Had a wonderful Sunday lunch . The portion was just right . The Yorkshire pudding was one of the best I've ever had. Veg & chicken were cooked perfect & the whole meal was so tasty . Extra onion gravy served hot in a gravy boat & cauliflower cheese served separately. Worth every penny . Compliments to the chef . I'll definitely be back .

always nice to find a traditional pub..in a city....serving wholesome fresh food...we had the Sunday lunch...for around 13 pound....choice of beef..chicken...gammon...or a nut roast....I chose the beef and the missus chicken...both plentiful on the plate and very nice...served with yorkshire pudding and seasonal vegetables..with a side dish of cauliflower cheese...all in all well worth the money and very tasty....hats off to the chef....washed down with a traditional beer and a red wine for the missus...highly recommended..will be back....yum yum

Was recommended here by friends but did not know it had changed hands recently, staffed seemed to be still getting the hang of things so was quite slow. We were informed there was a delay in ordering and wouldn’t be able to order for at least another 45 mins. Food eventually came but was bland! Reminded me of school dinners, lumpy mash potato shaped out of an ice cream scoop and boiled veg, not the best! Meat was ok May be for some people or maybe we had a bad experience.

Lovely little pub. Only found it after searching Google for pub food and saw it's only a two minute walk from The Light, where we were heading for the cinema later. Had the full range of Timothy Taylor's cask ales on, so had three while I was there. Also had the Sunday Roast lunch (which is all they offer on Sundays), which was very nice. Nice friendly staff who are knowledgeable about the beers. Will have to try and pop in on another day of the week as I quite fancied the Steak and Ale Pie.

This is a wonderful pub in a great location. However for the past year and many times visiting the beer is either not available or stale. This is a good place to get a traditional Sunday roast. Paulicarus has been before. A traditional pub in the Timothy Taylor's estate oddly located near the Town Hall. A full range of Taylor's beers on the impressive bank of handpumps. Paulicarus chose the Boltmaker bitter three times. Very good. We all ordered the roast beef at £13.95. Chicken and gammon were also available plus a veggie option. Asked the bar staff for recommendations for the next pub..and it was a great choice..The Templar hotel.

The Town Hall Tavern has been my favourite place to drink and eat for years. I am not sure if it is new management or what but my last visit was simply dreadful! The food was both shocking and over-priced and the staff spent more time looking at their 'phones than serving customers. What an absolute shame that this fine institution that I have frequented for over 40 years has become so awful.

What has happened to the lovely THT? It felt more like a Wetherspoons than a gastro pub as it always used to be. Just full of people shouting and swearing - food looked cheap and nasty - total atmosphere change. What a shame - was always our “go to” for a guaranteed decent meal and drink in a friendly place, but it feels completely different now. Avoid unless you like an edgy, rough vibe!

Those of us who work around the west end of the city centre are glad to see that the THT, as everyone calls it, has re-opened. There aren't many pubs left this end of town. Currently they are serving excellent Tim Taylor's beer. Not sure about the current food offering but the gastro pub menu seems to have been abandoned, sadly. There are new people in charge as of March 2022 so good luck to them: we need a decent pub!

THT used to be our regular after work drinks venue but it has gone completely downhill. It used to have a lovely warm welcoming feeling but now is cold and soulless. There's absolutely no atmosphere and not even any background music to take the edge off. The service wasn't great either. There were no menus to be seen so I can't comment on whether they still serve food and if so, what it's like however, I did ask for a bag of dry roasted peanuts and was told they only had one bag of salted peanuts in the pub. The beer selection is still good but when I asked what wine they had was told to just look at the shelf. Such a shame that this has happened to one of my former favourites, but I won't be returning.

I popped in for a drink. It was a Monday evening and very quiet. There were perhaps two or three other small groups in the place. You could hear yourself think. This is a traditional Yorkshire pub serving Timothy Taylor's beers. There is a good range of 5 or 6 of these: Landlord, Bolt Maker, a blonde beer a dark mild and a couple of others all on cask and although I can't vouch for all of them, the two I tried (Landlord and Bolt Maker) were very well kept. In addition there was a pump serving keg beers, at least one of which was a continental lager. The toilets were clean and there was a wide-door facility for wheelchair users. In days gone by I have eaten a very nice lunch in the place, but I didn't try food this time. I'd say this is a pub for the more mature drinker. It isn't trendy in any way and although there's music, it stays very much in the background so there's no need to shout. It's light and airy, but there are sufficient nooks and corners for those of a conspiratorial bent. In a word, nice.

I went on a Sunday for a dinner and it wasn't what I was expecting. It was brought out and and looked amazing if a little small. As me and my partner went to eat we realised how terrible it was. The meat was still pink-they hadn't asked how we wanted it and the roast potatoes tasted strange. The veg was a little to much Al dente. To top it off it was massively overpriced. I went back yesterday with my brother to have some special time which was ruined due to the draft beer being disgusting. The barmaid when I first went did tell me there were loads of complaints about the beer and gave me a tester first time which was OK but the next time I picked a different pint to my utter dismay. The biggest regret I have is not been able to give less than one star...

Tasty Sunday Lunch… we visited the THT yesterday for lunch, the first time under new management… we were unsure if the previous Sunday roast which was very much to our taste, would have changed much… however it was more or less the same and very good! We would have liked the vegetables to have been just a little less ‘al dente’ and there was no evidence of the fresh herbs that used to be added to the roast parsnips/potatoes which all add to the taste but plenty of gravy, delicious roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. The staff were also very friendly and helpful but please note their online booking system isn’t working again yet so you have to phone to book!
