Lantana Cafe in Islington

We had an excellent brunch with coffee on Sunday (24 March). All was delicious. Dishes are clearly made by a well trained team. I complemented the staff on my way out and was told that the 3 Lantana restaurants are still under the wing of the same family. Lovely.

The food is high quality and a great range of options. I enjoyed seeing chicken salt on the potato gems. It was a nice atmosphere but unfortunately the service was a little cold which was more egregious due to the 14% service charge.

Excellent restaurant with perfect service. We came on Mother’s Day 2024 and we had a perfect experience. Bottomless brunch with desert. Excellent choice for us!

It's worth noting that if one person on your table gets a bottomless brunch option, everyone must get one. I can't find this listed on the website or displayed in the restaurant, and it means the difference between 1 meal + 1 drink and the alcohol free bottomless is about £20 extra for what is already expensive, bang average food. I wouldn't say it's worth the money at all.

Good food taste and vibe at weekend brunch time!

Oat cappucino was spot on, the hot chocolate was one of a kind, but most importantly, my guest and I had a very pleasant and comfortable time, thank you, especially to the scottish waiter who made us laugh really hard.

The food is delicious, there is not much choice but everyone will find something for themselves, the staff were so tired of life that they could barely walk around the room, no interest at all.... a very big surprise was the horror receipt, which included a 14% tip included, which In my opinion, it was not adequate and too excessive

Great location, excellent pedestrianization. We came across it by chance while frequenting one of the rapidly developing urban areas (Cellini, Arc,...). Quality coffee shop not combined with a croissant/pastry shop of equal quality. Kind and empathetic staff. See you again for sure!!

I had high hopes for breakfast here after loving the Fitzrovia location. I ordered the corn fritters which were dry and stale, with a side of mushrooms (for an extra £4.50)! My friend ordered the beef hash which, to be honest tasted like beef cooked in a Heinz BBQ sauce. The coffee was excellent, but sadly the food a let down.

Coffee was disgusting. I took one sip and had to throw it out. Same with the person I was with. We are both Aussies who went there cos it billed itself as an Aussie cafe but it is so bad that even the Costa coffee would be better than that! Bitter, badly brewed and obviously nothing like proper Aussie coffee! The Chinese barista gave me a look when I asked for caramel and said “we don’t do that” as if they are all superior but then the coffee was so terrible I have no idea what they have to feel superior about. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I had a share for two, and lamb balls which neither of them were motivating and nice, which was abit disappointing giving the location ans nice service.

Came here for a work breakfast and it was phenomenal. The menu is incredible, so many good options to choose from, and the food came out quickly. Will definitely be coming back!

Anna is an absolute legend! She made our experience 100%. We came for bottomless brunch and she made us feel so welcome and made sure our glasses were full so we got our money’s worth! She’s a credit to your team. Anna knew the menu like the back of her hand and helped us pick the best dishes also! 10000% recommend. Thank you so much Anna!

A lovely place with a peaceful atmosphere. The waitress was polite and patient. Overall, that's a great place for breakfast on a rainy day.

I remembered the food was nice when I last visited the Fitzrovia branch. However old street branch was not up to expectation with overpriced menu and service charge.

I don't write reviews much, but the bar is getting so low in London that I was very pleasantly surprised by how great Lantana was! We went early (9:30am) on a Saturday, so it was quite quiet but got busier as time went on. The service was great - attentive but not annoying - the food lovely and very filling, and even the toilets were spotless! There's not many places I don't resent for having a service charge over 10% (and it's a pretty eye-watering 14% here) but I'd probably have left that much even if it hadn't been added already.

On cherchait un bon brunch à faire dimanche et c’est chose faite ! Le café est très bon, à l’image des cafés australiens. Côté plats salés, nous avons également bien mangé, c’était savoureux. J’ai trouvé dommage qu’il n’y ait qu’un choix de plat sucré par contre, ça manque de variété !

Pluses - Tasty food and accommodated our party at short notice Minuses- waitress brought the wrong order for me and when the plate was returned I realised it was missing an ingredient, the waitress then said quite dismissively 'oh did you still want that' which soured the experience somewhat -fine to make a mistake but not to follow it up with an attitude

Delicious breakfast, coffee and fresh juices. The corn fritters with egg and chili jam were fantastic.

The staff were lovely and the ambience was ok. Everyone that I went with seemed to enjoy their meals but I had the nasi goreng which wasn't flavourful at all and I got the kimchi as an add on which actually tasted bad so I had buyers remorse after getting it. I like kimchi generally and I've tried many different versions but this was the worst I've had. It was especially regretful because the prices were steep and I could have made something better at home. On a positive note the iced oatmilk latte was delicious. The bloody Mary was ok.

Quite expensive for what you get with the full English at £18. For this price I would expect more fresh ingredients/veg, and 2 eggs instead of 1. Mushroom wasn't great. Coffee was good.

I appreciated that the restaurant allowed us to book a table for more than 10 people, unlike other places. The food was decent, and the staff was extremely polite and friendly. Thank you very much!

The Wild Mushroom was so flavourful and filling. While it’s on the pricier end, the portions are large and satisfying. Great breakfast/brunch place with great service!

I’m writing this review on behalf of my partner. He had the short rib bbq hash and he does not say this lightly but said it was the best brunch he’s had in his life! The pickled jalapeños were a lovely touch and he honestly can’t stop talking about it. I had the salmon teriyaki salad bowl and it was good but obviously a bit bummed I didn’t get the same as him!!

Lovely local spot in the financial district that I popped into while on mini holiday in London. The coffee pour over was amazing and well worth the wait. Smooth and lovely. The Turkish eggs with halloumi was outstanding. The flavors mixed so well. It was very satisfying and a far cry from the traditional breakfast I was thinking to order. The waiter recommended this flavor explosion and he was spot on. I took a picture for all you folks but couldn’t help digging in right away.

This place was fantastic. 3 people, 3 meals, 3 rave reviews. Great food!! Lovely staff & service. My only minus is it’s a little on the expensive side. I think adding 1 sausage or 2 slices of halloumi or a couple pieces of streaky bacon @ £5 a piece is bit ridiculous.

Healthy and hearty breakfast in the heart of Shoreditch. You’ll need to make a booking on weekends as it gets busy! Love the Turkish eggs with Lamb koftas and the smashed avocado. Corn fritters are good here too!

Such a great menu and lovely space. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. I'm not normally a brunch person, but this place is more than just your average brunch place.

The Lantana katsu was amazing! The chicken was perfectly breaded and fried, and the sauce was delicious. The service was also great, and the atmosphere was perfect for a sit-down meal.

Hit this place up for lunch with three other colleges. Food was tasty, service could have been a bit more attentive, but realise it was peak lunchtime. Nice atmosphere with a chilled vibe. Will come again.

I booked the Bottomless Brunch to celebrate my friend's 40th birthday, and our experience exceeded our expectations. Firstly, our glasses were never empty during our slot. The staff were incredibly responsive, patient, kind, and friendly. The food was not only delicious but also filling. I highly recommend Lantana for a fantastic brunch experience.

The actual staff were very friendly. My biggest is with the price of the no alcohol bottomless brunch. It's pretty steep and if you drank enough coffee /juice to get your money's worth you'd have no room to eat any food. Otherwise the food was really nice

In search of coffee and a lunch this venue is surprisingly larger on the inside with indoor and outdoor seating and a great selection of food for a range of tastes .coffee was lovely though for an Aussie styled venue they serve flat whites London style.will will keep it on my list for if we are passing and in search or a break and some great food

Nice brunch spot, lots of different options on food and juices. Coffee is really nice too. Great efficient service from Ashley - our table had quite a few different needs from allergies to specific orders and she accommodated us throughout. Also great allergy menu with allergens highlighted red for an easy read

Outside they have more tables and is a nice spot if there is no wind. Like today. But they have insanely awkward folding tables that are very uncomfortable to sit at. Major fail.

Excellent food, friendly service

The food is good. However they put the service charge at 14% instead of the classic 12.5% without mentioning anything, and I discovered it only after paying because you know, no one would expect anything like that. Not a nice move. But it seems to be allowed, so next time I'll be there I'll just ask to remove it completely, because it seems to be allowed too. EDIT for the answer: that's just a lie, the 14% was never mentioned before ordering.

Had brunch here twice in the last few weeks (after a Barry’s session). The food was excellent both times, interesting take on brunch dishes with something for all tastes. Knocked one star off as the crowd was a little weird on the Sunday morning - lots of people with suitcases which made it feel like an airport and a baby nearby that was making it’s life work to make as much noise and mess as possible

Went for lunch for my birthday. It was so delicious!!! I had the duck salad, I will definitely be going back. The staff were so friendly and kind I really liked them They are Really good with dealing with food allergies and intolerances The duck salad was one of the best salads I've ever had. Mouth watering!!

Sweetcorn fritters were too thick, tasteless and unseasoned. Very expensive for what it is, would not go back.

Dropped in for a working lunch with colleagues. Service was super prompt, so it's a good option if you want a sit-down lunch spot - but are pressed for time. Everything we had was decent. The halloumi fries absolutely heavenly though - would highly recommend Total price came up to around £25 per person. Worth a visit.

My daughter treated me to brunch - First time here. The food and service were on point. The servings were huge (no complaints from me) 😋 We would definately return and recommend. A busy spot, so always good to book beforehand - you will not be disappointed 👍🏽

Just popped in for a light breakfast. 2 eggs and 2 bacon strips and orange juice. It was great. Eggs perfect and bacon crispy. Service with a smile. For one thing, I can say I love salt. The salt they use took me straight to the seaside memories in South africa. Long lasting taste. Very odd to comment on salt but I really enjoyed it. I was on my own, but did not feel lonely. Really 👍

Great food good service, really good experience.

Nice food but pretty steep prices. I had the corn fritters and while they were nice, the dish was £16.50 and you only get two fritters and some bacon - that's a lot of money. For two people who only had a main and two black coffees each, we left £50 which I think was too much for what we got. The food is tasty and the staff is very friendly but with these prices, I had definitely had more exciting brunch options before. Nice to try out for a special occasion though!

Nice Australian restaurant with fresh food in Shoreditch. The staff were very understanding when we moved our reservation back a few times and the service was great! The PBD smoothie was especially delicious.

Came here on a Sunday morning having made a reservation before and was glad we did as it was full when we got there. Ordered the bubble Benedict while my friend had the smashed avocado toast with roast tomatoes and they were both great. Good portions and very tasty. We then ordered the sticky toffee pudding and warm chocolate brownie to wrap up our brunch. We stayed there for 2.5 hours and not one moment did we feel we would be kicked out soon since we were there for so long. Cappuccino was strong enough for me too without a sour aftertaste so really good experience all around!

Delicious australian authentic brekkie with excellent coffee

I ordered duck hash. It tastes good and good presentation, but there is very little duck and a lot of potatoes. Not good value for money. The staff is kind but the whole restaurant is so noisy, which was quite stressful. We could barely hear each other even at the same table.

Place was busy, but found us a spot quickly. Excellent menu options. Food tasted great. Will come again!

Lantana Shoreditch used to be one of my go-to brunch places but unfortunately I won’t be visiting again. There’s a 14% discretionary service charge which I haven’t seen anywhere else in London and an average plate now costs between £13-15 which is way too much for what you get.

I liked most of their food, but to be honest I prefer other restaurants...

Got the croissant french toast and added bacon. The french toast was delicious, however the coffee cream felt a little bit out of place with the pear.

Good and interesting breakfast options. Had the smashed avo toast thingy with bacon. Good size portion. Great for an early (biz) breakfast... quiet and lots of seats available. Friendly staff.

Such a friendly brunch spot! I had the wild mushrooms on sourdough and really enjoyed them. Attentive service too - we did the bottomless brunch, and my glass was constantly topped up! There are a few other vegan options on the menu too, so I would definitely like to come back and try these! Edit: I have since looked to return here and not drink alcohol, whilst the rest of my group plan to. I think it's quite outrageous that to do bottomless, the whole group has to be involved, and the non-alcoholic version is only £5 cheaper! Please rethink this, as £35 for one brunch item and unlimited juice and tea is ridiculous. Because of this, I have for now reduced my rating to 3 stars.

FAO vegetarians! I went for lunch with a friend this weekend and we both ordered the nasi goreng - he ordered the chicken version, and I ordered the tofu and mushroom version as I don't eat meat. When the waitress came to bring our meals to the table, she checked who had ordered which and put them down in front of us - sadly she had got them mixed up and I didn't think to check which one I had (assumed she'd given me the correct dish) before I took a massive bite of chicken (disguised by the fried egg on top). I haven't eaten meat for over 2 years so I was quite upset by it, mentioned it to the waitress and she apologised but asked if everything else was alright, we said yes. Eating the surprise chicken had totally spoiled my meal though, so when the bill came I told her I was surprised they hadn't discounted our meal bearing in mind that I'd just unwittingly eaten meat for the first time in over two years. She was visibly irritated and asked the manager, who agreed to knock off the price of our drinks (two smoothies - £10 total). I didn't argue, and even paid the discretionary 14% discretionary service charge, but walked away feeling like this was inadequate, and feeling upset by how irritated the waitress was that I'd raised this. The food itself was okay but nothing special (though as mentioned it was somewhat spoiled by this experience) and felt overpriced for what it was. Don't think I'd go back.

Corn fritters were so tasty! And the bottomless brunch was superb (flowing prosecco!). The only thing that would have been good to have a prewarning about was that the time had booked for couldn't be fulfilled (because of the restaurant closing, which we didn't realise/were still allowed to book). Would have been good to know ahead of time!

We just popped in to have eat not knowing about their menu . And we were satisfied. Delicious, a bit spicy. And good glass of wine.
