Town Mill Bakery in West Dorset

my sister and I enjoyed a lovely home cooked breakfast 🥣 in this establishment. Not cheap, but large portions. The seating is the sharing of long benches

Very poor, was desperate for some food, so thought I would risk it, not a wise move, it felt unclean and the cooks where cross contaminating the food, poor English breakfast crammed on a small plate, burnt bacon and tiny sausage, the rest of the plate with Some kind of beans and 5 tomatoes and a tone of bread. The other meals were bland and dry and tasteless. Even the tea served was dry so there was no taste. Needs to improve in all levels, for the price.

This place has never failed to impress, simple food done very very well and tasty. It's has been a while... thanks 👏🏾

On the first day we got takeout coffee and some pastries (recommend the hot cross bun!) and then on the second day we went for a sit-down brunch which was excellent

Have outside tables and inside also a little shop. Dogs allowed in outer bit. Food is lovely. Not open every day and shut at 2pm in winter. So check first.

Excellent fresh food and delicious coffee. Service was spot on too - can't fault this place. The pancakes with choc sauce were sublime!

Such a delicious breakfast! We went for creamy mushrooms and toasted sandwich. Would highly recommend this place! Coffee and hot choc was amazing! You must come!

Vegetarian Breakfast and Turkish Breakfast with Salmon both very good. 10/10. Very friendly staff with excellent service. It’s a long way from home but I would certainly come back here when next down.

We had a wonderful experience at this fantastic place! The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was delightful. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly staff member who made us feel very welcome. Although the menu wasn't massive, it offered a diverse selection of dishes to choose from. The seating area featured long benches and tables, providing a perfect setting for groups of all sizes to enjoy a meal together. One of the highlights was watching the food being cooked in the open plan kitchen, adding to the overall dining experience. We highly recommend this place and can't wait to visit again soon for another enjoyable meal.

Great full English breakfast and a sausage sandwich sitting outside on a warm February day in Lyme. Service was attentive and quick and the food, coffee and hot chocolate were really excellent. The shop at the back acts as a bakers with a full array of delicious breads. Take away food and hot drinks also available.

Don’t know what happened this morning guys - I asked if it was okay to come in and buy some pastries for our journey home and when in the shop I was made to feel very unwelcome. It’s a shame we’ve enjoyed some good meals here and indeed spent most of our holiday budget for eating out with you. I’m going home feeling down and feeling like I can’t come back although I wish you well.

I was leading a group of 14 walkers (Walking with Friends) down to and around Lyme Regis. As we passed Town Mill Bakery and Cafe I asked if they could handle our group for coffee and cake. It was our lucky day; they said yes no problem come in! It turned out to be a wonderful experience, with lovely staff serving magnificent coffee and even more magnificent home baked croissant, pan au raisin, cake and so much more. Fabulous food, best coffee & croissants I had since my trip to Paris. Its so big inside they can cater for large groups yet it is also perfect for small groups and couples. We go to Lyme once a month and we will now be relaxing at Town Mill Bakery....Thank you!

We had a delicious breakfast and coffee for two. The staff were great, friendly, welcoming and attentive. A lovely, cosy space which we will continue to return to when visiting Lyme. Thank you Jeremy and team!

This is my favourite café in Lyme. The food is freshly made and delicious, there's a great choice of cakes and the coffee is really good. Spent the weekend in Lyme Regis and decided to give the place a go as it looked different,wow it was amazing lovely staff and the food was delicious and very very generous portions will definitely be back when we next visit.

My Mrs brought me to Lyme Regis for the weekend for my Birthday and before we left today 8th Oct we went here for lunch. What a gem lovely food and lovely staff. Amazing place

This is a popular stop off for the locals and the tourists. The coffee's were good as I guessed with the number of reviews the Town Mill bakery has got. The Mediterranean Veggie toasted on Sourdough was great, snd the Mushrooms on toast were almost as good. Very doggie friendly and loads of space so you don't feel crammed in. If takeaways are your thing, walk up uo yhe Town Mill and see the working water wheel or head to the beach and do some people watching. For thd bargain hunters, there are plenty of op shops to stroll around, candy shops and boutique shops to poke around in. Definitely worthy of a stop when you're heading to Lyme Regis

Wow. What an awesome find. It was a beautiful sunny September day and we sat outside. Staff were extremely attentive, drinks and food came not long after we'd ordered them. The food was outstanding, everything was tasty, fresh and well presented. Will definitely be returning 😄

This really is a local gem, hidden away from the hustle and bustle serving the most delicious food. We found it by chance, and so glad we did! If you’re looking for breakfast or brunch, don’t go anywhere else. It’s fresh, delicious and the staff are lovely! We can’t wait to go back.

Miserable staff; mediocre food - a smile and a warm welcome cost nothing. Overpriced for what it is. Plenty of other lovely places to eat. Don't recommend.

Lovely little place! Discovered it when we were exploring Lyme Regis and so happy we went in. They had a few vegan options too and it was delicious. The shop sells some nice local bits.

A perfect cafe, we were so thrilled to find this. Lovely setting, excellent coffee and truly phenomenal fresh pastries. We’d come back here in a heartbeat.

Was under the impression they baked the croissants and other pastry items in house but I believe they’re brought in, which , given the high price point doesn’t make this café worth while.

Great find tucked away off the main road. Lovely food, atmosphere and service, what more could you ask for? What impressed me was the variety of dishes that are little out of the ordinary which made the visit even more enjoyable. Don't be fooled into thinking they just offer rolls and cakes. I also love places with open kitchens so you can see the food being prepared. Enjoy!

Good Americano and Flat White. Would love to try their coffee drip. We were not looking for a heavy breakfast, so ordered avocado & toast and the poached eggs. Perfect portions to start us off on a big day of adventure. Service was great.

Bad service, condescending staff

This is THE BEST breakfast place I may have ever been to. Their food is insanely delicious, they are generous with their amounts and it’s so affordable! Hidden gem ❤️‍🩹 they also have the best pancakes!

Fab breakfast perfect poached eggs

Seems good for serious cooked breakfast. However I wanted to sit and have coffee + croissant. Wait to be seated...serious menu. If you want c+c order inside, they make and give you coffee, croissant comes from "take away" mini shop. Croissant very bready and heavy, not recommended. Those inside with serious stuff seemed very happy

Difficult to rate. If this place was in Oslo (where I live) I'd have given it 3 stars. The bread, food and coffee is good, but not as good as similar places I'm used to, while for Lyme Regis and nearby areas it's a rare gem to find sourdough bread and decent black coffee. The service was excellent.

We really liked it. The food was good, well priced. Service was good. They may want to look at hiw they store some of the dried goods, but we will go again.

Found this place on Tripadvisor whilst on holiday, and were so glad we did. We had a delicious lunch - one curry and one beef brisket sandwich and both were great. Highly recommend.

We stopped as a family for coffee, cake and a bite to eat. This was one of our favourite finds in Dorset! Gorgeous food, amazing coffee, an epic sausage sandwich all served by super friendly and very patient staff! Final gold star from us…. Dog friendly and they mean it, beds and blankets as well as water bowls and snacks! I’ll definitely recommend it!

Cafe made for a great refueling spot before heading back over the hill on my 🚲. Turkish eggs were great and staff were lovely and accommodating.

Stopped for coffee and cake. Barista seemed to be struggling to keep up as drinks took about 15 minutes to arrive. Pain au chocolat was inedible - very stodgy with no laminations/flakiness whatsoever. Waitress agreed to take it off the bill but haughtily told us that it was absolutely fine and "perhaps just not what you're used to" which was unnecessarily patronising. Eccles cake was excellent.

Their curry was great, nice portion size and the apple juice was very tasty. Service was good and staff very friendly. A little bit of a wait on Saturday, but worth it

Was really excited about visiting for lunch having read good reviews but was given a frosty reception and ordered to queue behind a poorly placed A-board, right in the way of the waitress and the customers moving around their large table. A second waitress seemed so annoyed with the already-seated customers who failed to respond when a couple of their meals arrived, and then at someone in the queue for a table who was trying to stay out of the way that we left and went elsewhere instead. Seemed like a stylish place but staff had a poor attitude during our brief stint in the table queue.

Stopped here for breakfast. Bakery has an ajoining cafe/restaurant. Outside and indoor seating on benches. Everything is cooked in front of you. Service and food were excellent.

there is simply not a better bakery in the south west, my family visit nearly every week. It’s right by the sea and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Our favourite little place.

Lovely food here! We love the beaf brisket sandwiches, pancakes, side salad and side salmons. The coffee is very nice. We will come back again.

I went here with my partner expecting to show them what it used to be.. But of course it's changed now. We had a gorgeous hot chocolate each and saw the tremendous food being served out to Many customers looked stunning. I did used to love watching the chefs making all the pain au chocolate along their long worktops it was like a wishing theatre of food .it is still very nice and the food looked lovely. Worth a visit.

We were given a very warm welcome and shown to a table - they are all long with long benches either side. The coffee was really flavoursome with no bitterness or aftertaste (I call them "sit up and pay attention" coffees, as they're quite rare). The lemon cake, chocolate brownie and pain au raisin we're all delicious. We bought a slice of chocolate cake and a rocky road, from their shop next door, to take home. They we're equally delicious. We will return for a meal very soon. Highly recommended.

Absolutely 💯 delicious food, my husband is vegetarian and was also very happy with his choices. My husband had Welsh rarebit and was very happy. I chose the Turkish eggs with smoked salmon and was absolutely delicious. We hope to come here again. From Rochester, Kent.

Well, we are here 4 times in one week suggesting this cafe is amazing. Beautifully cooked and presented food, wonderful atmosphere and fab friendly staff. You won't find better. I had the green brunch (I think it was called), the others with me had various different options including the wonderful pancakes with maple syrup. 10/10.
