Spectacular! A treatment of 10, Xavi and his staff are the bomb and I took with me a lifelong memory recorded in the Tranga, my son being Galician tried mussels for the first time in his life thanks to Xavi, in London, where else?? IN THE TRANGA!! A hug and eternal life to this piece of restaurant!!

We had a lovely meal, warm service, good wine and would return. Enjoyed every plate.

Very good tapas place, definitely recommended, cozy environment and some of the best croquetas i ever had. Just was not a huge fan of the salsichon, it was alright but I would say you can get something better on the menu for that price.

Lovely little restaurant. Not only was the food delicious but there were some completely new flavours for us to experience. And the wine list is interesting and affordable. Will definitely be back.

Wonderful place run by lovely people. We had a lunch here for around 15 people, after our small civil ceremony nearby. Marie was wonderful and so accommodating throughout. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and looked beautiful on the day. And the food is really exceptional, our whole family was raving (special shout for the mussles ). It's become a special place for us and we will certainly be back for regular trips over the coming years.

Not cheap, but damn good food. Great tasty food. Our favourite was the the lentil dish. The wine excellent.

Another fantastic meal at Tranga. The restaurant is small but wonderfully atmospheric and the food is brilliant. It’s a real Newington Green jewel.

Really delicious food and attentive and wonderful service. We went on a Wednesday night and I can’t believe it was quite empty - but it didn’t really take away from the experience. Plus they are dog friendly inside the restaurant. I look forward to coming again.

A special place! We had our dinner booked on a cold winter night and the venue couldn’t have been more inviting. Fairly lights, wood furnishings, well spaced yet cozy seating. You could just tell it was going to be a lovely evening. We ordered the courgettes, anchovies, tortilla, jamon and croquettes and honestly couldn’t fault any of it. Very tasty, well portioned, and arrived in good time. I can’t wait to come back for a summer lunch! I imagine with the large pavement it would be ideal alfresco dining.

A FIRM favourite. Such carefully thought out and tasty food and the wine is always fantastic. The staff are the right mix of helpful without being over attentive. The vibe is relaxed and if you’re there in summer sitting outside and eating al fresco you can’t go wrong. Couldn’t recommend more highly.

Tranga hosted a private wedding dinner for us for around 20 people on a Sunday afternoon in April - the venue is great, the food and drink were absolutely delicious and the staff were lovely and very accommodating.

Tranga organised a special birthday meal for a large table of us, the food (anchovies and golden beetroot especially) was delicious and such a romantic setting. Thank you for making our evening so special!

Local gem. Been various times now and always impressed by the menu which always has something classic and something unique to Tranga, plus their wine recs are spot on! A special place. The kindest team each visit with a great atmosphere!

We ordered pardron peppers, olives, tempura courgette, tuna tartar, ensaladilla, tortilla and lentil soup. The peppers and the courgette as well as the tuna tartar we were perfectly happy with. However, the ensaladilla was bland, the tortilla tasted off, and the lentil soup was both overly sour and salty. We could not eat any of these dishes. We are now at home feeling ill. We provided feedback and proposed a solution which was met with disregard and a shrug. Eventually we were able to have the service charge removed from the final bill but still had to pay for all dishes we weren’t able to eat. It was awkward, uncomfortable and we felt dismissed. We left feeling frustrated, nauseous and hungry.

Sat outside on a lovely sunny Friday evening with a friend and had the best meal I’ve had in a while. We ordered 4/5 plates and everything just tasted so genuinely good. The mussels were incredible. Loved the atmosphere and service. Would highly recommend and would definitely return.

Quite a few staple items were missing from the menu (tortilla, arroz) and we ended up ordering things we wouldn’t have ordered otherwise. We were surprisingly delighted by the morcilla, tuna tartar and the mackarel. Would definitely recommend

Amazing food and delicious wine! The tortilla & anchovies are incredible - the best tortilla I’ve ever had! The tapas classics are done to perfection and then there are also some more unusual dishes which were great to try. And to top it all off the people who work there are lovely! The seating on the street in summer is also amazing. We can’t wait to come back soon.

The perfect venue for a birthday dinner! Madi and the team were absolutely fantastic. I had a table of 16 booked and the team were helpful and attentive right from the first email. Madi helped to create a menu to match my groups dietary requirements and it was received extremely well! The food was exquisite and had us all desperate to come back to try more dishes. The service was incredible and every person felt so well looked after. The downstairs area is perfect for a private dining experience and definitely the best I have seen in London. I couldn’t recommend Tranga enough! Thank you so much!

Always delicious high quality food with an absolutely fabulous team who run the restaurant. Gorgeous ambience, love sunny afternoons outside or romantic dinners of an evening in. Highly recommended, a jewel in the areas crown.

As a Spaniard living in London, happy to say some of the dishes I have tried here (Tortilla) are even better to what I have back at home. The ambiance, service makes you feel at home, with a cozy and wholesome vibe that will literally make you want to stay all night.

Best Spanish food, best for atmosphere and the service is outstanding. The tortilla is absolutely delicious as is pretty much everything else I've ever tasted here. Go, you won't be disappointed.

Incredible food locally sourced. Staff were so friendly and welcoming with great suggestions. My partner is dairy free they were able to give great feedback on what they could have with a couple of off menu options that met their dieter requirements. I can’t wait to go back and make this a regular place we come back to with friends. The decor is super cute and the downstairs is a beautiful option for private events.

We went for dinner in the quiet time between Christmas and New Year. What can I say - it was fantastic and a lot of fun. The dishes may seem simple but the quality of the produce and the expert cooking meant that everything was delicious. Combine that with friendly, fun staff and good wine and you have a perfect night out.

We stopped in here unexpectedly and were delighted. The staff were fantastic; so warm and friendly and we had a wonderful, relaxed meal. The tapas was delicious. We had sardines, tomato salad, chorizo and tortilla. All were delicious and the wine was excellent. We felt very welcome and will definitely be going back.

I've a real soft spot for Tranga. Cosy and inviting on chilly, winter nights and perfect outdoor tables for when the sun's out. Expect seasonally changing small plates, with awesome Spanish produce at the heart of everything. Wine list is carefully put together with smaller growers a focus; less is more. Highly recommend!

We had the most wonderful diner at Tranga! Everything was just perfect: the food was delicious, Madi & James were so friendly and warm and welcoming and we sat outside on a quiet little square on a beautiful summer's eve. It was heaven and we can't wait to come back! Our new favourite local spot.

Been coming here for years (though it used to be called trangallan so not 100% sure if it has changed owners). Back in 2014 it would have got 5 stars from me. Great little place, inventive and authentic tapas, nice atmosphere. We went back after a few years away. We found the menu less impressive and more anglicised than it used to be (a shame for us, but probably a benefit for some others), the service also let down which we put down to them packing in tables (including outside) meaning that they couldn't give folk their full attention. Stand out dish was morcilla with egg yolk. The chorizo was also nice. Still a good place, but not serving up the excellence of days gone by.

I did my wedding reception there and it was absolutely perfect! If you need a place for an event I 100% recommend Tranga to do it! Food is SOOOO GOOD! The staff is amazing and the place is unbelievable!

The food is good, but unfortunately I think the portion sizes have gotten even smaller. We paid £15 for two pieces of asparagus wrapped in a piece of bacon. We were hopeful of it being a local neighborhood place we could visit often but unfortunately won’t be able to justify the cost. If you’re looking for a nice meal for an occasion, this could be a good spot to consider.

Sensationally overpriced. £60 for 2 and felt that we’d barely eaten but didn’t want to order any more because of the bill we would have racked up. You could go to a Michelin starred restaurant and eat more and better for that money. We like tapas and are used to small plate prices but couldn’t believe the £15 tuna tartare or the £5.50 side salad which was literally just some badly dressed leaves. They also overcharged us on the bill and my wife found a hair in her food. Really disappointing.

Thoroughly lovely place through and through! My partner and I emailed to reserve a table for a post-wedding meal a few weeks ago. We were offered the entire space and loved the very personal experience we received. The most delicious food and wine and fantastic value for money. The right level of friendly and sincere service. Would highly highly recommend and am very grateful to Madi and Xabi for adding to our day and making it as special as it was.

Tranga never disappoints. The food is absolutely delicious, made with so much care and attention to detail....and imagination. The wine list is short and interesting and they really know their stuff. I'd happily take any of their recommendations. I am so lucky to have it in my neighbourhood, I've been coming here for years. it is one the best things about living in Newington Green. ❤️❤️❤️

Stumbled across this place on a walk past Newington Green and had a fabulous sunny weekend lunch with a pal. Every dish was delicious but the tortilla was 👌 we weren't sure about the natural wines but the staff suggested a couple of options which were brilliant! Will definitely be back again soon!

The amount of food served was an absolute joke. We ate a pizza at home after been in Tranga Market because we were super hungry. I'm Spanish and this is not a spanish food experience. I would never go back to this place.

What a delightful Spainish eatery! Exceptional flavours and ingredients alongside warm and friendly staff. The eclectic style of the interior and furnishings add to the overall expereince. Tranga Market doesn't offer the 'Tapas' that us Brits expect but gives you a true and traditioanl taste of the real Spain with their creative twist. Their wines are super tasty too. Highly reccommend.

Spanish tortilla to die for. Absolutely epic indie, local joint. Exactly the kind of place i'd love in my neighourhood – lucky Newington Green folks! Service the right mix of casual and capable. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed a date here, and I've been back myself for more tortilla and a cold beer. Will be back – with friends

This place is easily one of my favourite restaurants in London. They've reinvented themselves time and time again throughout the toughest of times and kept a smile on their faces. I'm so happy we can now get back in to the restaurant to eat their food. You will be hard pushed to find better tapas for such great value anywhere in London. That tortilla!!! What on earth goes in that aoili??? Oh and please keep that pork dish on the menu. Also make sure you talk to the staff. Their knowledge of food, wine, Spanish history (and some Scottish history) is fantastic. You'll be sure to learn something new.

Love the fresh produce that Tranga have been selling through the lockdown!

The food is tasty, the pricing and portion sizes are so off, it's offensive... see the picture: a sandwich the size of a beer can for £8 (before delivery costs). I was also keen to support them through lockdown too and had booked a table for two with my partner. Unfortunately we had to cancel as our puppy got sick (we gave 6 hours notice as soon as we knew, tried to be considerate...) but got charged for the cancellation. I normally never leave reviews like these for small businesses but this tiny sandwich was the cherry on the cake for me.

4 small slices of bread = £4 ... that gives you the idea. After spending £55 me and my partner were still hungry. The food is tasty but the mains (£9 to £12) had a “tapa” size. You’ll need at least 3-4 to feel satisfied. If all in all you want to waste tour money, try the croquetas con jamón or pulpo a la gallega. Oh! And remember they’ll charge you for the service by default, so add 12.5% on top.

What was Trangallan has adapted after lockdown and during Covid to slightly change its menu and offer items alongside dining in such as some fresh groceries and a few takeaway lunch options. It still counts with the same excellent cooking, produce and friendly staff. Homeworkers’ lunch includes a ‘bocata de tortilla’, a freshly made Spanish omelette with padrón peppers in bread (in the photo) or a paella with salad, eat in or takeaway. Menu still offers classic tapas such as croquetas alongside some different specials, and of course sherries and wines. And the tortilla here is still indisputably the best I have ever had (inside or out of Spain)!
