Dinner and Oye Santana concert. Dinner and service really good, food excellent, staff all lovely. Oye Santana great, we’ve seen them before. We moved to East Sussex from London a few years ago and had nowhere like Trading Boundaries where we lived. So lucky to have such a brilliant venue practically on our doorstep. We’ll be back.

Dinner, gig, stay. Second time we've done this and it's worth every penny, very memorable evening with China Crisis this time. The rooms are very nice, just a couple of thoughts, a mini-fridge would be welcome and the room was very large and could have accommodated a larger bed. Fabulous bathroom. The 'breakfast' in the morning for overnight guests is disappointing, it's a bit of a token offering and I hope they consider improving it to something cooked and more substantial to match the quality of everything else they do. The young staff also seemed as bemused as the guests as to what should happen at breakfast. We've stayed at the nearby Griffin Inn when going to TB before, their rooms are nowhere near as nice but the breakfast is something to look forward to. Still giving it 5/5, one of the best nights of my year.

I can without doubt say that the nut roast was the best we have ever had. Other places that serve a great roast chicken or beef just cannot manage a decent nut roast. The Jazz trio was a real bonus. The seats are comfortable as well.

Just came for their jazz lunch. Was clearly very busy, all tables inside were full but the two blonde ladies behind the bar were very friendly and welcoming. Was nice to see two specials on as the menu has been the same for a while now. Food was good and atmosphere is always amazing. Thank you Trading Boundaries!

3rd time visiting Trading Boundaries for dinner/concert/stay over. I cannot fault this place. At a function with with over 100 people the food is quite simply outstanding. Music is always superb. The rooms are beautiful. Tastefully furnished, light and airy. We have at least 2 more bookings this year. Mike and his team have created a Jewel in the countryside. You must give it a try. ❤️

We stayed in a Family room for 2 nights and it was huge. It was really quiet, completely spotless and had some nice luxury touches too. The breakfast was continental so we didn’t expect much but were served up an absolute feast of pastries, toast (homemade bread), yoghurt parfait and barista coffee. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming. For what we paid, I think it was well beyond what I expected. My only complaint is that the blind cord in the loft room was quite dangerous for kids (hanging down, not secured to the wall) but that’s an easy fix.

Brilliant music venue, food & place to stay! We came here to see Imagination & its was amazing! Venue size & layout means you have a fab view wherever you sit and are never far away, also has space to dance. Dinner was fab & easy to order drinks at ye table. Staff were lovely & great service. We stayed in 1 of the new oak framed rooms, which had an amazing bathroom & power shower, fluffy towels, kettle, tea, coffee & water. Pretty sunny terrace to sit out & parking by room. Breakfast was great too, big croissants & artisan bread toast with jams & marmalade, juice & coffee, all served by very friendly staff. 100% recommend this place +I'll def visit again.

Trading Boundaries is an absolute gem of a place. We held our wedding here and from the first visit we fell in love with it. The staff are amazing, friendly and so welcoming and really helped us to achieve the crazy vision we had for our special day. The venue itself is stunning, fairy lights everywhere, beautifully decorated in their signature Indian style, a lovely outside area with firepits and wonderful terrace area. The new hotel rooms were comfortable and beautifully decorated and it was perfect to stumble back to after the wedding. After months of effort, the day itself and breakfast the next morning were perfect and we couldn’t have asked for anything better! The bar team offered some creative cocktails and there’s always a great selection of local food and drink. We were so pleased to be able to include our dog and her friends in our day as the venue is very dog friendly, it is one of our puppy’s favourite places to visit! In particular Jenny and Oli were amazing and they helped us make the weekend our own as we wanted a non-traditional event. The music nights were also amazing and a lot of fun! We will definitely be back again in the future for more shopping and music.

Fantastic night out at the fabulous Trading Boundries, watching the legendary Imagination perform, dinner and a wonderful nights stay! This whole evening was actually a prize that I was lucky enough to win, but what an absolute treat! We received a warm welcome, shown to our lovely room which was beautifully furnished and very clean, gorgeous linen and a very comfy bed. Dinner was delicious and the entertainment fantastic! The owners and staff are so friendly, helpful and incredibly attentive, we could not fault the service in any way. This isn’t our first visit to a music night at TB and will definitely not be our last, it’s a wonderful unique and intimate venue for seeing live music with the most amazing staff and exceptional service. Thank you Michael, Jenny & Tracy and all your lovely staff. Karen & Edward x

As regular visitors to Trading Boundaries, both in the day for purchasing boutique Indian Furniture and in the evenings for their gigs in the Elephant Cafe, we had high expectations to try one of their new hotel rooms - they didn’t disappoint. In fact, they were more than exceeded. We chose our opportunity to coincide with the Zombies gig last Friday night. We booked a dinner-included ticket (which was sumptuous) and had excellent attention from the staff on what was clearly a very busy evening. The gig itself was what we’d come to expect - a very high level of performance in a beautiful, laid back setting. As we were staying in the same location, there was no need for a late Taxi which was so convenient! As for the room itself, it was immaculately presented and the bathroom facilities were excellent (especially the water pressure in the shower!). We can’t wait to come back!

Superb evening watching The Doors in Concert. The whole evening was great from start to finish, food, ambience, staff all on point. The entry was a welcome one, our host showed us to our seats and we had pre-ordered our drinks in advance so wine was ready and waiting! We had some nice fresh bread and olives and enjoyed our wine before our main course was served I had chicken and my wife had salmon both pleasant. The compare (one of the owners I think) gave a nice introduction and explained in detail about the other acts they had coming up. Then the band played and we were instantly transported back to the 1960s. We had a great time and hats off to the bar staff and waiting staff they looked like they were working very hard whilst maintaining a sense of composure in a very very busy room. There was a card on each table of which you could scan a code and order a drink, so simple and so effective surprised more people were not using it. Well done all involved, we can't wait to attend another event.

My partner and I went to Trading Boundaries for Sunday brunch. It was a truly wonderful experience. There was live jazz playing and we had the best Eggs Benedict that I've ever tasted. Michael, the owner was welcoming and friendly, as were all the young staff. And it was surprisingly romantic, but then I'm a sucker for romance - we even had a covert dance in one of the alcoves. We have friends who are regulars and have been on at us for ages to sample the delights of Trading Boundaries and I wish we had heeded their suggestion earlier. It's a lovely setting, with rooms full of interesting art work and furniture and well worth a visit just on that basis. However the food and music evenings are the icing on the cake. In an intimate setting you can sit at your own table and enjoy a thoroughly professional concert almost within touching distance of the performers. In the past three months alone we've seen Lifesigns, Barock Project, Focus, Last Night of the Proms, Yes Please, Oye Santana and most recently Simon and Garfunkul Through the Years. We also went for coffee on another occasion, and asked for coffee the waiting staff were not busy but they forgot about us and we had to get up from there seats to remind them, and felt we wre interrupting their private conversation. My wife and I visited for the first time on Wednesday. The large house with pretty garden looked inviting so we thought we would stop by. We entered via the front door and instantly were met with a large Indian taxi that had been turned into a bar! Very very cool. The sights and smells were amazing, it was like travelling into a different world, the kind of amazement you experience on holiday when you find something unusual. We looked around for a while and ventured upstairs to find the most amazing artwork by an artist called Roger Dean (we didn't know who that was) a very helpful man called Christian explained in great detail the history of the artist and some of the amazing art we sort of recognised but were not sure why (turns out they were album covers). We then had lunch in the vast cafe - opting to sit inside as temperatures were very high that day! We both had a salad and glass of wine for £10 each, given the quality and the friendly service from the manager and her staff we thought that was very reasonable. The staff were doing very well in the heat! We felt totally at home, looked after when needed and left alone to chat too. We then explored the courtyard to the rear of the building there were a variety of shops, my wife bought some clothing from the one on the end and I browsed the new record shop, very nostalgic. We purchased a few bits and pieces in the main house and will definitely return to buy furniture for our house when we move. Christian was very hands-on we saw him in various places around the site, getting stuck in, we assumed he was the owner, very proud and hardworking. All of the people there were so friendly and we can't wait to visit again and do some more relaxed shopping! Many thanks to all we met and making us feel so welcome if only more shops were like this......

One word gorgeous - sat outside on the terrace overlooking the garden. Nice to see some different things on the menu - we both opted for the chicken tikka brioche with fries and aioli. One word of advice if you are a couple you both have to eat the aioli or send your other half to the spare room. It was delicious but VERY garlicky. We really enjoyed our lunch. Worth a visit.

Wife and I took a table in the back of this maze of goodies for a sit down meal with Just Floyd, a talented tribute to the original Pink Floyd. In one hand you have a fascinating labyrinth of antiques and collectables, and in the other you have a man with a vision. We chatted with the owner briefly, who has recreated the prog rock scene in his back room. He's done it incredibly well. The room was decorated elaborately, lush with giant golden buddhas, black starlit ceiling cloth, ancient pillars. The dropped seated area feels like a London Jazz Club and whole effect leaves you feeling like you're on a Yes album cover. The food was great. The music was great. I felt that the price was great, and they do this all the time with all manner of tribute acts. I'm pretty sure that any of these events would make an admirable gift to share with the other half. We'll be back for sure. Give it a shot.

It would have been 4 stars but for what we had I found it a bit expensive. For lunch I had a sandwich (which comes with trimmings) and my wife had a salad. We both had a good slice of cake with a coffee to wash it down. So I suppose I shouldn't really be surprised that the bill came to £32, given that it is out-of-the-way in a nice location. Service was good, and they've invested in the gardens since I was last there, which has made a lovely outdoor space at the rear. I did go and see a Santana tribute band here last year which was a great evening.

I spend the day driving in Sussex in the High Weald area yesterday. What a wonderful area it is. I stopped at Trading Boundaries for a late lunch. It was idyllic to sit in the garden and enjoy the great weather and excellent food. I then found the Roger Dean Gallery a bought a print for my study. A great day our from London for me. I will be visiting again !

On a sunny weekday afternoon I was in the area and decided to call in to Trading Boundaries for a browse and some refreshment. I made my way though the cafe/restaurant area and noted the signed advising customers should take a seat and would be attended by waiting staff. So I found a table outside and waited. While I was sitting there three more groups of people arrived and took seats at various tables outside. All were asked by staff what they wanted to eat or drink but for some reason they completely ignored me.

A real let down after my recent visit to the elephant cafe! Having been a regular customer for years I feel that the menu is now very poor. I ordered an ice coffee and it was served in a Harvey’s Beer pint glass!! We didn’t stay for lunch due to the lack of choice.

First time here, to see Colin Blunstone, the whole experience of having dinner a few feet from the stage was great. The staff were very attentive, will be back without a doubt.

We had booked the restaurant for a family lunch on Mothers' Day, with two mothers in our party. We all selected the two course set menu - main course and dessert. Not a lot of choice but enough that everyone could find something to eat. Unfortunately when the mains arrived we mistook them for starters as they were very small, and cold as well. We sent them back but apart from warming them up, nothing changed. When it came to desserts again the portion size was small. Overall we felt the experience was poor value for money, and it was disappointing that the lunch served up detracted from what should have been a special occasion. To be fair the waiting staff tried to do their best but they couldn't really make up for the poor service by the kitchen.

We have been regulars at TB's music evenings for several years but decided to forgo the dining options 18 months ago as the food was disappointing, instead we just enjoyed great music. We heard a whisper that the food may have improved, it has out of all recognition. We had dining tickets for Martin Turners Wishbone Ash (excellent). A nice touch on arrival were very light goat cheese tarts. Belly pork with red cabbage and mash was good better still my other half's cod with chorizo and sweetcorn veloute which was outstanding as were both deserts a delicate take on Eton Mess and Lemon Possett with rhubarb. TB has a new female chef who has transformed the food from standard cafe fare to something much more refined.

Came to see ELO Show! Was not dissapointed! Delicious meal before show ! Friendly staff ! Maybe a little squashed on the table but otherwise excellent! And the ELO Show was amazing! Highly recommend to everyone! Lost my voice by the end of the evening from singing ! Congratulations to the owner on a fabulous venue and knowing what people want!

We visited with friends who live in Haywards Heath. I’ve been before a few years ago, so I was looking forward to a return visit. When we arrived there was a power cut. The jazz duo were still playing by candlelight - they were excellent. We wanted to have lunch but they had sent the chef home! We had cold drinks and then coffees when the power came on after about half an hour. We ended up having lunch at a nearby pub.

Having been a longstanding customer of TB's I was surprised and disappointed to experience such a mediocre afternoon tea recently. Scones being extracted from commercial cellophane wrapping in front of customers is not a good look - surely they are home/handmade at such an establishment? A lack of choice of biscuits, flapjacks, shortbread etc and not a particularly 'tidy' environment in which to enjoy what there was on offer is not the TB’s Café I am used to! Perhaps we just happened to choose an ‘off day’ and it’s in transition with new ownership/management to give it the benefit of doubt? However, to equal its previous/usual high standards this once ‘talk of the town’ shopping venue needs some serious TLC. The toilets appeared ‘neglected’ not to put too fine a point on it. The Courtyard is sadly also lacking with several units now currently closed. Even the once thriving main house shopping area looked ‘tired’ and absent of new merchandise. Hopefully ‘normal service’ will resume again soon, it’s such a unique and fun establishment, be a real shame to lose it.

We attended Clem Burkes bootleg blondie in January this year and it was an amazing night! I as a local really appreciate the work that goes into getting calibre bands like this to play here so hats off to all that arrange these fantastic nights. We have been on quite a few occassions and have always been impressed with the quality of the food, the ambience but most importantly the caring attitude that comes with the staff who work here.I was highly surprised to read an earlier review from a somewhat disgruntled(dare i say slightly bitter?) person who seemed to have a moan about everything! All i can say is i would have paid to see a soundcheck especially if it had been the one with Clem Burke!

Popped into this building in the middle of Sussex and enjoyed a nice soup lunch on a cold January day. Followed by a walk around the retail shops and all very different. I see they have music nights with some great names from the passed. Worth a visit.

Gone is the juicy burger with salad and fantastic coleslaw only to be replaced with a grey, dry processed offering, a teaspoon of relish, a dead lettuce leaf and a plate full of chips.

We were looking for a place to have coffee and cake after Michelham Priory house and garden visit. We discovered this lively and quirky tea garden. It was very busy with groups of families and friends. It was organised and provided a friendly service.

Dreadful menu and terrible service. Menu was limited to say the least and they didn’t have what I wanted. Had breakfast there this morning and couldn’t have poached eggs only fried, reason being ‘we only have 1 chef’ ……a chef who can’t poach eggs!!!!
