Lovely Sunday Roast at Lamb and Flag! Very friendly staff and a good atmosphere upstairs

After paying the wrong amount your answer to my complaint sounds like its my fault because I havent check the bill and just trust. Also meaning you are so unlucky because another client haven't pay again the money that I have already paid. It doesn't seems to be an exception after learning the same happened to many friends. "Such is life" is not.the answer that a client woulld like to hear.

We did not eat, just called in for a drink. Service was good, young lady ensured all glassware was spotless before pouring a drink. With fiends who have hired a room for a function looking forward to returning.

Bit more on the expensive side, but worth the money, friendly staff, decent vibe, and decent seating upstairs and outside, too

We had a Sunday lunch here on Easter Sunday. The food was okay but took a long time to come. The service was very slow and they seemed to be understaffed. It was also quite cold in the upstairs restaurant area, which made it uncomfortable. I won’t go back in a hurry. It’s so difficult to get a good quality Sunday Roast!

Lovley pub and great food. Only thing that let it down was wouldn't substitute icecream on dessert for cream... so couldn't have a dessert.

Went on a Tuesday night. It was still a good atmosphere with plenty in. Table booked for 20:30, we were early, the staff were more then accommodating. Food was 100% top dollar. Fantastic food. Simple but full menu. Staff were excellent and friendly. We will certainly be going again 👍

Nice pub, great steak and ale pie, nice veg and mash, but at £17.50 for a small round pie (nice pastry 🥧 as well) is a bit steep, but it still gets 4 ⭐.

Informal atmosphere and furnishings of a typical English pub. Local spread over 2 floors with themed corners. Definitely cute. Great Yorkshire beer with multiple choices. Good food, delicious sandwiches with beef and onion and more.

Excellent experience with friendly staff, food was a bit more expensive than I expected having said that the food was exquisite so I didn't mind paying the extra for quality.

Good food ( 5 out of 6 meals were lovely but the last one unfortunately was a very burnt burger.) Good choice of food and drinks. Staff were pleasant and apart from the burnt burger everything was delicious. Would go again and would recommend

Roast dinner cold. Roast potatoes not roasts. Fish and chips were good though. Thought expensive for average food. Staff were mostly good.

We came for Suday lunch and it was fab. Great service ,Great choice, great food lovely pudding and a super chilled out atmosphere . . We will definately be returning.

Sunday roast, quickly seated after announcing ourselves at the bar. We enjoyed two pork roasts and one beef roast. Pork roasts were great, meat sliced thickly so a little dry but happy with the portion & quality of the meal. Beef roast lacked flavour. Would prefer if they concentrated on crisp roast potatoes vs roast & mash potatoes on the plate. Atmosphere was great, helped by great apple cider on tap. We enjoyed our Sunday lunch!

A really nice pub with great food and a very range of beers. The staff are always very friendly and seem genuinely happy to serve you.

Food was amazing, service was great however atmosphere (we sat upstairs) was not enjoyable, drunk people standing and tumbling around, loud and unconscious, it was unpleasant to have a dinner, very cheap pub vibe, i would not come back for a nice dinner, maybe for a quick drink.

The Lamb and Flag hosted 22 of us for dinner last night. They did a fantastic job. Food was lovely and was served promptly. They allowed us all to pay separately saving the usual nightmare of trying to calculate a huge bill. We had a private area but still enjoyed the atmosphere of the pub. Well done to the staff!

This is the second time we’ve come to this amazing pub for, in my opinion, the best Sunday roast in Leeds. Service is fast, staff are great and friendly and the food is delicious. Highly recommend the baked Gruyère!! Ben looked after us today and he was superb, nothing was too much trouble and always checking in with a little joke here and there. Definitely recommend for the roasts if you’re wanting a nice relaxing Sunday in a cosy little venue.

A really cosy place with a good ambient to hang out on the weekends. The gin & tonic is really good and they have a special offer for them from Mon to Fri from 4-7pm. They have a wide range of crafted beer too

Called in for one by accident, didn't know it was there but seems a decent place and nice selection of real ales. 🍻👍

I booked a table for 4 on Saturday evening @7pm as I knew it would be busy. We arrived early and waited until our table was ready bang on time at 7. I could see at that point that the staff were very busy. We were shown to our table and drinks order taken. However when she returned to take the food order we were informed that 4 items on the menu, including my 1st and 2nd choice, were not available. We made our choices but by 8pm our food had still not arrived. My friends were very hungry and I was terribly embarrassed as I’d recommended the place. I spoke to the staff who were obviously under a lot of pressure but still polite and helpful. We were then informed our food would be another 5 minutes but this was too late and we decided to leave. I can only imagine that there was a problem in the kitchen but unfortunately we were not advised at any point that there would be a delay, which might have eased the tension. Although we offered to pay the bar bill the waitress refused. A kind gesture but too late. I have been for drinks at the lamb and flag many times before and once for Sunday lunch. However I am very reluctant to go again after that experience.

Decent beer with nice surroundings.

Second star is trying to give some benefit of doubt. Beer was good, Nice building and location but food very underwhelming for price. Came here off the back of the numerous positive reviews. Brought family of four after trip to the arena. Saturday night, so was busy but food was poor especially for Gastropub price where we had hoped for good quality. I'm glad I didn't go for Sirloin. Burgers burnt, Fish n Chips under cooked (?!) and thrown across the plate. The service you need to proactively ask for everything at every stage. Nice enough team but sadly not attentive and we were chasing at every stage of meal from order to bill. Unless something has drastically changed recently, I don't understand the positive reviews. Other than beer, sadly avoid

Absolutely delicious food! We had the Sunday roast and the steak and ale pie, and then shared the sticky toffee pudding. Everything we had was amazing , and the quality of the food was top notch, and the service was quick. I would definitely recommend this place for food and drinks!

Great Christmas Day meal … service great 😊

The food was delicious and well presented. We were a large party there for a Christmas meal. Most of the service was great but one person spoilt it a little. She wasn't the most approachable and at times came across as a unfriendly. But she could have just been having a bad day. Everything else was spot on.

Disappointed with the food served. Ordered 2 roast beef dinners - the meat was lukewarm & the potatoes boiling hot! One meal was swamped with gravy which made everything mushy so not impressed. Took a while to be served so didn't want to send the meal back only to have another wait. The beef was nice however, just a shame it wasn't very warm!

Just enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch here. Great menu options, good kids menu and great tasting food!

Lovely pub, with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Good service from all of the team too. The only reason I've marked the score down was that the food wasn't hot enough. We'd waited a while for it to come so we didn't want to send it back, and it was a great tasty meal, but just not hot enough.

I’ve been a fond user of this pub since I moved to Leeds almost four years ago but tonight was enough for me to never go back again. I sat down tonight with a friend of mine from the Netherlands, keen to show them some of my local watering holes as they have never been to Leeds before. We ordered two drinks and sat down at a table upstairs, some of the other tables upstairs were reserved so we used one of the tables near the stairs that did not have a reserved sign on it. Around 30 minutes into our drinks, one of the bar staff came over to our table and told us that we “need to leave.” I was a bit taken aback at her request for us to leave as I interpreted it initially that we needed to leave the venue. I asked her why we needed to leave and she said she needed the table as it had been reserved. I was a bit taken aback as she had initially said that we needed to leave, without any request that we first move to another table. The tables downstairs were full so it seemed a bit unfair that we needed to give up our table, although I do understand that in the Christmas period things get busy and sometimes reservation tickets for tables are sparse. We agreed to leave the premises entirely and try another local pub, which we communicated to her as we were almost finished with our drinks anyway. She scowled and looked at us as though we were stupid and she said she needed the table for a party coming in at 16:15. There was no reservation ticket on the table (as there had been on the other tables) but we agreed to move once we had drank our almost finished drinks. Without even a thank you she scowled at us again and stormed off with a loud sigh. She walked past our table a number of times, staring at us and making us feel uncomfortable. She then walked over to the table and slapped a “RESERVED AT 16:15pm” plaque down on the table as we were finishing our drinks. The time was around 16:20. My Dutch friend was quite taken aback at this and I was highly embarrassed as I had experienced such an attitude from the bar lady, and I was trying to show my friend some fantastic Leeds bars. We finished our drinks and my friend headed to the toilet, where I was getting our things ready to leave. She then stormed back over and snatched the reservation ticket from our table and rudely said “you can keep the table.” Before I could even explain we were leaving she had stormed off. I worked in a bar as a manager for four years until 2019 and can completely understand the stress of the Christmas period and running a bar under such conditions. The bar lady was incredibly rude to me and my friend who had already agreed to leave our table and there was no need at all for her attitude and passive aggressive behaviour. It made both me and my friend (a first-time visitor to Leeds) feel quite uncomfortable. Had there been a ticket on the table we would not have sat there. Even after she had come over and asked us to move tables we had already agreed to leave. What she gave us was unnecessary attitude and not even a “thank you”, given we had agreed to move. I imagine a lot of reviews (as I have been a bar manager myself) will be scoffed at as I know how rude the general public can be, but this was unnecessary rudeness from the bar lady and I was quite taken aback by it.

A nice place. Every time i go in there seems to be a function going on up stairs, so the best place to drink is around the bar area.

Friendly customer service. Home from home, a place to relax. Also heaters in back yard to eat or smoke. Will visit again soon and probably Chrismas day for a beer.

Didn't eat here so review does not take food into account. Decent selection of beers and most importantly a really good feel about the place! Relaxing and tasteful interior. Enjoyed it! Will be back!

Best Sunday Dinner we have had for ages. Drinks and staff excellent

Very disappointing. The pork was like a block of concrete and had to do a workout to get through it. Vegetables were burnt and disgraceful, very stingey with the gravy and so the dish was very plain, menu choice was limited. Took around an hour to get served - wasn't that busy either. Outrageously expensive for the price, might pay a fiver for this meal, if that.

I booked our Christmas lunch for 34 people. The food was of a really good standard, much better than anywhere else we’ve been in recent years. The setting was lovely and the staff were great. I would highly recommend the Lamb and Flag

Not quite what we expected. Food tasty enough but a bit lacklustre. Atmosphere not as brewery pubby or even pubby as expected. Service very friendly.

Wouldn't bother ordering their over priced expensive Xmas menu. 3 courses came out hungry. Their normal food looks amazing why do they make their set xmas one substandard?

Loved it, my only compliant would be the portion size of the treacle tart, it was tiny for £7.50

We booked for a Christmas dinner. Sadly we won’t book again. We were late being seen to our table. The table was next to the disabled toilet and the staff door which meant we had a constant cold draft every time the staff went in and out. Not attractive to be sat next to the toilet and at one point one of our party went to the bar to get the key for a waiting patron. Surrounded by a pub atmosphere because upstairs was booked for a wedding. Felt like they couldn’t refuse our booking so shoved us in. The food was ok with exception to the pigs and blankets which had no colour so no one ate them in fear of them being raw. We told the waitress who said this would be removed from the bill… it wasn’t. Overall, not a pleasant dining experience. Staff were great, friendly and helpful. Food ok. Happy to go for drinks here but wouldn’t book a Christmas meal here.

A fantastic pub with everything you want - great food, large choice of drinks and a comfortable atmosphere. We often go after work or for work events too and are always well looked after. Great spot, worth the short walk out of the city for a visit.

We arrived early and they were able to get us seated after a short wait. Our server was very friendly and efficient. Whilst the wait for our lunch was a little long it arrived at just the right time and was very tasty and a generous serving . We really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and will definitely be back.

We hired the upstairs space for a private event and it was fantastic! Great space, perfect for 60 people. The food options were excellent and the staff were very accommodating. Great communication leading up to the event and I would definitely recommend! Thank you Lamb and Flag!

We popped in on the off chance. The atmosphere was quietly relaxed but comfortable. Good range of food and drink on offer and service was friendly. If you want to eat, I would suggest booking ahead as it was fairly full.

Lamb & flag has a great outdoor space making it a very popular choice when the weather is nice! Big selection of beers and ales including Leeds Brewery offerings. Well worth visiting.

Lovely food and staff, however the service was quite slow when I visited.

First time at a wedding here and pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The food was really delicious and there was plenty of it - not usually the case at weddings! A bit crammed in on the top floor but once the speeches were over we spread out downstairs and in the beer garden. Decent ales on tap too.

A terrific venue with a great choice of ales set in a stunning location by the Minster. Only here for the beer so can’t comment on the food. A Leeds Brewery House although other guest ales are available. Top knowledgeable bartender gave me some excellent recommendations where else to visit - much appreciated 👍🏻

We booked a small party here and we all enjoyed it. The food was good and very tasty. The first time I tasted cider Berries and Cherries it was amazing. We enjoyed it a lot. The staff is good and the service is fast.

We tried our luck on a very busy Sunday and we were lucky enough to get a table . The staff were very efficient and the food was very pleasing my daughter and wife were very happy with the roast Sunday dinner one had the roast topside beef 3 nice slices and one the chicken breast . I had the Slow roast belly pork which whilst tender and lovely to eat but only one strip of belly pork was a bit mean in my opinion 2 would have been fair . But we all said we shall return as all the positives outweigh the lack of pork . Overall I would have given it a 10/10 if I had more pork but definitely a 9/10 .

As per usual a great dining and drinking experience, always come here for our school reunions as the food is great, there is a good selection of craft beers and the staff are always friendly and helpful, I highly recommend a visit.

We went on a Sunday as we have family and friends that rave about it, so we decided to give it go. We are a party of 4 with two young children, we ordered roast beef , steak and ale pie and a kids mini chicken roast. The chicken breast was very dry and tough, and I tried to use the gravy to soften it, but unfortunately, my daughter had 2 bites and gave up. My other half had the roast beef, which she did say was lovely , although potatoes are hard and old as I'm guessing they would be leftovers from the afternoon sit ins. My pie sadly came out black around the edges, although I love crispy pastry, this sadly was rock hard and tasted burnt. The waiter kindly offered a replacement, so I accepted . Sadly, the next pie had the strangest taste of cheese, but I picked about the filling. He had offered me 30% off the pie, but to be honest, I barely touched any of it. My daughter wanted her free ice cream, which sounded lovely , sundae with sprinkles. It came after we chased twice, and it was 3 scoops in a bowl with defrosted mixed berries, which were so tarte she didn't eat any. Not exactly a 3 year old sundae. We were so disappointed, and I won't be rushing back. Got home and had 2 slices of toast as I was starving !

Lovely bar just a bit expensive

We were a party of 6 which became a party of 8 on the way for our meal as we met two friends in Leeds who were keen to join us. It was no problem to the staff enemy though it was late in the night and they were busy. We had a very tasty meal, all of us very pleased with what we ordered accompanied buy great bear.

The food was ok but everything was a little bland and a little uninteresting. I feel like the chef hasn't tasted the dishes. Regardless it is well priced and serves decent portions. The service was excellent.
