Was a little concerned when we entered a deserted restaurant but shouldn't have worried. The food was excellent, the host attentive and the chef delivered with some excellent seafood dishes. Terrific value for money....don't miss out on this little jewel!!!

Good evening! First of all, I want to inform you that the owners of Restaurant Trattoria are the most unserious people! In August we decided to go to this restaurant to talk about a special event in our lives (the christening party of our son). I asked them if they have free time on December 27th this year and they told us very calmly that yes, they also showed us pictures of what dishes they can prepare for us and that they are also available after hours (obviously for a fee - something with which I agreed). Plus they offered to help us with other things as well (the 3 bears, a photographer and the decoration of the restaurant). All good and beautiful so far. My wife gave birth on October 27, 2023 and two days after the birth, I started to send messages at the restaurant, to talk to the patrons one more time (as is normal) but no one answered. I'm just saying that we also made the baptism invitations and all that. In the end, they answer us today and tell us that they can no longer honor our agreement because apparently they have some problems with the cook and that they decided to be closed for the holidays. And when we asked them why they didn't answer us earlier, they said that they didn't know for sure what was going to happen, and especially that they weren't staying, sir, to look for us the new food that they had to prepare for the baptism on the day of Christmas and that the date I chose is a bad one. My question for them is: In August, when I spoke face to face with you gentlemen patrons, was the date I communicated to you no longer bad? They also have a fantastic trick to say that "You have one month and one week left until baptism, enough time to find another location." Cruel insensitivity. I promise you that I will give you negative publicity on all possible sites!!!

Four of us had a really tasty meal. Varied menu and fresh produce. Expected it to be busier. Excellent service.

Excellent food. Excellent host. This place stood out against the rest in the area and it didn't disappoint! The seafood platter was awesome. Generous portions with 100% fresh and tasty lobster, super tender octopus and the largest king prawns I've ever seen in my life. The spaghetti was so flavoursome too. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Colchester.

Me and my friends had such a lovely meal at Trattoria Cavalli, a must go if you like seafood! They went above and beyond to make me feel special on my birthday.

Large group and everyone absolutely loved their food. I had the lemon chicken and it was lovely. They made my friend feel very special for her birthday, friendly atmosphere and good service 😊

Dear God it was good. Walked in randomly off the street, sat down with no expectations and presented with a meal I will long savour. Beautiful cooking Sea bass and blueberry risotto, each element, takes time and skill to prepare and the combination was complementary with an eye catching colour rht I rarely experience in a savoury dish

Definitely a must for seafood lovers! I absolutely loved their dishes - so flavourful, fresh and delicious! The staff was friendly too! Prices were very decent! First time in place, but definitely not last.

„Generally disappointing“ is the best way to describe this place. Our starter plate was mediocre and cooked from frozen (ingredients from a frozen supermarket?). The pizza oven was broken, which meant 1/3 of the menu was not available; additional menu items were also not available. My main course (Talbot) was great but the rest of the dish fell below expectations. We had Nutella Crêpe with ice- cream, where the pancake was overcooked (stale and hard) and almost not worth eating. Sorry, but I won’t be coming back to this empty and outdated decor restaurant.

It was our first visit. Food was well prepared. One of the best seafood restaurants in town. The steak was cooked to perfection, it just melts in your mouth. Very pleased with our orders. You should try it out!

Great service and fabulous food! Highly recommend for anyone who loves seafood- they have a whole menu full! Seafood sharing platter was delicious and great value for a huge portion! Will be returning to try other dishes

Hidden gem. Recently opened restaurant that I've had my eye on as I love fish . Certainly wasn't disappointed. Great service. Big portions. Tasty dishes. Would highly recommend.

We went there last night surprised to see it was really quiet. Food was brilliant and Teddy the owner was great. We have eaten in most of the restaurants in Colchester and this up there with the best. I hope it gets the custom it really deserves and becomes a long established and successful business.

This was a wonderful find! A true Italian restaurant packed with the friendliest people. The food was the real suprise. So good. So fresh and with so much enthousiasme brought. A 10!

I can say only on thing . I had a dinner there with my friends and I can guarantee was the best dinner ever 100% recommended!!!!

What a hidden gem!! Fabulous seafood, indulgent dessert, wonderful service. This is what food should taste like. I understand it has new owners, revamped venue and can’t understand why not busier!? Visited during an office dinner and had an amazing night at this restaurant. The place is warm and cozy with a catchy vibe. No second thought on my food except for a crazy sour lemon drink that I had ordered as I wasn't warned beforehand.

Big portion, medium taste,great service,good atmosphere,menu its mixture can't really understand,can't recomand it to my friend's but i hope and wish them a good long success as the previous restaurant.

Came here as a work meal out ( Party of 10). Welcoming and supportive staff who couldn't do enough to make the occasion special. Food is amazing of exceptional quality (super fresh) and good sized portions. Great value for the level of quality party of 10 ...with 10% NHS discount was £230 with main + desserts throughout. Definitely want to return to sample more of the menu 🤌🤌🤌🤌

A newly opened restaurant, very personal service with a big plan , What’ a lovely little find , food was plentiful and delicious, very good value for the money , Owner was very Friendly, offered advice on what was good to eat and he didn’t disappoint.

Been here today, the restaurant got a fresh start, the food it’s amazing, at least from my point of view, portions are big enough for anyone, try to save some space for the desert, all freshly made in the house so you definitely know that you get 5 stars service, friendly staff and very engaged in making you feel special, will go again to make sure that will taste the whole menu. Well done
