Was pleasantly surprised when turning up to the room after reading terrible reviews, the room was clean and well kept and had the basics needed. It was worth more than the price we paid. Only negative I would say is carpark was full but there was parking on road.

My room was not properly cleaned and place was filthy. Advised as a premium room on. It had a garden table and dated and damaged furniture. Build up, cobwebs and mold every where. I refused to check-in and they refused to refund. The bar floor is stinking and so is the result of the house. Chef was stinking with no hat. Staff did not speak much english. I have reported the place to the environmental health department. You can see dead insects on the window sills. Staff do not have clean clothes on. Chemicals were kept on the floor not locked away. It was behind a badly painted yellow piano which is used as a desk. The do food which on justeat, however the chef went to the toilet and definitely didn't wash his hand because the sink was dry after I went in after him and his black uniform was stinking. They do not follow any regulations. Avoid this place at all cost. Read the other reviews. It says that owner is a con artist. I would agree. They are not paying vat and could not give a vat receipt and the owner has another restaurant apparently. They are not vat registered? I will be giving inland revenue a ring as well as trading standards and the EHO.

Horrible... Had worst experience staying in there. Not clean at all, entry through a restaurant downstairs. The place is a whole mess. Staff was not polite but pretend to be friendly for their advantage. There are rooms without shower and they came in our room for shower 😑. Did not even return the deposit for the dirty place. Never recommended.

I’ve been using them for decades but tonight I watched one of the chefs take food from a white bowl with his bare hands, put it in his mouth, and then spit it back into the bowl. He even saw me (a customer) before he did this. Won’t ever go back, I can’t after seeing that. Genuinely disgusted and the fact they don’t pay tax/cash only says a lot

Dog's Head StreetI have visited this pub at all times of day and night. Usually I’m on my own, but have never felt uncomfortable, despite being a lone female. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and I’ve yet to have a bad meal. Tonight I had battered prawns from the small bites menu and a side salad. The batter the prawns were in was to die for. So crispy and crunchy with really tasty prawns inside. If you’re not a big eater this was a perfect meal and was not expensive at all. I would definitely recommend this pub.
