The Sidewinder in Brighton and Hove

Called in to the Sidewinder for some Thai food, as Namo-X now do the food here. Food was really amazing. Definitely not to be missed. Hadn't been to the Sidewinder in a while, and had forgotten what a cool and friendly pub this is. Sure we'll be back soon

Amazing pub. Great decor and extra yummy loaded burger And noe they even have a Thai kitchen and oh so yum! Pad Thai with green curry was really tasty!

Been coming to Sidewinder for years as it's close to work (they do NHS discount too!). Recently tried their food.... It was delicious Thai food, the lady that served us was very sweet and said her husband is the chef, was amazing and very reasonable price

Decent pub with Laine beers on and the best beer garden in Kemptown and one of the best in Brighton generally. Worth popping in.

One of the best pub experiences I've had in a LONG time, went in on my own for a pint and ended up staying for dinner. Huge outside area with a lovely lot of customers in there that you can tell all get treated amazingly by staff. Banging Thai food, good pints, 10/10 staff. Will be back x

Absolutley banging boozer! Food was incredible and ive already booked for Christmas. The cherry on top had to be Sarah, she made the night for me and my family. Mum lives in London and genuinely think she might visit more often just to go back. Nice to see lots of regulars about, you can tell this place cares about its punters! See you for Christmas!

Never been to this side of Brighton and now discovering a lot of places i wanna try so here i am for a drink. Even we friends booked our table for dinner but couldn’t stop myself and ended up dining here 😅. Best pub in Brighton for many reasons. Not only had such great time here but the staff were even pleasant, helpful & attentive, such cool & quick service. Amazing venue with inside and a massive outdoor seating cover area. Sure coming back.

Absolutely incredible thai food

At the mod weekender have a fantastic time then security told everyone outside in the garden it will close at 10.30pm it was chaos we couldn't move so it was time for me to go elsewhere, shame.

Walked in with an old school friend not knowing the pub. I was recommended an amazing pint of Ripper, accommodated with some flawless chicken of the new menu, couldn't fault it. Great experience, friendly staff and I've just moved into the area so it's great to find the new local!

Amazing staff and service as usual! Considering what a busy day it was (euro finals) they accommodated my request for a large group booking for my birthday and everything went seamlessly. Would 100% recommend for big group bookings :)

6:00 pm on a Saturday - great atmosphere outdoors, good service, not tried food but toilets guys, something needs to be done, one word: disgusting.

Wow, totally blown away! Walked in, big smile and Hello from Sarah, found (new to me ) Rippa! IPA The loaded bone marrow butter cheeseburger was in the top 10 we've had, and thanks to the friendly gent who brought it out to their sunny patio. So nice, we had another pint!

Reserved an area for my partners 50th. Friendly staff, nice vibe, good pub grub and a great DJ.

Great outdoor space, on two levels. Very relaxed and easy for having a gathering of mixed ages. Services was a bit slow but that's because it was very busy inside with post-marathon celebration drinks.

Love the covered and heated outdoor seating. Great venue.

The atmosphere is nice, relaxed, spacious. Brewery is also OK. However I cannot say the same for the food. I was there for a Sunday roast. My beef roast was quite poorly done. Meat quality wasn’t the best for the given 19 pounds. However, they do live performance. if you visit for few pints, music and environment. It’s OK.

Been coming here for years, and seen such a steady improvement in so many areas. This place is going from strength to strength recently! Hitting it with the music on the weekends, quality of the food is fab and such lovely happy staff around. Keep it up guys

We always have a lovely time at the sidewinder, it’s a big spacious pub great for kids and dog friendly. Often has DJs and live music and is great for a dance at the weekend, it doesn’t close untill 2am. The service is brilliant and food is lovely.

You were brilliant. Half marathon day, packed pub, extremely busy inside and out. The team smashed it out of the park, our party of 7 got lovely food in no time, everyone else seemed to be served as quickly, and with a smile. You were all fantastic. Thank you

I absolutely love the atmosphere in Sidewinder and love the variety of games behind the bar. Ruby served me last time I went and was super friendly and helpful, and made me an incredible Bloody Mary!! I would recommend 👌🏼 Thank you Ruby!!

Great place. Excellent food well priced and amazing beers. In Brighton with work and went there to eat on my own but didn’t feel out of place. Will be going again for sure!

Lovely cosy pub with a great beer garden. Sidewinder has definitely become my new favourite pub. Food is delicious… especially the roast dinners. Service is always amazing too - big thank you to Ruby and Liv for their brilliant service. So friendly and welcoming!!! Would highly recommend visiting!

Beef Sirloin roast dinner very nice. Got there late afternoon and was still able to get all the different roast 😋 very friendly and great service.

Impressed with this place after visiting for the first time. Good vibe, student/NHS discounts, attentive and friendly staff, great outdoor area with individual heated booths. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area.

I came to the sidewinder after work on a Friday. I was so impressed, we had drinks with friends in their huge garden and then we came inside and the DJ was playing amazing songs and the next thing we knew we were dancing til close. Would definitely recommend for a night out, so much fun!

Had such a lovely visit to Sidewinder, the staff were so friendly and welcoming and service was excellent. We got drinks and food both of which were fresh and delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back to make the most of the huge garden and lovely atmosphere!

A really great place to spend your Sunday. Roast was banging, I had the Pork TWO portions of Cauliflower cheese!! Get it booked and indulge. The staff are also super lovely and ru helpful. We had a mixed table of adults and children and they met our needs effortlessly. Would highly recommend

Amazing view, facing the beach and pier. Staff are friendly and helpful. Fish & chips are fresh and tasty, enjoyed it very much. I ordered the kids meal for half the price, which you will have to ask the staff (not shown on the wall menu). The only downside is that you have to pay for the ketchup & mayonnaise (50p each)

Best pub roast for I don’t know how long! Homemade taste, superb meat (pork and partner had beef), fabulous potatoes and sides…gravy was also really tasty. So good didn’t want to finish but still had room for dessert. You won’t be disappointed with food or service from this new team here…just go 🥰

Lovely setting, however arrived at 2.50pm and couldn't order till 3.30 for 4pm. Food delivered and beef was tough as, asked for it to be redone, still couldn't even cut it let alone chew it. Shame as stated lovely, lively setting. Staff were apologetic but considering we had ordered 2 bottles of red would have expected a bit more if a sorry....

Asked restaurant to review the beef and it still came back inedible. Shame, as I stated really nice setting. Best pub in Brighton!!!!!! Had such a great time here, the food was incredible and the staff are even better. The new gaffer Sarah has done wonders with this pub, making it one of our fav places to go. It’s an amazing venue with a massive outdoor area with cover, so perfect for Summer or rainy days. Thank you for having us and for a 10/10 experience, we will be back!!!

Filthy. Dirty sticky tables, dirty benches, chairs and floors. Near empty (wonder why). And with all that in mind - unjustified 6 quid for pint of larger ( only choice of 2). Never again.

Huge and excellent garden, with understanding staff who won’t get in the way of you having a great time. A little bit spenny but not awful for Brighton.

My 4* rating is based purely on the very helpful staff. I am a disabled pensioner who struggles with mobility and stairs. I was desperate to use the toilet, but was informed that theirs could only be reached by stairs. The staff member who spoke to me, actually took the time to explain the layout of 5 local pubs... and recommended one for having easy access to toilets. Unfortunately it was too far for me to walk and I settled on a nearby restaurant to help me. The Sidewinder is a bright and airy hostelry and well worth a visit. Recommended for the more able bodied. Great staff.

We popped into the Sidewinder for Sunday lunch yesterday. Haven’t eaten there for a very long time, But as this is our local we do like to pop in for drinks. They’ve done a good job with the refurbishment. Lots more tables, lots of new funky art work on the walls & a new bar. It really looks great. It wasn’t clear from the outside if they were serving Sunday roasts... (the A frame outside was about students drink deals), but they were serving roasts. I ordered the veggie wellington & my partner ordered the chicken. 15 mins later my veggie wellington arrived & the chicken a few minutes after. Big plates of food, my wellington was served with a Yorkshire pudding, carrots, parsnip, roast potatoes, purple cabbage & kale & gravy. My partner’s chicken was the only hot item on his plate. Everything (including gravy on the side) was cold. He ate what he could but left lots which is unlike him. When our table was cleared, my partner mentioned that everything on his plate, except the chicken, was cold. The bar manager went away & came back saying he was happy to refund his roast or offer us 2 desserts to make up for this. Which was really decent of him. As my partner had eaten all the chicken he didn’t want a full refund. They agreed on 50%. I must say that my veggie meal was very tasty & very filling. My partner’s complaint was treated very fairly & the bar manager was very nice about it & on that basis we will return. Thank you!

We had a big family gathering for Sunday lunch on Sunday 24rd July. The food was sensational. I had the vegan nut roast. My husband had the pork. The biscoff dessert is the stuff of dreams! The service was great. There was a high chair for the baby in the group. The pub has amazing outside spaces also. I noticed several dogs also so it is family friendly and dog friendly. I’ll be back!

Popped into the Sidewinder for a few drinks & some food as they have a very nice beer garden. It was a very sunny saturday, so as expected, it was busy. The menu has improved hugely since we last ate here. Lots of vegetarian & vegan choices! We had a few drinks then ordered the vegan nachos & also the cheesy chilli fries (choice of veggie or meat). The portion sizes were good & the food was delicious. My only gripe would be that service at the bar was quite slow, but the poor chap working was rushed off his feet. Lovely spot for drinks & food in the sun.

Me and me chums were desperate for a roast today on a sunny day in Brighton. We managed to get a table it was very busy . I had the pork as did my friend my other friend had da chicken . Very nice big portions and great veg. Good service as well.

Under new wonderful management. Also a new chef ,the menu is small at the moment but more to come. The first day of a full Sunday roast (09/07/23) and only one word can describe it Amazing. Would highly recommend it.

I’m very glad that the Sidewinder is my local. I’m also very glad that the Sidewinder is such a nice friendly pub that does such amazing food. We stopped by today for Sunday lunch. He had lamb shank & I, the vegetarian wellington. To drink I had one of the best Bloody Marys I’ve had in a while. The bar staff took much pride in getting the spicyness just right, soooooo gooood. Food came out very quickly, piping hot, big plates of food. My partner loved his lamb shank with all the trimmings - was the best he’s had in ages. My Mediterranean veggie wellington was v tasty, the roast pots were divinely crunchy, the wellington wAs full of flavour. So much food. So good. Lovely bar staff. Lovely pub. Dog & child friendly. 10/10

Lovely roast dinner, good atmosphere and nice staff. Gluten free roasts, big portions and delicious. Only small thing is that the toilets weren’t great (presumably not cleaned since late night before). If they fixed that it would be perfect. Big love
