Traders Arms in Ribble Valley

Previously been last year and it was good for a large meal but this time wanted a lite lunch which was as filling. Excellent and welcoming service staff. Plenty of choice with menus available. The garlic mushrooms were delicious but would have liked the bread roll a little warmer. Sandwiches were delicious with side salad and chips such great value. Dessert was delicious and beautifully presented. Good value and nice atmosphere

Chunky delicious cod fillet with amazing chorizo sauce and succulent lamb shanks! Great food as always 10/10 Highly recommend visiting here.

Yes it's very good for a casual meal and the drinks 🍸 very good. There's plenty of parking spaces available it easy to get to for birthdays or any type of parties.

What a lovely pub!. Arrived dripping wet and with muddy hiking boots - we were made so welcome. The service and food was great too. The chocolate pudding was scrummy xx

Came out of the blue as the usual eatery wasn't serving. Must admit I am impressed. I had the famous cheese pie. Delicious Partner had the sausage and mash, look to be fresh butchers sausages, she scoffed the lot. And the lad got the steak pie! Massive portion. Loads of steak! £53 all in all, with 2 soft drinks and water bottle Will definitely be back!

Probably the best Sunday Lunch I've had in a long time. Roast chicken, roast potatoes, 2 Yorkshire puddings, broccoli and carrot & swede mash. Chocolate pudding with pouring cream for dessert. Yummy Friendly but but not intrusive staff Forgot to take a pic of the mains but here's some desserts

We celebrated my Mums 60th birthday here on Saturday, 7th October, as a party of 10. We booked our table a few weeks prior & pre-ordered our food a few days before the day. We were welcomed by smiley, friendly staff. The place was really clean and modern. Everyone absolutely loved their home cooked, delicious food. Drinks prices were reasonable and the staff were more than happy to bring out the cake we had arranged for us after our meal. I'm so glad we chose this place on our visit, we were staying nearby in a holiday home, and if we're in the area again, we will definitely return. 10/10. Thank-you 😊

We visited the traders arms last night for the first time in a good few years. We live locally to Mellor and after a horrendous last visit we have been put off going until we heard great things. Myself and my husband are somewhat glad we came! The food was delicious and great value for money and the service was outstanding. The women with the blonde hair chelsea was just incredible, she was very busy however always found time to see if we was ok, we needed anything else, recommendations and overall just a chat. This definitely will be a new firm favourite for us after years of not coming. Thank you for a pleasant visit

Having worked in the 'Pub Trade' most of my life,I'm always amazed when they stop serving food with 3 or 4 more hours of 'trading opportunity. This place takes last food orders at 7.45pm, even on Saturday night. The net result of this was that the Dining Room was in darkness by 9.00pm; they were playing some excellent 80's music, with speakers only in the dining area and not the rest of the pub, with nobody in it to enjoy the music. The food itself was of excellent quality, with the spectacular Frank Littler's sausages and real chips to die for. I think that the addition of Gingham Table Cloths and 'T' Lights would make all the difference,plus the addition of "Grey Pound" favourites such as roast dinners, casseroles and braised steak and onion gravy would bring 'The Punters flocking in;also taking last food orders at 9.30 or 10.pm if open till midnight. This place could easily generate a further £20 to £40k profit per year.

Great Food , Great Service and Great Prices. Took Mum for a surprise Birthday Lunch and chose The Traders Arms as they gave a good selection of food to suit everyone, and for Mum who doesn’t eat Veg or Dishes with Sauces or seasoning there was plenty of choice besides the usual Fish and Chips on offer at most places . We arrived to a warm welcome, the food was hot and delicious, although I was a little disappointed with just the 2 Sausages with the Sausage and Mash . Mum had the Scampi which came with chunky homemade chips and they accommodated Mums needs and swapped the Garden Peas for Beans. The Mint Aero Cheesecake was as equally delicious and we left full to bursting. We will definitely be back

A very full pub, no booking but within 15mins we were taken to a table and food came a short time later. Caesar salad one of the best I've had. Lovely skinny fries. Efficient friendly staff. Very highly recommended!

Myself, along with the mates come every Wednesday for food & the quiz. What a cracking night it is. Firstly the food is brilliant, great menu, ample portion and great value for money. The quiz master Connor is fantastic at what he does. The quiz has such a variation and the atmosphere is great. The 2 women behind the bar, chelsea & dawn are remarkable, they are swamped every Wednesday but are so efficient with bar service and always have a laugh with us, the buffet food is also brilliant to say you pay £2 too, there’s plenty of it and it’s always a hit with us all. If you’re after a laugh, a great quiz, a packed atmosphere with great food and great bar staff then pop down on a Wednesday and you won’t be disappointed. You have to get there in plenty of time to get a seat though as they usually all go, but fear not as the 2 ladies chelsea & dawn will play musical chairs to fit you all in. Great night

Food was lovely but the service was poor. I had to go to the bar for my drinks because the waitresses kept ignoring us. The bar staff looked miserable like they didn’t want to be there. Very poor experience, don’t think I’ll be returning.

Had the Ploughman’s- loads of good ham and a nice pork pie. Best Ploughman’s I’ve had for a long time. Replace the white with brown granary and it’d be perfect. Prices reasonable and good to see they’re using the village butcher.

I believe this pub changed ownership quite recently and the place is really buzzing.There was barely a table spare when I arrived at 7.30 on a Friday night and the car park too was almost full.Our party of 8 all had 3 courses and the food was good without beiing exceptional.My mushroom starter was very good but lacked a chunk of bread to lap up the juices.Mince and onion main course was plentiful and ok and ice cream to finish comprised 3 scoops of chocolate,strawberry and vanilla with a flake and again a good portion.Service was very good and prices are reasonable.If you have been disappointed here in the past try it again now as the new people seem to be making a big effort to reesatablish this place.

Since Pizza oven in, good trade on very good takeway Pizza's, lovely thin bases. Always busy BUT drinks expensive - ie Peroni and Vodka and tonic £10.85 up at Spread £9.90, whilst not a fortunes would be good as a local if prices more in line

In recent years the Traders has offered a fairly routine and limited pub grub menu, but with the new management comes a selection of Italian dishes with some of the best thin-crust pizza I've had in ages. The pub staples are still there but the Marinara did it for me. I was told that the new pizza oven was specially imported from Italy. A nice scattering of local couples and groups of friends. We went on a Wednesday night; there was a quiz later but we didn't stay for it.

Pub has got new owners who have added some lovely Italian meals to the menu and they have started doing takeouts. Exactly what our village needed.

I was looking for lunch while I was visiting Mellor, was directed to the Traders by a local resident out walking their dog. The pub is bright and clean, with a welcoming atmosphere, staff are helpful and knowledgeable, the menu is small enough to be manageable, while having something to suit everyone. It has Italian favourites as well as traditional English dishes, I had the " Trio of local sausages" which was served on mashed potatoes with fresh vegetables and a delicious onion gravy. My partner had the haddock with a Sicilian sauce,served with perfect chips, and was moved to declare it the best meal this year! All things considered (the prices are very reasonable) this is the best eating experience in the Ribble Valley. An absolure gem!

After a day of driving, this place was a welcome reprive. All the tables and anything you would expect to see dust was spotless. Lovely staff and great atmosphere

We went without booking and was a bit wary when we saw how busy the car park was. We managed to get a table and the menu gave a wide variety of options. The new owner is an Italian gentleman and there is an Italian influence on the menu. The food was excellent with large portions. Service was good but maybe could have done with an extra person. we called in for lunch and were very pleasantly surprised with this pub. Has a lovely feel to it and a good menu, with a few different veggie options and reasonable prices. Decent sized portions and was well cooked and came piping hot. We all had something different and finished with 4 empty plates. Everyone was happy with their choices and had nothing but praise for the food. we dont often have a pudding, but the lure of Jam Roly Poly was too much for 2 of us and we succumbed. It finished the meal off perfectly. We will definitely be going back and already planning what I will be having next time. Well worth a visit.

First night in the Shepherd's hut and hungry, Mellor was suggested but the recommendation though they served good beer the menu looked very expensive so we had a look through the village and found the Traders Arms, busy for a Sunday evening but as we booked in the afternoon we were OK. The bitter, Thwaites was very good but the food was out of this world, I can eat but what was put in front of me was challenging, I had opted for the mixed grill and it was superb, really there should have been a health warning, but I cleared the plate, my wife said there was four meals for me at home. My wife also enjoyed here Chicken dish, another good plate full. We'll done is all I can say, good beer, good food and good service.

We've driven past The Traders Arms so many times and never visited. However we decided to give it a try one Sunday evening. The menu has plenty of choice, accompanied by very good service. The food was all cooked to order, well presented and delicious - and reasonably priced too! We won't be driving past again - we'll be calling in for more of their lovely food!

I visit the traders on a regular basis whether that's, alone for a quick pint, with family great food or a lads nights. The staff are very welcoming, the beer is great, friendly atmosphere. Free pool on a Monday which my 9 year old loves.

I visited for lunch with two of my friends. The pub was very quiet but we were made so welcome by both the landlady and the young lady behind the bar. My two friends both had hot beef sandwich with red onion marmalade with chips and salad which they both devoured and was only £6.95 each if I remember correctly. I had scampi and chips from the smaller appetites part of the extensive menu and it was more than ample and just big enough that all three of us had room for the lovely toffee honeycomb cheesecake. A very pleasant two hours, we will be back!

The food and service were spectacular, my only issue would be the divide between drinking and eating in the restaurant. To have one of your biggest tables dead centre in the eating area is not a good practice, the level of noise coming from said table is quite unbearable and even worse to have it directly described as a drinking table by your staff is very concerning, it does not allow for a quiet and plesant dining experience and I personally believe you should consider your floor plan more carefully.

Novelty of the new landlord/landlady has worn off walked in on a Saturday night whilst they had an act on and sadly only a handful of people at the bar, looks like they have obviously upset a few people as the last night we went in you couldn't move, it would be such a shame o see a decent pub go under... thwaites need to seriously have a look at who they are employing to run their pubs

Went for a quick bite here with friends who live locally. The building had recently undergone refurbishment and looked clean and fresh, comfortable furnishings and very pleasant staff. The food was home cooked, nothing fancy, but everything we had was tasty. Would recommend the dishes for the smaller appetite, they were just the right size for a small to medium appetite and very reasonably priced.

We had lunched here in November last year at were impressed with both the service and the quality of the food. Returning to the UK after an extended period away we wanted to take my mother in law out for lunch to celebrate her birthday so chose to come back. It was a bank holiday Monday and my son booked for 6 of us and was advised that we needed to ‘book’ our meals the day before. We assumed this was because they were expecting to be busy, nothing could have been further from the truth. On arrival we spotted the ‘Specials’ board and myself and my sons girlfriend asked if we could change our orders and have the Sea Bass - we had both pre ordered salads so didn’t think there would be a problem. We were told no, can’t be changed ‘she’s already prepared them’. Ok, so we sit and wait. My husbands Prawn Cocktail starter (he was the only one who ordered a starter) arrived after 20 minutes. It was a generous portion and he enjoyed it. After about another 35 minutes the rest of the food arrived, our ‘salads’ consisted of a mound of badly dressed (as in tasteless) finely shredded iceberg & radicchio topped with finely chopped unripe tomato, cucumber, red pepper & onion. Joanne’s ‘prawn & avocado’ version had the same prawns as the prawn cocktail and some very under ripe avocado. My ‘salmon’ version had a nicely poached piece of salmon that had every bit of moisture removed. No sauce was offered. Both were served with a giant chunk of bread. My husbands liver had been cooked to the constituency of shoe leather. The two portions of fish and chips were fine & my son ate all of his sausage and mash because he was very hungry but has enjoyed better quality elsewhere.

It's been a long while now since The Traders has been as good as this. Great staff, well-priced drinks, decent atmosphere and nice food, plus a lovely beer-garden.

Hard working family business that would have been successful 30 years ago, but sadly, tastes have moved on. Needs a professional chef in the kitchen with a less meat based menu that caters for modern taste. One vegetarian choice, - the usual mushroom stroganoff, no vegan choice. Good disabled access. Small outside garden with no children’s toys or playground.

We have been a few times in the past few years and it hasn’t always been very quiet with little atmosphere. The new management team have certainly improved the atmosphere of the place and it seems much busier. They offer steak and quiz nights each week and appear to be doing a great job.

Nice little place landlord needs to change his face as we walked through the door he had face like a bulldog licking urine of nettles. Cosy little pub, nice menu, never heard of Tabasco sauce so I’m not sure how they make Bloody Mary!! Menu says lamb henry but what arrived was a shank from a miniature lamb! Overall not bad!!

Great Pub Restaurant, great value, good food, though steaks at £12 are not same quality as you would expect at twice the price, I've had a few of the other dishes off the varied menu and always been delighted. Portions are huge, even the light bites! So as I say, great value. friendly service, spacious and comfortable, "Turns" on some nights, big car park, no significant step to enter, but if you are going on Saturday, may pay to book in advance if you want to avoid the few steps to the secondary dining area. I called the Traders Arm on the day asking for a table for 4 people, they were very booked up but made every effort to find us a table. On arrival we were greeted warmly and the service of both drinks and food was excellent. A place we will be definitely going again soon and a place we could take friends to dine too.
