I told the manager that the peppered steak was inedible and he said thanks for tell me I will take it of the menu. As four of us go every two weeks I thougth he would have offered her something else.our said I will NOT charge you for your meal. very Dissatisfied.

Lovely pub, great food, excellent atmosphere, staff friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely time but we're asked to move so they could hoover the conservatory area, I guess that's fair enough when they're quiet but it was a Saturday evening.

Hands down one of the best pubs I've visited

I wasn't particularly impressed by The Fox & Hounds. The food was distinctly average but was reasonably priced, drinks were surprisingly expensive, £15.40 for a pint and a glass of wine is a tad extortionate for a local pub. Sadly the staff weren't hugely friendly. It wasn't a disaster but not somewhere I would race back to

First time here today after hearing good things and it not disappoint, service from the guy behind the bar was outstanding (didn’t catch his name) he made sure we got through the queue in good time and ensured we catered to by chefs (due to dietary requirements) food was amazing highly recommend lovely place.

Been visiting every Sunday since it re opened as we love a carvery but this is definitely the best carvery around food is always amazing Thank you

Since new management took over we've been very impressed by the menu and service.

When there on the oof chance and we where very please we did The serves as very good and the Sunday carvery as excellent the meat was very good and a lot of vegetables to choose from We will be back for the carvery

What an amazing evening booked a table at 7pm for 4 of us not realising it was quiz night but we stayed and joined in the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was great what a lovely evening

First time visiting this inn & certainly will not be the last. Very cosy & tranquil environment has a lovely feel about it from when you walk in. The beers on offer were great & very well kept the wife enjoyed her wine. The star of the night was the food just like when we used to use pubs alot before they all went arty farty. Great sized meals, very varied menu to please all tastes & fantastic in price. The young gentleman who i assume was the manager was hilarious & totally suited to a english inn. Very attentive & keen to engage in chit chat. Would i return certainly sadly do bot live in the area, but when we visit this will be our go to place.

Having booked a table for a business meeting we asked to be out of the way so we didn’t disturb any other dinners the staff were lovely very accommodating. We ordered from the midweek menu expecting smaller portions but we were wrong, food was amazing and the sticky toffee pudding was one of the best I’ve ever had Booked in again next week with my family Thank you

What a smashing place for somthing to eat. I have been to the Fox and Hounds quite a few times over the last few months and has always been great food. Tonight I had a double portion of quesadilla's and chunky chips simple but really tasty. I have had pies to roast dinners here and always fantastic. I don't normally write reviews but over the last few months I have tried over a dozen local pubs around Darlington and the Fox and Hounds In Neasham has been the best by far for good honest tasty food, generous portions and nice staff.. I'm sure this is the locals best kept secret. If you fancy some tasty food give this place a try. Will be back again soon.

Good and efficient service, food was hot and fresh.

We had christmas fayre this afternoon. Everything was amazing from start to finish, food was lovely and lots of it. Everyone enjoying all courses. Service was exceptional. The staff couldn't do enough for us. Well done to all the staff!

The food was delicious, everything was served in good time and it was a lovely atmosphere. Toby was an amazing server always checking we had everything we needed and made us feel welcome from the offset!

We had a absolute brilliant night at the fox the conservatory was perfect for a team night. Tucked away yet the staff were always at hand, the tall gentleman working tonight was a right giggle. Food was the best. We will back next year! 🌟

Had a lovely lunch time treat here last weekend with the family. Sort of get together before Christmas. Really popular pub would recommend booking as when we arrived it was full. Lovely eating area and noticed they had a separate dog menu, great touch. The food was really good & big in size, my pie was amazing. The wife had the sea trout & said it was lovely. Kids enjoyed theres but loved the bubblegum ice cream. Great value & lovely staff.

We went for the Christmas party dinner last night, 40 of us, we had a lovely 3 course meal at a very reasonable price, the service was good, everyone in the conservatory worked hard, all in all a great evening

Lovely, friendly and welcoming. The staff go out of their way to make your visit an enjoyable experience and the food is exceptional.

We celebrated the father in laws birthday here, 12 of us. Unfortunately my meal (giant chicken kebab) was not great. The bed of rice it was served on was very VERY hard, felt like it had been cooked for 2 minutes. The chicken was very hard and rubbery. Everyone else’s meals were fine. I had all intentions of making the staff aware but I had my toddler and twin 6 month old baby’s with me which were upset with how hot the room was so we just paid and left. I just will not choose to go there again. BUT the next day, I was not well and as the day went on, it got worse. The next four days were very painful. I honestly do believe this was food poisoning due to the rice as this can be very dangerous if uncooked. I did send a pleasant and nice message advising them of the uncooked rice and how I was unwell. To see this message as feedback, they have chosen to ignore me. Very unfortunate. I would advise not to eat here.

Food is overpriced and low in quality. Ordered chicken parmesan which was stodgy and had far too much cheese snd sauce on. When I started to remove some of the cheese and sauce I saw the chicken was paper thin and the breadcrumb around the edge was stodgy and wet, and tasted like very old oil, clearly hiding poor quality chicken with cheaper ingredients. With a menu that big it's obvious everything is frozen. The salad was barely a salad, 1/4 of an anaemic tomato, 1 slice of cucumber, 2 slithers of red onion and clearly cheap shop bought coleslaw. The chunky chips were delicious though!

Went there with table of 4 great friendly staff food was amazing and I thought the price was very reasonable. We will definitely be back

We visited this pub on Friday evening and had a lovely meal. My fish was cooked to perfection and my friend’s chicken dish was also great.

Lovely meal. Some interesting choices on menu. Made very welcome and well looked after. Will be back for more!

Always enjoyed a carvery cause I’m a fussy person and can pick what I want and on Sunday this pub did not disappoint I could not believe the option you got and everything tasted amazing Definitely recommend

Went for the Sunday Carvery. I'm vegetarian, so I'm not normally a big fan, but everything was cooked to perfection and a fantastic selection. Great they have the three plate sizes and decently priced. Will come back again.

Great food. The service on the meat counter was a sticking point. Could maybe do with more than one person doing that.

Needed a bit of us tine & popped into the fox & hounds in Neasham for dinner tonight. Was marvellous very inviting & such a lovely feel. We had a few drinks in the bar then was shown to the dining room. High back chesterfield gorgeous seating & extensive menu. Food arrived quick & hot, was honestly so good. We will bring the kids next time as the playground looked great. 10/10

Well that was a pleasant surprise absolutely lovely pub. Had heard over the summer this pub was good thought we would pop in, such a nice atmosphere from entering. The menu was fab plenty of choice even did a dog menu. Very relaxed vibe which we loved, we will certainly be returning.

We enjoyed a cracking carvery on Sunday!! Was greeted by a canny bloke with a tash and explained how to go about table, meal ticket etc.. food was absolutely spot and I’ve never seen a carvery with so much choice. The guy with the tash even offered the dogs some beef.. Top bloke! We’ll definitely be back.

Food was amazing, very well presented. Staff were all friendly and accommodating. Lovely pub will be back.

Great carvery on a Sunday and friendly staff.

Not much in the Beef pie and pastry not cooked inside should of been puffy but it wasn't,it was flat.

Order ws in correct had to eat what they cooked me as couldn’t wait for my original order brought me plate of beef brisket which was fatty and grissel terrible food

Would've given a 5 but no loo roll in ladies let it down but carvery very good and nice staff definitely go back

We arrived on time for our booking at 6.15pm and waited over 15 mins for our drinks order to be taken. I approached a member of staff at 6.50 to ask if our order could be taken. She replied that the chef had stipulated a 15 minute delay for orders and added that a party of 10 ‘walk ins’ had arrived and were being served first. Given that we were a party of 7 and an additional party of 25 was booked and also a table of 6 and a table of 4. A party of 2 walked out. Why accept a walk in of 10 when the restaurant is booked for that time? Food was average at best. Giant Yorkshire Pudding was abysmal, meat very tough. The sizzling chicken was hard, chewy and overcooked, probably previously frozen. In short, not a great experience so we won’t be rushing back. I would stress that this was not the fault of the serving staff who were apologetic and working hard to keep up with the demand. This is a management problem.

Very slow service in spite of prior booking. Food was served one hour after our booking time. Walk ins were admitted in spite of restaurant being fully booked and consequently delayed service. Food wasn’t great and ambience was poor.

Heard nothing but good things about this place so we thought we would book in for an early tea the food was lovely and the kids really enjoyed the play area what a fantastic place definitely glad we came

been staying in the area for work and was recommended this place been every night this week the food was amazing every time the staff were great very friendly and helpful Definitely be back when we next visit

Booked in for 4 of us last night and ordered off the 2 for £24 menu was very impressed with the portion size for a midweek menu expected smaller portions but that definitely wasn’t the case Would definitely recommend

The sun was out , and the pub and dining area were of course busy , with families and friends gathering to enjoy the weather, and pub . The pub on a Sunday serves a carvery , with three separate sizes of portions, This also equates to how many 'Meats' your allowed per person , myself and my friend both chose medium allowing myself two choices of meat and unlimited veg, and sauces etc. Firstly were the main bar and dining areas are situated is also the entrance to the carvery, which caused a lot of congestion, with people going different, places,, or wanting drinks or queuing for the Carvery, searching for seating also . As well as the very busy chefs, and staff continuedly replenishing great vats of gravy , mash veg etc. All crammed into one small opening . Now to the Carvery itself. The two meat rule, was a little disappointing, as i expected, a few slices of meat of my choice , but i got One slice of Turkey, and one slice of Gammon , neither that large. of course you could have as many veg and mash , roasties etc. And there was a great choice. My friend who is vegetarian, fared worse, they didnt have the Veggie choice she wanted, so she chose a rather dry looking and tasting pasta choice. The food was good for what you pay, but the lack of meat in the portions was a minus for me. and the layout of the dining area and carvery , was a little stressful. If your after something filling but busy its ok

Visited for a family meal, sat outside. Great food, clean gardens and good quality play area for the kids. 10/10 would definitely visit again.

We booked a table for 4 on a Saturday night 20th July we arrived at prescribed time to find a packed pub with what appeared to be a private party. No mention of this was made when we booked there was nowhere to wait nobody seemed to know what was happening and where we were to sit. After moving around trying to keep out of the way we decided to go elsewhere as it was obvious we weren't going to be seated soon. Also the music they were playing was overwhelming which wouldn't have made for easy conversation you almost had to shout to make yourself heard. Unfortunately couldn't try the food and we will definitely not be back.

Went for Sunday lunch today as this was recommended to us, but what a farce! Gave up waiting for queue to calm down and reluctantly joined the end. Staff struggled to get through with extra food & had to squeeze past with big pans full to the top to get to carvery. at one point a member of staff squeezed past me with dirty plates and knife fell on my foot!! 25 mins later we reached the carvery. Plenty of choice from roast meats to steak pies, lasagne, chicken nuggets etc. After queueing so long they had run out of gravy so had to wait even longer!! Big pan of what we thought was mushy stuffing was stood in front of gravy pan and had trails of gravy over it!!! My roast pork was lovely but my friend's lamb was dried out and she couldn't eat it. All veg was tasteless, cold and hard stalks on cauliflower & broccoli. Even gravy which we had to wait for was warm. Told member of staff when came to clear plates, who said she would pass onto the chef. I'm afraid it's too late for us as we'll not be returning. Carvery should be situated closer to kitchen, it's an accident waiting to happen!!!

Great experience, the food was spot on and the service top notch especially Toby (like the carvery 😂) made us laugh and feel at ease, will 100% be back

Carvery. It's totally the wrong way round. Chefs walking through the queue with hot food. One person on the Carvery. 50 minutes wait to be served. Won't be going back.

Great place to visit along the Tees.

Our daughter and son-in-law held their wedding reception for 35 people in the large conservatory at this country pub. Everyone agreed that food was very good and each course arrived when expected. The staff did a great job and Linda oversaw all the details such as bringing out the prosecco for the toast at the requested time and turning the background music off for the speeches. The weather was good, so this meant that the children in the party were able to use the lovely playground to the rear of the conservatory, and we could keep an eye on them. Parking was easy too. Thanks to Linda and her staff for helping to make this a wonderful day for the happy couple and their friends and family.

Thursday 23rd May...at 5.45pm....x4 of us arrived...greeted, seated and drinks ordered whilst we pondered over a delicious choice of menu...staff very attentive, eye contact and nothing a problem!!!!!... Just lovely tbh..... The food... well...😋😋😋 .. absolutely delicious... well done Chef....NO Cold Salad if served with a hot meal !!!!! Everything from service to delicious food and hospitality was just perfect 😋 and totally amazed at the bill with shorts wine and beers.we will be back again 100%

Table booked for 6 o’clock. Arrived at ten to 6. Staff did not know what table we were on so couldn’t but drinks on the bill. After listening to 2 members of staff having a heated conversation (very unprofessional) we were told to take a seat in the bar area, no tables had been cleared or wiped, food all over the seats and floor. We eventually got seated at our table at half 6, tried to order drinks which was a nightmare, eventually someone came to take order and at nearly 7 o’clock we were able to have a drink. We ordered food but it was pretty average for the price. I’ve had better food on the mid week menu. It was a Saturday evening and there definitely was not enough staff on it was absolute chaos. I definitely will not be visiting on a Saturday. again.

Sadly didn’t meet expectations. We booked for 6.30 and as we were a large party we preordered. Everyone arrived on time, staff confirmed we were all there, yet food didn’t come out till 7.20. It was clear some of the food had been cooked earlier and left under the pass, scampi was dry; lasagna overcooked; parmos barely touched the plate; lamb shank had a taste like old cooking oil. Service not brilliant, when a table is set with wine glasses, would expect these to be removed if not ordering wine. They only came for them towards the end when they’d run out of glasses at the bar! And parking is horrendous. Won’t be returning, sorry guys but need to do better

If I could put 0 stars I would. We had a table booked for 7:30 and we were told to arrive at 7:15 prompt, which we did. We then stood at the bar for 15-20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Eventually we were seated at 7:45. After that, orders were taken at 8:15. We then waited until 9:10 for food to arrive. Eventually finishing one course at 9:30. Our initial plans were to have two courses each (main & dessert) but due to the fact we had a 5 year old child with us and waited so long, we decided to leave so that she could go to bed. There was 10 main courses ordered and there were issues with all of them: - The rump steak was cold and like rubber and there was no steak knife. - Ordered curry and chips, there were no chips. - Burger was chewy and stone cold. - Fish that looked like a whale but turned out to be a goldfish (all batter). Not to mention that we weren’t asked for drinks at all. We had to keep going back to the bar ourselves. None of the staff asked us how are meals were and no one apologised for the wait whilst we were waiting for an hour. What we thought would be a lovely family gathering for my brothers 21st birthday, turned out to be an appalling pub experience and we will definitely not be coming back.

Favorite pub around the darlington area lovely views near the river, good park for the kids, a good pint of Guinness and the foods lovely aswel.

Only called in for a drink. Had a good make over, place looks nice. Will be going back for food soon

Midweek menu is great value for money and very nice. Will be back.

It was very busy at the time we visited 18.30 and service was a little slow because of this but the wait was well worth it by the food it was outstanding well worth the wait.

Service absolutely shocking, if you have a problem, they don't want to know. Dont bother trying to complain online, they just block you. Avoid here, the mowden, pennyweight, the bridge and spotted dog (kreft holdings)

Our first time at the Fox. Beautifully refurbished and a lovely atmosphere. The menu was amazing (including the dog menu!). We had the steak pie and the parmo, both were huge portions and absolutely delicious. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Plenty of parking. 10/10 from us.

The service was slow and understaffed. It took over 45 to receive food. Food was inedible. The burger was burnt and the Parmesan was dry. The background music was overbearing. The building itself was cold and unwelcoming. Would not return. On the bright side it's Dog friendly.

Having been let down badly at a nearby hotel, dropped in 40 mins. before service, they bent over backwards and we had the most excellent meal with impeccable service.

Excellent experience We booked the Fox and hounds to celebrate our Golden wedding with family and friends. There were 25 in the party and we pre booked our starters and main course. When we arrived we were in the conservatory and they had placed the tables in a horseshoe shape so we could all see and talk to each other.They had decorated the tables and set our cake on a small table ready for later in the evening. We had pre ordered our starters and main course to help to make it easier for the kitchen staff. The food was served quickly by a very pleasant and efficient staff.There were no complaints at all.One meal was slower unfortunately but this was explained that the chef wasn't happy with the quality of that meal so he cooked it again to perfection. The sweets were ordered on the night and my wife and I shared a crumble which was excellent and we were so full we couldn't finish it.Kaleigh the manager and her staff were very welcoming and friendly and the event went off brilliantly without a single complaint. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment and look forward to our Christmas day lunch which we booked at the end of our meal as we were so pleased.

Thought we would try the pub for Sunday Lunch as we live nearby. The waitress was very nice but apart from the starters the food was poor. Yorkshires were burnt, (not just ours) and beef over cooked and tough. Veg was okay. Environment bland, needs a refresh. Such a disappointment, we really wanted to like the place.

This place has really gone down hill, we have been away for a while and the general standard has dropped. The outer space has seen no TLC for some time ie grass is very overgrown and strewn with rubbish cigarette ends beer mats broken parasols plastic bottles etc etc. Some attention to detail is needed 😬

Popped in for a pint a shandy for the Mrs and x2 portions of chips for the kids . £18.50 seriously no wonder people stay in 🙆

We had a lovely meal recently at The Fox & Hounds. Me and my husband both had the parmesan, hot shot and stilton, both really nice, generous portions and lovely food. Service was really good, and even better when dog friendly. We have been going to The Fox & Hounds for a few years and will continue to do so.

Me and my partner Went here on the spate of the moment for lunch. Food was delicious. Staff where friendly. Lovely quiet little pub. It is definitely on our list of one to visit again.

Staff friendly enough, sadly I didn't get my correct food order, but it was remedied in my favor.

Went with sister who is vegetarian. She was struggling to find anything suitable so she asked if they could swap haloumi for normal cheese in a sandwich but the chef wouldnt allow it. To say no to such a small request seemed rediculous. Will be taking my custom elsewhere.

Great pub and location, wish they had a better lager on tap than Madri which is abysmal, there's a lovely beer garden which has lovely facilities for families with young kids. Or visit was brought to a premature end by some chavy local teens turning up on their bikes swearing noisily, using the kids playground and being generally annoying. Nothing much the pub can do about it if there's no facilities for kids in the area though.

Lovely meal, friendly staff, families welcome, small but more than adequate play area for kids. Food was good value even though meals prices have generally increased. Thank you and well recommended

Popped in for lunch on the spur of the moment. Good choice of food and very tasty. Attentive waitress and good value overall. Will definitely visit the next time I am in the area.
