitat of fat tattooed beasts. Don't go there for a first date. Or even a last date! The gents loo is a little victorian. It is however, in the centre of Cockerton so easy to get to.

This is my local, and I enjoy its traditional pub atmosphere. Decent pint, good service and lively on a weekend. Ticks the boxes for me.

Superb Sunday lunch, I always make my own roast dinners because I don't normally rate them in pubs or restaurants, however we were out with friends and this was their choice and we're we pleasantly surprised. Gorgeous roast beef with all the trimmings and home made Yorkshire puds (a must for us) and very generous portions. Will definitely eat there again, and soon I hope.

Fui allí para una fiesta de compromiso la habitación era preciosa bonita y grande.Mi única pega es cuando fui al bar de la camarera fue muy grosero y cuando negociaban pasado personas le pregunté si tenía un problema ella respondió con una observación grosera! Así, desde entonces fui al bar de abajo de las escaleras en el lado positivo las bebidas más barato allí.

Real pub in a local village setting

Only called for a beer, enjoyed in the beer garden. Looks to get the sun most of the afternoon. Friendly.
