Great Thai food, and a brilliant quiz on a Tuesday night, I'd go so far as to say the best in Brighton on that day. Pub atmosphere downstairs is also quite nice, always busy and good music playing.

I attended the pub quiz upstairs. Atmosphere was not bad, pretty good. The quiz starts at 8:30pm and lasts about a couple of hours. It’s quite fun.

Popped in for a beer and decided to try the Thai food. A bottle of wine and a few starters later, very satisfied. Food is superb - we'll be back as soon as we can.

Came for the quiz. The question master tried her best but was not the clearest speaker, and her voice whilst amplified was amplified too quietly. After each question, music was played. I can see that is done so that overhearing answers and discussion is made hard , but, it made it very difficult to ask for a question to be repeated, and after 40 questions it was very irritating. The questions were good though, and we won. But when you win you get the choice of three random prizes. 130 odd quid, a food voucher and another lesser prize. We won the food voucher. 15 quid. Felt slightly cheated since the value of the voucher was so miserably small. Won't hurry back. Too dark, too noisy. Younger people seemed to be having a good time though and the beer range looked good.

Great place for lunchtime Thai food and some good pints. There's also a speak easy style bar upstairs that serves cocktails which is an absolute treat.

We called in here twice before and after a concert at the cricket ground nearby. It was very lively inside and spilling out on the pavement but service was speedy enough and the beer was good. We got a table outside later on and enjoyed our pints there on a warm evening. Perfect.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Fancied an alternative to Neck Oil and was directed to 'Chieftan'. And what a good call it was. Plus the food smelt amazing, but unfortunately I was full of fry-up.

Fantastic pub with great atmosphere. The Thai food is the best in Brighton & Hove. Great for lunch or weekday evening. Sunday roast is good too. The staff are always friendly and the music is always good. Has to be one of the best pubs in town.

We really liked this pub, staff were friendly, food was Thai a little bland but nice. Dog friendly. The only downside was the price of a pint of ale which was over £6.

Everything a great Victorian-era British pub should be. Great service and a good selection of beers.

I’ve been coming here for many years but will now avoid during evening hours. The music was deafening, making it nearly impossible to hold conversation. I asked the staff twice if they could reduce the volume but was told that they’d be chastised by the boss and forced to turn it back up. We were a large group and opted to leave. There were groups gathering outside, not to smoke/vape but to converse. Such a shame.

With a friendly, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, this pub is nicely laid out and often buzzing on a weekend, but it's also a great option for a week night, especially if you can get a spot outside in the summer. There are a good selection of drinks and you can always find at least one or two dogs inside!

Normal PUB, sometimes the beer is good and cold, but most of the time the beer is warm, now the worst is that they allowed people to smoke vapes inside and the staff’s smoke it too which is unacceptable 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻

Was sad to see two guys with puppies in there last night using them for attention. The music was way too loud for them and they looked distressed. Sad to see the door men allowed this.

Great place for any evening, whether it is to have a drink and a catch up with a friend(s) or to also have some Thai Food. Staff always friendly and kin to help you choose what beer from the tap you should order if you are one of those people like me who wants to try something new but also not to be disappointed. Thai Food is presented beautifully and couldn't fault the taste. Only downside is how loud is the music. Have been going there a few times to catch up with friends on a weekday after work but struggled to follow conversations.

One real ale, very nice, other beers n lagers n ciders on tap. Plenty of seating including around the spacious centre bar. There are numerous TVs showing sporting events as well as nicely volumed music.

Jazz on Wednesday great. Beer prices very high. IPA Capital £5.75. Background music on ground floor too high ! have to raise voice to speak to bat staff.

I normally love this place, but last time I was there, it was freezing. I can only assume they're trying to save money on energy. I'm hoping this is temporary. Turn your heat up!

Pub is so cosy and the staff are lovely, drinks are usual prices for Brighton so nothing unexpected. The food is amazing, always good and fun to have a different option at a pub other than the classic. Music is always fab, my fiancé and I go regularly, we definitely would recommend a visit.

Meeting a few friends. Very loud music and atmosphere which made conversation difficult. Unable to move upstairs to a quieter area as there was a function on. Otherwise staff were friendly, service was fast and efficient.

Coolest place today, much needed stop after 16999 steps in a day to the Mod Alldayer in Brighton. Lovely atmosphere and fab staff x

We were there yesterday with a couples of friends and one of the guards (a woman) treated us in a racist way, even though she is also a foreigner as well. She did not let us come inside the pub, when we went out to get some air, arguing with a lie, that it could have affected the integrity of a person. The manager was not able to solve the situation and gave us an appointment for today at 12, which he did not appear. If this type of people without morals or ethics manages this pub, I can not recommended to go, it will be dangerous.

Great Thai food in an unexpected place, inexpensive to boot. Just happened to pop in here for lunch on a weekday after walking down Churchill square. $8.95 for appetizer and entree. Both were great albeit a little oversalted.

Well we did come back again. Had a really good time up to the point I was assaulted by the doorman. I requested information several times from the pub management and was not given the info requested. It's a dangerous pub in my view for these reasons. I do not recommend this pub anymore

Awesome place to go for drinks, a dance, loud music, atmosphere and people and not forgetting the service. Had a brilliant night here - cocktails, ale, cider, ace music. Can’t wait to go there again.
