Old Albion in Brighton and Hove

Came in after I finished the Brighton Marathon and had a booking which they were extremely attentive for. The lovely manager, Charlie, even pre booked another table for us incase we wanted to stay for longer! Lovely staff and a brilliant, cosy pub with a great atmosphere - which was elevated by the jazz band. The food looks great too! I am moving to Hove next month and will certainly be coming back when it’s one of my locals! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to eat, drink and have fun.

Great food, great drinks, great staff. The Albion has a lovely friendly atmosphere and the fairy lights and unusual pub decor makes it stand out from the rest. Also a chance to see the odd celebrity. A great night out with plenty of events including live music and quiz night. Love it there.

Old Albion pub has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. Not only is the place decorated beautifully but the staff there are always so welcoming and friendly and genuinely care about making your experience there as good as they possibly can. I would highly recommend this pub to go with either friends or family their roasts on Sundays are delicious with a brilliant live jazz band playing. Can’t get much better!

Such a great pub, really lovely atmosphere, great staff. Saw an amazing singer on Thursday and fantastic jazz on Sundays. Lots of choice on beers (including gluten free) and lots of gins. Sunday roast was amazing too, my new favourite!

Pub was lovely but it was the bar staff Zuni and Niamh that really made the visit a 5⭐️. They were so lovely to me and my friends and truly made us feel welcome.

I’ve been here many times now and have always had a great experience. The food is delicious, staff are friendly and atmosphere is really great. In particular, I have really great experiences being served by two staff members called Niamh and Zuni. They were incredibly welcoming and couldn’t have been more helpful. I can’t recommend this place enough.

This was an amazing pub for a roast! The beef was delicious and my friend got the vegetarian wellington which apparently knocked it out of the park. The bartender were really nice, I think it was someone called Zumi? And our waiter Niamh was attentive and very friendly. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back.

I had such a great time visiting this pub in the new year. It had such a cosy and welcoming atmosphere and I loved the warm lighting. We went on a Sunday and got to have some roast dinner snacks (the roast potatoes were unreal). The staff were so lovely and friendly. Niamh pours the perfect pint. I will definitely be back!!

Popped in on the off chance that they had space on a Sunday lunch, so glad we did! Staff were incredibly attentive and the food was incredible! Will definitely be back!

A couple of sneaky mid week drinks .fab atmosphere

A large Gin selection served as gin and tonic should be. Selection of Beer and ale too to make all types of crowds happy. Great location for Hove delwellers

The jerk chicken roast is delicious; everything perfectly cooked, but the spice puts a unique slant on Sunday roast. The vegan wellington was fantastic, not a second rate option as it can be. All the staff were incredibly kind and helpful, the atmosphere and music made this a perfect afternoon, thanks all x

Great for watching sport (Rugby) afternoon spoilt by braying Jocks.Otherwise would have been very pleasant.Seems to have been given a spruce up.

Great quiz night!! Such a good atmosphere and great selection of gins, beers and spirits. Management and bar staff go all out to ensure you have a really good night!! Highly recommended.

Stumbled across this gem of a pub by random and it's now one of my favourites in Brighton and Hove. Excellent vibes, especially during the fortnightly pub quiz. The staff are wonderful and there's always a great selection on tap!

Does not serve cask ale. Not a pub.

We regularly come to the Albion for food, drinks and their live music. This place is always busy in the evening and the atmosphere is fantastic - the staff are friendly, drinks are good, and the food is impressive. Highly recommended.

Stumbled across this little gem at the weekend. Wow what’s not to like - friendly staff and fabulous food with a great selection of my favourite Wines and Gins. Quirky and lively and cannot wait to visit again. We will be back ❤️

New pub, to me. Scent of bleach walking in. Neutrally pleasant bar staff. Project Babylon gluten free, line needs cleaning very badly. Strong vinegar notes, and I know Gun doesn't brew it as a sour.

I found myself in Old Albion for the first time on a visit to the seaside on Saturday. Great fish and chips, Greta service and a fantastic choice for gin. Recommended!

A great selection of ales. A nice pub too. Usually busy at times when other pubs are empty. This is not a sports pub, so don't expect the telly, but because of that it has atmosphere and a great selection of local and unusual ales.

Really enjoyed a few drinks at this “proper boozer”. Plenty of new style IPAs on tap, but my only criticism, no Real Ale/ Bitter. Small garden, but a nice pub.

I had the honour of entering this fine establishment and was shocked to the core at how incredible it is. I was so happy with my service that i physically was knocked off my feet and onto the floor, luckily Rosie was there to catch me (going above and beyond). It has now become my favourite place on earth and if i could i would love to live in the cellar so i can see Rosie every single day cause she is fab. Also my favourite drink is a tomato juice cocktail with pineapple slices in, and they do that here!

Great atmosphere in this cozy, unique pub! Best place around for a G&T, massive selection to choose from. Amazing food on Fridays and Saturdays (the Philly cheese burger is a winner), as well as live jazz and a brilliant roast on Sunday afternoons! The staff are always a great laugh, especially Zuni 😎

Every time I come here it’s like the world stops and I can finally breathe ✨ one time I was watching drag race and my favourite queen had been sent home that week, I walked up to the bar and the lovely barmaid (Zuni i think it was) served me a cold lemonade with extra lemon slices, let me charge my phone and complimented me on my Shrocs (Shrek Crocs). She didn’t even charge me for the tap water! Absolutely made my day :)

'This modern-refurbished Laine chain pub gives a nod to England's traditional Gin palaces' I discovered a bright, kid-friendly, modernised, open plan, hipster focused establishment at the Old Albion. The chalk-written beer wall nicely highlights the beer options above a neat row of taps, however just because it’s written in chalk the options will most likely be focussed on Laine produce given that this is a Laine Pub Co establishment now. If beer’s not your thing then the pub is now ‘gin obsessed’, according to their website, with more than 20 gins available. Well it is Hove after all. Favourite place for Sunday roast. Great atmosphere specially the Live Jazz band. Delicious food and great service. Having a reservation in the evening is a must to avoid disappointment.

Worth a visit if you like craft beer and Gin. Great atmosphere- plenty of seats. Basic decor, but adds to the charm.

The chef here used to be at a local golf club with a loyal following especially for Sunday lunches. Knowing what a great chef he is it was therefore really necessary to come and try The Albion. Orders are taken at the bar and we shared a Ham & Cheddar croquette with poached egg & chilli jam then followed by sausage & mash with red cabbage & onion gravy all washed down with a couple bottles of wine. Great food at a reasonable cost. However whilst we enjoyed the evening the service could have been better if they rethink how they Meet & greet, direct diners to tables,take orders & deliver the experience of having a meal at the Albion Would I come again ? ....Most certainly for the food but I would like to think that the delivery gets improved.

Popped down just for one drink for the jazz on Sunday at 5pm. Will definitely be back, such a lovely atmosphere.

Great pub with wonderful ambience and a splendid selection of beer and ale. Staff helpful and friendly and even when busy the place never seems to feel crowded. Prices also good and reasonable so why not head into town and give it a go.

Went today for a roast and had the lamb and have to say was of the nicest ive had in hove! Loved the roast potatoes wine and service. Will be coming back again

A lovely pub in Hove. Certainly worth a wander to if you want to leave the hustle of Brighton centre. Dog friendly and Beth behind the bar was superb.

A nice pub with a friendly atmosphere

This was our second visit here for Sunday lunch and I must say it was fantastic good size portions and a good selection of extras everything was hot and beautifully cooked will definitely be going back again thanks very much to all the staff

Great pub! We visited on a Friday night. There was a great choice of ales, gins and new world sauvignon blanc. All my favourites!! And a few good whiskeys, too. The staff were amazing and really seemed to enjoy their jobs. There was a comfortable age range of clientele so we didn't feel too old as, unlike some pubs, it wasn't completely full of students. That's not a bad thing but sometimes we feel out of place being a couple in our 50s who still like to party! But not in here! We'll definitely be going back.

Disappointing. Plenty of craft beers but sadly no real ale.

The pub itself is pretty nice but the selection of beers is really uninspiring. Normally a choice of 10 or so would be great, but they are all very similar lagers and pale ales. Some darker ones would be nice on a cold winter's night!

I’ve eaten better quality roasts in a nursing home. Yorkshire pudding was from frozen, there was minimal to no gravy, the beef was over cooked and my plate was missing half the sides stated on the menu. Not to mention, the roast came out staggered with there being over a 1.5 hour wait for food. Bless the front of house staff who were lovely and had to deal with the nonsense of the clearly incompetent kitchen staff. Bar staff were fab! Kitchen staff not so much. Only came here because apparently there’s a reputation for it being the best roast in town. I beg to differ. So far it’s the worst roast I’ve had in Brighton.

I'm far to old to go in that pub now at 57 .. the music was loud and it was very busy.. Good vibes though.. prices reasonable
