Trattoria Romana in Ashford

Struggling for a venue for a girls night out where we could hear ourselves over any noise - this was a brilliant choice. Food was superb, Service was excellent and discreet - but the biggest surprise was just how busy it was on a Tuesday night in central Ashford - all venues around looked empty or only 1 or 2 tables occupied - that must give you an indication as to the quality of this restaurant. We will be back again - and thank you!

Amazing genuine Italian food, friendly and attentive staff that are not rushing you. Simple menu with a nice wine list to choose from. Do not let the decour decive you.

This lovely small restaurant is a delight to eat in. It has an old fashion charm about it, white linen tablecloths, impeccably dressed and charming waiters and the food was excellent. There were 6 of us in our party and we chose from a set menu of around 7 choices with a three course lunch costing £16.50 per person. Great value, great place will come again.

We went here for lunch today, Tuesday 25th June and it was amazing! The service and food is first rate and the atmosphere has a lovely feel to it. It was lovely to hear chatter instead of people looking at phones, I've been a few times now and I highly recommend it.

Good basic 70s style food but good portions and excellent prices. Lovely staff.

Fantastic food and service, great choice. The only drawback is their deserts. Presentation fantastic but expected more from tiramisu ( my favourite desert ever) , it's sort of watery & tasteless. I've tried my hubby's cheesecake and would say the same - not much taste either. Everything else as I said just delicious

We went for lunch today and had their set menu. The service was great as always they greeted us at the door and all the staff were friendly. The food was delicious it was so nice to see it busy at lunchtime on a weekday.

We had a set lunch menu lasagne had no layers was as flat as a pancake , pork milanese was also flat as a pancake and soggy so was left unfortunately no one asked how our meals were will not return

Overall we had a good evening meal here. The value for money is fantastic when doing the set menu. The drinks are also very reasonably priced. The service was also excellent. The portions are generous too. My main (sea bass) was delicious but I didn't much enjoy the starter (prawns) as I had expected something different. Having said that everyone enjoyed there meals. The restaurant was quite busy for a weekday evening which was nice to see.

This was our first time at this restaurant. However sadly it will be our last ! I booked for three people. On arriving they were confused as they had booked us in for four people. No real warm greeting. We ordered drinks and our meal. When it all arrived it seemed to be very much rushed. As we started our main course. We all said how awful the chips were. They really tasted strange! No one came to our table to ask if everything was satisfactory. I had to try and get a waiters attention. Not very successfully they both seemed stressed and rushed! Eventually I managed to get a waiters attention when we had nearly finished our meal. He did not seem at all concerned about our complaint about the chips. Just cleared our plates away. No apologies at all that the chips were awful and that we had left them. Another waiter immediately arrived with a sweet trolley. We asked to wait as it was too soon and rushing us into having dessert. No one came to ask if we needed more drinks. Although our wine bottle was empty. I had to keep trying to get the waiters attention as we wanted to order another bottle of wine The sweet trolley waiter returned and he rattled off all the desserts so quickly we had to ask him to repeat more slowly. He said he had chocolate gateau. Two of our party ordered it . However upon tasting it was black cherry gateau and NOT chocolate gateau.! It reminded me of school dinners, rushed, abrupt and almost thrown at us! Eventually I got a waiters attention who did not seem at all concerned, no apologies, no offer to put it right whatsoever! I was shocked to see we had been charged £11 service charge ! For very poor service, by rushed miserable waiters! We will not be returning!

We came here for my grandad‘s birthday and as a family have been to this place many times. The service is impeccable and the food is absolutely delicious, great value for money. A real hidden gem

This restaurant has been open forever. My very first taste of the Trattoria Romania was on a date when I was just 16 years old!! On my last visit, I treated my husband to a valentines meal, which was simply delicious. For me, I had the baked brie, I only needed one wedge, so I passed the other over, beef medallions to follow a.d an apple strudel for dessert. This trattoria is excellent value for money. Food is, as always, amazing. The waiting team is so warm and welcoming that I recommend here to everyone.

I have been going to this restaurant for 40 years! Hadn’t visited for a couple of years and went for lunch with an old friend. In an ever changing world it is comforting to know that some things don’t change. Great food great service from Kenny and his team!

Booked for lunch with friends . Two menus available but we did three courses set menu. The choices I could have chosen all. I had prawn cocktail for starters and one of the tastiest I’ve had . All our meal choices were different and all looked delicious. Service impeccable as always . Thank you and we’ll be back soon 🥰

Terrific Menu and Wine List, All Sensibly Priced and from Our Experience Great Value! First Class Italian Dishes, Good Portions, Well Presented and Delicious. Friendly, Professional and Attentive Staff. We Will be Back!

Don't be fooled by the outside of this restaurant. It's lovely inside. Service was impeccable food delicious and great atmosphere.

This place is amazing and does not change. They serve consistently good food. The service is consistently amazing and so so friendly. The dessert trolley is the best and they always accommodate a cheeky little profiterole with my homemade choice of banoffee pie or tiramisu. We have been going here years and it is always busy. Would definitely recommend this Italian. Also extremely good value for money.

You can’t find fault with this restaurant. The staff a polite and friendly. Service is impeccable. Food is freshly cooked and delicious. Pieces are more than reasonable. There’s something for everyone.

Saddens me to right this review because I always loved this restaurant We moved away years ago but were meeting old friends and booked a table for 8.30 When we arrived they had forgotten about our booking! As I said love the restaurant but having made a long journey to be there it was really really disappointing and didn’t even get a proper apology

My wife and our friend ,have used this restaurant,lot of times food ,as been good.but Saturday lunchtime she had prawn cocktail and prawns was still frozen.Then wife and her had fish,which at to go back twice ,because was cold.That was it,did have pudding .That's worse meal .and won't go back again.

Ordered a fillet steak. Was served a rump! Although was nice , tried to pass off as fillet. I work all over the uk and i know my steak! Wanted to kick off but my companion wouldn't let me, Never again!

visited on 27/11/23. had the set lunch menu, the food was, as always delicious, in particular the saute potatoes, the best ever. the staff were very friendly and efficient.

Popped in before seeing a show locally. It was just for a quick bite. Service was good but the main was poor. We ordered lasagne and it came with only two sheets of pasta and a very runny filling. No depth of flavour the Ragu was runny not much meat at all. I’ve never had lasagne like it and it felt like a ready meal. Garlic bread was little sub rolls with mozzarella also I bit strange. As it was just a quick bite we didn’t bother saying anything but if it was for a proper meal would have. We were in and out in 35min.

OMG! What a find, Went here for the first time with my father for. Special occasion Seated straight away, we had booked in. Bread brought orphan the table while we looked at menu. Really good menu. Pasta, vegetarians, veal, chicken, fish. Fantastic food portions. Most could be shared between two. We had a starter and a main and then saw the sweet trolley though we had no room left. Fantastic service. Cannot fault and we return and we will recommend. Just amazing.

Prachtig restaurant. Het eten was echt fantastisch. Voorgerecht soep van de dag (bloemkoolsoep) echt heerlijk. De bediening is vriendelijk en professioneel. Hoofdgerechten zijn met grote zorg gemaakt en zeer smakelijk. Nagerechten zijn qua presentatie en smakelijkheid geweldig. Dit restaurant staat zeker op onze lijst om vaker te bezoeken als we weer in Engeland zijn. TOP.

Pasta dishes are very tasty, although portion size is quite small. For an Italian restaurant to serve a finger bun as garlic bread was very unusual. Didn't fancy a sweet as they had sat on a trolley next to the bar all night

Went to this restaurant for the fist time. We had a fantastic meal. Had the set dinner menu and everything we had was presented well and tasted amazing. The service was excellent and the restaurant was very welcoming. We will be returning soon.

Such a wonderful meal. The service was great - friendly and quick. It was lovely to have complementary bread. I had the tortellini and each mouthful was amazing. The green salad was quite substantial and had a nice dressing. The black forest gateau was so light, I could have eaten the whole cake!

WOW !!!! what a find. The restaurant was buzzing with a real traditional 'old school vibe' (and that is a compliment). The staff friendly, engaging and efficient. A very good value set menu on offer alongside a very interesting al a carte menu. The food was first class, beautifully presented .... and oozed quality. The sweet trolley was a joy to behold !!!!

Lovely place & great service. First time I stepped by on Saturday evening, and there was not a single chair. Fully packed! On od the stuff member (although being crazy busy) came immediately, and just ca confirmed the obvious: fully booked. I came again on Monday (Sunday they are closed). And “oh, I remember you, please have a seat” was a fabulous welcome. On the top, one of the things that I Ordered did not meet my expectations. And they exclude or from the bill! Even I don't insist, I just didn't like it, but there was nothing wrong with the food itself. Strongly recommended. 4 for food - because the pasta I had was a bit overcooked.

Went with a group of friends. We had the dinner set menu, which had a variety of meat, fish and vegetarian meals and is good value. Food portions are good size, but it tasted very mediocre, so unfortunately it won't be my first choice for Italian. The service was excellent and desserts looked good, although we didn't have any.

Brilliant service and amazing quality produce. The lunch set menu is a steal for the quality of food offered here. We were looked after very well and the place was quite clean. The Italian vegetarian options were offered well and enjoyed the lasagne. The wine option by glasses could cover quite a bit more options, that was the only blip. Other than that, everything was fab!
