Trading Post Coffee Roasters in Brighton and Hove

Coffee is good, smooth and in reasonable price. The location is good, in the lanes in Brighton, across the road from The Ivy Asia and TK Maxx. 3 minutes walk from Church Square shopping centre. It was very busy on Sunday afternoon, we have to wait 15 minutes for our coffee. The Cinnamon cake is a little bit dry.

Always great place for catch-ups and coffee or brekkie. Also, cakes are lovely. Staff is super friendly!

Always stop here for a pick me up they have a nice selection of sweet treats and savoury too if that’s your vibe. They have high quality coffee and matcha and a great outdoor seating area. Definitely a great place to enjoy a morning coffee or afternoon with friends.

Sometimes at coffee places, when you ask for a plain black coffee, you tend to get a coffee that's just too dark and bitter. This place makes amazing coffee to the point it's just beautiful to sip on a nice, black coffee without struggling to finish it because it's too strong. I'm terrible at explaining, but you get the gist, beautiful coffee and the strangers food next to me on the other table looked delish!

Expensive, grumpy service. But good espresso so it cancels out to a 3/5. The food was expensive and I think not worth it and disappointing, but again good coffee.

Ordered a full breakfast and black coffee. The cutlery was filthy. Whilst the food was pleasant the poached egg was cold and uncooked in the middle. Also deconstructing a breakfast before you can eat it is painful. I used to love this place.......no more

This is one of the best coffees I’ve ever tried. I had a great experience at Ozone Coffee in London, but this café offers a unique twist with various blends to choose from. As soon as you step inside, the rich aroma of coffee beans from their in-house roasting machine fills the air. They also offer a tempting selection of baked goods like muffins, cakes, and croissants. I also tried the tiramisu waffle, which was amazing. It’s a must-visit spot for any coffee lover exploring Brighton!

Passed by and opted to go in for breakfast and it did not disappoint! The food was fantastic and everything (drinks included) arrived quickly. Lovely decor and very friendly staff. A pleasant start to our day exploring Brighton!

There are many choices, friends ordered different flavors to share The meals were all great!

Service is lovely, the staff are so kind and friendly. However, the baristas are so inconsistent. You never know the taste of the drink you'll get, even though you always order exactly the same thing. I now peek to see which baristas are doing the drinks before deciding if I want to queue and buy a drink. It's such a shame. It's also unfair as I am always paying the same expensive £4.50 for the same drink, and yet I can never predict if it will be worth my money or not. That said, the drinks are so good when done properly by people who, I assume, properly follow the instructions and proportions they were taught. Otherwise, while the atmosphere is lovely, it is twisted that such an expensive place simply decides not to provide their customers with wifi as a long-winded way of ensuring their cafe does not become a study spot.

One of my favourite spots to sip a latte. Cosy and inviting space indoors with outdoor tables to watch the world go by. Excellent coffee roasted on site quirky features, check out the water, tap and coffee roaster!. Very friendly and helpful staff I. Would recommend the Korean mushroom sandwich which was definitely one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. A must visit.

My go to cafe in Brighton. I love the interior and the drink selection. My boyfriend has tried all the Nutella lattes in the city and there is no better than at The Trading Post. My favourite thing to get is tea (you get a lot) and I love their butternut squash and falafel roll. They have lots of seating and even sofas upstairs if you're lucky! I've also had their breakfast options in the past and they were great.

I spent 3 days in Brighton recently and ended up eating breakfast here every morning. The coffee was outstanding! The food was great too. Over 3 mornings I tried the vegan rarebit, the plant-based granola bowl and the plant-based full English (minus the falafels & houmous as I didn't fancy that for breakfast). I also got a sandwich to take away - Korean BBQ mushrooms on foccacia. Everything was freshly made, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.

Amazing coffee shop, and roastery nestled at the back. On-site coffee roasting smells wonderful, and the open kitchen is a treat to watch. Exellent food and coffee.

always one of my go to spots for coffee. stunning building and immaculate vibe. staff were very friendly. i had the blackberry smoothie which was delicious but overpriced.

Their coffee is amazing, I ordered almond milk latte which takes me to another level, must try. The pistachio and almond cake are so yum.

Great coffee (including a variety of beans to choose from, with knowledgeable staff to explain the difference in taste). We had one decaf with hot oat milk and one long black with Grand Espresso beans. Many places we visit fail to get our order right, but here was perfect.

Coffee was delicious but the oat milk was as extra 40p, whereas other non dairy options like soy and almond were free. I don’t think this is fair. That’s why only 3 stars

I went here today, 7th May 2024. I was really looking forward to poached eggs. My son went up to the bar and ordered. 15 minutes later my son’s found arrived and my son’s girlfriend’s food arrived. After another 10 minutes I inquired about my food. I was told that for some reason the order hadn’t gone through. Also the kitchen was now closed. I could have something from the counter however. I ended up with a vegan sausage roll filled with sloppy butternut squash. Fair enough it was on the house but it was very disappointing. No one came to collect our plates and soon the seagulls and pigeons were swooping in so we took the plates in ourselves. No one in that place cared about the customers. When I went inside the place was just full of people on phones and computers. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE AT ALL. Coffee was good at least 🥴🙃

I am a time traveller from the future. I've come back in time to tell you to update your calendar to 2024 and provide wifi access to your customers. If you want to distract us all, and continue over charging us for coffee and sandwiches, you might want to think about it. We have plenty of other options, just because you have a busy Saturday, don't take us for granted. Unfortunately, you cant see or respond to this because you don't have wifi. BOOM!!

Very tasty and well presented food !!! I had the "Full Breakfast" and was surprised by the quality and freshness of the ingredients ✨. Their gluten-free cakes are excellent. They don't list it on their menu, but for any dishes that come with sourdough, they can swap it with gluten free bread if you ask. 🍞 If the weather is nice, I recommend sitting outside. There usually aren't any seagulls around that area to be mindful of. Service was a bit slow but it was very busy when I went so it's understandable. They have free tap water from a faucet inside on the right. 10/10 recommended.

Very happy with this place. Staff were friendly and even had a joke with one about having to have tattoos to work there. The pastries were really good and the full English breakfast was excellent…..maybe too many roasted cherry tomatoes but its not a complaint to be given too much of something. Coffee is really good as well.

Great spot for Lunch. Cortado, English Breakfast Tea and Cumberland Sausage Sandwiches. Only one complaint - the Sausage Sandwich was enough for TWO We were both defeated. Two Cumberland Sausages in 4 slices, of Sough Dough bread. Truly delicious but just too much. And a real bargain at £5.95 So lunch for two for £3 a head - well next time we visit. Great vibe, good service, we can see why the place was packed. And three whole floors including a, Roof Terrace. Sadly a bit nippy on the day we came. Hayling Seagoon

Very cool coffee shop. We only had a light snack (toastie & veg sausage roll) which was really tasty. Everything on the menu looked delicious so hopefully will be returning soon.

I popped in for a spot of brunch earlier. I ordered poached eggs on toast, they were cooked to perfection. My compliments to the head chef Zephy. I’ll be recommending to my friends and family.

Really nice food at a reasonable price. I had the chorizo hash, which was amazing, super flavourful. My girlfriend had the Turkish eggs and was really happy with them. They aren't messing about with coffee either, there's loads of options. I even got to thank chef Zephy in person thanks to the open kitchen. I definitely recommend this place.

This is a fantastic cafe right in the centre of town. I had the Turkish eggs, which were perfection. Hats off to the chef, Zephy.

Coffee, tea and triple bacon sandwich and triple sausage sandwich. My wife is very fussy about her coffee, staff made it perfectly, and she said it was one of the best cup of coffee she's had. Sandwiches full of flavour with great ingredients. All in all, brilliant friendly and helpful staff. DEFINITELY be back.

I spend over 80 pounds on coffee a month In This place I have just bought a flat white which tasted like a Costa latte rubbish it also was boiling milk which burnt me, I complained to which the till riwedwith me about temperature then got a new one taste still the same but now virtually freezing I tried to call but they don't answer phone or take messages I will NEVER cross their threshold again especially as there are many shops to choose from disgusting service and attitude # and after over a month no reply from them they just take your money and don't care about your custom wether a regular or a visitor, worst coffee shop in Brighton and clearly the worst respect

This is a very nice environment with friendly staff, however, the sandwich that I had had obviously been sitting around for a while and the bread was really stale. I ordered a salmon and crème fraîche with dill sandwich and it strangely came on rosemary for catcher which tasted very odd. I'll return, but I wouldn't have one of the sandwiches again they're on display.

Whenever I order coffee, not only it takes about 15-20 min to reach my table (which wouldn't be that much of a problem if it wasn't for the fact that I didn't have anyone in front of me ordering...) but by the time it does it, it's cold because once it has been made it's just left at the counter and there's no staff to bring to you in a timely manner. It has happened quite a few times lately.

We hired Trading Post in Brighton Ship Street for our daughters 21st birthday and I can hand on heart say she had the most amazing time. The event space is absolutely gorgeous, we have visited here many times for brunch and admired the aesthetics of the venue, but didn't realise how it would come into its own once decorated for a party. They do not charge a hire cost, you just have a minimum spend. Daisy and the staff there were just brilliant pre event, during event and post it. They couldn't do enough to make sure our daughter had the most memorable birthday. Speaking to our own DJ's and event decorators to ensure they were happy with what they needed. The food we had through them was so tasty, my daughter even commented it was the best avocado on sourdough she and her friends had ever had! Also catering for me as a non drinker, getting my favourite non alcoholic gin in specially! I have a feeling a lot of our friends and my daughters friends will hire this space out in future, as they weren't aware they could, it's not somewhere that should be kept a secret so if anyone is looking for a venue to hire for a special occasion then look no further, you wont be disappointed. A massive thank you Daisy and the team for contributing to such brilliant memories for our daughter, family and friends.

A pleasant moment here. Since I arrived in this city, this is the place where I usually go for a coffee with friends, family, or else. With years, as everywhere I guess, it became more pricy which is unfortunate. Sometimes I'm still flabbergasted by having to pay up to £4-5 for a simple sausage roll, even if it may be made with royal pork, it's quite expensive when you also want a coffee which could be up to £4. Get prepared to get to a buzzing place, it's quite crowded as it's a famous and lovely coffee but you have to know that if you're not a huge fan of these ambiances. Also, the cutlery is never really clean, same for the tables. That's a big area of development. I know how busy it could be so it's hard to clean, however at least when you see new clients you should clean the table and remove all the dirty dishes from previous people. Anyway, for the food I quite enjoyed the salmon egg royale, a very nice brunch mostly when you are having a lovely flat white with it. Also, the music is cool, and the staff can be friendly but it depends (Joe is the best). I wouldn't advise the croissant as it's quite dry and as a French, I can tell you it's not how it's supposed to be made, but the overall experience is worth 4 stars.

Popped in for a vegan breakfast and a dirty chai. Both were lovely! Only negative is that the falafel weren't fresh, which meant they were dry and crumbly, and the guacamole was so cold it made my teeth hurt 😆. I would deffo go back and order the same again though!

Nice coffee and great selection of teas. Service is slow and atmosphere is utilitarian. Unfortunately, this is another cashless chain cafe in Brighton. I prefer to spend my money in places that aren't nudging us into a cashless dystopia, controlled by the banks. Cash is king.

Went for coffee with a freind, had a server called Ellen I believe (hope I got the name right). Was very friendly and welcoming even when I made a ridiculous joke! Been here before & definitely will be going again.

Had 30 min before a dinner booking and popped in for a quick coffee. Left 30 min later with no drinks yet, paid £15 for the privilege of leaving empty handed. Saw multiple tables almost finish their food before drinks arrived. Very disappointing, cannot imagine a coffee taking longer than a cooked meal. Won't bother again. Table and floor was sticky.

Hopefully, this revue will steer people away from Costa-Lot, Nero to Zero and StarYucks. If you want real coffee made by people who know about it, know how to make it; then make a bee-line to this place. Exceptional coffee served at right temperature, slightly smokey aftertaste. The ham and mature cheese sourdough toastie was served piping hot. It was chock full of flavour. Although I didn't need another one, I was sorely tempted as it tasted so good. They are made fresh each day. They also sell their own coffee beans. I like the muted light in the premises and the music. Both added to the experience. Well done...I will come in next time I am in Brighton.

Three of us went to Trading Post coffee roasters for coffee and a snack. The coffee and the food was good but service took a long time.

Popped in for lunch to be fair it was quite busy, we ordered toasted sandwiches and hot drinks,the service was okay at ordering but had to ask for our drinks which had been forgotten, unfortunately when tables were cleaned all the debris which had been left was wiped onto the floor which wasn't very nice as there was quite a bit had to be careful where your feet were, also tables were very close so you felt hemmed in, probably won't go back shame.

Food was lovely. A bit expensive. However the reason for the 3 stars is the staff. No customer service by the person behind the counter or the waitress bringing the food - it’s like they think they are too cool! 🤦‍♀️

Knowing it as a 'coffee shop', I took a bit of gamble booking Trading Post as a private hire for our company Xmas bash but boy, am I chuffed we did! The venue looked magical, food was delicious, cocktails were divine, and staff couldn't do...

Nice place, however, the service is incredibly slow. Me and my girlfriend had to wait 25 mins for 2 toastiest to be warmed up and when we went downstairs to ask why it’s taking so long, they were just sitting on the side and which the two servers just handed to us without an apology and being incredibly rude, due to them sitting on the side they were cold when we started eating them. I would say Some of the worst customer service I have had in a while. If you’re wanting food, I would highly recommend going someplace else.

Beverages and cake was superb but the cashless rule and point blank refusal to accept cash spoilt the experience. You are part of the problem!

Waited 15 mins for coffee w 2 small children, asked for refund. No sign of apology, basically normal service for them & families clearly not welcome here.

Lists of coffees and teas all made to your desires 😊 Lovely Christmas decorations to get you in the Christmas sprit! 🎄 2 floors of seating so plenty of room, and if your brave enough there is outside sitting but maybe not for December 😊

Fabulous service, fantastic coffee selection and great food. This place is buzzing and you may find at that there is a bit of a mission to find a seat but well worth the effort. Reasonable prices for this sort of quality too.

We like to keep coming back to this cafe. The coffee tastes lovely and they have some nice vegan pastries too.

We only had a cup of tea but we got loose leaf tea in a teapot each (3 cups), a warmed cup and plenty of milk.

The Trading Post made the most amazing venue for my 50th Birthday Party and I cannot recommend it highly enough. This coffee shop transforms into a fantastic after hours private hire venue. The upstairs space works really with a central bar area, dividing a space...
