Trading Post Coffee Roasters in Brighton and Hove

Sadly if you think you could have a nice organic coffee. Yes you can and still good and taste but plugger doesn’t work on the ground floor. I used to come down to change in stead to have to go to Library every day. Gladly in others shops all works perfectly.

Very good, friendly place to drink tea or coffee

Myself and Partner visit Brighton on a regular basis. This was my second visit to Trading post coffee the first was in the North lanes on a Sunday morning and ordered 2 coffees after 15 mins we asked the staff where the coffees were for them to then go make the coffee? We thought it was a one off how wrong could we be… trying again to the ship lane branch to have brunch at 11:30 on a Friday we paid £32 for eggs Benedict, maple pancakes, latte and apple juice. The drinks arrived after 10 mins with the latte all down the cup. As we watched people turn up sit down and receive their food I called over one of the waiting staff to ask if there was a problem. We had been waiting 30 mins at this point. I was told a few minutes. 15 mins later we received the information that the chef had but the sauce on the eggs is asked for it on the side. If we hadn’t already paid and we were both hungry I would have walked out at this point! After an almost 50 min wait we received the food that was ok nothing to write home about. Service is terrible 3 chefs working blatantly forgotten our order no apology no third chance given here. Avoid at all costs!

Came here for brunch. The coffee was ok but I would not recommend the food. I had halloumi and poached egg on pita, the pita was the worst pita I’ve ever had (basically a slab of dense chewy dough) the avocado on top of it tasted spoiled, the poached eggs were completely overcooked. Avoid!

Overall good coffee, food and experience, but no WiFi is a shame as the building reduces data connectivity to rely on 4/5G only. It was a challenge to send this review or download the TP app and had to go and get a better connection.

Good chai latte, but no wifi and dry service

Trading post is a Brighton staple but this is definitely the best store to visit. Food is good and lots of choices.

Went into the trading post for a sweet treat & saw they had a plant based Pain Au Chocolat (score 💪) Really tasty coffee & great vibe. We went at peak time on a sunday, so there was a slight wait on the coffees, but the staff handled that very well & kept all customers informed on the wait time ❤️

I ordered the full English breakfast, a bacon sandwich, a cappuccino and a black Americano. Coffees were absolutely fine. English breakfast was missing the tomato’s and the bacon sandwich was probably the worst one I’ve ever eaten. Bacon must have been cooked on a radiator and a whole tub of butter must have been used to butter the bread. Would not recommend getting that sandwich.

We stopped here for a coffee, we ended up with cake too. The coffee and biscoff cake was 10/10 a little pricey, £16.90 for two coffees and two slices of cake, if they hadn't been so good I would have been angry about paying that. I felt that the whole place could do with a deep clean and I'm not sure if it was just an off day but the staff were really miserable, the man that brought out coffee and cake didn't say a word even when we said how nice it looked and thanked him for bringing it.

Excellent food, seating options, and variety on the menu. Come here for coffee solo or with a group, or enjoy a great meal. Food is fresh and tasty, seating both up and downstairs in booth stools, tables, or counter space. Love the place.

sat here to wait and drink my tea and the employee daisy was so sweet and funny made my welcome 10x better you need to give her a pay raise!!!

I didn't eat here and only had coffee but can't fault the coffee and decor. It is one of the biggest coffee shops and has a nice relaxed vibe. Always very busy

Really good coffee there. Nice selection of teas. Tasty food well cooked. The place has two levels and an outside area where people can sit. Just go to the counter to place your order and then take your number and find a table. Just wait and the staff will bring your order to the table. Reasonable prices for their portions. Just like to go there, get a tea or coffee and write down some memories. It's really good in there.

The all day Breakfasts served cold, for both of us, except for the mushrooms both had to be returned to the kitchen. Just as well, as we weren't provided with cutlery either. It was very busy, but customer care slipping.

My current favorite coffee shop in lanes. Great and consistent coffee. Lovely professional staff!!!

Optamos por el buffet, y la comida era muy sabrosa, con la ventaja adicional de poder tomar las sobras en cajas para llevar para la oficina al día siguiente! Las porciones eran más que generosas, y todo el mundo estaba muy contento y satisfecho con nuestro buffet de Navidad. Teníamos la planta baja para la comida, y el bar de arriba estaba dirigido por un personal encantador, muy servicial y encantado de ayudar durante toda la noche. Todo el mundo era amable e hizo todo lo posible para acomodar a más de 50 huéspedes. Había un montón de opciones de bebidas, incluyendo opciones sin alcohol, cerveza de barril, cócteles, vinos y prosecco. También contratamos a un DJ y un photobooth, ambos tenían mucho espacio para montar, y estaban muy contentos con el lugar también. Sin duda volveremos para otros eventos, esta fue una de nuestras fiestas navideñas favoritas. Lo recomendamos totalmente. Had our Christmas party here - some people were sceptical but it was so good. Food was amazing, bouncer was SO good and so funny, dj was amazing. They made the space so different and so festive you wouldn't even think it was a coffee shop in a million years. Bar staff were fantastic as were managers especially Ellen and Patrick. Thank you so much had such a great night

Brilliant. So we just had our Christmas party here tonight, I could not recommend more. Patrick and Ellen were fantastic and the rest of staff. The food and the facilities were perfect, our jewellery company had the best Christmas do here in a long time for price that was ridiculously good value to past do’s, strongly recommend to anyone wanting to organise any event with a group from 20-60. Perfect.

I pop in to TPCR on ship st every morning at 8am the staff are just fabulous,even at 8am they are chatty & so friendly all while making my coffee [their coffee choices are awesome my recommendation is black pearl] & food orders they are a great team providing great service 👍👍

Excellent flat white and hot chocolate! They really go all out to ensure your satisfaction. The managers are so polite and welcoming. The service is outstanding especially Sam who is the best at his job, very patient, and does his all to ensure the customer is satisfied. Thanks very much.

Apparently unless you stipulate they assume you would like the most expensive coffee brand. So I was charged £3.90 rather than £3:40 for my flat white. I complained and received my 50p. The prices behind the till clearly state £3:40 Surely this is illegal?

Coffee is good, smooth and in reasonable price. The location is good, in the lanes in Brighton, across the road from The Ivy Asia and TK Maxx. 3 minutes walk from Church Square shopping centre. It was very busy on Sunday afternoon, we have to wait 15 minutes for our coffee. The Cinnamon cake is a little bit dry.

Always great place for catch-ups and coffee or brekkie. Also, cakes are lovely. Staff is super friendly!

Always stop here for a pick me up they have a nice selection of sweet treats and savoury too if that’s your vibe. They have high quality coffee and matcha and a great outdoor seating area. Definitely a great place to enjoy a morning coffee or afternoon with friends.

Sometimes at coffee places, when you ask for a plain black coffee, you tend to get a coffee that's just too dark and bitter. This place makes amazing coffee to the point it's just beautiful to sip on a nice, black coffee without struggling to finish it because it's too strong. I'm terrible at explaining, but you get the gist, beautiful coffee and the strangers food next to me on the other table looked delish!

Expensive, grumpy service. But good espresso so it cancels out to a 3/5. The food was expensive and I think not worth it and disappointing, but again good coffee.

Ordered a full breakfast and black coffee. The cutlery was filthy. Whilst the food was pleasant the poached egg was cold and uncooked in the middle. Also deconstructing a breakfast before you can eat it is painful. I used to love this place.......no more

The majority of the people who serve are professional and friendly, but on Thursday 26th Sept the young woman behind the counter had a miserable face and attitude. Hence 4 stars

Queríamos un buen desayuno en nuestro último día en Brighton. Definitivamente no recomendaría aquí me temo. Mi compañero pidió un desayuno completo el tocino fue cremado al igual que algunas de las salchichas. El huevo escalfado era duro como una roca y se desmoronó cuando lo abrió. Pedí aguacate en tostadas. También esperaba tostadas, no pan que tuviera una punta de pan tostado. Es como si alguien realmente no pudiera molestarse en esperar a la tostadora. Después de una espera de 35 minutos también, comimos lo que pudimos y nos fuimos. Oí a alguien quejándose también. La tetera en la que me sirvieron mi té estaba rota en el pico y los cubiertos son sucios. Las tazas para los números de mesa son horteras y ásperas también.

Contratamos a Trading Post para una fiesta de bodas. Era una opción de bajo esfuerzo, con un gasto mínimo, bar, comida, personal y seguridad. El lugar funcionó muy bien con más de 80 personas, como tan céntrico, con dos pisos, dos bares, buena planta baja y espacio exterior. Todo lo que teníamos que proporcionar eran decoraciones y una lista de reproducción. Gracias a todo el equipo por una noche encantadora.

This is one of the best coffees I’ve ever tried. I had a great experience at Ozone Coffee in London, but this café offers a unique twist with various blends to choose from. As soon as you step inside, the rich aroma of coffee beans from their in-house roasting machine fills the air. They also offer a tempting selection of baked goods like muffins, cakes, and croissants. I also tried the tiramisu waffle, which was amazing. It’s a must-visit spot for any coffee lover exploring Brighton!

Gran lugar pero pobre pastelería. Pedí un croissant de almendras y estaba seco como un pescado seco. Dijo la camarera y dijo que se cocina todos los días no estoy en desacuerdo, pero la pastelería es mala. Triste que solo me comí la mitad del croissant por 3. 90 libras.

Passed by and opted to go in for breakfast and it did not disappoint! The food was fantastic and everything (drinks included) arrived quickly. Lovely decor and very friendly staff. A pleasant start to our day exploring Brighton!

There are many choices, friends ordered different flavors to share The meals were all great!

Service is lovely, the staff are so kind and friendly. However, the baristas are so inconsistent. You never know the taste of the drink you'll get, even though you always order exactly the same thing. I now peek to see which baristas are doing the drinks before deciding if I want to queue and buy a drink. It's such a shame. It's also unfair as I am always paying the same expensive £4.50 for the same drink, and yet I can never predict if it will be worth my money or not. That said, the drinks are so good when done properly by people who, I assume, properly follow the instructions and proportions they were taught. Otherwise, while the atmosphere is lovely, it is twisted that such an expensive place simply decides not to provide their customers with wifi as a long-winded way of ensuring their cafe does not become a study spot.

One of my favourite spots to sip a latte. Cosy and inviting space indoors with outdoor tables to watch the world go by. Excellent coffee roasted on site quirky features, check out the water, tap and coffee roaster!. Very friendly and helpful staff I. Would recommend the Korean mushroom sandwich which was definitely one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. A must visit.

My go to cafe in Brighton. I love the interior and the drink selection. My boyfriend has tried all the Nutella lattes in the city and there is no better than at The Trading Post. My favourite thing to get is tea (you get a lot) and I love their butternut squash and falafel roll. They have lots of seating and even sofas upstairs if you're lucky! I've also had their breakfast options in the past and they were great.

I spent 3 days in Brighton recently and ended up eating breakfast here every morning. The coffee was outstanding! The food was great too. Over 3 mornings I tried the vegan rarebit, the plant-based granola bowl and the plant-based full English (minus the falafels & houmous as I didn't fancy that for breakfast). I also got a sandwich to take away - Korean BBQ mushrooms on foccacia. Everything was freshly made, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.

Amazing coffee shop, and roastery nestled at the back. On-site coffee roasting smells wonderful, and the open kitchen is a treat to watch. Exellent food and coffee.

always one of my go to spots for coffee. stunning building and immaculate vibe. staff were very friendly. i had the blackberry smoothie which was delicious but overpriced.

Their coffee is amazing, I ordered almond milk latte which takes me to another level, must try. The pistachio and almond cake are so yum.

Great coffee (including a variety of beans to choose from, with knowledgeable staff to explain the difference in taste). We had one decaf with hot oat milk and one long black with Grand Espresso beans. Many places we visit fail to get our order right, but here was perfect.

Coffee was delicious but the oat milk was as extra 40p, whereas other non dairy options like soy and almond were free. I don’t think this is fair. That’s why only 3 stars

I went here today, 7th May 2024. I was really looking forward to poached eggs. My son went up to the bar and ordered. 15 minutes later my son’s found arrived and my son’s girlfriend’s food arrived. After another 10 minutes I inquired about my food. I was told that for some reason the order hadn’t gone through. Also the kitchen was now closed. I could have something from the counter however. I ended up with a vegan sausage roll filled with sloppy butternut squash. Fair enough it was on the house but it was very disappointing. No one came to collect our plates and soon the seagulls and pigeons were swooping in so we took the plates in ourselves. No one in that place cared about the customers. When I went inside the place was just full of people on phones and computers. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE AT ALL. Coffee was good at least 🥴🙃

I am a time traveller from the future. I've come back in time to tell you to update your calendar to 2024 and provide wifi access to your customers. If you want to distract us all, and continue over charging us for coffee and sandwiches, you might want to think about it. We have plenty of other options, just because you have a busy Saturday, don't take us for granted. Unfortunately, you cant see or respond to this because you don't have wifi. BOOM!!

Very tasty and well presented food !!! I had the "Full Breakfast" and was surprised by the quality and freshness of the ingredients ✨. Their gluten-free cakes are excellent. They don't list it on their menu, but for any dishes that come with sourdough, they can swap it with gluten free bread if you ask. 🍞 If the weather is nice, I recommend sitting outside. There usually aren't any seagulls around that area to be mindful of. Service was a bit slow but it was very busy when I went so it's understandable. They have free tap water from a faucet inside on the right. 10/10 recommended.

Very happy with this place. Staff were friendly and even had a joke with one about having to have tattoos to work there. The pastries were really good and the full English breakfast was excellent…..maybe too many roasted cherry tomatoes but its not a complaint to be given too much of something. Coffee is really good as well.

Great spot for Lunch. Cortado, English Breakfast Tea and Cumberland Sausage Sandwiches. Only one complaint - the Sausage Sandwich was enough for TWO We were both defeated. Two Cumberland Sausages in 4 slices, of Sough Dough bread. Truly delicious but just too much. And a real bargain at £5.95 So lunch for two for £3 a head - well next time we visit. Great vibe, good service, we can see why the place was packed. And three whole floors including a, Roof Terrace. Sadly a bit nippy on the day we came. Hayling Seagoon

Very cool coffee shop. We only had a light snack (toastie & veg sausage roll) which was really tasty. Everything on the menu looked delicious so hopefully will be returning soon.

This is a fantastic cafe right in the centre of town. I had the Turkish eggs, which were perfection. Hats off to the chef, Zephy.

Really nice food at a reasonable price. I had the chorizo hash, which was amazing, super flavourful. My girlfriend had the Turkish eggs and was really happy with them. They aren't messing about with coffee either, there's loads of options. I even got to thank chef Zephy in person thanks to the open kitchen. I definitely recommend this place.

I popped in for a spot of brunch earlier. I ordered poached eggs on toast, they were cooked to perfection. My compliments to the head chef Zephy. I’ll be recommending to my friends and family.

Coffee, tea and triple bacon sandwich and triple sausage sandwich. My wife is very fussy about her coffee, staff made it perfectly, and she said it was one of the best cup of coffee she's had. Sandwiches full of flavour with great ingredients. All in all, brilliant friendly and helpful staff. DEFINITELY be back.

This is a very nice environment with friendly staff, however, the sandwich that I had had obviously been sitting around for a while and the bread was really stale. I ordered a salmon and crème fraîche with dill sandwich and it strangely came on rosemary for catcher which tasted very odd. I'll return, but I wouldn't have one of the sandwiches again they're on display.

I spend over 80 pounds on coffee a month In This place I have just bought a flat white which tasted like a Costa latte rubbish it also was boiling milk which burnt me, I complained to which the till riwedwith me about temperature then got a new one taste still the same but now virtually freezing I tried to call but they don't answer phone or take messages I will NEVER cross their threshold again especially as there are many shops to choose from disgusting service and attitude # and after over a month no reply from them they just take your money and don't care about your custom wether a regular or a visitor, worst coffee shop in Brighton and clearly the worst respect

Whenever I order coffee, not only it takes about 15-20 min to reach my table (which wouldn't be that much of a problem if it wasn't for the fact that I didn't have anyone in front of me ordering...) but by the time it does it, it's cold because once it has been made it's just left at the counter and there's no staff to bring to you in a timely manner. It has happened quite a few times lately.

This place is great to chill will your food. My juice was cold and refreshing, very nice. I ate a bacon sandwich, only one way to describe it:…TO GOOD FOR WORDS! Kind staff, welcoming aroma, will be coming back.

Had a very lovely time here. Had a lovely toastie that was one of the best toasties I have ever had. Great hot drinks too. Love how you can buy bags of coffee to take home and make yourself too. Mixture of customers inside too which was nice.
