Menu was very tempting but as I was catching a train for work I opted for the Small Breakfast. Service was friendly and fast. Food was well cooked and well presented. Definitely going here again. Looking forward to having a try at the Station Master breakfast when I don’t have to go to work!

We have visited this lovely cafe numerous times for breakfast over the past year, and on each occasion we have really enjoyed the cooked breakfast. Our most recent visit was this morning. Service is always fast and friendly even when it’s busy as it was this morning. The homemade cakes, quiches, filled rolls and pies always look nice too. This cafe is definitely worth a visit if you want good food at decent prices. We will keep returning and supporting this small business

Popped in on the off chance of getting served, luckily for us there was a train strike. Pleasantly surprised with the interior, roomy and clean with friendly staff. Varied menu for the hungry Horace’s and the lightweights. The lady front of house was very obliging offering to swap one of the breakfast items for an alternative. Only a short wait for delivery of our ‘Railway’ breakfast. It was delicious. Had a quick chat with the lady who cooked it, who was obviously passionate about working in the cafe.

POOR QUALITY OVER PRICED! Poor quality ingredients especially the sausage! Everything cooked in deep fryer - mushrooms, sausage and black pudding all deep fried. Absolutely grease bound even the toast was freezer burnt. Bacon so salty.... very friendly lady on service.

Called in Tuesday morning to get a sandwich for my journey home on the train. Had a huge sandwich made to order, reasonably priced and prepared to order and served with a smile. Looking at the menu, there are plenty of good value options here. Even at 8:30 there were half a dozen breakfasting. If you’re catching a train you’ll get a freshly made sandwich here for half the price you’d pay on the train for one that’s like as not been prepared the day before at least.

Unbelievable. This cannot be owner managed. What business would specify a 12:45 closing time but refuse to serve food after 12:25 ‘Cos we’re closing’. And then the door onto the platform is locked at 12:30. Their loss. The Rat Race gains. They clearly don’t need my business - and I won’t trouble them again.

How many times have I caught a train from here. I am usually armed with my McDonalds or Subway but had run out of time. I darted in-and 3 toasties and a chicken curry arrived in 10 minutes for under £14. Excellent value for money and, when we got on board found 5he taste was excellent as well. Memories of old BR cafes long forgotten. This may be like a ‘greasy spoon’ but it is a very good one indeed- and to think I had been past it so many times without noticing.

Must say that the ladies who run this café are lovely, friendly and very welcoming. I tend to judge a breakfast by the quality of the ingredients and I'm afraid on this point I had to mark this meal down. The sausage in particular was, sorry ladies but no other word but awful would cover it. It was one of those perfectly round, straight sausages that you know has come off some production line. Very smooth texture of a meat that has been ground to within an inch of its life and looked more like a smooth pate than chopped pork and covered in a synthetic skin. Sadly one bite was enough to confirm my fears. The rest of the 'big' breakfast comprised one slice of bacon. one egg, a few beans, a small slice of black pud and half a dozen pieces of mushroom with a slice of white toast. My wife's choice was sausage two eggs and beans but given the previous comments on the sausage you can guess the outcome. Lovely cup of tea. As the whole lot came to less than a tenner it would be churlish to complain however not an experience we will be repeating.

Visit relative in Hartlepool, albeit not oftenHave tried this café on the last two occasions (last being just two weeks ago)Food quality - excellent...hot and quality ingredientsService - excellentVery cleanPrice - exceptional....for example, compare the bacon buns (3 rashers of bacon)for £2...on the train (Grand Central) £4 for 2 rashers in a baguette and then often cold / part warm and has to be returned ! By two groups of people in our carriage on last train journey alone !Major problem.....it now seems it so well known for cost and quality that very difficult to get a table !!! Get in early...it really is worth it.

Cleanish but not spotless. I had the full breakfast priced £3.99 which consisted of Bacon, sausage, egg, mushrooms, black pudding, tinned tomatoes, and fried bread. All the ingredients were cooked reasonably well. However the ingredients were probably the cheapest available. Sun newspaper betting pages on table which says everything. Seemed to have a few older people as all day customers which they need to get rid of. Ideal if you want to spent 2-3 hours with a cuppa working out your bets. There are better cafés in Hartlepool and this one comes low down in my catering list.Good point- Food was served fast. Bad point - clientele

I stopped in the nearby Travelodge which didn't have a restaurant so needed breakfast. All the eating places at the nearby marina didn't seem to open until late in the morning. As I had a train to catch I couldn't wait around so visited the Trainstop Cafe. It's on Hartlepool Railway Station and is a traditional down to earth (some would say 'greasy spoon') cafe.It was quiet when I was there as it was early. All the staff out the back but I didn't know to press the buzzer for service (an impatient train users behind me pointed it out). The menu is tiny with all the normal 'English' quick service fare such as chips, beans, pie, egg, chips, sausages, beans, pie, bacon etc, etc. .I ordered the full English breakfast £3.99 (only this option apart from the breakfast on a bun). Didn't disappoint. The quickly delivered meal was classic with great fried bread and nice runny egg. Couldn't complain. Asked for tea at £1 and got a pot that delivered practically 3 cups worth. What a bargain! A very handy little place to eat, and cheap too. I wish most railway stations had cafes like this rather than really expensive chains. Friendly staff, nice and clean. Worth a look if you are ever waiting for a train in Hartlepool.

The ambience is best described as no-frills, but the service is friendly and prompt, and the bacon sandwiches are out of this world - a generous amount of freshly-cooked, good quality bacon in a lovely, soft bun. I don't know how they do it for the price. The perfect prelude to a train journey - infinitely better and much cheaper than the microwaved offering available on the train!
